Im not sure if they will let you open a bank account in texas becos you havent spent up to 30 days there. yvete & olawalay will know about that
why dont you leave the money in ur gtb until you get to california then open a student account with the bank on campus becos most banks charge monthly service fee of $4 or $10. mine is wells fargo with no charge.
i just received money from home last week & when i went to buy a walmart money order they told me that i cant cash it until 24hrs so i cashed it the nxt day
i still keep money in my gtb becos i dont cash everything at once so i can save & reduce my spending
if u want $100 or so, u dont have to cash everything

olarwarlay: @Kunlebal - Yes, you can only open a bank account after 30 days in Texas. Make sure you get to know the terms and conditions because almost all the accounts has a monthly charge. I opened a student account with no monthly charge though, you can also do that but be sure to confirm before doing that.

Also, the best way to get money from your GTB card is by doing cash back at Walmart. That's what I use too and it's quite easy and fast.

@domex, you are on the right track. This is my advice, start reading from Part4 cos u will see lot of interviews transcript from there n please be prayerful n be bold when answering VO's questions, the Lord is your strength.
@gracious17, you can go with the sponsoring/waiver letter to the embassy, when VO ask u who will pay for your studies, tell him or her that u have tuition waiver n show him or her the letter and also u have sponsorship from so n so in nigeria, but please make sure you go with your sponsor Bank Statement Oº°˚˚°ºo very important cos TUITION WAIVER can be withdraw anything. So sponsor bank statement is very important. You too should read from Part 4 to 5. All the BEST

Computer science gained admission at the university of central oklahoma, wrote toefl, scored 66, credit in all waec result and finished in 2010, have an uncle in new jersey but I won the 2013 annual university scholaship for the company where I work. S̶̲̥̅Ơ̴̴͡ its the company that's sponsoring me.

A friend gave me one FRSC no that I should call him, after calling the guy said 20k for two weeks but what I will receive first is temporally licence, that the main licence will come from abuja btw 2months to 5months. I checked out their profile on collegeboard...he then asked me what year I graduated from sec school..I told him last year.. then he asked for my SAT N TOEFL SCORES and later asked for my statement of result from secondary school.. he returned it and asked who was going to sponsor me..I told him my dad and he asked for his bank statement.. checked something on his pc n told me he wasn't going to give me visa. :-'( ...gave me a paper to read and told me I was refused because my denial was under section of can't proof a strong tie to my foreign country.
