What is the point here?

What "other side of Africa"

greateros:

Av said before and am saying it again: Goodluck has nothing to offer this country  except full time badluck! the man is full of negative energy and anything he touches turns to disaster!

A man who does not have authority over his wife is nothing but an ediet! He couldnt achieve anythin worth mentioning for the past 8 months that he is in power (except of course useless spending that doesn't have any impact on the masses) how do we expect him to achieve anything serious in the next 4 years!

If Goodluck succeeds in becoming the president, the next four years will the worst Nigerians ever experience!

He claims to hold PHD and he cant even speak gud english! On closer look, you will notice that he is uglier than obasanjo! Obasanjo is very ugly but at least he has personal appeal but Gudluck is very ugly, so natively inclined, shifty (he hardly looks you straight in the eyes)! and very dubious!

Nigerians pls lets reject this man with all we have!

You made so many assertions that you cant even substantiate.

"Goodluck has nothing to offer this country  except full time badluck! the man is full of negative energy and anything he touches turns to disaster!"

Give examples or keep quiet.

"A man who does not have authority over his wife is nothing but an ediet"

This is very petty, dubious and of no strength in the argument at hand - let us see your facts or keep quiet.

"He couldnt achieve anythin worth mentioning for the past 8 months that he is in power (except of course useless spending that doesn't have any impact on the masses) how do we expect him to achieve anything serious in the next 4 years!"

Something like what? and in what 8 months? in this same Nigeria? If you are in his shoes, itemise what you would have done in the so called 8 months or keep quiet.

"He claims to hold PHD and he cant even speak gud english!"

Just like you cant - what is the meaning of "ediet" What is your point here? He "claims" to have a PHD? Disprove it if you think he is lieing or keep quiet.

"On closer look, you will notice that he is uglier than obasanjo! Obasanjo is very ugly but at least he has personal appeal but Gudluck is very ugly, so natively inclined, shifty (he hardly looks you straight in the eyes)! and very dubious!"

So, what is your point, apart from being petty?

Common sense dictates that amongst 1 million devils - you should try to pitch tent with the one that you think is more "familiar" - If you want us to dump Johny because of these your verbose treatise, then, maybe we should pick on one of the following:

IBB

ATIKU

RIBADU

SARAKI

GUSAU

BUHARI

OR

who??

We are not fools - so dont try to make us into one with these arguments.

All manner of items are imported into the UK from all over the world - including tooth brushes. How can this be explained vis a vis what we are complaining about here?

It is amazing how we as a people wish evil and calamity upon our country - albeit on ourselves. Some pray for war, some pray for dis integration, some pray for complete wipe out of the country Nigeria, but some are wiser.

So, we are 50 now, what do you wish for our country, the only country we have (except you have dual citizenship, in which case you can wish her all negative things).

For me, I love Naija so much - my prayer daily is for things to get better - for the people to do what they can to make the country even greater.

SO - POP THE CHAMPAGNE.

Go and check all other countries where there had been war and dis integration and come back to ask again if Nigeria is worth celebrating -

What is happening in Nigeria is not new, it happens elsewhere, why blame yourself or ourselves as if it is not a challenge to be a nation. We may not be there yet, but with strong faith and resolve to do what e can as individuals - we will get there.

You are realy wasting time. Majority of people on NairaLand are abroad, or are people who dont beleive in Nigeria and therefore dont bother to vote or even register to vote. These things you are doing will not affect anyone's vote in the coming elections- NairaLand is not even read by those that matters in Nigeria - the peasants, the old men and women who vote. So, why not save your blood pressure from being on over drive for no purpose?

If not for NairaLand, all these self made critics will be no where to be found.

So, give it to IBB, he is better, we know his pedigree, as if pedigree no be dog food.

Abeg save your abuses - or abuse yourselve first.

We are carrying out a research into how to improve locally made items -

Which will you build your house with - 100% locally made items or foreign items.

How many also patronise locally made items - as Nigerians.

Shoes, bags, clothes etc etc.

What is your preference and why.

How do we help local manufacturers as individuals.

Remember - any abuse you write goes back to the sender. so, save them,.

A man that has not even done anything is already been termed a failure - Nigerians we hail thee.

The same people who faulted the old electoral register - the same people asking why the register cant be used.

The same people saying the time is too short- the same people now accusing him of hidden agenda just because he asked for more time.

I wonder what any of you guys will add to the well being of Nigeria and Nigerians if given the chance to occupy any of these government positions - nothing, you will all do worse jobs. So, please keep quiet and let people do their jobs.

lol

You havent realy understood that any aspersion you throw at me doesnt get to me?

