Business / Globacom: An Indigenous Company On The Decline by kolaunited(m): 3:52pm On Apr 21, 2019
hi nairalanders,
I will like to share with you my encounter with Glo yesterday.
I recharge my glo line from my bank account 550 naira.
I intend using it to load a mini data, my data finish and it's actually my employer that provide me with data.
after the recharge I got a message from glo that I have a bonus of 2200 for call and my main account was not recharge.
I was furious and call their customers center, it took an agent 22m 28s to pick up and she could not give me a reason why it took them so long to pick up
I explained my issues with her and she told me for every recharge that has 50 naira on top it is automatically converted to bonus. I told her I want to use the recharge for data and not calls. she said its glo policy and their is nothing she could do
I was so furious and disappointed with that act and I have decided to port the mobile number to another network immediately.
while I was thinking about this I notice nobody buy or sell a new glo sim in my vicinity in Ibadan. our own indigenous company we can not trust.

Politics / 17 Powerful Reasons Why Buhari Is Not The Killer Of The Naira by kolaunited(m): 11:04am On Feb 28, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari has several times ruled out the possibility of his government devaluing the naira. However, many Nigerians believe that the president is killing naira.

Tom Garba of Today.ng gives 17 powerful reasons why Buhari is not the killer of the naira.

A lot has been said about the falling of the country’s currency, the blames were all toward to President Buhari. I investigated on the bedeviling issue and I discovered the problem is never to be linked with the present administration as the initiator or the genesis of crippling the national economy.

Please let me help our minds with this simple economic terms that dollar has not increased since Buhari became president but only an effort by the present government to improve the economy is making others evil agencies to cajole the naira value in favor of the dollars.

1. Dollar is not our currency so dollar should not be our business.
2. Our problem is not the government but our problem is our importers and consumers. 3. Naira has remained at 197 naira to 1 dollar since Buhari became president.
4. Buhari has promised not to devalue the naira and he has maintained that promise.
5. Both at CBN and at interbank rates, dollar has remained 197.
6.However because we are too lazy to produce what we use in Nigeria we import even toothpicks and matches.
7. Buhari does not like the importation of luxury goods because luxury goods is the reason for most corruption, that is why he banned 41 products from having access to forex.
8. However when Nigerian importers insisted on importing those 41 products, FG asked them to find their dollar at the BDCs parallel market also known as black market.
9. And to discourage the pressure Nigerians are mounting on the Naira just to get dollars for importation, CBN banned DMBs from selling dollars to BDCs.
10. To survive the pressure of excess dollar demands, BDCs resorted to sourcing for dollars from neighbouring countries through illicit money laundering routes.
11. Because of the risks faced by BDCs to source for dollars, and because of the increase in demand for dollars by importers because China just resumed from their business holidays, BDCs keep increasing the price at which they exchange dollars to naira and now it is 400 naira to 1 dollar.
12. However that does not mean that government has changed the exchange rate because if our genuine importers go to CBN and fill Form M to import raw materials for local production, they will get dollars at 197 naira each.
13. So the problem is that we love to consume luxury foreign products yet we are too lazy to manufacture them here.
14. For example you will see a dull girl using iPhone 5 without even knowing simple physics and computer engineering part of how that phone was produced.
15. I want Buhari to ban every foreign product from Nigeria until Nigerians learn to produce and use made-in-Nigeria products.
16. Let us stop complaining about dollar as if dollar has become Nigeria’s currency.
17. It is even bad enough that most of those complaining about the high exchange rate of dollar do not have 1 single dollar in their purse.

Jobs/Vacancies / 5 Reasons Employees Can't Stand Their Bosses by kolaunited(m): 7:16am On May 24, 2013
Do you think your employees hate you? If so, make things right, quickly, before their negativity takes down your company's culture.

How do your employees really feel about you? Do they look up to you, consider you a friend and respect you? Or is the answer more likely “none of the above”? If it's the latter, there's no time like right now to turn things around. Here are five common reasons employees may hate you, and what you can do to change their minds.

1. You can’t make up your mind. There’s nothing wrong with getting input from different people and taking your time to consider it—in fact, operating in such an inclusive way can give you valuable new perspectives. But at some point, you have to stop gathering and reviewing information, and start making decisions.

If this is you: Try taking more time before each project starts to think through all the ramifications. This will help you assess possible outcomes and decide which path to take.

2. You micromanage them. As business owners, our businesses are our “babies,” so like over-eager parents, many of us tend to micromanage. Unfortunately, micromanaging kills employees’ sense of initiative. Knowing that you will second- guess their choices, they’ll stop making decisions and wait passively for you to tell them what to do. This has two results: First, you become a bottleneck, since nothing can happen without your input, and second, you’re left with a team that’s about as useful as a group of 6-year-olds.

