The people of Akwa-Ibom state need to thank God for the kind of Governors God has been giving to them. From Governors Attah to Akpabio to Udom and to Umo Eno, the interest of Akwa-Ibom state has always been their priority over political party. Even political appointees like Umanah Umanah, Ekperikpe Ekpo (Current Minister of Petroleum Resources – Gas) etc have prioritized the state over political party From the Point of Personality & Emotional Intelligence This current Governor, Umo Eno, is the best among all the governors of Akwa-Ibom State (From Governors Attah to Akpabio to Udom to Eno). He has been able to manage all his predecessors. Economic Benefit of his Defection from PDP to APC 1. The Ibom deep sea port started by Akpabio, continued by Udom and this present Governor is yet to get federal government’s political backing to enable it function. It will likely be a threat to Lagos IGR because most of the goods meant for South East and South-South states’ will likely berth at Ibom deep sea port. Akwa-Ibom need to go the extra mile to convince the current president to actualize it. Now that Akwa-Ibom has the number 3 man from the state, it is an opportunity to push for the actualization again. The removal of Former President Jonathan affected Ibom deep sea actualization because Akpabio had already gotten Jonathan’s buy-in before 2015, when he was still Governor, to actualize it. Both Akpabio and Jonathan were in PDP then. 2. As the number 3 man and as a high-ranking member of the APC, Akpabio was able to ensure that the headquarters of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) is sited in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state, since NDDC is already sited in Port-harcourt, Rivers State. The government and people of Akwa-Ibom State stand to benefit from SSDC’s taxes, rent payment from the use of Akwa-Ibom state 21-storey smart building as the current office, job creation etc. Under Buhari, when universities of science and technology were to be sited at each of the geopolitical regions, that of south-south was sited in Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom state when Akpabio was Minister Political Reasons 1. The governor knows that Akpabio is determined to return as senate president in 2027. He can only achieve that if he delivers Akwa-Ibom to the APC. If he doesn’t and Oshomole delivers Edo to APC, Umahi contest again for senate and delivers Ebonyi to APC, Akpabio may likely not get the SP role in 2027. As such he will be desperate to deliver Akwa-Ibom to APC by all means (We all know how they can do it and tell you to go to court). To be in safe hands and avoid that threat, decamping is better for him 2. Also, with Wike still in PDP, PDP may likely not have a candidate through the courts. There will likely be parallel primaries. To avoid similar issues like that of Zamfara state, Plateau state and the likes, it is safer for the governor to decamp to avoid that risk 3. From the point of loyalty to his political party, the defection may not be right. Though, considering the fact that Atiku decamped to APC to prevent a South-south son (Jonathan) from continuing as president and to install his fellow northern brother that is not a PDP member as president, I think the game plan is that same Atiku should not be allowed to repeat same to another southerner. Southern governors may have decided to pay Atiku back (Law of Kama) Lots of southerners are saying that from 1960 to 2025, Northerners have ruled Nigeria for more years than Southerners and that Northern Senators and HOR members have refused the bill meant to rotate the presidency between North and south for 8 years each |
Paramount01:I am sure you know that Buhari decided to be neutral in both elections, just the way he later decided to be neutral during APC's 2023 presidential primary election? |
casualobserver:A very sound analysis. As at today, APC VP will likely be Akpabio (Provided he reduces his jokes during very important discussions /proceedings and win Akwaibom for the president in 2027) or Wike (His FCT performance has boosted him, reducing the previous hate some northerners had for him). If the President wins all the south eastern states with good numbers, then there will be serious battle for VP slot between Akpabio, Wike, Umahi and Soludo (key Northerners will be comfortable with Soludo because he favoured them as CBN governor and he was previously part of Buhari's economic advisory team) |

Good evening, A friend with B.Sc in a science course and ICAN qualified wants to do B.Sc accountong at NOUN. He wants to know if he will start from 3rd year? Kindly help to respond. |
Real strategists take one step at a time. You have to win election first, sit there as president and GCFR before talking of a vice that cannot be tamed. A strategist like BAT will do better. See how he allowed Saraki and others to have their way and prevent him from being the vice to PMB. He knew that any division among all the parties that formed APC then will prevent them from capturing power in 2015. You cannot be playing at the group stage of a football competition and be talking about the problems you will encounter at the semifinal without strategizing to win the quarterfinal first. He lost focus of his main goal to become president for an after issue he can actually handle with maturity and fairness. If OBJ could manage him to achieve his 2nd term goal, why can't he do same. For me, I think KARMA decides to visit Atiku. What Wike and other G5 governors did was exactly whay Amaechi, Saraki, Kwankwaso, Sule Lamido, former Adamawa and former Niger state governors did to stop Jonathan, under the coordination of same Atiku. It could have been much more easier for Atiku to become President in 2019 under PDP after Jonathan's 2nd term than the route he decided to take due to desperation and impatience LibertyRep: |
Whenever anyone becomes the president of Nigeria or head of state, he automatically becomes GCFR, while the vice gets a GCON. Heads of the other 2 arms of government, National assembly and judiciary, gets a GCON if the president wishes. The senate president is the chairman and head of the national assembly, not the speaker, while the CJN is the head of the judiciary Some past presidents refused to confer GCON on some past chairmen of the national assembly, like Wabara and Saraki, because they felt they didn't support them. The speaker knows this fact and can't say otherwise because GCON has never been conferred on any speaker before. Aside, the VP, SP and CJN with GCON, Goodluck Jonathan also conferred GCON on Aliko Dangote to motivate him to fast track his refinery then. |
The main issue of concern in this judgement is not even the voters' register that should not be released but this statement. "The court also barred the Inspector General of Police IGP and the Department of State Services DSS from providing security during the election." This means that if they carry out the election in the absense of DSS and police, hoodlums could heavily attack both RSIEC and voters, leading to chaos, bloodbath, inconclusive elections, death etc |
The weather I saw in that video is not 4am. That cloud that's already getting bright gradually is between 6am - 6.20am. |
He once said he is still a member of the PDP and PDP is yet to expel him from the party. I can remember Chief Bola Ige, as a member of AD, refused to decamp and served as Minister of Mines & Power (1999-2000) and as Minister of Justice and Attorney-General (2000-2001) under a PDP government (Chief Obasanjo's government) I don't think anything is wrong with that Arobaga: |

