crownprince2017: Is like some people just don't understand simple arithmetics, I registered on Sunday paid on Monday and today is Wednesday, how many days is that, u said they have office that worth billions of naira, what is my concern with that? Pls stop being emotional over a clear injustice, other people are complaining of similar issue and you are here saying something else. anyways i am escalating the matter already until I get my money. If they have billions why are they holding on to my 100k change since I told them that I am not interested in their services again, na by force? They told me the account will be working within 24-48hrs and the couldn't meet up, is that not a breach of contract. If that money is with me do you know how much I would have used it to earn?
You’re being rude to me but I understand so no offense taken. I’m also a new user like you and when i opened my account with them last week or so, it took about 4 days before it was up and running.
I understand the frustration of not being able to key into an opportunity you’ve spotted and you’re having to watch the price go up everyday lol. Maybe you are even being protected. That’s how i thought they were dulling me when i wanted to buy dangote sugar at 60 iish or so. When the account was open, i finally got it at 68 naira (including their fees) but how much is it today? I wish they had delayed with my account a little more 😁. I would have bought more units at the current price. Anyways i know things will even out in a matter of weeks.
Long story short, calm down. You will regret that refund if it is done because it’s a wonderful platform.
If you visit their office physically, you will know that they won’t scam you for 100k
crownprince2017: Guys meritrade are trying to scam me, I opened an account with them on Sunday then on monday I wanted to trade but I couldn't fund the account via my account through my dashboard, so I chatted them up and the agent sent me their company accounts to send money, after that she told me that I will see the money soon, after few hours I didn't see the money, I chatted them up again and the other agent said the money I paid is part of the requirements to get my account running then I asked again what is the time frame to get my account running she said 24 to 48hrs the time frame has elapsed no account. so I told them to refund my money to my which I Mailed them regarding that uptil now nothing. I chatted them not quite long the lady first deny the date I sent the money but I forwarded the receipt she now said she wanted to do follow up on my email regarding a refund, after wasting alot of time she said thanks for holding and nothing, after a while she said they are close for the day that till tomorrow again. My 100k is with them, they are not willing to refund the money, I already told them that am not more interested in their services again. Pls advice me.
Calm down. You are not being scammed. Meritrade for me is superb and i even chat with their customer care at odd hours. Infact its on the meritrade website i realised that chatting with customer care actually works. I always ignore that button on other platforms.
The way it works is this:
1. Your meritrade account is opened immediately. 2. Meristem applies to Open a CSSC account for you. 3. Your CSCS account is opened. 4. The account takes about 2 days or less to be verified by CSCS. 5. Your account is then funded. 6. Remember to opt out of direct cash settlement so than when you make a sale, the proceeds are credited to your meritrade account and you can buy other stocks with it immediately. If you dont choose this option, Proceeds of sale will be credited to your bank account after 3 days. 7. At some point during the verification, you would not be able to log in.
Meristem occupies a multi billion naira towers at ikoyi and would not scam you of 100k.
It’s a new account and that’s why it’s taking this long.
Streetinvestor2: make sure you use price limit then add thrr commission. They should be sending you contract note which shows the break down to your mail. You can demand that if they are not doing it
Oh wow I didn’t even know that’s what the price limit is for. Will do next time. Thanks soo much
BabsO2: Rounded up to a whole percent 2% is charged. Hence if stock price is N100. You will be charged N102 rounded off to the largest whole number. The real charge is actually less that 2% just trying to make it simple to understand. That's why I rounded it to the higher whole number.
I noticed that whenever i buy shares on the Meritrade platform, the price paid is always higher than the last quoted price i saw, leading to automatic initial loss. Is this normal?
yMcy56: In my humble opinion, I don't see anything wrong in the stocks you bought if you have the plan to wait them out or if you're a long termer. SUGAR, Fidelity, Transcorp are good. Taking risk in OANDO is equally not bad if you already weigh your options, knew the risks involved and you play safe. Many loaded this same stock @3/4/5/5.50 even 6. In NSE, one can never say Never. We've seen the worst performed best (or exit as the case may be) and..... best becoming a laggard or give little returns on investment or even stagnant. Examples plenty, but make I stop there.
Lol thanks for this. I was starting to think i did something wrong o

Wow i really like this song and the beat is fire. From the lyrics i can tell you are an intelligent and enlightened person especially because you mentioned some concepts ( dopamine, entitlement mentality, inner peace, etc)
I checked out your other songs and thats where i heard you talk about inner peace.
Keep going, I’m a fan. Just to let you know, I’ve been a hiphop head since the early 90’s so I’m hard to impress but you impressed me
No point being negative or else no one will invest. I also believe that no two people share same fate, so I can’t use your experience to forecast my own future.
Again, key is to invest what you can loose and not loose sleep.
Lets also not act like there aren’t people making money here or you saying i made a mistake by investing?
Samantha124: On Saturdays I usually wake up early in the morning to deep clean the house while doing the laundry and playing some music, I can't do house chores without either playing music or the radio.. .. While the washing machine will be doing its job, I'll be cleaning the house.
