What about Carpe Verde,Zambia and BurkinaFaso coach? what was Ethiopia performance in the nation cup? they could not even go beyond the group stage... Ethiopia 1 vs 1 Zambia Ethiopia 0 vs 4 BurkinaFaso Ethiopia 0 vs 2 Nigeria so i wonder how such coach is the best coach in Africa...seriously am beginning to loose respect for this this Sunday Oliseh,if you want the super eagles job,is this the best way to go about it? I have been noticing this guy right from the nations cup, that was how he castigate the super eagles before they played Ivory coast...if he wants to coach any team,he should start with Guinea,Gambia or Sudan, Keishi did it with Togo and Mali and he proved himself |
Sunday Oliseh has described Ethiopia's coach Sewnet Bishaw as one of the best on the continent. In a preview of Nigeria's upcoming World Cup qualifier against the Walya Antelopes on his personal website, the former Super Eagles midfielder practically described Bishaw as the best coach in Africa. "Ethiopia’s head coach Sewnet Bishaw is one of the best coaches in Africa (if not the best) based on what he has been able to achieve with this team and the materials available at his disposal," Oliseh wrote. "Very thoughtful in his remarks which even when seeming lose have a well thought objective behind every word." Oliseh warned the Stephen Keshi-led Nigerian team that beating Ethiopia will not be a walk in the park, adding that they were one of the best teams at the Nations Cup earlier in the year. "The team in my opinion was at the group stages of the Afcon 2013 the best African Team. "They were collective, physical, enterprising and one could see in the team that they had so many prepared schemes that they put up on display at all times and had they had a better striker would have qualified to the next round at the detriment of either Nigeria or Burkina Faso, Two teams who eventually got to the finals!" |
Nigeria will never,,i repeat never disintegrate... Those that want to disintegrate Nigeria should go to the Sahara desert and form their own country... I pray to see the day Nigeria will lift the world cup... Proudly naija boy |

Ethiopia are hoping to play two tough friendly internationals against Ghana and Cameroon before facing Nigeria in their 2014 World Cup play-off fixtures. The Walya Antelopes, who have 24 local-based players in camp in Addis Ababa, will have four more of their foreign-based internationals joining the camp within the next few days. Once coach Sewnet Bishaw has had a look at his full complement of player he will name his final 23-man squad to face the Super Eagles. The first of the two legged encounters will take place in Ethiopia on October 13 before the return Leg in Nigeria on November 16 in Calabar. Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 2-0 in Rustenburg on their way to winning the Africa Cup of Nations early in the year. |

Commentfrom: abdelkadir [Visitor] In sport play, victory or agony of defeat is always possible. Whoever thought Buster Douglas will knockout Mike Tyson in their heavy weight championship fight in Tokyo, Japan? Nobody picked Buster to win as far as I remember, and the odds were 55 to 1 against Douglas. Guess who won the fight? It was Buster Douglas. It is true that generally, West and North Africans play better football than East and South Africans. It is going to be a tall order for Ethiopia to upset Nigeria, but in sport play, every thing and anything is possible and that is why the game is played. The skill and ball dribbling ability of Supereagles is mind boggling. To render this talent ineffective is to overwhelm Nigerians with constant running at them and disrupt their set plays. Speed in Soccer negets ball dribbling ability. Walias best and only chance is to overwhelm Supereagles with SPEED for SPEED IS POWER!!!!!!! 09/17/13 @ 07:14 Commentfrom: yaRED [Visitor] FROM - ANIMAL PLANET ANTELOPE, a horned mammal of Africa and Asia. Commentfrom: Banda Geday IV [Visitor] Nigeria is reining champions of Africa and is a hard team to beat for any country. Win or loose we all are proud of our Ethiopian team getting as far as this. The future looks promising as we're back after 31 years of absence, and that against all odds. Well Done Ethiopia & Go Walyias! On a different note Id also like to take the opportunity to address all wicked eye & envious Ershitreans out there salivating to see Ethiopia fail: Your depression won't come to an end whether The Ethiopian team travel to Brazil or not as the Singa-A-P000rian nitemare aka IdnePESTnence is still in full throddle. If not let me remind you that your National team(s) x2 have defecated and are currently selling fake Chinese hand bags in Malta alternatively eating Fofu leftovers in Uganda asylum camps. 09/16/13 @ 16:09 Commentfrom: Senziro O [Visitor] @ Addis{visitor] Tesfaye an Eritrean? Why? Because he wants the Waliyas to win? Because he says Ethiopian players are the most beautiful? Your comment doesn't make sense. (If Nigeria wins)...The Only reason Nigeria could possibly win is because it is geographically closer to Brazil than Ethiopia :-) 09/16/13 @ 16:36 Commentfrom: TEDDY [Visitor] This Time will surely be the right one .We will see the Kids for the First Time in the 2014 Mundial ,SO NEXT YEAR IN BRAZIL !!!! Even the Nigerian Coach did admit during the late African Cup in SA that the only Team that he did really fear is of course the Wallias . 