Rido007:The biometric completion was done earlier. |
Hi everyone, silent reader here. PPR received for my nephew today. Application submitted on October 26th, 2023. PPR and BVL received on March 25th, 2024. IRCC appear to be sticking to their current timelines. Praying that all those waiting receive favourable responses very soon. |
Good evening guys PPR received for my sister and her kids Application submitted: May 18th, 2022 BVL & Passport Request Letter: July 17th, 2023 Finally, after over a year we received the good news last week! QQ- my sister’s passport is expiring in Feb 2025. We didn’t think the visa process would take over a year and now she’s looking at a visa validity period of 1.5 years (i.e from now to early 2025). Would you advise that she renews her passport now so she can get a longer term visa ? Please note that her passport expiry is well over 6 months from now. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and wishing all those still waiting good news very soon. |
@emmafe please how did you contact our MP regarding your application. Thanks, |
My Landing Gist... I arrived Toronto Pearson Airport from Lagos via Frankfurt (Lufthansa) on 03/12/2018. It was not a long flight (only 8hrs 40 mins) though I had a pretty lengthy layover in Frankfurt. Had no issues with immigration in Lagos as none of my bags was overweight and it was smooth sailing all the way. At the immigration desk in Toronto, the officer asked how much I had and I told her ($4000) USD, she didn't ask for my proof of funds. She further asked if I had any food and I told her I had groundnuts, so I literally spent less than a minute with her. From then on, I was directed to the newcomers section where I submitted my COPR and my details were taken, important to note that I was able to change the passport photograph attached to my COPR after asking the officer, who kindly obliged me (this was the copy I had submitted at the PPR stage, I didn't like it anymore). Upon completion of all documentation, I was allowed to retain the second copy of my COPR. Just beside the Newcomers section was the 'Welcome to Canada' desk, here again, my details were taken, I was given a Newcomers booklet and other information on settlement services, etc after which the officer welcomed me to Canada. I was also given information on the documents required to process my heath card. Surprisingly and luckily enough, the Service Canada desk was still open at this time and I was able to get my SIN right there at the airport. Onto customs, as I had already declared that I had ground nuts on me, there were no delays at customs, I filled the goods to follow form and discovered that I could bring most of the items on it without having to ship them down and without any tax implications. I finally concluded my landing formalities at about 6:30pm and was able to locate the taxi company which took me to my destination. All in all, it was a smooth departure and arrival process. and to those on their way, may the land favor us all. NB. I am still adjusting to the weather conditions, nothing really prepares you for the cold, it is extremely cold, but layering up and having the right gear (good winter jackets, slip proof winter boots, thermal wears, sweaters, scarves, gloves, socks, etc, will help keep you warm) I got a SIM from Koodoo Mobile, (they have nationwide coverage and their monthly payments are reasonable) I also opened an account with First Ontario Credit Union Bank which also have reasonable services and charges for newcomers. |
Yes, I am also interested in getting links/referrals on shared and affordable accommodation in Mississauga Thank you Expectantbee: |
Thank you for this better to live in a slightly 'expensive' but warm apartment, than a cheap but unbearably cold basement. I hear some basements get really cold during winter. Akingsqueen: |
abbyode:Hi abbyode, I am landing in December will be grateful if you can share pointers on basement in Mississauga |
I agree with the fact that every case is different. In submitting my application, I used my RSA for up to 50% of my POF and had absolutely no issues with this as I got my PPR on June 8th. It is however important that the LOE is very detailed in explaining the source of funds, additional documentation in support from PFA, currency exchange rate to CAD etc. Randomsue: |
Still waiting to hear your views regarding my post, your responses will be highly appreciated! Thank you. Lagertha: |
Still waiting for responses to my inquiries. Seniors in the house @blackbuddy @maternal , etc will appreciate your input. Thanks all Lagertha: |
Akingsqueen:Hello everyone, Thanks for the post @Hifyty this was really helpful. I got my PPR on June 8 and I am currently waiting to receive my passport which was sent shortly after. Ahead of my short landing in November, I have been doing some research on linkedin, indeed.ca and other websites about vacancies in my line of work and the best areas in Canada to where I can get a good job in this line. I'm actually open to settling anywhere as long as I get the right offer. I work in telecommunications, specifically, regulatory affairs/compliance. I will really appreciate input from people who work in this line or anybody who knows someone in this line. Thanks. |
Bimsebony:Thank you |
Hello guys, Silent reader here. PPR received yesterday, June 8th. LVO! Timeline below ITA: 04/10/2017 AOR: 21/12/2017 Medicals Passed: 09/01/2018 NP 2: 11/01/2018 PPR: 08/06//2018 Should be noted that I sent an email to LVO on 27/05/2018 inquiring about the status of my application and they replied about 1 week later stating that my application was awaiting review and they would contact me through my account when ready. When I saw their response, I had mixed feelings... glad that I was able to confirm that it had been received, but resigned to the fact that I had to wait a while longer since it was awaiting review. It was therefore a pleasant surprise to receive the notification in my account on June 8th. Thank you all for sharing and this is to encourage everyone waiting for some progress in their application that it will still come through and all our expectations shall be met and surpassed! |
Aig84:Thank you, fingers crossed and praying for a speedy application process. |
IykeD:Thanks, AOR was on Dec 21, 2017 |
