If he needs to excuse the woman, so be it, if he can manage the crisis even though the wife has given a promise to work for his progress, he can continue. As a snr civil servant, once foretold that Amb Oke will soon run into problem but its unfortunately he is the one bearing the unpopular policies laid down by his predecessor Amb Oladeji former DG NIA. Olajedi sent many of well-trained officer s out of service through flimsy excuses and punished many through un written policies to sooth his grip to power in that office, those who oppose to their policies are either relegated or ease out of service, hereby become the recruits to other intelligence services,(This is evil against National Interest) while continue use the funds of the service as their personal estate. Recalling officers from the post was the order of the day and denying them of their allowances. Oladeji become alpha and omega of the Agency without believing in anybody report except what he perceived to be right.
Amb Oke came to power through obnoxious policies of Oladeji when he was recalled from Commonwealth and other senior officers from International organizations( Very unintelligent decision for removing your high profile spies from sensitive international desk). Oke felt bad and threaten to resign from the service, as God will have it, former President Jonathan heard about excesses of former NIA DG Amb Oladeji he was booted out of service and destiny place Oke at the realms of the affairs to correct all those wrongs. Everybody was please and thank God for the end of tyranny in the Agency.
Amb Oke commenced very well and everybody was pleased with his style of managing the Agency but never too smart to see reasons for his predecessor mistakes that handed him to hang man nose. because, all excess of his former boss was not queried and NIA account is not subject to probe and external audit. Instead of him to continue with his own style of administration, he was wrongly advised by his advisers to continue with Amb. Oladeji unpopular policies so he will not be perceived as a weak leader. Promoting his favourite to the post of Directors, all voiceless junior staff that misinterpret the agency rules are not given second chance but shown the way out, registering many contractors with good payback or kickback, any officer on post can be recall with flimsy excuse and going on post now become not interesting to these officers as you don’t know what will be your fate as DG may deny you in case failed counterintelligence report or regular operations abroad. Finally he unilaterally recalled or sacked few illegal operatives remaining in various walks of life of Agency that preceded his regime, justifying it with civil service rules whereas the Agency is an intelligence Organisation( What is an Unintelligent decision taken by DG NIA again) that need to be found every corner of the world gathering intelligence for the National survival . You don’t trained someone and throw them out. Today all is now history.

For new DG to survive he should stay away from repeating the same mistake of Oladeji and Oke, transfer those kitchen cabinet of Oke outside HQ as they will not wish him well, revisit most of the genuine cases, strengthen the illegal network, build confidence in staff and promote discipline.

I have made mentioned of most of this in my response to the DG issue here on Nairaland , what OKE did amounted to greed , unprofessionalism and abuse of the intelligence network . The issue is all about the "the need to know" principle, he jumped outside the safe zone and I am very sure most of the intelligence staff could read between the line but allowed him to get drown in his dirty game . As someone who is into intelligence work as a consultant, having worked within cells in Nigeria and overseas under the direction of season operatives in corporate and general intelligence and investigation, the DG by all parameters acted contrary to accepted standard. To give the man a clean report will be an administrative verdict. What is the business of the wife in moving agency money all around , we may not even understand now the extent of sensitive state secret in the possession of the wife . Ok should not be allowed into his office again , the NIA ought to move into his residence to conduct a search and retrieve any sensitive documents in his possession. He must be sacked and the incoming DG must clean the system thoroughly.

There is the need for the government to conduct a public hearing on the problems of students in the different campuses of the universities.

Firstly is the attitudes of the staff to issues affecting the students . In most of the locationd, students are treated like files.
Study materials are not given on time and where available it can't be complete. Remember that the materials are paid for by the students.

Complaint by students on academics, transfer and simple issues of registration are not only delay but tactfully killed . Staffs of Nat Open University are operating as an extension of civil service.

Presently the school portal was changed for www.nounonline.com, as a result of the changes those who have paid their school fees last semester were asked to go and paid another fees since the change in the address has wiped off all records . So uncomfortable is the new order that all outstanding credit balance in students portal running into millions were erased and forfeited to the school.

You can hardly find the staff in some of the campuses on seat, at Ibadan it is easier for you to see a state Governor that meet some of the staff on their seat. At Ado ekiti, you don't complain of errors or any problems as a student ,because you are just a number ,no one is listening to you.

In Lagos ,Abeokuta Ibadan cases abound of students in this time of recession loosing the balances on their portal to the school. Those who change their courses are worst hit. Nothing like a clear cut transition from the old portal to the new one. The staff at the ICT section in most campuses are small god.

What is so special in transiting to a new name that involves all the magic?. Exams is approaching and those who registered last year are told to go and pay another fees as registration before getting access to their portal. I met a student crying that after payment of the full fees last semester, with his change of course, he could not access his portal and even his old course is still hanging on the portal without access to same. The officials are helpless, even only if you found them on seat in locations like Ekiti, Ibadan and some other campuses . Undercover officials can go to some of these locations and see the helplessness of the students .

Problems like this will not allow the school to get the necessary recognition from the public.

Government must act to protect the student from extortion, exploitation and academic oppression. The growing number of inactive matriculation number is not encouraging for the future development of the school .