If this is you:Take baby steps. Figure out which areas you can let go of and see how employees do on their own. As you see they can handle the job, you’ll become more comfortable with a more hands-off management style.

3. You talk the talk, but don’t walk the walk. Do you expect your team to work all hours while you roll in to the office at 10:30 with a
latte in hand? You may be working all hours at home, but that doesn’t count if your team
can’t see it and has the impression you’re a slacker. Make sure your staff sees that you’re as committed as they are and don’t expect them to do what you’re not willing to.

If this is you: Think seriously about the image you’re projecting. Maybe you need to put in more face time to bond with your
employees. Or maybe you could let them work from home too.

4. You play favorites. As small-business owners, we all work closely with our team, and let’s be honest: You’re going to like some people more than others. You may even develop friendships with them outside of work. But it’s important not to let those
friendships affect what goes on in the office. The way you treat employees needs to be based solely on their actions and
achievements, not on how you feel about them as people.

If this is you: Be hyper-aware of how you’re treating your favorites. You may need to bend over backward to show there’s no
favoritism going on. (Like you would if you were working with a spouse or family member.) You should also be open with your workplace buddies, and let them know things are going to change in the office and that it’s not their fault. They’ll probably be relieved, since being the boss’s pet can be
uncomfortable.

5. You flaunt your success. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the fruits of your labor. We all know that running a business is hard work. But it’s important to share the rewards with the team that helped you reach your goals. Otherwise, you will build resentment among the troops that will ultimately destroy your business. Did you go out and buy a new car the same month
you handed out cards as a
Christmas bonus? Did you complain how bad the exchange rate was on your foreign vacation the same year you instituted a salary freeze? If any of this hits
to close to home, then your team probably does hate you.

If this is you: Reward yourself in more subtle ways. And make your employees’ rewards commensurate with their contributions not just the minimum you need to spend to
deduct it on your business taxes.
Family / Shettima Adopts Kids Of Slain Policeman, Gives Victims With N5m by kolaunited(m): 1:46pm On May 09, 2013
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State yesterday adopted three children of one of the 22 policemen killed during Tuesday
morning coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on various security formations in Bama Local Government area of the state.
The adopted kids, Saviour, Emmanuel and John lost both parents in the bloody attacks
when the invaders raided the Bama mobile police barracks.
The siblings were presented to the governor by top police officials when he visited various scenes of the incident as well as 35 mobile squad base, where families and
relations of slain police personnel are being accommodated following the destruction of
their barracks by the rampaging insurgents.
At the refugee camp, where 300 Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs), mostly women and children were being sheltered, the
governor, who was visibly piqued by the onslaught, urged the bereaved families to consider the ugly trends as an Act of God.
Shettima, who was led by the Bama Police Area Commander, ACP Sagir Abubakar, gave the assurance that government has adopted concrete security measures to forestall recurrence of the incident.
While appealing to them to remain calm, Shettima equally donated N5 million to the relations and families of the slain police officers as a palliative intervention to cushion their sufferings.
He also told families of the victims that he decided to adopt the three orphans to offer meaningful contributions to their up-
bringing.
The governor said: “It is not easy to lose a soul, but the case of these children is quite different as they lost their parents. For this, I
am personally adopting them and will treat them as my own children. In fact from now on, they will be under my care, their feeding, education, shelter and other needs will be under my responsibility.”
The Police Area Commander, however, thanked the governor for the gesture, saying police are ever ready to continue partnering with the state government to
end the insurgency.
He also told the governor that the
whereabouts of the Divisional Police Office (DPO) remained unknown as he was neither found dead or alive and that contact with him was still not established.
The governor also visited the palace of the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi, which shares fence with the Bama prison yard where 14 prison personnel were killed in the onslaught.
Shettima later returned to the Government House in Maiduguri in the evening in company of the adopted kids.

bookface:

Pass the pipe when you are done!

Which silly experts are forecasting China dumping the dollar? for what? Euro? or the Rimbi? or the Naira?

US debt may be its bane, but the US wouldn't be the one that will hurt the most should the US economy face a perpetual collapse.

The entire economics of the developed world, much of the banking system of the global world, the entire global commodities industry, more than 95% of the entire global debt markets - are all based on the dollar!

If the global currency markets is a language, the dollar is a combination of English, french, Chinese and Spanish. More than 3/4 of the world speak, live and breathe it. You can't simply wake up one morning and decide to dump it unless you wish to experience an economic Armageddon.
this guy na big dindinrin, so you think other country have been sleeping with their economy all this while.

When was the last time the US (suppose world leader) settle difference between create peace in the world instead they support a nation against the other. When there is a fight between members of a family, is the head of the suppose to support one against the other? Big shame on you guys always suppoting the US.
