successmatters: Truth is, Lagos will never remain the same if the Igbo's leave. The Igbo's will leave with their hustle and Lagos will become just another Ibadan. That's a lie . You forgot the sellers will always change but the consumer will remain the same (before the Igbo's ventured into electronic biz. Selling of electronic was dominated by the Ilorin people ) . Huge projects Lagos govt is embarking on will keep the population here, while some other tribes and smart individuals will replace the igbo's. Yoruba model of economy is more of a big retail outlet (presence of foreign brands), well coordinated markets and good service delivery to various homes , not this system you igbo's introduced . I just pity the division of this country but i really love to see it happen. |

Odingo1: Just keep chest beating, Lagos was developed for more than 30 years as a capital of Nigeria and was made economic capital of Nigeria by FG. The white colonial masters and Nigeria government build Lagos,if any other state receive benefit like that they will also be like Lagos.Abuja is also beautiful because oil money is been used to build it. In case if you don't know,Lagos is not part of western Nigeria in Nigerian constitution, should anything happen and Nigeria separate, the status of Lagos and Abuja will be determined. Been reading comments since without dropping one but i have to school you base on Lagos ownership . The late sage took care of that before his demise . |

pchukwudi: So what do you think is the reason I could not see a single Igbo identity in the Lagos @50 success story billboards?
Or are you saying that faces of folks like Linda Ikeji and Cosmas Maduka who started from scratch in lagos and got to the point where they are now heavily invested in the state are less qualified to adorn those billboards than, say, Olajumoke, for example?
Is that glaring omission due to politics too, or pure tribal hatred? Tribal hatred that emanates from utterances on both sides . That's a sign "We don't fucking care about you " . Am from the West and i must tell you the truth, even the elites has a very deep tribal sentiments . I pray we restructure or we go our separate ways . |

jollymizzle: i may not be as blunt as he is but seriously you igbos have taken this too far . You would want me to condemn him for his outburst after you guys let kanu loose on the rest of us. Like I said earlier, the relations between igbo and Yoruba is degenerating daily and the post you quoted is an example. A few years ago it wasn't like this before kanu started filling igbo hearts with hatred. He(kanu) is the real enemy of you igbos and it's a shame you still haven't realised that So also Achebe . |
Politics › Re: To All Ipobs, Igbos,ipods,ibos (afonja Luvs U All) by ladiguy(m): 7:45pm On Apr 14, 2017 |
pchukwudi: You are talking arrant nonsense.
No Eze or Obi in igbo land will ever threaten anyone (be it the housa or yoruba community) to vote the obi's or eze's or council of elders's choice of candidate. Get that into your head.
And here's something else:
1. Your oba's threat of mass murder WAS NOT AS A RESULT OF ANY OPEN DEFIANCE. The man simply woke up from the wrong side of his bed, summoned Igbo leaders in lagos and issued a baseless threat. So quit twisting the history.
2. Ambode's opponent was not an Igbo man. Jimmy was as Yoruba as Ambode. So the threat has nothing to do with culture or ethnic political preservation. It was purely an abuse of authority which was driven by personal selfishness and fear. And few sane yoruba people did condemn the oba's behavior. If you can recall the vents that lead to that outburst . You will understand it was all about politics . Some elders were making moves beyond their boundaries (I .Uba and co ). |
Politics › Re: To All Ipobs, Igbos,ipods,ibos (afonja Luvs U All) by ladiguy(m): 7:38pm On Apr 14, 2017 |
pchukwudi: You perfectly captured one of the inreconcilable differences between the igbo and yoruba cultures.
For example, you're quick to justify your Oba's hate speech; and insist that it was right to threaten Igbos with mass murder if they ever refuse to be deprived of their political franchise and constitutional rights to vote whomsoever they wish to be the governor (by their individual convictions) simply because they reside in Lagos.
But you missed one thing: "Igbo ama eze",
Igbo ama eze loosly means that no one dictates to an average igbo man what to do.
And that's not "an insult" to anyone as you taged it...
But when you are in someones domain . You have to follow their tradition .
It's simply a CULTURAL thing...
It's in them...
Igbo MEN do not bend down to salute their rulers or elders.
To you that may be an insult, but to igbos it's a normal culture of individuality and personal assertiveness.
Paherps this is another cultural reason you should conceed to those who insist that they want out. |

