A person can only be legally arrested if and only if a criminal reason presents itself. That is what the law says. And crime is as stipulated in the criminal code or acts of the state. obailala: I made it clear in my very first post that whilst it is possible that a pastor was arrested, it is absolutely unlikely that a "ladies and gentlemen" statement was the real reason for his arrest. With this in view, I wonder why you still keep quoting me and regurgitating the same point on freedom of speech... Or is my English grammar too complex to comprehend? You say because the "ladies and gentlemen" statement isn't a valid reason for an arrest, then so therefore, no arrest ever occurred. How can you just jump into conclusions like that on a matter you have absolutely no clue about?... Aren't you aware there are over 1001 other reasons why a person can be arrested? Pay attention! 🙄🙄 The reason given for the arrest is INVALID therefore a VALID arrest could not have been carried out. This means that instead of saying the man was arrested on grounds claimed, saying he was kidnapped would have made better sense. |

obailala: ■Two issues were raised in the report: 1. That a pastor was arrested 2. That he was arrested because of a statement he made. My point is simple - There's nothing unusual or incredulous about a pastor being arrested in the UK and this wouldnt be the first time an Rccg pastor will be arrested in the UK. In view of this, I have no basis to dismiss issue No.1 above... However for No.2, I do not believe the reason given for why the pastor was arrested. Please feel free to disbelieve the entire story if you wish, but I have made my own point. 1. Even in a place like Nigeria, the Law is clear that an arrest can and should only take place when there is a valid reason for it. Basically, when there is no valid reason, there ought not to exist an arrest. 2. Your pastor gave you the reason for the arrest. That reason turned out to be invalid for an arrest and he also indicated this happened out in the West where Freedom of Speech is considered sacrosanct. It becomes safe to conclude there was NEVER any such arrest as the one described by your lying Pastor Adeboye. Every day in the West, people including pastors who meet arrest requirements have arrest warrants enforced against them by law. If we count the number of pastors who were arrested today, December 2nd, 2024, alone, we might come up with a number above 10. The issue isn't whether a pastor was arrested but whether a pastor was arrested for speaking freely his mind. That is what never happened. |

NwaNimo1: According to the report, the petroleum industry received nothing from the $3.38 billion in capital imports into Nigeria during the first three months of 2024. The federal government had set out to hit the target of 2 million bpd in December this year, a development that now looks like a tall order as the country’s rig declines. Heineken Lokpobiri, minister of state for petroleum (oil), said: “The shortest way for us to get out of our current economic problems is to increase production. “And our target is that by December we want to hit at least two million barrels,” Lokpobri said. In addition, the government claimed that Nigeria is currently revving up output, producing 1.8 million bpd as of November 2024. Mele Kyari, group chief executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), said that the state-owned oil company and its partners have increased crude oil and gas production to 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) and 7.4 standard cubic feet per day (scfd) respectively. “The team has done a great job in driving this project of not just production recovery but also escalating production to expected levels that are in the short and long terms acceptable to our shareholders based on the mandates that we have from the President, the Honourable Minister and the Board,” Kyari explained According to the report, production rose from 1.399 million bpd in September, according to secondary data from Nigerian authorities. Direct communication showed that Nigeria’s average crude oil production for October was 1.333 million bpd, an increase of 9,000 barrels compared to 1.324 million bpd in the previous month.. At least it has been proven the lie we all knew it to be. |

obailala: ↪ Go back and re-read my first response, gosh! is that too hard? If a person tells me they drank tea in the morning, I don't know about you, but I think it'll be silly of me to start doubting and searching for proof that they really drank a cup of tea (that would be utter joblessness). But on the other hand, if someone tells me they consumed 2 litres of vodka before driving to work, then there's a genuine reason for me to question the veracity of their story. Now to the matter at had, the report claims a pastor was arrested for saying "Ladies and Gentlemen!" In my original comment, I clearly stated there's nothing unbelievable about a pastor being arrested in the UK; however, I doubted the real reason for his arrest was because he said "Ladies and Gentlemen".... ↪ , what so difficult to understand in what I've just explained? Again, Adeboye is reported to have claimed, with his mouth, that his employee was arrested on grounds that he referred to the audience saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen..." How can you claim an arrest took place but conveniently not believe the reason given for the particular arrest? 🤔 If the reason for the arrest makes no sense to even you then it should follow that that arrest never took place because an arrest can only be made if a valid reason for arrest presents itself. Since, according to you, the reason given for the arrest isn't valid then it should follow that such an arrest never did take place... at least that is how it works in the West, unlike Nigeria where you can even be arrested for farting. 2. I do understand what you are attempting to do here but I am trying to let you know it does not make sense to do that! |