@Kaiser - I like those comments of yours, honestly. I think it may be so that such contracts are scrutinised properly b4 it goes for execution, i may be wrong. I dont think 1billion Naira is in consequential though.

All Nigerians are thieves who will siphon all government money once he or she has access to power, be it local , state or federal. Case closed?

Sorry about your brother- I made a first class from the university - and couldn't get a job for over a year, until i looked inwards. Well, thats not the point.

Ok. You said unless i live here- i assume you mean in Nigeria - off course I do, i live in between Lagos and Abuja, so, nothing is new.

The point and question and my bewilderment is this - everything government does is seen as an avenue to siphon money, example, look at your statement that maybe Sambo's wife is involved in the importation. Is that right?

It is a known fact that there is poverty in the land, but we are a product of our own thinking, if we all think that every government effort is an avenue to siphon money, we are not necessarily correct at all times. So, government should not do anything else than to provide food to the teeming populace, example, share the money on a daily basis?

Are you saying its not right to charge people for refuse collection?

I dont make bins, neither do i know who makes bins - but i have seen bins used in the UK and other countries are specialised because they are moved by refuse trucks that are customised to simply grab them and pour the stuff in the bin trucks.

My question, do the local manufacturers make these type of specialised bins?

I am trying to reason properly here without joining the bandwagon.

Thanks. You come to me as very intelligent, wise and cool.

In terms of over pricing.

927,000,000 / 60000 = 15, 450:00

One bin in Britain - inclusive of VAT = £50 or more. - = 12, 500:00 per piece. Minus other costs.

http://www.britishbins.co.uk/

So, how much would it have been sold for to make it non over priced?

Look, I am not making case for anyone - I am just trying to understand the hoolabaloo.

When government announces cost of roads, airports, NEPA, Transportation, and many more - we all shout, it is not needed. What is it we then need in our dear country Nigeria? Only FOOD? Means we are all hungry and dieing? I realy need to understand all these issues or people are just talking for talking sake?

927, 000,000 / 60000 = 15,450: 00

To be paid back by users within two years.

What is the argument here?

Save your abuses. But be reasonable and point the issue out - apart from they are foreign - designed to be used with the trucks for carrying them.

Have people who live in the UK seen how the truck lift the bins with the specialised truck- abeg. No abuse me- abuse yahself.

Just point out the issues here. Maybe i am too blind to "see"

confetti:

Am sorry to say this but truly speaking, if this is the level of your reasoning, you are really dumb. What has my buying one single shoe or shirt got to do with govt importation of foreign waste bins?
To me, the issue is not even the amount involved even though it is outrageous but why importation when they are asking us to patronize made in Nigeria goods? This is not automobile for God's sake neither is it a technology we do not have. How can a right thinking human approve such purchase in the 1st instance, are u trying to say that the most important thing in Nigeria now (Abuja is waste Bins) Assu is going on strike 1st October, Workers are embarking on strike soon cos of minimum wage, Boko Haram harrassing pple everywhere with such killings as we see in Aba and other states. Do you know how many graduates 1B will change their lives for ever here in Nigeria? In fact, I do not want to continue because reading your post is very annoying.

You can jump in the ocean for all i care- or at best slit your own throat-

My post is a rhetoric question, and if you are hard at understanding - you might as well wipe your entire face and body with sand paper and put on a placard that reads - the person who fails to understand the other person" and jump into the lagoon.

Why do people find it hard to understand that this is a free world, a world where dissenting views are allowed, not a world where every man with his own mind agrees with the thought of the other person.

Call me whatever names you care- it doesnt move me one bit - call me government apologist, or like some others, call me pig, just as their father is a pig. The point is this, we are very hypocritical as a people, the same people shouting give the contract to local people, are the same people who will start threads on NairaLand complaining how bad Naija made products are - the same people who will go to the market and buy expensive foreign stuff in place of local goods.

Shout all you want - my question remains the same - how many of you prefer locally made goods to foreign products who according to you will serve the use and the test of time. That is the issue.

Only people of low minds like you will think that anyone who doesn't agree with stupid critics and meaningless criticisms, are people who pally with government and seeks contracts from the same government - anyway - i care less what you think, because you mean nothing to me.

The point in my first comment is clear- how many of the people commenting about government not patronising local goods do so themselves? That is the question, if you are angry with me personally and think I shouldn't ask that question, that is your business.