Its funny more non yorubas were assassinated, and imprisoned while the betrayers chickened into exile only to return years later n claim to be hero's of democracy. Even those that were assassinated were betrayed by their own people.
Truely, the dead has no victory, else would Pa Alfred Riwani of blessed memory if alive be a celebrated nationalist? U n I no d answer is NO.
Frank Kokori, the then NUPENG President even after his incarceration, till date is not celebrated. Jus to mention a few.
But d likes of Wole Soyinka, Tinubu, Fayemi etc that ran away wen it was time to defend their mandate are today celebrated as hero's of democracy, what a shame. Seek your unbiased elders , they will tell you undiluted historical accounts on that era . Baby in the house . |

Ohanaeze Ndigbo should sign a patnership deal with NDLEA and DSS inorder to go after these drug barons in a brutal way, they are the ones exploiting these boys. Strategize an anti-drug trafficking orientation in secondary schools . What happened to our "EZI AHA KA EGO(good name is better than money)" Value? We need to face reality and fight this problem. Politics › Re: Lagos IGR Rises By N32.99bn — Higher Than 33 States Put Together by ladiguy(m): 12:37am On Mar 17, 2017 |
namet: Lagos IGR is higher because Lagos cheats other states of the federation.
Oil companies like ExxonMobil pay taxes to Lagos state. In reality, those taxes should be paid to Akwa Ibom State. So Lagos is stealing from Akwa Ibom. Governor Udom Emmanuel should do all in his powers to force ExxonMobil to return its corporate base to Akwa Ibom, so that the state can benefit from EXxonMobil's taxes, instead of allowing Lagos to continue to steal Akwa Ibom tax monies. Even if ExxonMobil continue to locate in Lagos, they should pay taxes to Akwa Ibom, not to Lagos state government.
Lagos cheats other riverine/littoral states out of import revenue. Try to import anything and have it shipped to Port Harcourt for example, and your shipment will be confiscated in Lagos and you'll be told to come to Lagos and clear it. Lagos, through Yoruba dominated federal government, have stiffled the ability of other reverine states to have a functional seaport. Case in point is the Calabar EPZ which the Yorubas have gone out of their way to make sure it remains dead. The same story is with the proposed IBAKA seaport in Akwa Ibom. Lagos is afraid of competition because the Badagry seaport was only conceptualized soon after Governor Akpabio at the time, appeared to be serious about IBAKA seaport project, which the Yorubas see as a threat.
They say ohh......seaport establishment is under the purview of the Federal Government......which they control. IBAKA project was forcefully taken over by the federal government, essentially killing the project to make way for the new seaport in Badary in Lagos. The fact is that the Yorubas and Lagos state are afraid of allowing any functioning seaport in Niger-Delta because the Igbos who import 80% of goods into Nigeria would abandon Lagos and instead use seaports in Niger-Delta because it would be closer, cheaper, and more efficient for business.
Sadly, Lagos state continues to unfairly and unjustly benefit from everyone coming to Lagos to clear their imports (containers, cars, etc) because you'd be paying a Yoruba taxi driver, a Yoruba hotel owner, a Yoruba-owned clearing agent/company, a Yoruba-owned trucking company, and so on. Lagos state, just like the Nigerian nation, is a huge fraud and it is structured to survive on the backs of minorities in the South-South Niger Delta area.
Lagos is a fraud that cheats other states of their tax monies. Let ExxonMobil, for instance, stay in Lagos, but let the company pay monthly taxes to AKwa Ibom. Do that and see the Yorubas shout NOOOOO!!!! Lagos state IGR is a mirage. It is a bogus number that only exist because Lagos cheats other states in the country by stealing other peoples's taxes and resources, ofcourse through federick luggard's contraption where Niger Delta minorities are forced to belong to Nigeria where majority tribes steal their resources.
It therefore behooves Niger-Deltans to bond together with the Igbos (SS and SE) to extricate themselves from a country and ethnic groups (who claim majority statuses) that only steals from them. I am not calling for Biafra (not that it is a bad idea). I am only saying that it will be more beneficial for Niger-Deltans to join forces with the Igbos for economic emancipation and integration. The fact is that SE/Igbos are stronger and more industrous. The Igbos make business happen in Nigeria, unlike the other regions/ethnic groups that are viable by locating every project in Lagos or relevant out of pervasive entrangement in, or control of, the federal government. Forming alliances of any sort can only make SS/Niger Delta stronger and more mutally beneficial.
Lagos state government is a fraud. Lagos IGR is a mirage! Nigeria is a disgraceful contraption! You are stupid .I think ibos controls all the businesses in Lagos ? So why the complain about the Taxi driver, hotel owners and others you mentioned ? Foolish you . |
