Politics / Re: Lagos Is No-man's-land - Alhaji Lateef Jakande by ladiguy(m): 7:19pm On Mar 14, 2023
Petrallen:
FELLOW Citizens of Lagos State,

On Saturday, 28th, July 1979, you elected me, by 559,070 votes to 126,805, the first Executive Governor of Lagos State. Today, as a result of that election, the Chief Judge of this State, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Nigeria, has invested me with the office. This is an inestimable honour of which I am very conscious. It is a call to service that I take very seriously in all humility. And I want to assure you that I shall spare no effort to justify the confidence which you, the good people of Lagos State, have demonstrably reposed in me.

God moves in a mysterious way, says William Cowper, His wonders to perform. His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour.

The creation of Lagos State, like all great events, is not the achievement of one single person. The territory now known as Lagos State is the former Colony Province created by the British Administration for their own administrative convenience. Following the cession of his sovereignty to the British Crown by King Dosunmu in 1861, Eko was administered independently by a Governor of the Settlement of Lagos. Under the Commission of 19th February-1866, the Settlement of Lagos was governed by an Administrator and a Legislative Council responsible to the Governor of the West African Settlements residing in Sierra Leone. This continued until 1874. By Letters Patent dated 24th July, 1874 the territory was administered by a Lieutenant Governor subject to the Governor of the Gold Coast Colony.

Nine years later, by Letters Patent of 22nd January 1883, Lagos was administered by a Deputy Governor responsible to the Governor of the Gold coast Colony.

In 1886, Lagos was again set up as a separate colony in response to a petition by the people of Lagos who resented being governed from the Gold Coast. It was administered by a Governor of the Colony of Lagos under Letters Patent dated 13th January, 1886. This was the first time that the territory now known as Lagos State came under one administration. The administration continued under various constitution until 1954, when Lagos was separated from the rest of the Colony and constituted Federal Territory, that is to say a No-Man’s Land.

Thus, it is evident that, for 89 years from 1862 to 1951, Lagos (with or without the rest of the Colony) enjoyed a separate and distinct existence as a unit of administration with its own Governor, Deputy Governor, Lieutenant-governor, Administrator or Commissioner as the case may be. For 68 years from 1886 to 1954, the Colony of Lagos (i.e. the present Lagos State) was administered together as a unit, an inseperable whole. From 1914 to 1923 the Colony of Lagos had its own Legislative Council while the rest of Nigeria had another Council...

There will be no discrimination against anyone on the ground of political affiliation, religious belief, ethnic or state origin, sex or social status. But we can do all of these things only if all sections of the community cooperate fully with the Government they have elected...

You can read the full text of his inaugural speech in 1979 here: https://www.tvcnews.tv/2021/02/flashback-jakandes-inaugural-address-as-lagos-state-governor-in-1979/

The Ojora Royal Family and Council, recently took ownership of the lands housing the Lagos State Liaison Office of the Delta State Government, at Plot 235/237, Moshood Abiola Way (former Apapa Road), Ijora Lagos, through a court order.

This was after successfully proving in court that; the lease agreements with the governments of the Old Western Region, Mid-West Region and Bendel State has expired, thus the lands be returned to the rightful owners.

Expect more of this from land owning families in Lagos State, as they begin to retrieve and take ownership of their lands.

Lagos belongs to its indigenous people. Lagos is not a no man's land! ©️ *Apasa Kekeniju!*

This tribalism bank. They don't have a single branch in the south east. All their branches are in the south west. Very tribalistic people.

This I have seen.

In 2011, Wema downscaled its operation and opted for a regional banking license, in order to focus on its key market jurisdictions and strengths. The regional scope covered the South-West, South-South and Abuja. Having built the bank’s capital base well above the N25 billion regulatory minimum capital requirement for a national bank, Wema Bank applied for and was granted a national banking licence by CBN in November 2015.

With time, the bank will expand to the south East boy..

