Tell me outrightly the conclusion you're drawing from your statement. That it cannot be proven so and so are the most educated Nigerians? or that Jamb tells us so and so are the most educated Nigerians? or Neither? Those who passed the JAMB cut-off and could not pass oral interviews need to have themselves examined. How so? Have you heard of the nigerian cliche "expo''? May be they made their so-called high scores that way.speculation If anything, they should come from all parts of Nigeria.Bingo, I interprete that opinion of yours. as "the most educated Nigerians should come from all parts of Nigeria" If that's the case then in your opinion, it should be widespread, if it is widespread, how do you prove the discrepancy in the spread i.e. it is not proportional? You'd probably use Jamb as evidence - is Jamb truly reminiscent of who the most educated Naijas are? If it is proportional/equal, how is it "most", since most refers to a majority/high concentration of? If you want to verify that stance using Jamb, you already questioned it, I can't trust something to support your argument that you yourself openly criticized. Whilst Jamb is a good indicator of students passable into higher institutions, it is not a very good measure of who the most educated ones among them are. IMO that's where you & I got it mixed up. Everything should not be seen in the light of tribalism especially when there is verifiable statistics to support claims. The same statistics whose credibility you questioned above as perhaps rigged? Until you and I can agree that JAMB is a good source, our discussion will be difficult to conceive As for studying abroad, all regions of Nigeria do so, but of course the south significantly leads as expected.Evidence? I have been a student abroad for the past 4 years and I know precisely where and where in Nigeria many of the students I have seen around comes from.I'd accept this argument if you tell me how abroad you 've been for the past 4 years. Single location/moving about - but since you're arguing for the students you've come across I can't deny it, I take your word for it. No one can really give an accurate distribution of overseas student-nigerian region profile but it is safe to conclude that majority of them are Igbo and Yoruba.I agree with you on this even though I don't have the proof either. On the other hand, JAMB statistics provide a concrete view of the situation within NigeriaNah! quit playing, refer to my previous post. |
(A is better than B) is usually a sign of immaturity. It is not childish to talk about religion, but we often talk and think about religion in a very unappealing manner. For everyone(or almost), religion is rooted/founded and almost unchangeable. People often attempt to persuade others that their religion is "correct", and others "wrong" Do not forget the reason you follow your religion, each word in the holy book is important, do not forget the overall idea. Amicable discussions are a better way of resolving the questions we have about religion The purpose of religion and/or its foundation is often mis-interpreted by mere humans, but we aren't perfect. If you seek to expand your mind, sure you'll probably learn. If you attempt to contradict/raise provocative questions, you'll open a can of worms. Let he who has a mind think, he who has eyes see, and he who has ears listen. |
I believe the correct answer to this question is Yes, it helps, but it isn't the only option. |
I WILL BREAK THE RULE and type in caps. THIS IS AN ENDLESS QUESTION so stop it humans/seek knowledge. GOD IS GOD. interprete that statement as you wish. "GOD IS GOD." As long as you all believe in the only GOD and serve no other gods/idols before him, you should be fine. |
@ thread starter If your statement is a fact It is false. Nigerian education is recognized in other parts of the world, maybe not always looked upon as "prestigious". Definitely recognized. |

Whassup with Lebron lately he's still very good but it seems he's been out of the spotlight lately. Unless of course you watch ESPN nightly and you watch the highlights. I think sey Wade dey take his shine. |
I don't feel JAMB test scores tell enough about "the most educated Nigerians" as you put it. Not all students who get into polys, unis, [insert yours here], make it all the way. Example, if Jamb stats show that Hausas are the most passable into higher institutions, what happens if the most cases of drop-outs are reported to be Hausas, couldn't that mean other ethnicities are getting more education than the hausas who make it into the unis the most? And believe me, many students drop out of school. Another argument, if Jamb stats are a good enough measure for education, what happens to the many who pass above the cut-off marks but aren't accepted/able to make it to the schools they applied for, hasn't the system hindered their chance at getting even further education. Look at the newly instituted POST JAMB screenings, many students have been prevented from making it into unis to get more education, even though they passed above/at the cut-off marks for JAMB. Another stat you can provide that can help is which tribes are the majority in higher institutions. But even then, higher institutions are not the only measure of who the most educated Nigerians are. There are secondary school students who are more educated than some higher institution students. There are cases of people who home-school & learn on their own. There are Nigerians abroad studying. Its just 2 hard to argue this 4 so many reasons. If your argument is not tribal however, it is also harder to prove that easterners or westerners or [ ], are the most educated. |
Arenas has those highs and lows brother. one night goes off for fifty something on 20 for 35 shooting next night he scores sixteen on 4 for 22 shooting. just stuff like that ain't consistent enough. |