Politics › Re: Anambra State Is The Richest State In Nigeria by ladiguy(m): 8:34pm On Mar 07, 2017 |
ImperialYoruba: That letter is what in civilized society is termed positive criticism. The author is bringing to attention of leaders a need for sustained industrialization.
All these people he listed, did you know Yorubaland had that many industrialists? No, you did not know, not until this author shared this info.
We live in a service economy, what is called globalization. The author was familiar with the old tradition of industrialization where you get land build production facility or plant, employ people and sign up distributorship to get your products to market. He is not conversant with the way things are done in age of internet.
Yoruba has shifted from plqnting capital to flying capital. For the past 30yrs we have pioneered and built a fail-safe model for service industry across the globe. A Yorubaman can own a multi-billion business interest in Nigeria but lives in England. In the age of internet communications and multi-media you can do business anywhere anytime. Who owns and operates data centers in Nigeria, who owns and operates cellular in Nigeria, who owns and operates online distributiin and shipping, who owns and operates call centers in Nigeria? These and many more that he did not list but are they are the big income earners in new age are all controlled by Yoruba.
He said if Ibo leave Lagos IGR will drop because their shops and industry will leave with them. So what happened to Lagos and Oun and Ibadan not drying up as result of the departure of thosr big industrialists in his list? Same effect will happen in the departure of Ibo, replacements will step in.
Look at Kodak how smart phone camera has forced them out of their monopoly. Same with Xerox. You can take graphic image of a document and share across the globe in seconds. You can fax and receive fax on your smartphone. This is the power of innovation, the ability not just to invent but to forecast and see ahead and adjust yourself along. Yoruba has been doing that before Nigeria came into being.
Isn't that why you guys label us betrayers, cause we shift when conditions change and demand a new input and action. Well we are not only flexible in politics, we practice same flexibility in industry and commerce.
Look what we have done with Oodua Investment and Development Corporation, we reinvented it. For every ten multi-billion business contracts signed in Lagos, at least six are touched by OIDC through one or more of its diverse subs. It is the richest wholly indigenous Corporation in Nigeria and continues to wax strong. The author did not list it.
We love that he wrote the wake up call, it is patriotic of him to do so. It keeps us on our feet even in the new way in which we are planting Yoruba across the globe. Nice one . |
Politics › Re: Anambra State Is The Richest State In Nigeria by ladiguy(m): 8:29pm On Mar 07, 2017 |
iblawi: Igbos are too dull and Yorubas are too much for this rubbish. The way your people run to SW for survival is enough to prove we are far ahead of you.
I was surprised to see someone post bank deposit as a measure wealth and no reasonable igbo man could call him to order.
Generally, Igbos are into buying and selling and for this reason you are likely to deposit money on a daily basis and withdraw money to buy more goods frequently too. This doesn't mean you worth that much.
A very good example is this; your business is worth 5000 and you sell goods worth 3000 in a day so you deposit 3000 in bank and withdraw 3000 the following day to buy more goods. The following day you sell 3500 worth of goods and deposit the money again. Now, your total bank deposit is 6500 but the actual money in the account is just 3500. If this should repeat itself for seven days using an average deposit of 3000 it means bank deposit will hit 21,000 while actual cash in bank will remain around 3000.
Go to school you say No. You want to go to Alaba market in Lagos.
You keep beating your chests Anambra this and that without knowing what is going on in other regions.
For example, Anambra is an industrialized state by your standard but Ogun state is the most industrialized state in Nigeria. Even more industrialized than Lagos.
Innoson motors produce vehicle in Anambra or SE but Proforce in Ogun state owned buy a Yoruba man produce Amoured protected vehicle for security agencies and even Mine Resistance Armoured protected vehicle for military, drones, ships etc.
Now you can see why most Yorubas have been ignoring this thread. Because we know the person that open it is a product of Half education and currently completing the remaining half in Alaba market or somewhere in South West.
You might also not know that the richest man after Dangote is a Yoruba man and the richest woman in Nigeria is also a Yoruba woman. Good teaching from you . The elders are observing .Keep it up . |