Politics / Re: Why Igbos Are Needed In Lagos by ladiguy(m): 7:54pm On Mar 09, 2023
sukkot:
See many of you yorubas don’t have a ruling class mentality . You can’t see beyond your nose. You are getting into petty unnecessary beefs. You have to understand that in this life there are pim-ps and there are hoes. If you are not a pi-mp you are the hoe. And you know who the biggest p-imps are in Nigeria ? The biggest pimps are the Yoruba elites. Most especially Tinubu. The biggest pi-mp in the history of Nigeria is Tinubu. Now before Tinubu the whole Lagos was a slum. The commerce was dead. There would be just one supermarket called leventis in the whole of ikeja for example. And so the tax base was low and so no money to do projects or to upgrade infrastructure. All the big yellow transport buses were dangerous and rickety. There was poverty everywhere. So what does a p-imp like Tinubu do ? He went to the southeast to look for hoes. He knows these people are traders and business people and he enticed them to bring all their moneys and businesses to Lagos and enticed them with lekki land but behind the shadows the henchemen like MC Oluomo were hiding in the covers waiting for the hoes to set up shop. As soon as the hoes brought in all their money and businesses and abandoned their region to decay, the p-imp set his henchemen mc oluomo on all of them and started collecting heavy taxes. Just to have any billboard advertising your business on any house in Lagos alone you pay like 50 thousand naira a month. Imagine like 5000 signs in Alaba and ladipo , not to talk of other levies and taxes. Now the broke p-imp now has many hoes making him very rich and he is using the money for blue line, brt buses, Oshodi bus terminal, those blue taxis, some of the money he is using for politicking etc etc . And all these edifices are enjoyed by all of us as you sit inside An air conditioned brt bus as opposed to those yellow molues of the past. All these luxuries courtesy of the p-imp and his many SE hoes lmaooo. And you have to understand that on this issue of buying land, there is no freehold land in Lagos. It’s all leasehold of 99 years. And so no foreigners owns the land. They just borrow it for a while . The land will always belong in the Yoruba family but you can give outsiders the illusion of inclusion by leasing it to them , what many call buying land, for 99 years so that they can live here and bring all their money here to Lagos. Just imagine the billions of dollars pouring into Lagos that could have been taken to the east to develop the east ? Now you get the mindset of the ultimate hustler aka pi-mp aka Tinubu . lmaoooo. See the biggest pimps on the planet know that you need to attract different hoes from all over if you want to be rich which is why the richest states and cities in the world have an open border policy aka London, New York, Berlin, Dublin etc while the poorest are the ones who are closed off to the world like the south east of Nigeria is. And so you have to view this thing with a ruling class mentality and not from a pleibean mentality

Eduboy1990:
FROM what I have observed from Nigeria style of democracy is that the incumbent president, decide what happens in the country.
first of all the president appoint inec chairman and he has some control over them
secondly, he appoints some judicial officers in the country, and to some level have control over them

so my point is that if obedient want to reclaim thier presidential mandates, without going to the court. obi have to consult the incumbent president with some former president like obasanjo, and goodluck Jonathan,to meet president buhari. believe me inec chairman can never go against the president ,I mean incumbent president in some decisions

I can see you get sense pass all the elders in your village. Keep it up mugu

johnjose68:

defend his land is not fit to live. Wasn’t this the failure of the sons of the Incas?

It is good news that the leaders of the Igbos and other nationalities in Nigeria have met with the traditional leaders of the Yorubas in Okota and Oshodi areas to avert a backlash in respect of last election. As I said earlier, Agbaje and Afenifere are outside the mainstream of Yoruba politics. They are trying to take control of it. And they have the right to so aspire, being Yorubas.

What is objectionable to the mainstream Yoruba is their attempt to knock the heads of the Igbo against the head of the mainstream yorubas. They remind the yorubas of a similar affront by Afonja, the Yoruba army commander in Ilorin who was sent there by the Alaafin of Oyo to stop jihadist expansion. Afonja betrayed the Alaafin and invited the jihadists to defend his betrayal. They did and Afonja triumphed momentarily only to be killed afterwards by the jihadists who took over the land.

The perception in Yorubaland today is that the Igbo in Lagos especially are the modern jihadists and that Agbaje and Afenifere are the modern Afonjas. This is the underlying perception which, in my opinion, triggered the surface reaction in Okota last Saturday. The Yorubas remain an accomodating people. But they never fail to rise in their defence when they have to, as they did in the 1950s in respect of Dr Azikwe’s blatant attempt to usurp their land and as they also did at Ore during the civil war.

Kusa, a former Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian Newspaper, writes from Lagos

Afonja was never sent to stop any invasion. He rebelled. We are one but I need to correct that.

Politics / Re: The Secret Plan Of Buhari by ladiguy(m): 8:15am On Mar 04, 2023
Lostchild:
I really dislike all africa politicians, especially the Nigerians. Most of them are servant of darkness. They render their service unto Satan.

