Wife of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hajiya Aisha Buhari, Monday, donated assorted drugs and other relief materials to victims of the multiple suicide bomb attacks that occurred last weekend in Maiduguri the Borno state capital.
Mrs. Buhari presented the items through the Borno State First Lady, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima Monday at the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri.
The Borno State First Lady extended the condolences and sympathies of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to the people of Borno state and government over the multiple bomb attacks in the metropolis, while calling for prayers for peace in the land.
Hajiya Buhari further commended the efforts of the security agencies and the Civilian JTF in fighting the Boko haram insurgency in the state.
Collecting the items for the victims, Chief Medical Director of the Borno State Hospitals Dr. Salisu Kwaya Bura thanked Mrs. Buhari for the gesture, adding that it will go a long way in attending to the health needs of the patients within the state owned hospitals, describing the suicide bomb attacks as senseless.
He expressed gratitude to Hajiya Aisha Buhari for the kind efforts, describing the gesture as timely.
The items include 150 cartons of assorted drugs, 1000 multi-vitamins, polythene mats and blankets etc.

The First Lady had in her recent campaign in Calabar reportedly asked PDP supporters to stone APC supporters chanting the “change” slogan of the party and described Buhari as a man without brain at another campaign in Kogi State.

In a statement in Lagos yesterday, a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Oladipo Johnson, said such comments were in bad taste and capable of creating violence and ethnic division among the people ahead of the elections.

He expressed concern that instead of the First Lady to use her position to campaign on the issues in the elections, she had by her comments preached violence and resorted to character assassination.

“It was simply in bad taste and unacceptable. The First Lady’s hate campaign must be condemned to let the world know how desperate the PDP and its affiliates have become in their futile attempts to paint the opposition black and hold on to power. But it’s all a charade and obviously the Nigerian people can see through such deceit and have already made up their minds for an inevitable change come March 28″.

“If the PDP leadership and members cannot come out and dissociate themselves from the First Lady’s statements, then they are complicit. In any case, it’s our responsibility to continue to tell Nigerians to abstain from such bigotry and division by harping on the biting issues of the day and consequently vote out the peddlers of hate campaign and install the Buhari/Oshibajo presidential ticket as a desirable path to a new Nigeria. This is the task Nigerians have decided to accomplish come March 28″.

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also described her as “an embarrassment to Nigerians and Nigeria.”

The Director, Media and Information Technology, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, has said that the wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will not join the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, to play political thuggery, because she is not a tout

Maduekwe, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH in Abuja on Thursday, said, “You should know it is beneath the person of our respected General’s wife to join issues with Dame Patience Jonathan.

“Mrs. Jonathan has clearly shown that she lacks the discipline and composure required of the occupant of the office of the First Lady. It is neither the General’s style nor is his Madam’s style to join Mrs. Jonathan to play the role of political tout.

“Mrs. Buhari is too refined and well groomed to descend to the level of insulting someone else’s husband in the name of politics.

“There is this adage which says you don’t run after a mad person who took your cloth while you were taking your bath because those who see you running after the mad person may not distinguish between the mad person and you.” The campaign organisation was reacting to a report that Mrs. Jonathan said Buhari might be brain dead because of his age at a campaign rally in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Tuesday.

Patience had said that old people might not reason very well because of their ageing mind.

She said, “Vote for my husband, Jonathan. Do not vote for Buhari. He is an old man. People, when they become old, may not reason well and their brain may even be dead.”

Reacting to Mrs. Jonathan’s comments on Buhari, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also described her as “an embarrassment to Nigerians and Nigeria.”

Dabiri-Erewa, who is a cognate member of the APC in the House, said, Mrs. Jonathan was not only “crude” in her actions, but her utterances had taken away the “poise” associated with the office of the First Lady.

She said of all Nigeria’s First Ladies, Mrs. Jonathan remained the “worst.”

Dabiri-Erewa said, “Mrs. Jonathan is an embarrassment to the whole country. The only people shouting her praise or listening to her are the sycophants; outside them, nobody else does.

“She is crude and unrefined. When you travel out of the country, Nigerians keep asking you how we came this bad.”

Another member of the Buhari campaign, who asked not to be named, told Saturday PUNCH, “Mrs. Buhari does not have a structure different from that of General Buhari.

“The campaign has already responded copiously to the reckless statement by Mrs. Jonathan. Besides, the general’s wife accompanied her husband on the trip to London.”

In a statement signed by the APC’s campaign’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Wednesday, the party said the President’s wife was insultive.

The APC campaign urged President Jonathan to caution his wife.

lagos—The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has challenged Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, to present the tax receipt Agbaje was supposed to have paid after being publicly accused of evading land use charges on his business premises.

Governor Fashola had last week alleged that the PDP governorship candidate had paid N500,000 of the total sum of N1.6 million reportedly owed from the backlog of three years’ Land Use Charge tax. Agbaje, in a statement by his Director of Publicity, Felix Oboagwina, challenged the Lagos State governor to produce the tax receipt.
According to him, “Good enough, Fashola is a lawyer, so he knows the maxim that: He that alleges must prove. So, I challenge the governor to show Lagosians the receipt issued to either me or JayKay Pharmacy since February, when he told his first lie.”
Faulting the governor for equating an individual with a corporate entity, Agbaje said “It is basic law, civil, contract, criminal, that an individual is different from a corporate body, and one can benefit from or suffer for what the other has done and I shall continue to wonder why a Senior Advocate of Nigeria would insist on roping me in on what a company has purportedly done, even though he knows quite well what the law says.”

Setting the records straight, the governorship candidate said that JayKay Pharmacy continued to maintain that it owed the government no land use charges. Agbaje noted that “There is no truth in this latest piece of misinformation that the governor is spreading around.
He lied again, giving the impression that my company paid money after his initial outburst and his first lie.
JayKay Pharmacy has not paid a kobo since the day Fashola launched his initial allegation. To say that I have now paid N500,000 is a lie. My company sticks to the facts contained in its initial publication, which contained its reaction to Fashola’s initial lies.”
