njokuuche77: As long as his people is fine with his leadership, it's ok Nigeria is a good case study here. We’ve practiced democracy for years, but many citizens still struggle with poor governance, insecurity, and economic hardship. So it’s understandable why some people question whether democracy is truly working for them.
That said, the problem may not be democracy itself, but how it is practiced. Weak institutions, corruption, and lack of accountability often undermine its benefits.
If the people of Burkina Faso genuinely support Ibrahim Traoré’s approach, then that’s their reality. But history across Africa has shown that removing democratic structures entirely can create even bigger risks, especially around power abuse and lack of accountability.
Afterall UAE, Quarter, Bahrain, China etc are being ruled by same person. Not the type of government but the quality of the leader. One good patriotic leader or even a benevolent dictator is better than a thousand Nigerian Democrats and democratic process in the last 15 years.
It makes perfect sense..Everyone has a value. Wisemen know how to use this.
Just like saying the only people to vote for him should perfect people.
Or discounting the votes and removing the votes of every contractor, every prostitute, every civil servant, every yahoo yahoo, every Nigerian who jumped the queue, bribed his way, exported or cheated someone etc
This is now very ridiculous..so the end game is one party system. Zero opposition. Zero election or contest.
Sponsor moles in all major parties. Sufficiently fund them and work with law interpreters to ensure instability in all the major contending parties.
Create internal chaos, division and factions. The governors panic and join APC to avoid winning an election and be told the wrong faction signed your form or nominated you as party flag bearer and get thrown out.
Analog95: Hello guys, I humbly need you all view on this. All my life I have always wanted to be a lecturer, so early this year (January, 2025), I finally got awarded PhD in Applied Mathematics. Though I had my first degree in Mechanical Engineering, masters in Applied Mathematics with specialization in fluid dynamics and PhD in Applied Mathematics with specialization in fluid dynamics as well. During my study, I run a tutorial centre and making cool money from teaching mechanical engineering and mathematics students. So after obtaining my PhD I started sending out my CV to people I know in institutions, though most are of the opinion that I shouldn't have switched from mechanical engineering to mathematics that it will give me problem.
Around January 2025, immediately after my PhD oral examination, my supervisor linked me up with the rector of a polytechnic to go submit my CV to him, which I did, and according to the rector, he told me that it is not matter of CV for now, because most people that he employed as assistant lecturers, they really don't have much to pay them and the governor of the state has promised that he will do recruitment for the polytechnic around March because of accreditation processes, so during that recruitment, I can be employed. Fast forward to March, the accreditation went on and I wasn't informed if the recruitment was later done (you know all this underground stuffs), so I later got my mind off the institution and look at for another university in other states which I was promised also that once there is directives to start recruitment, I will be employed.
On the 3rd of july, 2025, I got a call from someone from the polytechnic, telling me to come to the personnel department as soon as possible with my credentials, when I got there, he collected photocopies of my credentials and on sighting the mechanical engineering as first degree, he said which department do I want and I said mathematics and he said why not mechanical engineering where I had my foundation, so I said I preferred mathematics because since I switched to mathematics, I have published 11 academic journal with 7 of them Scopus rated in Q1, and I have also attended 7 seminars with certificate to back them up, and I have also been a member of the Nigerian mathematical society (NMS), so he said they will get back to me.
Since then I haven't heard anything. After a month, I made a call to the person that I submitted my credentials to at the personnel department, that I haven't heard from them and he said "sebi we are the one that called you ourself, the process is ongoing and once we are ready, we will definitely call you back". But I haven't heard from them still. It is almost two months now since I submitted the credentials and I am already losing faith.
I am just confused, could my changing from engineering to science be hindering me from getting a lecturing position? If it is, does it make sense to go back and obtain another master and PhD in mechanical engineering and just forget about the mathematics? Or just forget about lecturing and focus on my tutorials, meanwhile I make more than 500k monthly from the tutorial because it is in school area, but I don't want to be a tutor forever, not even with a PhD.
