I agree that the rules can be amended, suspended or set aside, but there are procedure and that is 'majority in the house'
Now when was the last one amended- it was never amended
How come there ware discrepancies - it has been amended.
The question is is it by ghosthuh
You are right. Last year some aggrieved senators went to court to challenge the legitimacy of 2015 Senate standing rules but afterwards withdrew their case from court. This is a legitimate case where the litigants have locus standi but should not be the Executive because of separation of powers

Let's protect democracy, discourage dictatorship by encouraging separation of powers.

Good point. So tell us the name of the senator that propose for the amendment, suspension or setting aside of the 8th senate standing rule?

Likewise the names of the so called majority that support the amendment, suspension of the standing rulehuh?

Who preside over the amendment of the senate standing rule? When was it amended?

Pls educate me.
If I may ask, is it this same 2015 Senate standing rules that is quoted like 100 times on each senate seating / meeting for over a year now without a motion for amendment that is under dispute? Get off it, think reasonably beyond politics. This same document was used for ministerial confirmation, passing of 2016 budget among other landmark events since the 8th National Assembly.

Let's not digress, the debate is all about Executive interference on another independent organ of our government which is catastrophic to democracy.

Executive council meeting has their rules which is not subject to external scrutiny so is the Internal rules of the Senate.

If you understand the principle of locus standi in law, you will better appreciate my argument against dictatorship.

oh! You did not hear that hunkuyi , marafa , lawman , etc, went to court over the forgery of the standing rule?
Yes, their case had merit but unfortunately they have withdraw their case which forecloses the debate but alas, the Executive wants to act against the norms as if we are in a military regime.

so the many witnesses called are not senators who know about the alteration, but part of executive?
The Executive interference is the problem. The Executive branch of government initiated this particular case rather than the said Senators.

The Executive is not a party to Senate Standing rules.

You are an embarrassment to the wailing gang!
**** Senate standing rules are like resolutions and according to the guidelines, it can be suspended, amended or set aside at any point in time as may be requested by a "member" with the support of the majority. We know that the Executive is not a Senator hence lacks the locus standi to question the rules whatsoever.

As per the second question, keep quiet if you have no supporting facts to disprove my submissions?

So the many senators lined up as prosecution witnesses are executive senators?

Try to think harder before typing.
What matters is what the majority says. The Attorney General invite stands and he can't ignore it.

Some disgruntled elements will have their say while the majority have their way.

The Executive got no business or power over the internal rules of the Senate. The rules were used for virtually every business of the government till date and there is still no motion on the floor of the Senate calling for reversal, amendment or otherwise of 2015 Senate Standing Rules hence the accusation is frivolous, void and of no effect whatsoever.

Simply put, the Executive lacks the locus standi to challenge rules in court - simple

Senate says their rules weren't forged.

How is it the business of the Executive?

Senate summons Attorney General over forgery charges against Saraki, Ekweremadu

The Nigerian Senate has summoned the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to explain the basis for the forgery charges pressed against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

The resolution to summon Mr. Malami followed a motion by Dino Melaye who said on Tuesday that “there is impending threat to democracy” and that the executive arm of government plans to enthrone “one man rule”.

The senate wants the AGF to “explain and justify his action with evidence and why it does constitute gross abuse of his office”.

Six senators spoke in “total support” of the motion, saying “it is time to defend democracy”.

The government accuses Messrs. Saraki and Ekweremadu of falsifying the Senate Rules used in electing Mr. Saraki as senate president in June 2015.

The controversial election took place against the wish of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, which Mr. Saraki belongs to.

The senators said Tuesday the Standing Rules used for the elections of their presiding officers were not forged.

Speaking after the motion had passed, Mr. Ekweremadu said, “those who are using their office to persecute others should remember no condition is permanent”.

Most times I am baffled by the type of chicken mentality you exhibit.

By your logic Buhari also borrowed to pay salaries b4 budget was signed. Ok na.
So at ur age. U don't know that govt can spend a % of the budget before it is even signed to law?
Many illiterates in PDP
Certainly No, because he inherited a budget sign on May, 10th, 2015 while he signed 2016 budget same month, May, 2016 hence the one year budget duration was accommodated.

Instead of learning the basic things in bureaucratic governance, you are here still glorifying your ignorance.

Continue wallowing in ignorance

The Finance Minister then used the appropriate word "borrowed" because the budget wasn't signed into law.

Ask yourself, who paid for the borrowed money since the same government paid May salaries without borrowing?

Or like illegally withdrawing from the ECA to pay phantom subsidy claims and lieing that FAAC approved it......
Or learning how to open the Fx reserves gate for another Dansuki and the likes?
Lack of enlightenment is not only bad but dangerous

Point of correction, it was illegal to pay April, 2015 Salary without borrowing because the previous budget circle ended in March, 2015 while the 2015 budget was signed on 10th March, 2015 hence the term "borrowed".

Ask yourself where Buhari got money to pay his first Salary? Certainly, from the savings of past administration.

She can't spend un-appropriated funds.

Thank me later.

The real and imaginary sycophantic human being is you. If you believe based on fayose's link then you are that infested Ebola tomatoes from KANO. A carefully studied links proved otherwise. Does that picture tells you it is Aisha buhari's? She woman in question said she is Buhari's daughter and former EFCC boss is said to have denied it first, also Ribadu asked Buhari about the said name which he debunked as at that time. But hatred and mischievous people like you who are devil's agent who suck deep from these past evil leaders will stop at anything to paint Buhari and his government black. You will continue to hit hard Rock and fail.
Bla bla bla ...............

You are not Buhari neither are you Aisha, so swerve.

Fayose will defend himself when his immunity expires in 2018 and for now Aisha is accused of criminal conspiracy and she got no immunity hence let her defend herself.

If I remember vividly, it is now a year the hypocrite President ordered reopening of Halliburton scandal and yet nothing has happened.

Secondly, US has recovered half a billion dollar for Nigeria pending the conclusion of this case yet this government is refusing to bring back the loot because Aisha's name is there to tarnish his so-called dented integrity.

The radical opposition would've set the country on fire. The NASS would've invited Magu to explain the nonsense he just spewed but alas we have APC and Buhari, authoritarianism is now permissible.

FG Disburses N18.3b Counterpart Funds For Second Niger Bridge

The Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA)- managers of the more than $2 billion Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF)- has given a status report on the ongoing Second Niger Bridge project under a joint public, private partnership between the Nigerian Government and some private equity capital firms, including the NSIA.

According to the NSIA, the Nigerian government has so far disbursed N18.3 billion of her N30 billion commitment to the project, adding that the Fund too has so far spent $2.1 million on consultancy services. The information is contained in a status report on the project released by the NSIA in Abuja.

The total cost of the project was estimated at N108 billion at conception but it has gone up to N117.9 billion due to the falling value of the Nigerian currency in relation to other world currencies.

While reporting the progress status of the Second Niger Bridge, the Vice President, Infrastructure Investment and Special Advisor to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Project, Mr. Obinna Ihedioha, said it was initially estimated to cost N108billion, excluding duties and VAT (if duties and VAT are included), regretting that the project cost is now N117.9billion.

He gave reason for the increase in cost: “This was equivalent to $700million at the then prevailing exchange rate of N154/$. The final project cost would naturally be affected by exchange rate fluctuations and other variables.” The bridge will be constructed and operated on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
