Hello Wealth,

I am no way close to being a guru... But this is from a friend who's now a permanent resident in Canny from the PR route.

He completed his 2yrs Masters programme, got a 3-year work permit, and on the 2nd or 3rd year of working, he applied for PR, which he eventually got.

I know these things - a completed study programme (M.Sc or Ph.D) especially in Canada and work experience in Canada plus a valid Job offer in Canada shoots up the PR points of an applicant.

Just my suggestion, I feel if you follow this sequence, you will get your PR with ease
.
Please gurus here please help me out.
What are my options for PR if all I have is a one year LLM?

How long did it take you in Ghana from the point you applied and date you got approved for it? What is the duration of studies for the LLB there in Ghana?
I applied May 19 and was approved July 9. LLB duration in Ghana is two years for the public universities and three years for private universities

I asked because LLB is based on common law tradition not offered in Nigeria. Makes sense. Ghana has a pretty good educational system and some of its students are the brightest from Africa. The country is good too, most of the student who study in th west, return back to their countries after their studies. Are you Ghanian or Nigerian? Where did you apply for your TRV?
I'm Ghanaian and I applied in Ghana

So you have been in Canada or Europe before? Otherwise, where is your LLB from?
I have never traveled outside Africa. I'm an African borga. My LLB is from Ghana.

my bad. just seeing it now. victory2017 copied ur post and congratulated u at d tail end.

congrats once again. I love ur timeline. less than 7weeks. kindly share ur profile
I started the school application process in December 2016.
With the help of one of my professors in university I put together a tight research proposal. I received my offer in January. I had a lot of back and forth to do because I got my LLB from a private law school in Ghana. So I had to chase affiliation documents, etc. A very stressful experience
but I had a conviction in my spirit that it was
time.
I work two jobs. One at an NGO that is known in Ghana in the field of my research proposal and one from the university I finished at as a teaching assistant. So I got two strong letters from these places. I didn't attach pay slips. I did attach evidence that I worked there especially for the NGO. There were reports we had done with my name on, photographs with prominent people in my field, etc. So there was no question about my working there. The two letters also indicated that they want me to come back after my schooling and even offered promotions on my return.
I also followed the questions for the sop carefully and answered in that order. I brought in bits of my research proposal.
My references were also very tight as the two professors I went to gave me glowing reviews.

Documents submitted:
BECE certificate
Senior High school transcript and testimonial
First degree certificate
Second degree transcript because the degree certificate wasn't ready and the school indicated that in an attachment to the transcript
My bank statement for the past four months or so which showed just about GHC 10000
The scholarship offer of about CAD 25000
My curriculum vitae

That's about it.

I also prayed a lot and did not steal from God by withholding my tithes and offerings.
I believe this was key in my getting everything

I hope I haven't left anything out.

All the best to those still waiting.

Remember Habakkuk 2:3.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.

Why are you going for LLM? You know you can't practice law with the degree right? It's only good for those wanting to do law research. If you want to practice law, LLB is what should been your route. At any length, congrats! Please put up your profile so aspirants can gauge.
I already have an LLB. My interest is in research and teaching.

Hello bosses,

This is for those who are yet to get an update concerning their applications, please be patient. I am sure applications for fall are being looked into now. However, if yours is beyond the application processing time, please send a case specific enquiry to CIC, they would be in the best position to give you an update.

Secondly, this is to all silent readers who have submitted their apps or who are yet to submit. Please, if you have submitted, kindly update the house, so we can add it to the list of trv hopefuls. It is not when you have issues, that you will run in here and tell us to help. We will always do our best to help but please help others too by letting us know your timeline. Also, if you are yet to submit and you are a silent reader, let us know when you do too...

It will end in praises for us all....

Schwartz and Onegai....Please how can one know noodles that doesn't contain MSGhuh

I'm An Addict.
The msg in the sachet contained in the noodles package. It is the msg however that gives packaged noodles its distinctive and delicious flavor. What's to be done then? Limit your intake or eat it without the flavor sachet. However I hope you're aware that msg is also found in maggi cubes and the like.