Pls contact me. Or gow can I contact you?? Any email or phone number
masterfactor: ACF miss fire here, it's only in the south East that acquiring land is not allowed by stranger except you are an indigene of that state ACF are still leaving in stone age.
Big fat lie. How do you make a comment like this. Haba. How could people promote what they have not experienced.
You can buy any land. I mean any land if you have the money in the east. Unless its a community land that dose not belong to an individual
Go anywhere in the east and say you want to buy land and see if they wont sell.
This is no story. It is a free market driven by market forces. You can choose to import or refine locally. Market forces will drive competition otherwise we might be in another cement monopoly
Real politicians who played in the field keep recognizing the force that Obi pulled in 2023 and is still pulling.
Fayose: “Obi is an institution now”.
Jandor: “Obi tsunami swept PDP away in Lagos.”
But riffraffs will stay under their brown roofs in Ogbomoso and be foaming in the mouth.
Don’t worry, 2027, una go see the one wey pass Beatrice.
Finally, the God fathers of Nigerian politics got ahead and turned the detribalized progressive movement into the old but proven and effective wand that have held the people back for over 80 years- tribe, ethnicity and fear of the only friend, and neighbour you have none all your life from a different tribe..
The old tricks works always and can be relied upon. The politicians know its magic and will always use it to the detriment of the never decerning masses.
Nigeria is a quasi socialist state where people help alleviate the suffering of other Nigerians as the government continues to fail horribly to take up its responsibility but create the hardship. The intent of the group and individuals that organised these help events is the true Nigerian spirit to help, same is also the true Nigerian spirit to scamper for survival in the midst of obvious lack created by the governments.
The government created this jungle spirit, of survival of the fittest through the taking of our common resources leaving very little for the hungry many- which leads to things like this. We see it on our roads, and in everywhere resources or value are available. Nigerians scamper, even when they japa. The mentality really never leaves you. They take what they may never need because they never know when you will see the next..........even in food bank¹ The danger of this arrest of people who are doing what government should do, is that these organizations may become careful and restrained and not help because they never know how Nigerians will behave and the poverty deepens, people will not be helped. Afterall no body ever saw the distribution of the palliative that government said it gave to states.
Nigerian goverment through independence is the culprit. Yes. They are the one to be arrested as much as this present government that has further amplified the suffering by their policies and actions. Not the people who are trying to help or people who have been deprived and poor. Hunger make you an annimal. And no one should blame the people who died. The government created this scamper and hungry situation and mentality in the country. It's the government
Tooreda: You also noticed how those unfortunate ones are celebrating up there. Those guys are irredeemable idiots.
Don't curse anyone They have a work to do and earn a living. And maybe they are truely convinced about the government. It's their right to be. Most people would charge their mind and promote the government if they benefit from it. Doyin Okupe is a classic example and many others. You can't criticise where you benefit from.
The onus is on dose who don't to stay the course and defend their commitment to good governance for all. And not to see good governance from the lenses of others, tribe, religion, greed etc but on their well being and that of their neighbours
alanto: She's a politician I believe she's saying what the UK people wants to hear.
The higher level, is getting the masses think and move in the direction you want them to. That is the ultimate test of great people, be they inventors, entertainers, politicians, faith leaders etc They don't follow the people, they lead them. The masses will oppose but ultimately the masses will follow his lead. And a new civilization will be birth
Cheap leaders and politician conform and are driven by the people, great leaders influence the people, lead them to great revolution and create new civilization. Which one is kemi
When people are in need and desperate, they pray, fast and call on God for help. When they come to a place of comfort and the pressure to conform, become more acceptable by the people and integrated, they forget God.
I have seen kids do it to their parents, men do it to to their tribesmen, husband to wife, sister to brother and so on. The need to conform and be more acceptable. Lack self confidence and worth in who you are, regardless of what anyone thinks. I think people can appreciate Donald Trump....ot for anything more than the confidence to be himself and not be bullied to submission rather he stood his ground and made every other person conform.