09/16/13 @ 17:01 Commentfrom: Faysal [Visitor] This is very exciting. We have come much farther than we ever dared to dream. Brazil, here we come!! The sky is the limit, Walyas! 09/16/13 @ 17:38 Commentfrom: Moh [Visitor] I am not wasting my time writing about Nigeria. I am sure We will be Champion in Brazil. The next world cup belongs to US. Remember my Words , it is our time. After the world Cup we will defeat WEYNE and we will be united for Ever. GOD BLESS ETHIOPIA! 09/16/13 @ 19:02 Commentfrom: Boka [Visitor] Let's not forget, in the last World Cup team Nigeria performance was an embracement to African foot ball. Nigeria used to be the team to watch back in the days. However, this is our time to shine. A new team has to quality to the World Cup to show that football in Africa is making a fine progress! Why always the usual teams have to qualify? I'm hoping for Ethiopia and Borkina faso to go through. 09/16/13 @ 19:39 Commentfrom: ፊታውራሪ Free [Member] Believe it or not i am happy to have Nigeria as our opponent. I preferred beating Egypt, but that has to wait for another time. Nigeria is the team we have to take care of now. As far as they are concerned, they have already qualified for the tournament and probably started buying tickets for Rio as well. Every time you have an opponent that underestimates you so much, the chance you will come out on top at the end is very high. In our last clash in South Africa, our team was deprived of the services of Adane Girma and Asrat Megersa. Our experience and confidence wasn't at its peak. And yet, we were very close to breaking them. They did not beat us with their superior footballing quality, they just got lucky. Thank God, we are fully healthy now and our boys have the confidence and most certainly the capacity to beat any team. In the last qualifying game, Adane who is the most important and influential player of the team, looked his usual self and I am sure he will start pulling the strings and making the deadly passes for Saladin and Getaneh. Defense is my only concern. In the CAR game, it looked porous and that team didn't have quality strikers like Nigeria. Couch Sewunet Bishaw must fix that. All in all, if our team capitalizes on its experience, strengths and the Nigerians' empty bravado, the road to Brazil will be ours. It is about time the world sees the football mad version of Ethiopia. Go Black-Lions!Walias! [Nice to see you back Free. Agree completely with your analysis] 09/16/13 @ 19:41 Commentfrom: kofi [Visitor] u all need to wake up and face reality for once, you all mfs ain't going no where. There is no way in the world u guys would beat Nigeria. The Nigerian coach was only been nice when he said ethiopa was the toughest opponent at the just concluded nations cup.Nigeria beat ivory coast in the quarter finals for Gods sake.Is ethiopa better than cote d ivoire??.Are u guys really serious??ethiopa aint done shit in African football and guess what..u all aint gon do shit again..no disrespect but u'all need to go get a counch,tv and some popcorn cos that's where the Ethiopian players would be watching the world cup.#truthhurts 09/17/13 @ 04:23 Commentfrom: Rommel [Visitor] Miracles or not,Ethiopia is not gonna be in Brazil 2014 world cup as participants 09/17/13 @ 04:24 |

The long awaited confrontation is to begin soon! GO WALIYAS! 09/16/13 @ 08:52 Commentfrom: Tesfaye [Visitor] The fact is : the draw took place in Egypt...an enemy country of Ethiopia. The Egyptians are happy not to see Ethiopia in Brazil. So, my fellpw countrymen, I see conspiracy here. The IOC and the UN along with the Morsi regime conspired to block Ethiopia's advance to the world cup. Waliya Antelopes will definitely beat Nigeria and shut all these world conspirators up. Go Waliyas! Go Antelopes Go Ethiopians! Show them what we are made of! Tesfay PS: In case you lose both games, It's OK. You will be remembered as the most beautiful team ever to attempt to qualify ! Nigerians are very physical, so try to avoid them and have cool heads. Kool heads will prevail. Ethiopia will win if they use running as the main weapon. God Bless Ethiopia. 09/16/13 @ 11:23 Commentfrom: Anchebe [Visitor] 1st game: Nigeria 2 Ethiopia 0 2nd game: Nigeria 4 Ethiopia 0 Your dream will be over soon. Focus on your DICTATOR/BUTCHER "governiment/TPLF" than football. Your hope was over even before the draw. There is no way the East African team could beat the West or North African team. Nigeria have been paired against Ethiopia in what many see as an easy draw for the African champions. Nigeria have met Ethiopia on seven occasions, and have won four of those encounters including a 2-0 victory in the final group game of this year's African Cup of Nations. The first-leg of the play-offs are expected to hold between October 11 - 15, while the return legs are scheduled for November 15 - 19, after which the aggregate winners will book a place at next year's World Cup in Brazil.Fifa has asked Nigeria and other African countries involved in the World Cup qualifying play-off to nominate a venue, match-day and kick-off time for their encounters by Friday. So which stadium will you suggest for the super eagles to play? For me i will go with Ahmadu Bello stadium... |