Educational pursuit in Nigeria is a serious issue, but for one reason or the other, not all Nigerians show interest in that endeavourblame the system, not the people. If you feel jamb stats are enough to tell the whole story, then therein lies the answer to your topic. |
but,Physics is the bedrock on which other branches operate on,is more or less like the head of the whole body.it encompasses all the sciences and much more, there comes the name 'Mother'This is a classic example of petitio principii (begging the question) / circular reasoning. So you're basically telling me that physics is the mother of all science because it just is. Let's assume I agree with you which I don't. Please shed some proof on why, as you said, it is the "Bedrock on which other branches operate on". |
OMG this is almost non debatable unless you have some strong back-up statistics, all it'll lead to is ignorant comments, hatred&bashing. |
@title Yes I am a fan of 24. He's got cool shoes, huge biceps, and he can do sick dunks. Most importantly, he puts on great shows |
I think the move is classless if true |
Amen, brother. Just appreciate him before it is too late, cos players of his kind don't come around 2 often. |
I like Arenas he's a kool kat, check out his blog on nba.com whenever you get the chance. I just hope he works harder and becomes more consistent. There are some exciting games on the schedule tonight. Don't miss "24" the greatest show on ESPN, live in 4 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfb7sOGEprI |
I agree with you both, but why do most families and many in our societies reject/look down on people for these reasons? |
I regret not taking french seriously back in Primary school in Nigeria. Didn't know the language could be a huge benefit. If only I could rewind the hands of time, I'd be eager to learn to speak the exotic language. |
Geolalisa re-read my post 'carefully' before textually assaulting me of plagiawhateverism will you & no I wasn't deviating. If you still can't figure something out I'll give you hints 1: Read This 2: Bolded texts 3: Source: link Since you've failed to realize that the answer to your question was embedded within the bolded text here it is again: Chemistry is often referred to as the central science because it joins together physics and mathematics, biology and medicine, and the earth and environmental sciences.if you still disagree with me, I'd like you to re-phrase your term 'mother of science' - it is very vague to write that 'physics is the mother of science because it is the study of nature.' Also Geolalisa about your response @ toksun i think biology is the Study of life not of nature.u can correct me if u think i am wrong.I'll text my opinion on this since I feel the statement is incorrect - There have been books written about biology also being a study of nature(Refer to: The Creation by Edward O. Wilson). I'd think biology is a type of study of nature since biologists also examine the effects of nature on our health & many other areas. You say that "Physics is the study of nature." True, but so is chemistry, biology, and many other sciences. In fact, we can easily define science as the systematized knowledge of nature and our physical world. And if you still want an activity: How about sexual intercourse |
y not restrict BBall posts to the strictly NBA thread? thats our style hereI would but it was 2 general. Do you really think 1 thread is enough, besides if the thread got really big many people wouldn't bother reading through prior posts. Fresh thought fresh topic sports is too exciting. Its a heat of the moment type thing. & I actually feel that thread is too general. Its great though for general b-ball discussions. Which is why I've been posting in it. |
If Kobe didn't get the MVP last season while doing what Agent Zero did and better, then NO - HIBACHI shouldn't get the MVP especially not while coming from the leastern conference where 60 percent of the teams have losing records. If he does get the MVP award(which he won't - I'll file a complaint against the league office - double standard). of what use is good defense without an offense? Not sure Spurs won their rings with their defensive might.- Vice versa - of what use is good offense without a defense, it sure as heck hasn't gotten the suns a champship so far. A mixture of good offense with better defense wins championships. Defense will rattle the opponent's offense and cause turnovers which lead to fast breaks and easy buckets. Yes, the spurs won their rings with their frustrating defense - ask the basketball fans on ESPN's NBA Board the majority will tell you they did. Playoff basketball is physical, and defensive-minded teams like Detroit and San Antonio win- Ever wondered why the Suns have a hard time beating the spurs? they slow it down and play at their tempo - usually half-court basketball. Takes the suns out of their marathon-type style and they struggle to adjust. Also: go on nba.com and listen to Bruce Bowen say that defense won them ships. & What I meant by Mavs style of play not correlating wish Nash's is - Nash prefers running with athletic guys. With the Mavs he had to cater some how to Nowitzki, while in Phoenix it doesn't matter who gets the points, he has the freedom to do whatever he wants. & look at the centers they had in Dallas - the likes of Bradley. Nash is one heck of a basketball player. |
If he had remained a mav they wouldn't have had the same players that were on that championship run. Nash's defense = meow! and you know defense usually wins ships. Also, don't forget the Mavs playing style didn't bode well with Nash's ability. I'm glad he got outta there 2 play for a team that is all run&gun. |
IMO male arrogance should not warrant that preferential adjustment. |