It's easy to not belive in God when things are comfortable but most unlikely when thing go south. The increase in mental health, depression, suicide and emptiness seen in today's world results from the denial of God. Suddenly, the person finds the world and everything worthless, and wonder what all this is for and why living. Believing in God assures mental health, identity and bring deeper sence of peace.
..the Yorubas are the most ethnically sectional tribalistic region in the whole geographical expression..they will accuse others of tribalism...while perpetrating tge worst tribalism in the history of the country..
..even the poo in hari is a shadow of bigotry & nepotism when compared to Thief'nubu's tribalism..
..BATists..come & insult thee real omoluabi Afenifere because they spoke the truth against parapoism & tribalism..
..fake progressive a"s"s"es..
..ready. ?
..gooooo.
BUHARI DID THE SAME AND SET THIS BIGOTRY IN MOTION
DONT GENERALIZE, THESE MEN ARE HONORABLE,THEY ARE YORUBA CALLING OUT THEIR OWN FOR THIS ACION. I CANT RECALL HEARING THIS FROM THE NORTH WHEN BUHARI IS IN POWER. PLEASE GIVE THEM CREDIT.
Maysdevices: A black man will always be a black man
Disgusting creatures
But polygamy might be in various categories. One man marries three wifes . Another man marries one at a time but have divorced two. I guess both are polygamy. Look for any reason to divorce....any reason including we out grew each other, the children got btw us....and many more
MrBrownJay1: and so?! i dont get where the problem is. if someone offers you a job, if you dont want it, you say no and jejely walk the fukc out... but dont pretend that because children pay 200k for school fees, you can dictate how much you deserve as a teacher in that school. thats what the school is offering, take it or leave it! so you mean that if they were schooling for free, then you would also work for free?!
stop looking at other people's finances... in order to try to lift yourself up, as you dont know what they spend that money on: - are you paying the rent for the building? - are you paying the electricity/equipment used in that school? - are you paying for the free food that these kids possibly get? - are you paying for all the extracurricular outings and activities that these children learn? - are you paying the salary of all the other staff and owners of that school?
Great response. Seems you own a business. Most comments are from people who do not understand the risk , challenges and dangers in owing and managing a business. They look at the bulk pack relative to their earning.in addition multiple taxation, higj interest on loans, maintenance cost, security, operstions cost etc..Maybe given the economic crunch perent may not always be early and complete with the fees
And gow about the government that was paying 30k. They ha e not implemented the 70k raise.
While I think employers to make better profit to share a bit more with employees, the issue isn't how much one earns, but how bad the economy is. People who earn $6k in North America live a decent life.
I weep for Nigeria. In a year this may go up to the actual value. This is gradual and phased introduction.
What is it, that Nigerian Government offers to its people. A Nigerian pays for everything.
Is the govt not listening to the cry if it's people Haba!!!. The more they cry, the more the Government imposes more tough measures with no reprieve of any kind. Haba
What business is he involved in or did he start prior 1999 to validate the size of his wealth.
We can link Dangote to rice, sugar, then cement, pasta, banking etc...now oil and gas Link Elumelu, Jim....... to banking Abiola o Telecoms, food, sport etc Adenuga to oil and ad exploration and communication. Banking Otedola to oil and gas trading and banking
Although it coukd be argued that these guys significant benefited from government and government officials and corruption in some cases.....at least you can trace a business
Which did Tinubu start or is remotely affiliated to him, that has done well to justify the size of his wealth
Has anybody asked this so called experts and promoters of the CNG message of the sustainability of this.
We dont have enough gas for power generation. Not enough for LPG. Most gas is from AG wells. Very limited NAG wells. No one is drilling has wells other than those mostly for LNG.
If we failed with petrol, we will fail a thousand times more should 30% of vehicles be converted to CNG.
The problem is neither petrol nor gas, the problem is exclusively administration and corruption in the sector and broader Nigeria..
