MrHistorian:
Why is it so hard for this set of people to accept their shortcomings?

Why try to preserve an illusionary ego that doesn't even exist?

Innoson compromised its loan agreement and chose to play the 'usual' ethnicity victim card to generate public sympathy that will benefit no one!

Shior.

Career › Banking And The Neo-slave Trade. Part 1 by Kwenty(op): 9:22pm On Dec 19, 2017
BANKING AND THE NEO-SLAVE TRADE. PART 1

I heard of slavery in Libya and people's reaction towards the urgly development. The question is. .... Has slavery actually been eradicated? If your answer is yes, then you are WRONG. Haven keenly observed the magnitude of human resources abuse in the banking sector of the Nigerian economy, I have come to realise that Africa's most dreaded enemy in so many centuries ago (slave trade), still dwells among us.
The unfortunate and unpresidented increase in unemployment rate in this geographical entity called
BUHARILAND, orchestrated by corruption and bad leadership has given so much opportunities to some greedy and self seeking individuals (in the guise of banking) to take advantage of our promising, vibrant but desperate job-seeking graduates in order to actualize their selfish financial desires. Do you call it brain - drain? That's your choice of words.

Ponder on this scenario:

In a typical branch of a commercial bank in Nigeria (name witheld), out of between 25- 30 staff (depending on the size of the branch) only 4 are full-time employees of the bank, popularly referred to as CORE staff. I call them slave masters. The rest are 'Neo-slaves'. These are closely supervised and regimented amidst constant threat for sack, even with their strong university degrees. A neo-slave works from 7am -7pm, mondays to Fridays, sometimes sundays and must ensure to submit his/her mobile phones before clinching his/her work cubicle.
They are put through the rigour of work as their failure is tantamount to the failure of the entire bank. They are on the driving seats of the bank's operations and services across all branches and their performance is used to measure the performance of their masters. If a 'Neo-slave' fails on his/her duties, the effect is felt even in the head office of the bank. This is an indication that this category of staff are the very tools the bank uses to achieve her fundamental corporate goal---profit maximisation.

Ironically, and most unfortunately, neo-slaves are paid a salary package that is only enough to feed a family of two for 15 days. A peanut, an onions salary - you grab it, you open it and you cry. The same way a slave (in ancient times) would be given a quantity of food just enough to keep him strong to til the master's field. The same way a dog would be given a "chop" of the very meat it brings from the bush. They are major stakeholders in times of planting and foriegners in times of harvest.

Monkey de work, Bamboo de chop.

Hopeless and career destroying bank. Once you are not a core staff in that bank; you don't have a career path. Beginners can manage it while they keep searching for a more permanent job.

Let him try out the marketing job while he keeps his 800k intact. It's good to be independent considering what employers of labour are doing to youths in this country, but establishing and sustaining a business in Nigeria is not easy either.
One good thing about marketing job is the exposure and opportunity to try out other things. With that he can get clue of a business he can invest in while doing his job.

I like your courage . You don't need much capital to start little Okrika business. With 10k, you can start by going to those markets where they open bales and do selection. You can also buy clearance and stay at bustops and resell at cheap cheap prices. People get daily meals through it. While you do the biz ; you keep applying for jobs. God will definitely provide one.

I understand why your banker friend needs additional source of income. Salary is always hardly enough coupled with the fact that the job is never secured especially for contract staff.
But he needs to be very careful in establishing a biz he wont be actively involved in, because he might eventually open it for other people to squander. If he is in marketing dept, he can try out cement purchase and supply based on his location and capital too.

Men are very difficult to please in this life. You see your mentality. Because she slept with your friend, she is labelled cheap and your foolish friend captured the moment on video. When a woman is going out with a man for money, she is called a gold digger. If she have sex for money, she is a prostitute and if she eventually have sex for no cost, she becomes cheap.
You people should leave women alone for goodness sake.

The death rate from domestic violence in Nigeria now is so alarming. It used to be men battering and killing their wives ; but seems the table has turned now.
Violence is not a way out of any marital issue. Dialogue and quitting if worst comes to worst is always advisable to avoid all this stories that touches the heart. Nobody deserves to die in the name of marriage.

Education › Simple Ways To Show Courtesy by Kwenty(op): 9:58pm On Nov 17, 2017
SIMPLE WAYS TO SHOW COURTESY

1. In case you miss a call, drop a message as soon as possible if you're unable to call back.

2. Pay back borrowed money as soon as possible no matter how little the amount is. Do not opt to clear your personal needs first at the cost of your lender's personal needs. It's BAD MANNERS!
Don't assume that they don't need it, and never make them ask you for it.

3. Do not ask for a lift and make the person wait for you. Instead, position yourself at a convenient place so that they do not have to divert from their route.

4. Turn the volume down when you're watching video, playing music or playing a game on your phone in a public place or, better yet, use headphones.

5. Don't press your phone or use headphones when someone is having a conversation with you. Unplug the headsets from your ears even if nothing is playing and give them your undivided attention.

6. When using someone else's phone or computer, don't go through their stuff without permission.

7. Always leave the last piece of meat for the person who bought it unless they insist they won't eat it.

8. Don't use loudspeaker of the phone to have a two person conversation unless you are unable to hold the phone.

9. When someone else cooks for you, offer to help clean the kitchen.

10. If you stay the night at someone's house, make the bed or fold the blankets when you leave.

11. Don't let your arguments escalate in public. Find some place else to continue arguing where others won't feel uncomfortable or interested.

12. If you ask your friends for help with some house work, feed them as payment.

13. When someone buys you food or coffee, try to return the favour within a week (if you can).

14. When you borrow someone's car, fill up the tank when you return it. If you've had it for a prolonged period of time, service it as a way of saying 'thank you.'

15. Whatever you borrow, return it in its best condition as a sign of gratitude.

16. Don’t pick up a call while you are engaged in conversation without excusing yourself.

17. Make sure you don't forget to return that book you borrowed.

18. Do not take up a house pet and neglect to feed and care for it.

19. When someone gives you a gift, no matter how small it is or the way it was presented, even if it isn't up to your expectation, just say 'Thank You.'

20. 'I'm sorry', 'forgive me', 'thank you', 'pardon', 'excuse me', 'I understand',.. are all courtesy phrases that should forever be in one's vocabulary. They display manners and manners breed 'favour'.

21. Do not always be on the receiving end of a relationship. Try to also give, no matter how small.

22. When you have someone older than you who is friendly and makes himself free with you, speak to them with respect.

23. Don't feel too big to be corrected or reject good advice because you feel it's your life... Life is a ring; the next blow can come anytime.

24. When you receive messages on social media, try and reply. Don't feel too proud, maybe because you are a celebrity. Remember, no one knows tomorrow.

25. Do not send someone a 'call me back' or 'pay forward' when you are the one in need of their assistance, or worse still, want to borrow from them. Show some courtesy and fund that.

I Married A Ghanaian Man Based In Nigeria, He Used Me For Green Card & Became A Demon On Arrival

My Ghanaian Husband Lied To Me He’s A Nigerian, Used Me For US Green Card, Just Found Out He’s Married

Warning Message From Heartbroken American Woman

I married an African man in Nigeria that lied to me about being Nigerian he is actually Ghanaian and he used me for a green card. Once he got here in the US with me he became cold, mean, distant, and he showed no love or friendship. He is now divorcing me, trying to get alimony, and wants me to sell my home and give him half of all my assets I established before he came to the US.

He was no longer the man I fell in love with and played like he loved me but instead a demon! He lists his logo as Devil’s Ipad on his phone and IPad Pro! He asked me to buy him a machete the first two months he arrived to cut our grass and I did. After he got everything he wanted out of me and distanced me from my children, family, and friends he became lazy, rude, and extremely verbally abusive.

We never had intimacy once he got here he was cheating with many women and maybe even men. He is an opportunist and has no remorse. He told me he no longer had the machete and come to find out he was lying again as he hid it in his brand new car!! Was he planning on hurting me? I believe so!! God has protected me!

He hacked my WiFi and camera security system as the alarm installer has already told my attorney he wants to testify how this man I married propositioned him to show him how to wipe our cameras and not tell me.

This man simulated a suicide attempt, told people I was abusing him and I’m crazy, and come to find out his name is not even his real name and he has a wife in Ghana that went to go live with her family once he came here.

He is so cruel!! Be careful!! There are many desperate and ruthless people in west Africa that despise Americans and think they are smarter than you!.
Nairaland General › Nigerians In Their Late Thirties And The Labour Market by Kwenty(op): 3:50am On Nov 09, 2017
Does it mean that people in their late thirties can not get a meaningful job in Nigeria, even with many years of job experience in smaller organisations? What prompted this question is the fact that most organisations age limit for experienced hire in Nigeria is 32 years and 26 or 27 years for freshers.