Nigerian fans prefer Ethiopia in World Cup play-offs The Walya Antelopes are the Super Eagles fans’ preference for Monday’s draw while the Teranga Lions are the least anticipated draw By Lolade Adewuyi Sep 15, 2013 7:20:00 AM Ethiopia national teamMany Nigeria fans anticipate a play-off draw with Ethiopia ahead of Monday’s seeding for the final 2014 World Cup qualifiers. In a poll conducted byGoal, 40.5% of fans would like the Super Eagles to be pitted against the Walya Antelopes, the least ranked team in Pot 2. The African champions will be in Pot 1 during Monday’s draw alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Algeria and Tunisia while Pot 2 will consist of Egypt, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Senegal and Ethiopia. Nigeria and Ethiopia have met in recent times with the Eagles defeating the Antelopes 2-0 in their final group game of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Another Afcon opponent that many Nigerians would like to see their team face are the Stallions of Burkina Faso who polled 23.7% of votes to place second. Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 4-1 in a friendly match played in Kaduna last week, their first meeting since the Afcon final ended 1-0 in the Super Eagles’ favour. Resurgent Egypt are the third most favoured team by fans with 13.8% of votes. The Pharaohs may not be the super power they used to be three years ago but they have slowly risen and won all their matches in the second round qualifying stage. Regular foes Cameroon and Senegal are the least favoured teams by Nigerian fans to be opponents of the Super Eagles with 11.2% and 10.8% respectively. Even though both sides have not been as dominant like in the past, they are seen as strong and could cause threats to Nigeria’s participation at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil. TWEETS @PeterTLionn: Any team but Egypt. They are in top, top form and a match with them would be a big gamble. @Hileymohbayo: A good team should always be ready for any team, any team should not scare us. So bring on any team. @kyle_krish: I think Burkina Faso will be our easiest opponent...we've beaten [them] twice so thrice won't make a difference. @hollakarm: I will like my darling Super Eagles to face Senegal and hope by 2014 we will be in the semi final of the World Cup. @KoladeAdeyeye: They should pair Nigeria with any team because am sure those guys will defeat any African team. The draw for the final playoff stage will take place at 12h00 (local Egypt time) on Monday, September 16. There will also be a draw for each match to determine which team plays host first. The home and away play-off matches will be played between 11-15 October (1st legs) and 15-19 November (2nd legs). |
With the World Cup qualifying stage nearing its end, some of the world’s most notable national teams still face a tough battle in order to reach Brazil 2014. Several sides have already booked their place in next summer’s competition – the likes of Japan, Australia, Iran, South Korea, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina, Costa Rica and the USA are already joining the hosts in their samba-themed festivities. However, several big names’ World Cup dreams still hang in the balance. These nations will need to secure wins in their last few games or face the reality of watching football’s biggest party from the comfort of shame of their living-rooms. England After a 0-0 draw in Ukraine earlier this week, England remain top of Group H. However, with just three points separating first from fourth place, the Three Lions still have it all to do. If they beat Montenegro at Wembley and Poland beat Ukraine, then Roy Hodgson's side will be all but qualified for the World Cup. England would be three points ahead of Poland with a superior goal-difference. But if they fail to do so, the final group match versus the Poles will be an all-or-nothing affair. Mexico Mexico have been present at every World Cup after Italia 90, where they were banned for fielding an over-age player in a youth competition. But they could fail to make the cut for next year. The Mexicans currently wallow in fifth place, behind Panama on goal-difference, with two games to go. They now face a three-way battle with Honduras and Panama in order to stand any chance of securing the third place play-off position. Uruguay 2010’s semi-finalists Uruguay could face an early elimination this summer after securing just 22 points in 14 fixtures. The South Americans, who had drawn their last two qualifiers at the Estadio Centenario, are now level with Ecuador, but remain fifth by virtue of their inferior goal-difference. In their two final fixtures they face Ecuador and then Argentina. Defeats in either game could destroy any dreams of automatic qualification. Portugal Portugal currently occupy second place in Group F, but qualification is far from guaranteed. Leaders Russia are separated from the Portuguese by a point with two games to play. Both face fixtures against minnows, with Russia travelling to Luxembourg and Portugal hosting Israel. A surprise victory for the Israelis would see them close to within two points of Portugal with a game to play. Qualification is far from a certainty for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. Sweden With two matches to play, the Swedes still need to perform as Austria sit in third place, just three points behind. They host Austria in their next fixture, and a win in this match would guarantee a second-place finish. A loss, on the other hand, could prove detrimental to their qualification chances |