This is expert opinion. You can ask any competent person in core oil and gas technical or commercial leadership position.
sleek214: Nice. That's how to support your candidate. When he's going the wrong way, call him out... When you criticise your candidate, it makes him better Not what many of Tinubu supporters and obi supporters are doing..... Asslicking their candidates
Igbo, Yoruba, Huasa Ijaw Fulani etc Leaders and everyone should learn from this man. This is a true patriot.
I am shocked surprised that this man can publish this blunt truth about his kins man without clearing whose ox is gored. I am not sure I have seen similar leaders of his kind from any part of the country with this courage to challenge his own without seeking for government patronage,,promote ethnic bigotry as seen in nairaland and ignore his people.
Ohanaeze Aruwa, Afanifere.......learn from this honorable man.
As if TINUBU needs anyone's vote to be president. He doesn't. He didn't in 2023, he probably wouldn't in 2027 that is evident in his actions. People vote didn't make him president so he owes no one anything.
Very crapy transport organization. The bus stopped us on the way, in the middle of no way. People called their office multiple times no response. The driver was clueless on what to do.
Everyone scampered and hitch hiked any vehi les they.cpuld get and left the scene. People were dead frightened. Everyone concerned they could be kidnapped any comment.
I wondered how they could put that quality of bus on the road for a long distance trip.
If I buy at this price and ship it via air to door delivery, delivery cost maybe up to N100,000
I need to pay customs duty fee up to N100,000
I need to pay staff plus maintenance cost and tax, let’s say N90,000 to N100,000 sha from the proceed.
If I make profit of N200,000
The total amount should be N650,000
Now the supermarket is selling for N950,000.
Well the government officials are not far from the truth, people are extremely greedy in this country. Though, the same government making mouth, did they realise the cost of running business had hit the roof? Fuel is almost N1,000 which is affecting almost everything in the country.
Think about cost of capital at current interest rate of 35% Cost of diesel Cost of insurance Have yiu considered rent Hiw about impact of fx fluntuation that yiu need to anticipate and sell a bit higher than current fx, should.fx number move north when yiu are ready to make next import.
FreeStuffsNG: The loan, introduced by President Bola Tinubu, seeks to provide accessible financial aid to students who struggle to afford the rising costs of tuition and related expenses.
According to Ayitogo, “NELFUND sent a verification list to every eligible institution. Only those that responded are receiving funds. We have not yet received any responses from institutions in the South-East.”. He was quoted as saying “There is no consideration of geopolitical zones in disbursement.”
O pari. Senators and HOR from SE who toiled hard to get this law passed will be shocked beyond words!
It is now clear that nobody excluded the SE and Igbo. As a matter of fact, Patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction and other Nigerians studying in institutions located in the South-East are just victims of bad luck! . Their fellow Igbo kith and kin studying in other geopolitical zones made the list and had since been credited with the funds. Patriotic Nigerians of Igbo extraction studying outside Igboland, like others from other regions, are successful beneficiaries of this brilliant and patriotic initiative of the Asiwaju Tinubu Presidency.
Here is the lesson; when you hate, criminally defame and point accusing fingers at an innocent person, the remaining 4 fingers of illwind you wish others are pointing at you! You bless Nigeria, Nigeria will bless you, you curse Nigeria, Nigeria will curse you and your generations and nothing you sow in Nigeria or outside Nigeria will be blessed because the curse will follow you around!
May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!
There is no excuses for not including SE. I track this section of the country has not been in politics and everyone labelled them politically immature, they can't come together, they are not united, they have a lot to learn from the more politically matured North and west. Yet the only time a candidate from the south east made front page, they were now labelled hate, tribalism etc haba Nigeria. The success of the country might just lie in integrating th east and not victimising or antagonising them. They are true Nigerians making investment in nearly every region, speaking the language I their locals and marrying from that community or tribe
But go back to history, this section of the country voted massively for NPN, a northern dominated party, voted SDP for Abiola and massively voted Obasajo which the west did not vote for despite having candidates from Eastern region.
