He is not also good in managing talents. Prof. Osinbajo should be given open hand to consult wide as a leader of the Economic team for an assuring results. Buhari should give way for people in his cabinet that have experience in democratic governance and diplomacy. Everything no be by force. |
Buhari had the opportunity to convince Nigerians on his ability to fight corruption within the system but woefully failed when he couldn't tame nor stop petroleum marketers from diversion, collecting subsidies and selling petrol at three time the official pump price and this lasted for more than eight months. Tell me which ministry, agency of government or parastatals that has not doubled bribe taking under Buhari, what of nepotism and abuse of power? A nut is definitely off from this zombies head. The moment is said from 1985 and IBB, I know someone is being economical with the truth. Buhari and his wife are exponentially corrupt, thieves and deceivers. Someone who connived with a school Principal to produce a fake statement of result. A crime punishable by law is a face of change. Deluded Zombies. |

A man without vision has a lot of excuses and that's what you are and so have no eyes to see the total failure in the 19th century government policies Buhari is leading. |
Hengineer:It's like you have problems hence you're running round and round deceiving people. Let me help you explain the politics better. Osinbajo has a task as the head of Economic team to stimulate the Economy and restore investors confidence and the only fast and easy way to do it, is total deregulation and devaluation of the Naira to a realistic market value. Why Buhari is sticking on his guns against total deregulation is not only about the removal of subsidy payment rather the "petroleum product equalization funds" that got to go with total deregulation which means the man in Kano got to pay a little bit more than the lady in Lagos State. Putting one and two together, the Prof is looking for a way to balance the equation to the satisfaction of his boss, who would do everything possible to protect his constituency notwithstanding how much harm it does or brings to Nigerian people. The subsidy may have tactically appeared to be removed because officially, the NNPC has adopted parallel exchange rate instead of the official N199 to allow for flat level capitalism thereby accommodating private competition. The summary of what happened is that the subsidy wasn't removed but that Nigeria now accept quotations in dollars and by this adopting the parallel market exchange rate hence N145 per litre. The subsidy will be back as the maybe at $70 per barrel. To buttress my point further, on 2nd May, 2016, the PPRMC announced that petrol will sell at N97 to N99 per litre without subsidy. The question becomes why N145? Yes, it N99 for official exchange rate of N199 to $1 but using the parallel market value, it became N145. |
amaechi1:My Neighbour whose shop got burnt a year ago has recovered. Ask those people whose shops got burnt in Lagos last January how they are faring, many of them are on the part to recovery while some are back on their feet. A lazy son always blames his dead father's inability to keep buoyant inheritance for his failures. Our agricultural revolution was on course when this government took over a year ago but where is it today? Extreme hunger in the land, insecurity everywhere and someone is still making excuses after a year in office. Zombie 2.0 |
Babacele:Zombie will always say something even when the flow is antithetical to his submissions |
Osinbajo is learning fast, the next will be devaluation of Naira. Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is back through a willing surrogate. In recent times, demands for deregulation and subsidy removal have resurfaced, particularly after the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, while briefing the media shortly after presenting the 2015 budget, said that the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory had been directed to review the situation and proffer the advice to government on the issue. At the end of the meeting with the Minister, fuel marketers and importers on Monday last week in Lagos, Executive Secretary of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Thomas Olawore, Olawore, said the N87 retail fuel price was unsustainable. “The on-going recovery of crude prices at the international market calls for complete deregulation of the downstream sector of the petroleum sector to permanently give the government, the marketers, Nigerians and all stakeholders the rest of mind,” Mr. Olawore said. According to Mr. Olawore, when the recent devaluation of the Naira against the dollar and other international currencies are taken into consideration along with other indices, deregulation was the best way to go. “The only way to end this recurring cycle of issue fuel supply disruption and price reviews is, complete deregulation of the downstream sector of the petroleum industry,” he insisted. With deregulation, he said the country’s four refineries would be rehabilitated and made to refine petroleum products locally to replace the current arrangement where the bulk of the fuel consumed in the country are imported. Besides, Mr. Olawore reiterated the call on the National Assembly to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill, which has been pending before the lawmakers for approval. If the lawmakers think the PIB should be perfect before it is passed, he pointed out that the country may not get anywhere, Though he acknowledged that the problems delaying the passage of the PIB were more about the upstream industry, Mr. Olawore said the downstream sector of the industry, which has minimal problems, was ready for the new law. The Executive Secretary, PPPRA, Farouk Ahmed, did not say whether government was contemplating removing fuel subsidy when he was contacted for this story. “Well I don’t know about removal of fuel subsidy by government. When crude oil price dropped to $47 and subsidy dropped to minus N10 on January 16, the price range was between N8 and N14. “The subsidy level was still averaging N13 per litre when CBN, on January 18, adjusted its exchange rate, which was $171.36 (that is $168 plus banking administrative charges by commercial banks of 2 per cent). It later changed it to $199. “That affected the price and a jump in subsidy level, from N14 to N31. The difference in the exchange rate between $171 and $199 is what government has to pay as subsidy per litre,” Mr. Farouk said. |
kITATITA:You forgot Obasanjo's revelation about the existence of Jonathan's snipers and planned assassination of 100 APC politicians. |

