Seun: Unless you're willing to do a lot of research you should stick with an affordable high quality dog food. If you want to mix your dog's food yourself you must provide meat, organs, and bone. The meat provides protein, the bone provides calcium, and the organis provide vitamins and minerals. If you feed too much organs, your dogs could experience an overdose of oil-soluble vitamins such as vitamin A and Vitamin D (for example, liver contains a lot of vitamin A, so if more than 10% of your dogs' diet is liver then they at risk of Vitamin A overdose which is nasty) If you don't feed bones, then your dogs will suffer from calcium deficiency, so at least 10% of their diet (up to 20%) must be bone. Bones will also make your dogs' stool firm. Alternatively, you can give them calcium tablets which will prevent calcium deficiency but their stools will remain soft. And the rest should be meat/skin/fat/cartilage which provides protein and fat and some vitamins. The ideal ratio is said to be 80% meat/fat/skin/cartilage, 10% organs, and 10% bone. But feeding up to 20% bone and up to 15% organs should still be ok. If you know that you don't have time to sort all of the above issues out with your calculator and kitchen scales, please just continue to buy commercial dog food.

that is what i have been doing though
at times in the morning i feed them only dog food or organs..lunch mixing of the canned food and organs,there are alot of bones,so i mix them together same for dinner
their stool at first instance waz watery but now they are firm..

that why i mentioned if,
have not yet come to the term of mixing a breed

now people say it very rare to find a pure breed unless imported..
it has now gone to the extent that the rate of mix breed is very high in nigeria,even among the breeders to make money...this is nigeria..even though i sell mix breed.lt doesnt affect me at all..a nigerian man marrying a chinese person..how will the children look like?.
i cant kip 8 puppies..kiping 2 or 3 will do..then sell the rest at any price that dim fit me.
and who said they all will be ugly..the pix i uploaded,someone's dog above named tyson..they say it a mix breed of GSD and causacian,doesnt that dog look good?

Like i said this is nigeria..you have two options either you want to buy a mix breed or pure breed..either you want to kip a mix breed or pure breed.

I hate the fact when people say ma dog is not a pure breed alsatian but a mix or not well trained..GSD is my favorite..with my bro about to bring a pure female and male gsd from cyprus,pix will be uploaded soon and some reasons are best known to me..

oluomoadebayo: Well I would take quality GSD over a rottie and an high energy suit my lifestyle. I don't know your purpose of owning a dog but i remember dashing my rottie out free of charge to a friend and he is a quality rott with boxed head. Good GSD is not easy to find, even in Europe you would have to pay the breeder prior the delivery if you are looking for the best bloodline.

my younger bro in cyprus tend to bring a male and a female GSD here,buh it so damn expensive

Eveezy: My point exactly, GSDs re the most versatile dogs, they re what I refer to a jack of all trade, an all round dog, pure GSDs still remains the world expensive dogs, when looking @ the general market, lyk I said earlier, d breed ve been spoilt here in 9ja, nd dts y most pppeople dnt value it

raw or boiled which do you think it better?

recently i have been feeding my dog with simba,but i now switch to feeding them with fish [eel] organs and chicken organs from the market which are relatively very cheap,i realize they love eating the boiled organs than the food tin[simba] bought from the store.it seem to be their favorite.
will it affect their growth and be prone to disease when they eat the organs continuously..

now i do mix the canned food with the organs and boil..

oluomoadebayo: Are you referring to Nigeria market price or the quality of the dog as a whole ? A good GSD is not in the same class with a rottie. Nigerian loves big and intimidating dogs but not effectiveness . I'm once a rottie breeder and I gave out my dogs out for free when I tried another breed.

assuming i have a male and a female alsatian dog,now their life span is between 13-15 years approximately or maybe,do you think as a pet owner you dont have to benefit from it? spending an enormous amount of money on a dog for 13 years without any benefit but just as a pet,everyone has their own reason and choice..so i might need to generate some income from my dog to continuously take care of them for their food or the medicals,
i am a dog and cat lover,not planning to become a breeder..you gave me reasons on why i should cross..it coz of their height,aggressiveness,thick fur,muscular body,and socialization.
i want to cross and kip the dog for myself,there are 3 female alsatian dog,two crossing with their bloodline and other three crossing with any breed.if not properly taken care of i sell or dash out..

adewasco2k: I uploaded my Dog's pix and every body were like he was not 4 months old then.... now i know why, most of them are use to dogs that are under fed...i feed my dog Royal Canin (German Shepherd Junior) and the 12KG bag cost me more than 15,000 naira which i do buy approximately every 24days and i do feed him a whole chicken weekly, i feed him chicken organs also when i remember to buy from the market.

the dog is fully grown,do you feed him fish organs?

mayorall: Yes there is. But might affect the growth. You can cook indomie plus egg, plus fish to attract the dog. Same thing applies to Rice. But be prepared for poo.
