Hello everyone, long time. How are we keeping up? Please don’t give up on this journey at whatever stage you are. It will be worth it. Things are still slow here but the economy is picking up gradually. It’s a new COVID way of life.

For those still at the ielts stage, this YouTube video has really helpful tips on how to pass Ielts in one sitting. She speaks from experience. All the best in this journey.

Hello, you should be worried. Please don’t claim points for professional degree if WES evaluates it as Bachelors (if you know you won’t do IQAS later before your application decision is over). There is a reason why WES and other evaluating bodies are required by CIC. It’s to help the VO’s decision. VO would rather follow the evaluation of these bodies than your explanation in LOE for the purpose of objectivity. If you evaluated your law degree with WES, claim the points equivalent to your evaluation to avoid issues. I personally have not seen anyone who used WES for evaluation and claimed professional degree for crs points yet got PPR without updating the application with IQAS afterwards.

My advice would be if you know you would submit your application after the end of May, claim points for professional degree, send your degree to IQAS for evaluation by May. Post-AOR after your IQAS evaluation is out, raise CSE and update your application with it. That was what @Romstar1 did and got PPR. Gaming maybe, but it worked. https://www.nairaland.com/5471101/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/194#84789156

NOC and degree evaluation are not related.

chubby89:

Oh dear, I'm a law graduate as well but my NOC is "HR and recruitment officers" I'm hoping to claim points for professional degree though my wes report states its a bachelors degree. Now I'm worried.

You appeal for reconsideration by drafting an LOE and attaching it when you raise the CSE. I will also advice you send a direct email too.
Please take your time to draft the appeal letter and be careful about your choice of words and how you argue it and the proof your show. It will determine if they will even reopen the case. If you like, you can send it to me and I can help edit.

Requesting for reconsideration won’t affect you reentering the pool. You can do both simultaneously. You don’t need to state in your letter that you reentered the pool. If your request for reconsideration is granted, you simply delete your new profile in the pool, if not, no p.

Request for reconsideration is free. But take your time with the letter. It’s the only make or mar instrument you have.

BelovedQuerida:
I will do this. However, do you know if this will stall my re-entry into the pool? Also, will it be at a cost?

BelovedQuerida:
Just putting all the options on the table really. We will definitely be appealing, just wanted to go into it fully informed. I have tried to raise CSE, but there is no option for appealing a rejection. Can you please assist (if you know how) on the exact process. Thank you.

Oh dear, I am so so sorry to read this. Stay strong as you already have. All the suggestions are on point. Please do as advised.

In addition, you can also try to write WES to request or argue a change. Please see picture attached featuring advice on Canada visa, especially the second paragraph. No harm in trying this too.

Apologies for not responding to your pm, but then NL is bigger than an individual, it’s what makes this forum so special. I wish you the best in your application.

BelovedQuerida:
Hi everyone. I need help. I have been a guest reader on Nairaland but just joined a few minutes ago. I started the EE process in 2018 with my family. Got ITA Feb 2019 and AOR May 2019. We just got a refusal notification and we are just devastated. I am a lawyer qualified to practice in Nigeria and was advised by my friend who got her PPR last year (also a lawyer) that my qualification entitles me to claim that my education qualification is equivalent to a professional degree. I did this and then evaluated both my LLB and law school result with WES. However, the refusal states that WES had not evaluated my qualification as a professional degree and as such I was ineligible to receive the ITA I received on the basis that my points dropped by 7 points. Right now I am just confused and I need guidance on so many things.

Please help anyone.

I just knew I would miss a very important announcement during my absence here. The tears of joy I am shedding right now ehn. I am so so happy for you. Congratulations!!! You did not deserve the long tiring wait but God knows best. His plans are better. The eagle has finally landed and it has ended in praise. Just know that it is not how far or 'fast', it's how well. Delayed PPR processing has no impact on integration and future well being in Canada. You're intelligent, organized and selfless so I have no doubt you would do well in our new country. I wish you all the best in your landing preps.

pejuhazel:
My PPR finally landed!!!
I cannot write as much as is expected but I'll try to put every relevant information here. I typed my testimony since April but I abandoned it when I heard nothing.
IELTS:
first attempt Sept 2018 8.5,8,9,6 LSRW
2nd attempt Oct 2018 8.5,8,9,8 LSRW
ECA:
I used WES since it was foreign degree and it was very straightforward, took about 17 days.
ITA: November 15 2018
Police Report: UK and Nigeria, also straightforward.
POF: 60% was gift from my dad so he did a gift deed while the rest came from my husband who wrote a letter that I had unrestricted access to it as I am the PA. We put the money in a fixed deposit and submitted the letter from the bank.
ADR: I got the Accra famous 5 on the 25th of April, submitted on the 27th and was waiting for PPR to drop in 2 weeks cos that was the trend then, well It didn't.
The Wait
This was horrendous and painful especially when people who submitted same time or after I did started landing in Canada. I started following this thread in Part 2, submitted in Part 6 and was hoping and praying that my wait won't be this long but here I am in Part 9 sharing my testimony. So if you're like me and the wait is getting to you, don't be sad it'll come.
Thank you @ladymarshal, @pyruvateluv, @Canadahome and everybody else who has taken time to answer my questions or ask about me. May God bless and answer all your prayers.
After 10 months and 7 days, Accra finally answered.
Timeline:
ITA: Nov 15th
AOR: Dec 31st
ADR: April 25th
PPR: Nov 7th

