Another possibility, is the experience gotten in boarding schools, in prison or communities where you get to see and interact with same-sex fellow only, and the urge to be intimate resulted to the homosexual orientation. Environment matters a lot!

I know of lesbians who I have helped out of such orientation, and I can proudly say they are now fully heterosexual- the secret is a form of therapy.