Why now? Mr man, you are an accomplice. It's over a year since Buhari was congratulated by Jonathan and you couldn't tell the government until now. It is either DSS is behind these confessions or that someone is seeking for government direct patronage. |
tuale4u:They have realized their previous stupidity in 2012 hence have no option than to throw their weight behind the policy. There would've been more than five private refineries operating at different locations across Nigeria but their stupidity cost us much. Is Buhari in support of total deregulation? I think not rather Prof. Osinbajo is just implementing Dr Iweala's policies to stimulate the Economy and restore investors confidence in the interim. Do you know about Petroleum Equalization Fund? When will Buhari's government scrap it? |
kachola:1. Easterners supported total deregulation. 2. Buhari said there was nothing like fuel subsidy and that the scheme is a total fraud. 3. The sponsors of subsidy protest in 2012 including the activists should apologize to Nigerians for deceiving them. |
MORNDEW:Demand for palliatives in a bid to ensure that the proceeds are not wasted on recurrent expenditures. |
I have just received classified intelligence information. Prof. Osinbajo is in consultation with Dr Okonjo Iweala on what policies that are needed to restore investors confidence and stimulate Nigeria economy. The first two she proffered were removal of subsidy and upward adjustment of the official exchange rate by 50%. |
MORNDEW:The 85% of Easterners have always supported it. It is now dawn on APC that running the central Government is entirely different from playing opposition. APC should acknowledged their mistakes by apologizing to Nigerians having deceived them with so much lies and propaganda in this subject matter. Doing the right thing no matter how late is still commendable. |
9jii:The only difference was unwarranted hatred that induced absolute antagonism/resentment coupled with sophisticated bigotry. |
The Labour Unions, TUC and NLC said they were ambushed and one zombie calls that consultation. This degree of sycophancy is beyond imagination My advice is that you should go and rest on the bossom of your girl friend/wife and stop writing jargon. |
The same thing Lady Excellency is saying since morning. |
jaybim:We are not talking about elementary economics here. The reserve was used appropriately in the course of normal transactions required for the development of the Nigerian economy. We saw the results and the international communities agree to it. Nigeria is now the largest Economy in Africa and 24th in the world. |
NOETHNICITY:Do you know what we call reserve, the importance and value? It is only a foolish Father that dies of hunger to keep inheritance for the living. Any Economy undergoing transformation uses its reserves. There was more than 18 months of low crude price under Jonathan hence your assertion is incorrect. |
NOETHNICITY:Jonathan wasn't an Angel, far from that. He had his shortcomings and good sides. By my assessment, I scored his government 52% and never excellent. |
focus7:His achievements are there to defend him. He increased our political awareness and deepened democracy. The indisputable stats remains that Jonathan reduced poverty by 50%, increased middle class by 30% and was instrumental to making Nigeria the highest economy in Africa and 23rd in the world. Let's give it to him while we criticize his bad sides notwithstanding the misgivings we reposed on his government. |
focus7:Stop that, the only advantage Buhari has over Jonathan is the ability to subject his subordinates to work on the dictates of his visions no-matter how good or bad the policies maybe. The same level of corruption witnessed during Jonathan's administration in oil and gas downstream sector never reduced under Buhari rather it doubled. So tell me another difference. Marketers no dey fear Buhari. Bunkering has doubled in the Niger delta. Smugglers are still doing their things. Police dey collect bribe as tomorrow no dey. Ministries are dead in service delivery. Etc. Btw, beauty is vain, Favour is deceit. |
This is the right policy given that rationing of Forex to persons in the good book of this administration has been the worst form of corruption after Abacha's loot. Let every company and business compete on equal footings. |
mfm04622:Stop doing Nairaland. Go and read your books. |
NOETHNICITY:What are you saying? Dasuki that was imposed on Jonathan by Northern oligarchs after 16 months of subsidy protest? We are talking about what happened 7 month after Jonathan was inaugurated and not 2 years after. |
focus7:This is the type of comment you get when dealing with persons with zero leadership experience. How often do you see Fashola and Ibeh Kachikwu criticizing their predecessors? Always easy talking from sideways. I am yet to see how Jonathan embezzled funds different from Buhari's $2.8 billion in 1978 stashed in London Bank. Is it Aisha that is conduit pipe for stealing/transferring Nigeria's money overseas? Get lost and continue being a sycophantic psycho. |
Standing5:You don't worth engaging in a debate. Once a psycophantic zombie, always hypnotized. The excess we had from the increase was shared by States (surep) The indisputable stats remains that Jonathan reduced poverty by 50%, increased middle class by 30% and was instrumental to making Nigeria the highest economy in Africa and 23rd in the world. Continue trusting Buhari while thousands die of hunger and starvation. |
Standing5:Get lost and stop the misinformation, the 2016 budget wasn't signed before then hence the term borrowed to pay salary on April, 2015 because the last budget lasted from March, 2014 to March, 2015. It would amount to illegality for a President to pay salaries without a budget signed into law. |
tomakint:I don't want to sound pessimistic and unpatriotic hence I encourage goodwill and excellency in service. We all want a better Nigeria or homeland for our future generations. |
modath:You and Ngwakwe self. Thanks for pointing out the blunder. It's a result of eagerness to reply your comment instead of focusing on my buying and selling. Notwithstanding, I have grammatical and poetic licenses to certain errors. By the way, I don't like doing political defenses for politicians without pay, I would've been your nightmare. |
DropShot:Tell me more, 7 months into his inauguration? You are wrong, nobody questioned or came up with Jonathan's integrity after 7 months into his administration until your fake, sponsored and bigoted anti-deregulation protest. His approval rating was at all time high of 70+ on December, 2011 |
