I remember Hymn 646: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus. |
This is a laudable development. It should be applied nationwide and not just in Imo state alone. |
The topic is obviously not true, but sadly, that is the picture of Jesus that the modern day church has painted of Jesus - a wealthy family man. This picture (a billionaire married to Mary Magdalene) is obviously not the true depiction of Jesus Christ. Churches preach prosperity rather than godliness and contentment. They preach 'family first' instead of 'God first'. The poor are considered as fake believers, while single people are considered as sub-par members of society. So, it's no surprise that someone somewhere will come up with the ridiculous idea that Jesus was a billionaire married to Mary Magdalene. |
Brahamimo:The bible actually tells us what happens after death in the story of the rich man and the beggar, Lazarus. Read the story below: (Luke 16:19-31 KJV) 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. |
This is good news. I think we should use this to service our national debt and stop borrowing. |
Truvelisback:(Ecclesiastes 9:11 NET) Again, I observed this on the earth: the race is not always won by the swiftest, the battle is not always won by the strongest; prosperity does not always belong to those who are the wisest, wealth does not always belong to those who are the most discerning, nor does success always come to those with the most knowledge – for time and chance may overcome them all. |
Ha, ha, ha. Top 5 Infamous Areas Where 419 Boys Hunt "Fresh Mugu" in Lagos. That's hilarious! |
Yeah, I think so too. |
Like Jega said, it is a welcome development. |
Ikaeniyan0:Don't say it's an insult to give N30 as offering. A woman in the bible gave a small amount as offering and Jesus said she gave more than all the others. Read the bible passage below: Mark 12:41-44 KJV 41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. |
The bible has said it: Matthew 24:6-8 KJV 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. |
JC all the way. (By the way, JC stands for Jesus Christ). Jesus literally divides all of history into two: BC (Before Christ) and AD (After Death). He is the Centre of a religion (i.e. Christianity) that spread throughout history all over the world. Today, Christianity is the number one religion in the world with the most followers. Many Christians have gone on to make remarkable contributions to human society through inventions, discoveries, revelations, etc. |

1. I tried PIZZA once and didn't like it. It looks like eating rotten garbage. 2. I tasted AMALA once and never tried it again. It almost resembles poop. 3. I have been avoiding jobs that involve MARKETING but on one occasion, I applied for and accepted an insurance marketer job. We had one introduction to the job and were told to get guarantors for the job that is commission based with a meagre salary of N15,000. After the introduction, I never returned. And I never applied for a marketing job ever again. |

Captain9ja:Nice write-up. You mentioned that the 1st beast (Lion with eagles wings) is UK/US; the 2nd beast (Bear) is Russia; and the 3rd beast (Leopard with fowls wings) is Germany/France. But you didn't mention what nation the 4th beast is. Could the 4th beast be China? |
Preciousgirl:The bible says: Hebrews 10:7 KJV Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. So there is a book written about our lives which means that everything is already pre-determined/predestined. Other bible verses that talk about the predestined will/purpose of God include: Jeremiah 10:23 KJV O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Proverbs 20:24 KJV Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? Psalm 139:2-3 KJV 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. Proverbs 19:21 ISV Many plans occupy the mind of a man, but the LORD’s purposes will prevail. Isaiah 46:10 KJV Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Psalm 33:11 KJV The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Psa 37:23 KJV The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. |

Preciousgirl:@topic It's a little of both for me. I'm looking forward to Jesus' return but at the same time, I'm a little scared of how it will be and hoping that whenever He comes I will be prepared. I try to live ready for His imminent return but sometimes it just feels as though the world won't end and things will just continue as they always have. Lord help me. Maranatha! |
MindHacker9009:Did I miss something here. The topic says SIX reasons why Jews don't believe in Jesus. Yet all I see is one reason (Reason #6). Where is Reason #1 to #5? |
Preciousgirl:One principal way the Holy Spirit speaks to us is by what is called the inward witness. You can see this in the bible: Romans 8:16 KJV The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Another way the Holy Spirit can speak to us is by visions/dreams. This can be seen in the bible: Acts 16:9-10 KJV 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. |

Matthew 6:19-34 KJV 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. |
Moving from Lagos to a cheaper city is worth it. I did it, so I am talking from experience. The cost of living is a lot cheaper. And you don't spend hours in traffic. Life is easy and you can now have extra savings. |
But now that we know the newly elected Pope to be American, Trump's picture as a pope now seems to me as an unwitting prophecy that the next pope will be American. |