NOTE. I decide to share my belief and opinion on this Nigeria election. I was more than shock when a man told me Buhari did what was right over the naira scarcity. He said the buhari naira redesign and scarcity is meant to prevent politicians from stealing more money. I was like, what type of weed did this guy smoke? angry

MY OPINION sad
Let me say Mr Buhari knew his rule has come to an end. As a northerner, he knew that power must shift to the south. He needed to stay safe by transitioning power to a southerner, someone he like and trust. Someone from his own political party. And his favorite choice was Mr Tinubu.

In other to transfer power to Tinubu will not be that easy, so a lot of plans and secret meetings with inec was held. For Buhari and Inec to succeed, they need to lie and deceive Nigerians of which they did.

LIE 1
Buhari and inec told all Nigerians that, the electoral process and processing will be done via BVAS, and that the election will be free and fair. Yes, there will be no fraud or rigging. Nigerians believed INEC lies

More secret meetings was held on how to cover their evil plans.

LIE 2
Buhari now came up with another plans that is rooted on lie just to cover their rigging plans. This is where Emiefele came into play. Emiefele didn't know he was about to be used for the rigging scheme. Buhari told Emifiele and Nigerians that, his naira policy and scarcity was to attack politicians, preventing them from buying vote. He wants the election to be free and fair. He lied to Nigerians that, his plans was to curb and prevent vote buying. BIG LIE

Buhari wanted to cover his rigging plans even though his plans subject nigerians into more suffering.

Buhari had past political and financial friendship with Tinubu, which he wants to repay back in favor and kindness towards Tinubu. That is why Tinubu keep boasting over his turn to rule. Atiku was not a threat to their plans, but Peter Obi was the biggest threat. Nigerians them self has choosen Obi as their leader already.

INEC
For inec to succeed, lot of strategy need to be implemented on how to rigged the process. And this must be done manually.

South West is Tinubu stronghold which cannot give him the victory he need. So to perfect their plans, Tinubu need to lost two south west state. This will cover up their plans. Lagos itself is a neutral ground. They did not rigged Lagos but allowed Peter Obi to have it. Peter Obi will surely win Lagos because it is the commercial capital. Even Abuja is for Obi.

In other to cover their plot, Inec gave Osun state to Atiku, to make the process look real. So that when the whole rigging start, they will say Tinubu also loss in his own stronghold. I repeat, Peter Obi was the main obstacle because he has the heart of the people.

South East is fully Peter Obi stronghold. It can never be rigged for Tinubu. This will ruine their transitional plans. So Peter Obi can have them all in flawless victory.

South South is peter Obi strength. Tinubu can never freely win any south south state. Delta state will be impossible to rigged for Tinubu. Edo state is a no go area. What would they do?, they rigged Balyesa state and Akwa-ibom state to boost Tinubu point up. (Deal breaker)

River state was an attack to pdp, but a slapful southern betrayal from that pridefull governor. This busted the whole thing more.

North Central was hope for Obi. The middle belt truly likes Peter Obi and was more than ready to give Obi their victory. This is where the heavy rigging took place. State like Benue, Kogi,Taraba was heavily rigged to give Tinubu more victory. It is like shifting what others should have and they gave them to Tinubu. I Repeat; the middle belt was heavily rigged. This now push Obi down to third place.

Kano state is a very big state with a strong voting power. They know that Kano state will surely gives Atiku their vote, this is where Kwankwanso came into the game. They brought in Kwankwnaso to weaken Atiku in the north.

IN REALITY
In our heart of hearts, Tinubu is not our president. Peter Obi won the election. He is our leader and also Obi our hero.

THE MESSAGE
Many APC Yorubas supporters happilly mocked that, Peter Obi labour in vain. No, Obi the great has only opened the way for the youth to take over Nigieria someday soon. Anger is already cooking up in the land towards politicians. A time will come that all Nigeria present politicians will be silenced. They will also face the spiritual law of death and judgment over all their evils. For judgment begins in the life of everyone, but the true penalty and reward will be given in the after life.

He listened to the voice of the masses to surrender his personal ambition at the most critical moment. He strategically terminated PDP 60 years life spam in 16 years.
The robust critic and critique we are enjoying today is because Tinubu aligned himself to the masses to return the power to them. Tinubu has the option of joining the PDP elites to hold us hostage for another decade but he gave his all to the masses to dethrone the elites.
