A 5-year Canadian visa ban for a Nigerian means you are barred from entering or successfully applying for Canadian visas or permanent residence during that period. Even after the five years, you will face much stricter scrutiny in future immigration applications worldwide.

Put simply: with a Nigerian passport and a 5-year Canadian ban, you’re in double trouble. Even after the ban expires, you’ll need to provide much stronger proof of honesty and eligibility. A Canadian ban raises red flags about credibility, making future applications — whether to the EU, U.S., or other Western countries — far more difficult.

Even if you eventually obtain EU citizenship, problems may still arise. When applying to enter the U.S. through ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization), your history can be checked, and prior bans may prevent you from entering the U.S. or other countries.

Remember: a simple visa refusal is far better than a 5-year ban — because a ban leaves a lasting mark, sometimes for life.

If not our country that our politicians have messed up, must we go to all these countries? Our bad politicians have made many Nigerians to think that one has not arrived without going to these countries.

I checked different comments about not being able to enter those countries due to initial 5 years ban, and I feel like and so what? Will the world come to an end because of that? Are they even gods?

I started thinking that we can also improve our status here in Nigeria like many people that I know without going to those countries. If we do, they will have no choice than to grant us visas when they see our intimidating profiles no matter previous ban.

And, as I'm awaiting the outcome of my visitor visa application but the passport I submitted will expire in May 2027, can I go and quickly renew my passport for 10 years to see if I will be lucky to get a 10 year visitor visa?

As some people have said that visa validity is now at discretion of the visa officer, can one quickly go and renew passport for like 10 years after PPR to see if one can get 10 year visa?

Or the validity period has already been decided before PPR.

Please I need your help on something very important because I'm a bit confused.

A travel agent promised to get me a visitor visa to enter Canada and get me a open work permit within two weeks after entering Canada. He said jobs and accommodation are already on ground for me and I will start working immediately I get there. He is advertising this on radio and a lot of people are already applying. I have paid 50% of the total amount required to be before leaving Nigeria.

Please, how true are his promises? I mean is it possible to use a visitor visa to work in Canada? Is it also possible to get an open work permit in Canada within two weeks?

So the way I did it. I did registration for the school I came in with. Unfortunately/fortunately I couldn’t resume cz my sister got sick here and she has a baby so I deferred the previous admission till fall. And I started applying to another school. When I got the admission I just updated IRCC on my portal about DLI change.

The normal process is for you to even start the first school. Maybe for a few weeks before you change but I had a valid reason for o starting.

What about the tuition you paid in the first school? Did they refund or it has gone forever?

My school resumed last week, Sept 08, 2022, and till Sept 15, 2022 to defer. As a result, I have sent a request to defer till January 2023 to my school.

My question now is must I inform the IRCC of the deferrenent through the webform when I receive my new LOA?

I need this clarification because I have seen some comment 150 days timeframe which I don't really understand.

1.) I want to submit my study permit application next month, 15th September. Can I go for Medical test before submission?

2.) Can I go/book for Medical test without the IME and UCI Number?

Yes to firs and second questions. To the third question, for IOM Abuja, you will complete the medical that same day you go for it. The result will be sent to IRCC directly but you can request for a copy after 5 working days.

I submitted my family applications on August 2, 2022, with the upfront medical we did on July 19, 2022. However, only the medical of my one-year-old daughter has so far been updated passed which they did since August 11, 2022. Eligibility review yet to start for any of us.

Gurus in the house, please what is the process of applying for a study permit for accompanying children with one in primary school and the other one in secondary school here in Nigeria?

Is there a need to secure admission for them in primary and secondary schools in Canada and include their admission letters in their study permit applications? If yes, how can one secure admissions to primary and secondary school in Canada?

If you did your medical in Abuja like me, that A4 paper they gave you in the computer room where you did registration is what is being referred to as a slip here. e-medical is written on it and it has your picture. That is what you need to attach to the webform.

Your baby won't need biometrics, just you and your spouse.

The second letter will come in, mine came in 4hrs after my spouse's own.

Each family member older than 14years will be given a biometric collection letter. You can't use the same collection letter to book appointment for everyone

Please those who applied as a family, how do we book a biometric appointment with VFS as a family.

They sent the Biometric Collection Letter to the primary applicant only and the IRCC Number on the letter is just one. But when I was trying to book an appointment as a family of three, they were requesting for the IRCC Number of the other two people. I tried using the only one on the letter but it was showing an error message that the number has been used by the primary applicant and I should supply another one.

Please, guide me as I don't want to guess and then make a mistake.

I have been trying using GTBank US Dollar Mastercard to pay for IRCC study permit application fees but it has been declining it.

Please, my spouse has General IELTS for UKVI (Not the normal IELTS) and has the following results:

Speaking = 7.0
Writing = 7.0
Listening = 7.5
Reading = 7.5
Overall = 7.5

My question is should we include in her SOWP application?

Will it raise a red flag since it is for UKVI or a plus for the SOWP application?

Please I have been trying to get my school (University of Ottawa)to defer my admission to January 2023 but they are not giving me accurate responses. Pls has anyone applied for a deferal at UofO and the reason I'm deferring is because my semester starts I September 2022 or can I still apply for a study visa this month?

We are in the same shoe. My program starts 8 September 2022. I'm yet to apply for a visa as I'm awaiting some important documents to include in the application.

I have decided not to defer the admission. So, I will apply like that next when I have the expected documents. I've already done upfront medical. I did last Tuesday.

I am taking this decision because I believe God can do it before the my school resumption date.

The reason is that I've seen some people that got their PPR within 6 weeks based on their timeline. I believe mine is going to be like that In Sha Allah.
