Hello Justwise and other gurus in the house . Pls I need your attention on here, I applied for two years visa although have been to the Uk before with my first 6 month visa . I also applied for my wife and kid we all got the visa . Now this is the issues am facing now cause of work schedule at my office I can’t make it to the Uk with my family so I had to let them go for Xmas on getting to the point of entry they were questioned but at the end of the day they seized my wife and kid passport but they are allowed in to go and sleep wherever they want to . With that opportunity I told them not to come back to Nigeria again . All I need to know now house do you all think I won’t be questioned or can I just go through another airport apart from Heathrow. I need a quick response pls House on what to do

can you provide more details that will shed light on your current circumstance?
1. what specific questions was your wife asked at the POE that warranted the seizure of their passports?
2. were they told to come pick up their passports later on or what exactly . what was the scenario?

Sorry my questions are being too much. I m filling my application online and I am seeing where I am beng asked my pay after tax. The currencies listed are GBP and NGN, however I work in Australia and I am paid in AUD. How can I go around it?

use the currency converter on www.oanda.com and convert across any currency of your choice. That is the converter UKVI also uses.

Good morning house,

I booked an appointment for thursday but I realised I had an error on the date of birth I input on the system. Please how can I correct this error? Do I need to cancel the appointment and reschedule another? Your candid advise and solution would be appreciated.

Thanks

you could correct it on your application form by striking it off neatly with single line, write the correct Date of Birth and sign off and insist that page is scanned alongside your supporting documents because application forms are not scanned. Also point it out and include it your cover letter to give you comfort and ensure its not missed out

Thanks Justwise for your feedback. i intend leaving out the evidence of properties owned, tenency agreement and the likes. please note that I did not indicate in my application thay I owned any property rather I indicated savings which I have my bank statement and investment certificates to back it up with. I started that where I live is a rented place and not owned. hope it won't have any adverse effect. I didn't put those in my previous application done via the old application portal.

kindly respond

Good day All,

i sought advice when I wanted to help my sister fill her application form. Thank God she got it. It took a total of 10 days from document submission.

She applied alone, she is married with four children (Two set of twins). Purpose of travel was to have "Mummy alone rest". A friend of many years sent her letter of invite but stated that my sister will sponsor herself.

Documents submitted:

1. Statement of account with anout N1.4M closing balance- cost of trip was pegged at N600,000.
2. Letter from her hubby giving her consent to travel and stating that she really needs time to rest.
3.Employment letter, Introduction letter from her office, pay slips.
4. Letter of invite from friend with passport data page.
5. Marriage certificate, children's birth certificate, wedding and family pictures.

Thank you

c

congrats to her. please what was the content of the invitation letter? noticed you did not add utility bill,tenancy agreement etx of the person that invited her nut yet Got the visa

Good Evening. please can someone tell me if appointment can be easily rescheduled on the new application site? I have not applied on the new site before. also is it really compulsory to do a budget breakdown seperately in the additional comment Section as the new application site only asks the total amount budgeted for the trip unlike the old site that has columns breaks down the cost of the trip

1. We wrote the letters ourselves and addressed them to: "The Consular General, British Deputy High Commission, 11 Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos".

2. We did this by supporting with fixed deposit certificates. You must note also that our 6 months payslips show how our salaries were paid and how transfers were made from there to the investment company.

3. For instance, my costs added up to 1,396 GBP and the breakdown is as follows: 775 for air ticket; 371 for accommodation; 150 for feeding for 10 days; and 100 for intra-city transport for 10 days. My wife had similar costs minus accommodation.

4. We plan to spend 10 days during the Christmas holidays and hotel for 9 nights costs 371 GBP.

Thanks for your detailed and timely response. which site did you use for the hotel reservation? The 371GBP for 9 nights was for both of you? please was it a hotel or a hostel?

Hello everyone in the house.

I wish to salute Justwise, Ekpotek and all other gurus on this forum. Well done for the selfless service being rendered to humanity. I have been a silent follower for years, but decided to make this post in the hope that some persons will benefit therefrom.

My wife and I applied for UK Visit Visas and we were both given. She applied for 6 months, while I did for 2 years. She is a 1st time applicant, while I have been to the UK once, like 7 years ago. Then I was given a 2 year HSMP work visa, but only travelled once and stayed for 14 days. I have other international travel histories, though.

Our time lines are as follows:

1. Submitted online applications at about 10 October 2018;

2. Biometrics was done at the TLSContact Ikeja on 18 October 2018;

3. Emails received from TLS informing us that applications have been transferred to UKVI for processing on 18 October 2018;

4. Emails from UKVI informing that our online applications have been received on 24 October 2018;

5. Emails from TLSContact Ikeja informing that our passports are ready for collection on 1 November 2018;

6. We picked up our passports at the TLSContact Ikeja on 6 November 2018 and found that the passports have been stamped with UK Visit Visas.