Is he a black dude before dude mean a Man please FIFA correct me if I am missing something? Saintfiet as a \"white dude\", or a white Man ok he is Saintfiet as a \"yellow dude\", is that correct FIFA. I hope that will not remove point if it does FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter have to answer to me in the world court. if he have change Saintfiet from been a white man. We are waiting it time they should know that Africa have change not longer tolerate their hanky panky lest see how this go. |
Italy and Holland qualified for the World Cup with two games to spare, while Egypt wrapped up their group stage performance in style. Uefa TheCzechRepublicwent 1-0 up away toItalyon 19 minutes, and Mario Balotelli missed the opportunity to equalise with an open goal at his mercy. Giorgio Chiellini headed home for the Italians before Balotelli redeemed himself by scoring the winner. Meanwhile, Robin van Persie scored twice to pave the way to Brazil forHollandwith a tough 2-0 away win overAndorra. The Andorrans were no pushovers, and Holland had to struggle until the 49th minute to make a breakthrough. Van Persie is now just two behind Patrick Kluivert’s Dutch record of 40 goals. Englandstay top of Group H after a dull goalless draw away toUkraine. Roy Hodgson’s team are a point ahead of Ukraine and Montenegro, and need to win their final two games to guarantee a place at the World Cup. Germanyhad an easy victory over theFaroeIslands, but still need two points to qualify after Sweden beat Kazakhstan 1-0. Arsenal duo Per Mertesacker and Mesut Özil made it 2-0, before Thomas Müller added a third. FrancebeatBelarus4-1 at home – although the visitors led 1-0 at half-time and 2-1 after an hour, with Hugo Lloris at fault for both goals and needing Franck Ribéry twice to equalise. Samir Nasri and Paul Pogba added two more to hand France a somewhat messy win. France are now level on points with Spain at the top of group I, although the latter have a game in hand. Switzerlandneed a win in one of their two remaining matches to finish top in Group E, after Fabian Schaer scored twice with his head – both from Gokhan Inler free-kicks – to earn them a 2-0 win inNorway The Swiss are unbeaten in 12 matches, including friendlies, and have a five-point lead at the top of the group. RussiabeatIsrael3-1 at home to move to the top of Group F. A win in their final two matches – against Azerbaijan or Luxembourg – will forcePortugalinto the play-offs. CAF Their were two African matches played to wrap up CAF qualifying. AlgeriabeatMali1-0, after a solitary goal by El Araby Soudani, although going into the match they had already secured their place in the play-offs, ahead of Mali, Benin and Rwanda in Group H. It was a fine night forEgypt, with Mohamed Aboutrika scoring on his 100th appearance for the Pharoahs in a 4-2 win overGuinea. Egypt had already won Group G, but were looking for a win to complete the group stage with a 100 percent record, with six wins from six matches. Concacaf USAandCostaRicaqualified from the Concacaf region, leavingMexicoin danger of missing out. USA move to the top of their six-team qualifying group and make their seventh straight World Cup with a 2-0 win over Mexico. Eddie Johnson headed home from Landon Donovan’s corner early in the second half, and Donovan added a second from close range in the 78th minute. HondurasandPanamadrew 2-2 shortly after, confirming USA’s place. Costa Ricadrew 1-1 withJamaica, a result which bags them one of the three automatic places in the Concacaf group. Honduras lie third on 11 points, three ahead of Mexico and Panama. Panama are currently fourth, equal on points with Mexico but ahead on goals scored. The team finishing fourth in the qualifying group faces a two-leg play-off against New Zealand, the winners of the Oceania qualifying group. The group has two games remaining. Conmebol Lionel Messi scored twice asArgentinaearned a comfortable 5-2 win overParaguay. Messi’s two penalties, and goals from Sergio Aguero, Angel di Maria and Maxi Rodriguez, see Argentina top the qualifying group. Meanwhile, late goals from Edinson Cavani and Cristian Stuani handedUruguaya 2-0 victory overColombiaand kept them on track to qualify. Uruguay are fifth in the group with 22 points from 14 matches, and as things stand are guaranteed at least a play-off place, while Colombia remain second. Ecuadordrew 1-1 withBoliviain La Paz to keep fourth place. AndVenezuelakept their slim hopes of reaching their first World Cup alive with a 3-1 overPeruin Puerto La Cruz. The result removes Peru from contention. |