I think we must separate PDP constitution from the unwritten north-south rotation of the ofiice of president. The unwritten north-south rotation is not backed by any law but it is ideal for mutual coexistence and peace. This is different from that of the PDP which is backed by their constitution. Analytically, north-south rotation in PDP's constitution should be restricted to PDP members and how they rotate the office of the president within them without linking it to who ever is the president of Nigeria from another political party. The last president of Nigeria from the PDP is from the south (H.E former president Jonathan). As such, the next president from the PDP should be from the north. Until the north produces the next PDP president after Jonathan, it will be a breach of their constitution if the next PDP president comes from the south. This is my opinion, i am not a supporter of any political party. I look at issues from the middle without taking sides. if anyone has a better opinion, state it politely. Discussions are meant to enlighten people and for people to learn from other superior and educative opinions. It should not breed insult or quarrel. |

@Op, please what will be your advise as the best way, at no cost, to carryout hands-on practice of any of cybersecurity, information systems mgt or IT audit? Penetration testing, vulnerability testing etc maybe inclusive. Assuming the person has knowledge of the theories to an extent from first degree and certifications. I know that Cybersecurity is different from Information Systems Mgt. |
lastempero:Your point is ok and valid as a spectator. From the look of things so far, you must know that Ortom is a smart politician with sound knowledge of the laws of power backed up with similar checkmating skills from a chess game. Creating a state security outfit with ammunition like some other state governors have done will be a wrong and miscalculated step by Ortom that will lead to the declaration of state of emergency. Ortom is aware of that, he will not try it. If the governor's state security outfit goes after armed herdsmen, they will retaliate as they have planned and the state will be in chaos, their media aides will raise the volume all over social media and in less than 3 days after the first violence, a state of emergency will likely be declared and a fulani person maybe appointed as sole administrator or with any other title to quickly legalise RUGA in the state. If that happens, Fulani herdmen will not only have edge in the state, another political party will capture the state from PDP easily as the sole Admin will likely work against PDP in any election to elect a new governor. At that point, Ortom must have been politically neutralised completely and may even be arrested and prosecuted for arming his security outfit without police approval to kill people. You can read up former Adamawa state governor vs Jonathan. Ortom is playing a fairly okay politics from my point of view. He is attacking them verbally but courteous about the other side because he knows they left it open as a trap for him.The highest Ortom can do is to empower any federal government security structure that is sympathetic to him. |

Satioshi:Very funny |
wetdick:They are completely different. Duty of care issues I have seen are mainly health hazards and not robbery. Armed robbery cannot be completely prevented by any institution, including police stations and even army barracks as seen in Borno state where Boko haram invaded. Besides, CBN stated that the customer is responsible for the protection of his or her assets in the banking premises. See the link below https://www.cbn.gov.ng/Supervision/cpdconedu.asp |
wetdick:In the case u mentioned, the explosion could be prevented if the occupier (filling station) wants to go the extra mile. Also the root of the explosion (fuel etc) is owned by the filling station, so the court could have awarded compensation if the man was able to proof his case. In the robbery case as stated by the OP, the bank cannot completely protect itself not to talk of the customers. The court knows the law is subjective depending on the scenario |
Apart from bank branches in remote areas, or areas where police or military reenforcement will take longer time or has been compromised, robbers that go to banks work with time. Their focus is on the vault cash and not customers except they sighted huge sum of money in the custody of a customer. In response to the OP's question, the bank will only take responsibility if there are documentary evidence /record of cash payment I.e 1) If the cash has been posted on the bank's computer 2) If the cash was received by the cashier and a deposit slip stamped by the bank was issued to the customer 3) If there are details of the cash deposit transaction entered on the cash deposit register by either the customer or the cashier, even if it's yet to be posted Note that the armed robbers could have destroyed the DVR, thereby destroying the. backed up CCTV recordings except the bank has realtime/centralized archiving or CCTV recordings of all branches in head office which is costly and expensive to maintain Even if the CCTV was not destroyed by the robbers. The bank can destroy the CCTV footage and claim that it was destroyed by the robbers Aside numbers 1-3 above, the bank is not liable to the customer. |
Showruleworld:Surprise is possible when u write people off as a human. We all have 1 vote each. Most people felt Fayemi will loose out because they believed with Fayose's popularity, PDP would win. Never rule out surprise especially when God is involved. |
