There's this school in my area that started in 2017 with a small bungalow. Before it was just a Nursery and primary school but as of today the building is already a 4 storey building because they now have both secondary school.

From the look of this building you will know that its a disaster waiting to happen. There are visible cracks around the building which they always use plaster and paint to cover. I want to report it to the appropriate authority but I don't know how to do so.

Failure of building is as much a failure of institutions, SON, COREN, NSE etc as it is the designers, engineers and owners of the properties.

Have you gone to the market to see the size of 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm and 25mm reinforcement rods compared to what it used to be. They can't pass the carrying capacity they are supposed to have. If you build houses you will know.

How about the cement.?? No one is validating the quality of these materials.

We use to have technical school to train carpenters and mason under the city and guide certificate??

The reference document for structural design is the British standard just like American pharmecubia and British pharmacobia for drug making. The specifications are there. When the structural engineer designs a building based on those spec. What you get in the market is different. Substandard. So the load bearing capacity is reduced and the building may fail

What about the govt agencies.?? When you send drawing for review, the agencies are more concerned about the money they want to collect from you than review the design. Once you pay, the drawing is approved the next day. What is qualification, experience and manpower capacity of these approving agencies.

Multiple taxation during building, economic challenges and bad behaviour of nigerians, so the owner cut corners since they may not have all the monies to meet these demands, engineer is handling multiples sites and only spend 5min and use a mason as fore man.............and the list goes on

This is complex nigeria problem.

This is someone who spoke against one of the best regimes in the history of this country, the Goodluck Jonathan government. He even went as far as describing the then president, Goodluck Jonathan, to be worse than Nebuchadnezzar.
Come on do you expect him to say anything against this government ruled by his benefactor who gave him shelter and food when his place was vandalized nearly a quarter of a century ago. It's logical for all igbo to support the creation of Anioma state. That is the only logical decsion to bring together all igbo speaking people in Rivers, Delta, Kogi, Benue, Cross river and Akwa Ibom.

Why further breakup the already existing igbo states when we have igbo leaving in these other mixed states. These politicians and their self serving interest.

In a 4-minute video, Ife Salako, who identifies as an Obidient, with a view of showing the hypocrisy in the Professor's words, beamed the light on some of the 'physically aggressive' and 'criminally minded' supporters the octogenarian shares a support base with.

He also touched on the life Wole Soyinka himself lived as a youth dissatisfied with the country, and the role played by cultism which he played a role in sowing the seeds in Nigeria.

Ife went on to suggest that the Professor's age may have inspired such 'juvenile' approach to issues and admonished him to not ruin the country further.
Really, what has soyinka to say about the behaviour of people in government? Are they civil and well behaved? Do they care an inch about this country? Do they even have a clue of what they are doing? Listen to ideas and comments from them. It's simply base.

Previous generations have been civil, docile, and lazy to confront anything, did it bring them any prosperity or happiness.?? Take a look at the country. They feared for everything, full of sentiments, promoted the bad parts of our cultural stupidity and selfish interest. They saw a better government than what they have in and will be leaving for the next generation.

They have also been very tribal, religiously biased and selfish, are they better off with it?? They live in a country that have significantly decayed beyond how they met it. Those are the people we have in government. Those are the people Soyinka want the youth to emulate. They are more badly behaved than the youth. Do not listen to him.

The government is diverting the attention of the simple.minded to think that anybody other than the government is responsible for the hardship. Economoc Commentors, journalist, and even the very impoverished people crying out loud of hardship. They say the hungry people wailing for food and frusterted about the economy are demarketing the country. They are making victims people whose business is struggling and have become uncertain due to the very policy the govt deployed,

It still baffles me how anybody can believe this and fall for it.. What has the govt done to help the people. Can someone tell me?? Anything to ease the suffering of people.

Let's focus on the real problem. Who has enough money to buy enough food. By the time they finish selling what they have, what will be left, if current economic hardship persist.

Farmer can't go back to farm, and the country is dependent on import and fx is at a runaway rate. Think, how will clamping down on these folks help the situation. Another case of tackling the obvious symptoms and leaving the root cause.