I think I replied your email after you sent this comment. Please let me know how the new one goes

jpj:

Hello, so we finally heard from them but unfortunately it seemed as if my letter was not read at all and a generic mail was sent insisting that my case was closed stating that if I have a new information, I should enter into the pool. I replied them back circling the part on my GCMS note written by my VO that no additional document was submitted so my case won't be reopened as the reason for my getting a new reference letter from my employer. I have been trying to send you an email but it keeps bouncing back. Needed to update you on my challenge. Hope you have finally landed Canada?

Hello Fellow Nairalanders,

I am glad to say it's PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am super thankful, especially as this journey tested both faith and resilience.

That people is our story. Thank you so much for this wonderful thread. I learned a lot. Forgive typos and errors as they were not intentional.

We are indeed blessed, no lies. I am super grateful to the Almighty who looked favourably on us. I also used the feedback form to thank the CPC and our Case Officer for their kind gesture.

It has ended in Praise for me and may it end in praise for you all.

I’ve already submitted updated POF. I considered that before I got GCMS today, I received an ADR last week for updated POF and I thought it would be more complicated to change POF since they are asking for an update. Submitted that and got re-medicals almost immediately.

You need to raise a CSE asap explaining that there might have been an omission somewhere or an oversight by the VO. Resubmit the POF docs and an updated bank statement to prove the money is still there and request a positive consideration. You will get PPR once they get the new docs.

Congrats to all the ITA and PPR clinchers. Canada will favour us. I missed engaging here. It's been overwhelming prepping for landing. All the best to those still expecting ITA. Do not give up.

How many years was your masters, what was the session year on your transcripts and what was the year of graduation on your certificate? That will determine my advice.
Jay35:
Hello everyone, I am a silent reader and I’ve been reading up previous threads.
I’m on pre ITA. I’ve got some questions to ask.

I completed my BSC in 2014 then I started working almost immediately till date, started my full time MSC in 2015 alongside a full time job. My question is, I read about work experience and some people advised to fill part time as the nature of study.
I know working alongside schooling outside Canada is accepted since it’s not stated on the cic website.

My question is do I fill part time schooling and if it won’t be seen as misinterpretation?
Has anyone filled full time schooling with working full time and has gotten PR?

No problem. She should not use the bank's letterhead for the reference without HR's permission, in case CIC decides to verify from HR, as is the norm for big institutions.

Cryptomania:
It was a mortgage bank, quite popular bank. The MD was more like a supervisor too during the period she was working in the bank. We want to avoid the bureaucracy involved in going through the HR. And she left the bank some 5 years ago. The former MD is more accessible than going through the HR.

My question still is, is there a problem if the former MD writes the reference letter.

@bold cheesy cheesy grin I've not even thought of that angle o grin grin Even first class citizens are leaving too if not for the money or job, at least for the passport grin Nice work you're doing here. Praying for your PPR soonest

bankyh1905:
Brilliant question! It applies so widely to government policies. Who gets what, matters a lot. This is partly the reason why when someone queries me and asks "So you want to go and be a second-class citizen in a foreign land, ehn?" I've always answered with a question of my own: "who told you that I'm a first-class citizen in Nigeria?". undecided

Meanwhile, I thought you had left us here ni o until @yemblaze explained to me. Please stay, your words of wisdom are still required grin

Na our naija style you just describe so o grin Oyibo people don't act like that. Especially Canadians, they're very fair. Your application is legal and they're legally binded to give you PPR within processing time if your application is authentic. They are extremely patient and will keep apologizing or sending the 'queue for review' email until they finish working on your file. They themselves know they have failed in their promise once your application exceeds 6 months. Don't fear. Sign that petition joor.

@bold shocked shocked angry God forbid. We will meet in Canny this December or early next year

johnnybravo1990:

Even if my application will take 2 years, so be it. Whenever it will come, it will come. Use discretion is all I’m saying. Don’t make them get pissed and use an iron hand on us. They can get super-pissed and deal with the applicants. They can punitively decide to spot even minute faults and deny many people their applications. We all know no application is perfect, and applications sent to AVO had one fault or the other; that was the reason most of the applications were sent there. When people(AVO personnel) are under pressure, the more you bug them, the more they get crazy and may overreact.

The last petition was around Nov/Dec 2018 I think. And there was heavy rain Jan to March, maybe it worked or maybe AVO was just in the post-xmas holiday giving mood

yemblaze:
Same time last year..Accra was like this and no amount of Twitter or petition will change anything. I wonder why they are delaying but as soon as they are ready...it will rain PPR and we will rejoice with everyone.