It's only when I'm done that I'll start making breakfast because I like working with an empty stomach.
After doing those things, I can do whatever I like for the entire weekend.
Do you normally fart on empty stomach? Also, how do you handle it when in bed with hubby and you fart?
Bbbwings: The judges are already in the pocket. Time to load oando. We must partake of the corruption.
Why is the incumbent’s victory good for Oando? What happens when an order is placed outside of the trading window for the day? Will charges still apply?
Capitas7: Nice calculation! I put those lines in bold because they summarize why there is much more to 25years of building wealth than being lucky to enter NGX in 2020. We might as well assume that he started with 5k in 1998, and got things right to build it to 50M in 2020. Many minds will lose the motivation to invest in this market when the current euphoria is gone. That man's response has a lot of wisdom in it. He has defined his own wealth (not to be compared with anyone's (not even Dangote). If the current events on NGX is a true representation of how the capital market works even just 50% of the time, all the businessmen/women in Computer village, Alaba and the rest would have closed their shops decades ago to be following NSEMPA thread day and night. 25 years has seen the Dotcom bubble in Western markets, the 2008 recession, COVID19 pandemic, the many bonus shares of FBNH and its rise and fall through N33 and N4, the IPO's of defunct companies, the delisting of companies perceived to have potentials, the greater than 10X devaluation of the Naira, the hike in fuel price from N40 to N600, and many other economic stories. We cannot discount all the decisions that an investor made during each of these events, the choice to keep servicing a loan just because money needs to be keyed into generational low opportunities, predicting when cash is king or when to sow, calculating when to invest for dividends or capital growth, the choice of alternative investment decisions such as real estate, money market, forex etc, the choice of being greedy when others are careful or vice-versa, and many more. Compared to all I have listed, a 2020-born investment portfolio is a virgin. I know of many people who saw the upward movement of stock prices in NYSE during the later days of COVID19 coupled with the certainty of perpetual Naira devaluation and sold/liquidated their Naira- denominated property and investments to become "traders". Many are still bagholders till date. We see new monikers asking everyday how to transfer their "abandoned" holdings to new stockbrokers houses or how to open accounts. A question to ask is why did some of these investors run away from the market after the 2008 recession, only to come back when the ovation is loud (another wrong move anyway)?
NB: This is not intended to attack the calculation nor to question the post - I respect both. If I come back in 14 years time (my own 25 years of investing) to share how successful I have been through Grace, hardwork, smart work, tenacity and all, and someone does a quick arithmetic of how I could have put 200k in FO to cash out 2M, put that in MMM to cash out 8M, put that in FBNH to cash out 20M, and so on, I might run to oga Mankindman for lecture on how to deactivate my account.... just kidding.
Ades1: No matter how lucky you are or how massive your returns are, 700 milla no be beans! And that's in whatever currency you want to convert it to lol! Even if the person enjoyed 20X returns, that's still a lot of their money they had to invest! That man tried, it's not easy to stick to the plan through good and bad times.
Still waiting for one bros to update us. He posted that his goal was a billion some years back starting with 100m
Chai this life/ some pple are starting with my goal
hpymoment: Is the email sent to me containing an account number the same as cscs account?
They said I can fund my account using the account number given to me as a reference number. Thanks for your help.
No that account number isn’t same as a cscs number and you can’t trade with it yet but you can fund it.
Next step is they will create a cscs account for you and link it to that number you got. Then you can now trade with it. You’re one step away snd the next action is theirs after you have paid the 10k which will be credited to you .
They will email you soon about the cscs or you can follow up
Ojoboak: Your existing Clearing House Number (CHN) is required when you want to open account with a new stockbroking firm. This help to tie all your stockbroking accounts to only ONE CSCS account, which you can subscribe to view statuses of your account with all your stockbrokers. Not supplying that information to your new stockbroker, will lead to opening of a new CHN for you. Supply this information to Morgan, and your account will be connected to it. Hope I have help a bit.
How long does it take to open a CSCS account please?
hpymoment: Thanks for your response but Morgan was the first I wanted to download but I didn’t see it on App Store. How do I get it?
Another thing, how do I get a broker to open account for me?
Just go to meritrade.com and click open account a d then fill out the details. The chn number is optional. You need to also upload id card, your signature on a piece of paper and a passport and utility bill. You can also upload a drivers licence or intl passport or nat id as utility bill. After that you fund your account by depositing in the designated account number snd you are good to go
All it takes to buy today is to bid at the price of N66.55. you will be placed on a queue. On this queue, you will be placed behind the last person that placed an order with that price. as buyers are buying at that amount, they keep clearing from top (FIFO) until it gets to your turn. If you are not successful today at that price and you want to still get it tomorrow, you have to bid early with 10% added to 66.55 which is around 73.2.
When you keep chasing the market like this, it is usually chaotic. You may fall from the bus and get some bruises. It is always advisable to key in early and enjoy the ride.
unite4real: When Sugar gets to N100 this question will still be coming up. There is always a current price. If you are the long termer, just buy now and if the price goes down, buy more to average down. The future of dangote food is bright.