optimusprime2: ↪ I am glad you have underpinned my point. If you read my first reply you would get where I was coming from. The bolded was my point... I was emphasising the fact that Misgendering is considered as harassment. Read the link you referenced. 🤔 Misgendering can be considered a form of unlawful harassment in certain circumstances. In the case of Lusardi v. Dep’t of the Army, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) clarified that while inadvertent and isolated misgendering likely would not constitute harassment, persistent failure to use an employee’s correct name and pronouns may constitute unlawful, sex-based discrimination under Title VII if such conduct is either severe or pervasive enough to create a hostile work environment. Such an environment involves harassment that is either so severe or pervasive that a reasonable person would consider it intimidating, hostile, or abusive, or when enduring the offensive conduct becomes a condition of continued employment. Misgendering is not sexual harassment but can promote it if care is not taken. Sexual harassment is a criminal offense. Misgendering is not a criminal offense that one would be arrested for it. Rather it constitutes a civil offense that one can sue for. |

The story instead says a pastor was arrested for wrongly addressing the audience. Pretending the reason for the arrest is to be ignored is disingenuous. Then, you claimed that you had no reason to doubt the story of the arrest, and I asked you what reason you had to believe the story in the first place given that proof is expected for one to claim belief. |

obailala: ➜If there is no logical or sensible reason to doubt a story, what's the essence of doubting it, especially when it doesn't even affect me in anyway? Is it just trying to be overly smart or perhaps a carried over trauma or paranoia? ➜If a colleague at work tells me he drank a cup of tea before leaving his house, why should I start doubting him? Does that even make sense? On the otherhand, if the colleague tells me he drank 2 litres of vodka before driving to work, then I have a genuine reason to doubt his tale! ➜Oh wow! Now I see where your problem stems from. You read my original comment just for the purpose of responding without bothering to comprehend it first. Kindly re-read my original comment below, but this time slowly and with an open mind. Perhaps you will understand my point. I didnt doubt that a pastor was arrested (that's a nonrmal phenomenon, but I obviously questioned the 'real' reason why! 1. The only logical reason to believe any story is if you have proof or evidence to back up the story...yes, stories require proof... otherwise it is just that, a story not worth believing! If you have ever studied logic, you would know this. Adeboye used to be a mathematician, according to his claim, and so should be aware of this. You do not believe unless you have proof... evidence to back up the story or claim. Otherwise, it is best to doubt it all and take it at face value! 2. His story is just that, his story and nothing more! However, when you reach for belief you need evidence of his claim that he tea, and not vodka or coffee. Again, the only rational reason to believe a story is if you have evidence that proves the credibility of the claim made. Otherwise, you have nothing more than a story and should treat it as such. 3. I didn't do any such you accuse me of. As soon as I read this article, I went straight to Google and even used the ChatGPT AI to investigate if there has indeed been any arrest in any of the Western countries that fit the pattern put forward by this man and the result came back zero. Yes, ChatGPT or Google AI explained that an arrest of such kind would be a violation of Freedom of Speech which is upheld even at the UN level where all of those Western countries are signatories. Adeboye claimed a pastor was arrested simply because he addressed an audience as ladies and gentlemen. That claim is a lie and means Adeboye is a liar! 😐😐😐😐 |

obailala: ✓ Huh?! Using an illogical question to evade the simple question I asked you... My reason for believing it is because he said it, and I dont have any sensible reason to doubt it. ✓ If a random stranger I meet in a bus tells me his wife recently put to bed, why should I start doubting him for saying something which is a very common and natural phenomenon? What's the logic or sense in going about doubting everything I hear, including irrelevant things? ✓ If you have a reason to doubt the occurrence of a very simple and common natural phenomenon, then the onus is on you to explain to us why you believe it is false. So If I formulate a lie, you will believe it too using your own explanation there? 2..I would accept his tale as just that. If he asked me for money or anything based on the tale, because I do not have proof and so do not believe his tale, I would not give him any. 3. The reason is simply and before everyone who has a brain. In the west, there exists what is called FREEDOM OF SPEECH which gives everyone the right speak their mind and say what they want to. Freedom of speech allows even individuals who use racial slurs against others to walk away free without fear of criminal prosecution of any kind. So, your Adeboye lied to you when he claimed someone was arrested for exercising his right to Freedom of speech. |
