If you are a 2nd or more time applicant, one of the ways you can know your application is going fine is when you get a medical pass but it's not a guarantee you will be approved cos ircc can refused application at any stage.

However for 1st time applicant, because u are yet to have your medical, they will prefer to proceed with your background check 1st so as not to allow you spend money doing medical should you fail background check. So 1st time applicant will need to wait till medical request after which ppr drops or if you did medical advance it will just drop after their normal 12 weeks. Only 2nd time or more applicant enjoys that medical passed notification because we already did medical before.

Note that if your application will not be favorable at 1st review by an ircc officer, even if your medical result is good, you will never get medical pass update because that update is suggesting process is going on fine which is not the case for an ineligible applicant.

Don't fall into the IRCC trap. The impression they have now is that many if you don't really have thr money that you claim you have in your statement, hence the rush for SOWP for your spouse so that he/she will be working to pay for your tuition fees or living cost. The impression they have about Nigerians now is terrible. This is from a reliable source. You may be asked to present the evidence of payment of full tuition fees. Somebody is now in a serious soup. He submitted the SOWP for his wife. IRCC is now requesting the payment of full tuition fees or else the already approved Study Permit will be revisited and reviewed. Canada is not smiling now

Go and pay your full tuition fees or risk refusal. Also make your proof of fund a bit above LICO for the size of your family. Spousal Open Work Permit is now a serious matter now with IRCC. Our people have spoilt things. Many students are still owing their respective schools tuition fees after they told IRCC that they had all the funds. They said some student now rely on the work done by their spouse to pay their tuition fees. They said this explains the rush and hurry hurry for SOWP rather than family unification. That's why the opposition Conservative Party is accusing the Liberal Government of bringing in "poor and low class" students to Canada

Maybe you filled a wrong form. You do not need an employment letter for open work permit.

My husband currently has a permanent job that he will be resuming on Monday (although he will still be on probation for the next 3 months). What documents do you suggest I send for the IRCC request? I have 1 week to respond.

You don't need much. Just pick your passport and buy the ticket. Tell the Officer that since you have SS in progress, you will apply for Open Work Permit inside Canada. Since you are coming to work, proof of fund is not required. Just hold your spouse account statement in Canada as the person sponsoring you.

My wife is a Canadian citizen with good income, she did all the applications for me using her bank statements, insurance etc. We decided to apply for TRV pending SS approval. PCC not required for temporary residence applications. RCMP does the criminality checks for them. But for permanent residence applications, you will definitely need it.

I read widely and I maintain that PCC is a very important document for a work permit. The fact that some visas are approved without them does not mean it’s not important. You are right, the VO may bypass it based on some other considerations and go ahead with approval. Whereas, in some instances when it is included, the VO may be convinced that you do not have a bad record and complete a decision based on that.

Anyone going to work should ordinarily show a clean criminal and medical record. If you can afford it, it’s better to include it. Thanks.