As a christian I think the Bible lays little priority on the methodology used in ridding one's self of a dead body. Jesus Christ even said the the dead should burial themselves luke 9:59-60. The same Bible also talks about our returning to the dust (ashes?)
The issue of cremation is taken seriously in some cultural/traditional climes but not religious(christianity as least)
Thanks for clearing that up for me

A lot of guys deceive ladies just to get under their panties these days. I'm also guilty of this. But, truth be told, ladies don't guys who are sincere. They prefer living in that fantasy land created by the guy than reality. On many occasions have ladies said one thing or the other to guys over lying.
He said he was standing in for his cousin who was getting married but lived abroad so he couldn't be present. Turns out he lied and he was the one getting married.

OP why are you lying and pretending you did any valid research to come out with this post? Why are you generalising so much and you have some dumb lambs agreeing with you?
The research I've done says otherwise. Most of them are well paid and claim to be happy. They say they feel safe in their working environment even if it's porn. How many of you can claim safe in your offices where sexual harassment is rife?

obiorathesubtle:
cheesy cheesy alright, I hereby request to be tutored in the supposed explicit language of women as ye have given thy humble student opportunity to ask and be given.
The language of the woman

These are ten elements of the language that women use, as identified by Robin Lakoff in 1975. Of course, not all women use all of this language all of the time, and some may question the whole.

1. Hedging
Hedging provides a way out, should disagreement occur, qualifying statements with non-absolute language, such as 'sort of', 'I guess', etc.

Well, I sort of looked at him, and then he kind of looked back. Then I guess I kept looking.

2. Politeness
Politeness is taken to more extreme forms, either putting the speaker in an inferior position or seeking to be thoughtful and non-threatening towards the other person.

Do excuse me, but I would really appreciate it if if you could take a little time to help me.

3. Tag questions
Tag questions added to the end of a statement do not change the statement, although they do seek agreement.

You would do that, wouldn't you?

4. Emotional emphasis
The emotional content of sentences are increased through the use of intonation that emphasizes and exaggerates emotional.

You are so very kind. I really want you to know I am so grateful.

5. Empty adjectives
Adjectives are applied to soften and add friendly elements to the sentence, although they are do not add any particularly meaningful content.

What a charming and sweet young man you are!

6. Correct grammar and pronunciation
Care is taken to be correct with language and speech. Colloquialisms and slang are used far less than men.

I would be very appreciative if you could show me the way.

7. Lack of humor
Humor is not used very much and jokes are very seldom told.

8. Direct quotations
The words that people said are often quoted, even quoting people who quote other people.

Then she said that he said, "I won't do it." So I said, "Why not?"

9. Extended vocabulary
Rather than simple language, vocabulary is extended to use descriptive language. Thus, for example a precise language is used to describe colors.

The walls should be cerise, with a royal blue tracer.

10. Declarations with interrogative intonation
Statements are made, but using the intonation used for questions, rising at the end of the statement.

That sounds like a good thing to do?

Lakoff, R. (1975). Language and woman's place. New York: Harper & Row

Now I hope you have learned something new about women.

undecided I had no idea what op was saying, even after reading that post 3 times.

Women have a secret language!
Women don't have a secret language. It's probably just different but it's easily learnt. Ask and ye shall receive.
RomanceHow A Woman Can Learn To Read Between The Lines Of What A Man Says by ladyvan88(op): 10:02pm On Nov 23, 2015
To successfully read between  the lines of what a man says
1. Do not attach emotions to a man's word. This means do not be emotionally carried away with a man's talk
2. Always listen to a man's eyes more than his mouth!
3. What names his closest family and  friends call you is a primary pointer to what he really takes u for
4. Always do your best to access his "sure" level in all situations especially when he's advised. How often he dances to your tune or other peoples tunes makes you his level of "sure"
5. Also how often a man changes his mind makes you read between  the line. Any man that easily changes his mind or is easily convinced can easily switch affection to other things or persons  and is often unstable at heart. Note my use of the word persons instead of woman because he can decide one day that he's actually gay. Lol grin

It takes a strong man ALL of his willpower to change his mind NOT other people's willpower