Anyway, they can be excluded as they have always been excluded from nearly all federal privileges. They have hardly had scholarship. If any understands the psychology of human stualization and development, this kind of thing makes a people stronger not weaker, it makes them more determined and desperate to succeed against all odds.
If you are in doubt....take a look at the country today. The SE has bearly been in control of power and resources ( zik was a ceremonial president. The power was with tafawa. Ironsi ruled for less than 6 months and mostly stabizing the country) yet they literally dominant the middle class with most per capital income per tribe. The North and West has been, though they produce perhaps the richest man but the masses in these regions are generally poorer.
This kind of behavior makes people stronger, braver and mkre determined to succeed. They have not always depended on FG. It dose make them weaker. They rose from the civil war, decimated and distroyed to control resource of the country way outside their territory making others insecure. This action continues to diminish petrotism and stoke the flame of division. At this rate Nigeria.may ultimately breakup and that might be the best for the country.
ikorodureporta: PALLIATIVES: LASG DISTRIBUTES ‘OUNJE EKO’ TO RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN LAGOS
In furtherance of its humanitarian intervention to cushion the effects of the harsh economy, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has commenced the distribution of 20, 000 food packs to Religious Leaders across the five divisions of the State.
Speaking to journalists during the presentation to Religious Leaders earlier today, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Adewunmi Ogunsanya stated that this action was a continuation of the State government’s intervention programme which cuts across all sectors in the State.
He noted that the Ministry has commenced the distribution of 20,000 food packs, which consist of 10kg Rice, 5kg Beans and 5kg Garri, to be given to all over 94 Associations of both the Christian Muslim communities in the State.
Ogunsanya explained that representatives of each religious group have been invited and they have started collecting the palliatives on behalf of the various associations.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the distribution has been decentralised so that 3000 packs of 'Ounje Eko’ will be distributed per day to each Religious body, adding that each division of the State will receive 500 packs each to be shared among its members.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Islam, Dr. Abdullahi Jebe hinted that the gesture from the State Government will go a long way to alleviate the effect of the present economic pressure on the religious communities, as food remains an essential part of man’s basic needs.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christianity, Very Reverend Adebukola Adeleke noted that the State Government is sensitive to the plights of the Religious Leaders and their members, hence the need for the distribution of the food palliatives to assuage the high cost of food in the markets.
The distribution, which commenced today, Wednesday will continue till Tuesday, 20th August, 2024.
Is this another knee jack one off reaction after which the people are on their own. Or is this a sustained help program designed to support the people for the long run
Botragelad: I told you lot a few days ago, these extremists, criminals, some illegals are trouble. I called them out for their criminal behaviour and got attacked for it by some here.
Now, Muslim gangs are trying to attack anyone who disagrees with them, waving weapons around despite all the recent stabbings and terrorist attacks they've been responsible for. Religious extremists are always a threat, and you need to deal with them.
Look at Bangladesh, the military's taken over and Islamic extremists are burning Hindu temples. No one's saying a word. People need to stand up for our own and defend their homes from Invaders. The threat's real, and we can't ignore it.
The biggest problem we've got now is traitors and extremely woke liberals who think it's trendy to cuddle with terrorists.
Well, this is what happens when you let them flood into your country and do as they please. Notice how their supporters never say a peep about it, but the minute you stand up to them or defend your own, they twist the whole story and scream 'racist' or 'Islamophobe'. It's a bloody disgrace.
I can't stop wondering why a set of people who out of empathy and pity were admitted into another mans land_ leaving their war ravaged and impoverished country, come into another mans land to promote their religion and way of life which made them poor and ravaged by war.if your religion and way of life was that good, why are you not better in your country. Why are you no ahead??
They can go back to their land and oractice their religion and hate. I am sick of this kind of things.
what were they doing since this hardship. If they did what is expected of them maybe the protest may not have began.
This is clearly how people begin to loose interest and value for these institutions. They are always quick to take the side of their pay master. They should be engaging the govt and negotiating on behalf of their people.
