In today's world, there is a strong tendency for the believer to be conformed to this world. The bible clearly states that the believer should not be conformed to this world (Romans 12:2). The scripture states that we as believers should set our minds on things that are above and not things that are of this world (Colossians 3:2)

However, what we have today is not just the propagation of the much talked about 'prosperity gospel' but proclamation of an 'economic Jesus'. A Jesus that will save you from poverty to prosperity. Though there is nothing wrong with being economically and financially blessed by God as He may add (Matthew 6:33), the focus, motivation and desire of the gospel of the kingdom of God, should be about how Jesus Christ as saviour and Lord, is to deliver us from this perishing world and the devastation of the apocalyptic travails that are to come (and may have already come).

In Psychology, there is a concept called 'conformity'. It usually involves 'test subjects' that are seated in a certain arrangement. All the participants, except one, are told to intentionally say the wrong answer. The single one test subject among the participants is usually seated close to the end to allow him/her to hear the answers of the previous ones. Then when the turn of the test subject comes, it becomes a case of either 'calling it as it is' or 'calling it as the previous majority did'.

Bringing the above analogy home, today, the vast majority of believers perceive the gospel of Jesus Christ as if we're still in the old testament saying things like:
"If you are saved you should be rich.";
"If you are suffering, you are a sinner.";
"Abraham's blessings are mine."
Yes, Abraham's blessings are ours, but in the new testament, it's not entirely about economic wellbeing and financial prosperity. In reality, Jesus said it's about:
* taking up our cross;
* suffering for the advancement of the kingdom of God;
* setting our minds, hearts and desires for things above.

Unfortunately, today it's about:
* "How much do you have in your bank account?"
* "What car do you drive?"
* "Where do you live?"

I resigned from my last paid full-time job as a Consultant in August 2009 believing that God would provide another job for me as He had done before. However, days and weeks passed and no job. Months passed and still no job. I remember listening to a message by Joel Osteen referring to Job's trial to have lasted for a period of about nine (9) months. So I was encouraged that the 'storm' would soon be over after about nine (9) months.

However, to my utmost surprise, the nine (9) months turned to nine (9) years and still no job. I had literally applied for hundreds of job vacancies and attended dozens of interviews but still no acceptable job. My response to prayers of faith for a good job had progressed from "AMEN!" to "Amen oooo" to no answer at all because all the prayers seemed to not be working.

After reading the book 'How You Can Be Led By The Holy Spirit' by the late Kenneth E. Hagin, I started to realise that God wanted me to realise that I've been down that 'Consultant road' before and that God knows that's not where I want to be. It had taken me nine (9) years to realise this.

Fortunately, an opportunity showed up in the area of Missions where I also have 'unpaid' experience. And now I will be resuming paid employment in January 2019 after almost 10 years of unemployment.

Almost everything about Microsoft Corporation appears to be a part of an edifice. It has:

I only wish people using their tablets and phones in church as a bible or notepad, learn to put their devices on 'Flight Mode'. This will block the phone calls and Whatsapp messages that usually distract people in the house of God.

Shakespeare is commonly quoted as to saying "What's in a name? A rose by any other name will smell as sweet." However, scripturally, the above saying is not true. It is clear from the bible that there is a great deal of importance attached with the name one bears:
