Good. I hope so.
I will check this soon.

KunleyY19:
Hopefully we will get the second one before 10. grin

Maybe you can post the picture of your qus2. it will help me understand what you are asking.

In this qus2, the major problem is to solve for x.
if you can solve for x, the rest will be easier for you.

TIP:
Mrd = (Fs*d) - (Fc1*a1) -(Fc2*a2)
a1 = hf/2

find a1; a2; Fc1; Fc2, Fc,
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 11:14am On Jun 07, 2020
ok. i will be waiting

KunleyY19:
Okay we will try it again... That's why we were asking for the Fcu and Fy we used 15 and 435...
The Other question the issue we are facing with number 2 is how we can get the Beff because it's an isolated T-beam and the bending moment envelope is not favourable as the contraflexure points are hard to come by of which we could have taking it as Lo.
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 7:39am On Jun 07, 2020
KunleyY19 re-calculate.. i think you mixed the fcd up with that of question 2.
To find Fcd for the qus (1), C30/37 =
Fcd = (30/1.5) = 20MPa
Fyd = (B500/1.15) = 435MPa

Also, for your equilibrium, re-calculate it
For example, you wrote this
Fc 1 0.2Fcdbwd =267kN,
but when i substituted Fcdbwd with their values, its different answer i'm getting. Try substitute their values.
Same with Fc2

I'm proud of you. You worked till the end. re-calculate everything till the end again. i have a bonus price for you for attempting it till the end.

Waooooh.. you tried.. I will check it through.... Sorry, I was busy later yesterday and didn't check this topic...

And try also the second part.

Try it.

paul100:
No problem
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 2:47pm On Jun 06, 2020
Yeah.. try involve your textbook.. but later, you will discover that it's actually simple..
just to follow normal required steps.

Abso1uteZero:
I might have to burst out my textbook for this.
This calc no be wetin Dem dey carry for head.
BRB.

Well, I understand but BIM is the future. The mostly used ones are autocad and they are not that much powerful when compared to Revit. In Revit, one can do almost all the stuffs AutoCAD can do..
And tekla is very good. Likewise scia... Really, the FG needs to update the educational curriculum of our system

PDSI:
grin grin you must be kidding righthuh SCIA is not even widely used here... The awareness level on the use of BIM is even low especially in Civil Engineering... I just concluded a research topic "BIM, A necessity for the 21st Century Civil Engineer in Nigeria" and the index of the research showed that the awareness level is currently set at 29.4%... So you see Just set a challenge on widely used software's here...
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 2:15pm On Jun 06, 2020
You can try to solve for it were it's applicable.

PDSI:
What's the Fcu and Fy pleasehuh
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 10:46am On Jun 06, 2020
Maybe we can start with the simple ones like scia?

PDSI:
We are waiting for the software own.
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 10:45am On Jun 06, 2020
Okay.

Mr2kul:
I can't do this one though
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 9:10am On Jun 06, 2020
If you have done strength of materials in university, then i think you can try it solve it but this is Civil students stuff...

paul100:
Is it only for civil engineering students because all engineering students are taking bending moments and centriod in 200level
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 9:08am On Jun 06, 2020
You can try as well. I can only drop question on civil for now and maybe later i will consider other areas

yusman14:
I am not a civil engineering student..
But I can try to my best ability..
Why can't you drop questions on mathematics, engineering mechanics or thermodynamics question??
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 8:59am On Jun 06, 2020
If you can solve it, then you are free to participate.

Mr2kul:
Please is it open for only Civil Engineers?
what about other Engineering courses, like Chemical?
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 11:38pm On Jun 05, 2020
If you are less busy, you are can participate
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 10:13pm On Jun 05, 2020
Okay. i will consider doing for mathematics and maybe for a BIM software like Tekla/Revit

okay. use it.. BS code is almost same with EC
Loris576:
i can only use bs code sir
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 8:31pm On Jun 05, 2020
yes. they are EC...
Loris576:
are the equations euro code ?
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 7:33pm On Jun 05, 2020
I'm still waiting, if you have any question, ask me.
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op):
No one got the answers.. only Mykel51 attempted it but he didn't finish it. And it's discouraging that people are not participating. There are many civil/structural students/engineers on nairaland that can participate and see it as fun while earning.

Loris576:
Okay..but did you give the winner of the previous one the prize
Education › Re: Civil Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 5:26pm On Jun 05, 2020
i will be checking this topic every 30 mins.

maybe you will like to try this? Sanquine

you can participate boscho

This is my third Topic.

It's about T-beam Reinforcement.

And as part of supporting my fellow engineering students, that are at home due to COVID-19, I will try to make us busy while earning little money.

The price for the question in blue ink is €15 while the price for the question in black ink is €10.

I have included the answers of the black ink question.

what I need from you are the steps.

Only the first 2 people to get the answers correctly before tomorrow Sunday, 10:00pm Nigerian time will get the price.

NOTE: The Shear force and bending moment diagrams are not needed. You can skip it. Only the Bending moment calculation you can use because of the M max.
I have extended the deadline.

Education › Re: Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 10:16am On May 24, 2020
Okay.
I will try to extend it till end of today.

Loris576:
Is it still on ?
I can solve it
I wont want to miss the 20 euros
Education › Re: Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 4:51pm On May 23, 2020
Ok.

Mykel51:
Design of Structural Elements by Mosley is my reference here...

The formula above for X is not clear enough. Please can you rewrite it in a bigger way.

Education › Re: Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 4:17pm On May 23, 2020
I will give the price as long as it's within the timeframe I gave. And the answers are correct.

boscho:
My own problem is assurance of getting d prize u mentioned, I will do it easily
Education › Re: Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 4:13pm On May 23, 2020
I have shown how I got
{lim = 0.617

And I have included the formula to help you solve the remaining...
Let me know if you need any more information.

Mykel51:
Ok

Education › Re: Engineering Students, Can You Solve This? by labas370(op): 3:59pm On May 23, 2020
The concrete strength you don't need to convert it. They have already been converted. Fcd and Fyd.. so just use them as they are there.. but what I might add to help your calculations... I will try to add the photo.

Mykel51:
An using the BS code... getting different values...

Kindly recheck the parameters you gave especially that concrete strength...