Our Supporting Documents are as follows:

1. Letters from our respective employers showing when we were employed, our annual pay and plan to travel to the Uk;

2. Our payslips for 6 months;

3. Our salary account statements for 6 months. She had a credit balance of about N500k, while I had a credit balance of about N1.1m;

4. Photocopies of all our international passports [in colour];

5. Our respective retirement savings account statements;

6. Our respective fixed deposit statements. She had N6m, while I had N7.5m to mature in early December 2018;

7. Letters explaining that the funds in the fixed deposits would be available to us for our travel;

8. Our hotel reservation on booking.com;

9. Marriage certificate;

10. 2 family pictures;

11. A schedule of our itinerary in London which shows all the interesting places we planned to visit in London;

12. Breakdown of our respective costs of travel, i.e feeding, tickets, accommodation, intra-city transport. We ensured our respective costs were not up to our 2 months salaries;

13. Our children's birth certificates;

14. Our landed property document, jointly owned; and

15. Rent receipt for our present accommodation.

I do hope the information above would assist, at least, one person in his visa application.

I wish all the UK Visit Visa applicants success.

congrats to you both! That's a good one. Your post is uplifting. and gave me hope.It was very insightful.please I.need some clarifications. I have a similar profile with you.I applied too in October but was denied because they said I had unexplained deposit which happened to ne my fixed deposit. Although I did not include the certificate from my bank,but I explained in my cover letter. that it was my fixed deposit. I was told I needed to explain the source of the fundd. So now,

1. who gave you the lettet you referred to in number 7? Did you write the letter yourself or the letter originated from your bank?
2. How did you prove the funds belonged to you and was not for the purpose of facilitating your visa application?
3. please kindly show a breakdown of yoour costs.
4. how many days were you planning to spend and the cost of you hotel accommodation.

If the ECO did not buy your explanation. Then you need to provide a full 4 years bank statement showing how the fixed deposit started till date. Another Remedy. Separate your salary account from your fixed deposit/savings. Run the account for 6 months and reapply.

Thanks Ekpotek. If i decide to go the route of printing bank statement for 4 years, am thinking of getting my office to issue letter stating that I have been running that exclusive investment for staff for that lenght of time and that the funds are readily available
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by kokoli: 12:58pm On Oct 27, 2018
My visa application was refused. I have attached the letter. Their reason for the refusal was unexplained deposit. The said deposit was a MATURED fixed deposit on my salary account which has been running for over 4 years.I presented one account statement only which is my salary account and also doubles as my savings account as well. There is a special high yield investment designed exclusively for staff.it is on a 30 days basis after which I increase the amount monthly from my salary. what baffles me is that I included a cover letter explaining the origin of the funds. The last MATURED amount of about 8m waa the only one used as reference point. I explained All the other inflows but ommitted that one even though I used a pen to include it on my application form but Unfortunately only the first page of the application form is now scanned at TLS. Could the refusal have been because I failed to explain that fixed deposit MATURED amount because I have similar inflows In the 6 months account statement provided which I clearly explained as MATURED fixed deposit which matures monthly and is rolled over while Increasing the principal amount. how do I prove the origin and source of funds as the funds in question have been running through my account for over 4 years. The funds have accumulated over the years as I save monthly and add to the fixed deposit. proving it will require account statement of over 4 years.. kindly advice.

1. Call them and explain to them why your booking was cancelled and offer to provide them with another hotel booking. If they object, best is to pray hard that they do not confirm hotel bookings

2. Yes they do. Sometimes it depends on your reason for the visa, personal circumstances and travel history. If you have a good travel history to the UK, they might not be bothered about confirming your hotel booking. Particularly if you have family and friends in the UK.

Thanks Ekpotek for the insighr. Please can you provide a numbet visa processing center can be reached on? I called with the number provided on the site and spoke with th call center agent and was told nothing could be done since I have submitted. So I still ask if I should send an email with new booking or will i be unduly exposing myaelf?. please I will appreciate your timely response

Why is booking.com cancelling people's booking anyhow these days? Did you use a funded card for the booking? Or what was the reason for the cancellation?

Account was more than adequately funded. Even two friends in the uk used their cards to assist me book but it still cancelled afterwards. Reason is invalid credit details. Guess issue is from booking.com.

Dear. People. kudos for the good work. i have a very pressing issue I would want an advice. I have submitted my application and undergone biometrics. I found out the hotel reservation I made via booking.com and which I used in applying for the visa has been cancelled. I tried rebooking the same hotel and couldnt because its fully booked for the dates I earier booked with. Is it advisable to now book an entirely Different hotel and send an email to the visa processing center at Sheffield explaining what happened and attaching the new reservation. or will it just complicate issues? Any other logical idea to remedy the situation will be welcomed 2. Do UK visa always call hotels to confirm reservations? I have only Got a mail that my application has been received and is being prepared for consideration by an ECO. . A quick response will be appreciated . I don't want to jeopardise my chances for visa issuance

Thanks a lot Ekpotek. Do I really need to state that I am presenting a hotel reservation different from the one I earlier made the application with because the reservation automatically cancelled itself? or I should simply state that I made some changes on.my earlier reservation without offering further explanation? I doubt if the issue is with the card being used in booking because I even asked someone in the UK to make a reservation on.that same site booking.com and same automatic Cancellation occured.
