Sweetheart, if what you re saying is really true, then I I blame no one but the consultants, because the medical school curriculum is not well structured, thereby churning out half-baked doctors.....

But as doctors, we also have to train ourselves, download audiovisuals, attend updates and CME courses, and we must always respect ourselves!!!

Most of my practical training was in a private hospital. I started private practice as a medical student, when I started house job, all was just like a breeze to me....

A doc once asked me to give a Patient Promethazine and chlorapheramine,I was lik wtf,both drugs does the samething...I called his attention to it and he first argued,but later he came back to say,you were right(perhaps he quickly checked through d internet), he canceled Chlorapheramine and av corrected this Doc prescriptions thousand times..atimes he would write use dermazine to cover a fresh wound,I wil jez smile I use the right solution,as if he bought his certificate from Market and many of his kind are many even on this forum..

Maybe that "doctor" was a community health officer, not a proper MBBS graduate, I can never commit those blunders anyway.....

A pharmacist is 100% soaked with pharmacology, I did pharmacology from 200l - 500l in Nigeria, that's freaking 4 years, unlike you that had just maybe 1 year. You can't know all unlike a pharmacist who make this drugs. You can't do all . It is like I wash the chicken, fry and package. How will the person that was never there know more. Get the facts right, each profession has their Job description, as a doctor you have enough on your table than thinking of prescribing drugs. It's like telling you I need to start performing surgeries because I did gross anatomy in 200 level

The pharmacology you did as broken down courses within a four year span was what we did as a crash course within fourteen months!!!!!

And hey, we finished the whole katzung from cover to cover, going into full details, not just lifting some points, asking baby questions and we all shout HALLELUJAH!!!

NO, we had it rough, no breaks, full-time pharmacology, no courses, and those goddamn MCQS and matching questions and causal relationships, what of the terrible essay questions!!!

And guess what, when we write that dreaded part I final MBBS, we have to read from the beginning!!! You guyz write an exam on a course and go, not medical students, after writing all sorts of exams, we start all over in our finals. Don't forget we also have pathology to battle with.....

An anatomist can never be a surgeon, a restaurant cook çan never be a food technologist, a farmer can never be an agriculturist and a doctor can never be a pharmacist!!!

We have every right to prescribe drugs, its part of our training, you guyz make the drugs and make sure its up to standard, that's why you're needed more in the FDA....

At least you are better than the goons we have here, please don't defend their stupidity oooo, just leave them...

We do not say that overall MBBS is superior to pharmacy, what we say is that in our own turf we are superior based on services rendered especially in third world hospitals like those in nigeria!
Based on the qualifications you claim to have I bet you are not stuck in a Nigerian hospital screaming with johesu folks!
Pharmacists are so much more than hospital drug dispensers they have been reduced to in nigeria!
Secondly I won't go to Gsk for example and claim I'm supposed to be head of a team doing drug development cos I'm a doctor!
That's the pertinent point we doctors are trying to make!

In saner countries, a doctor is always the head of a health team, for the simple reason that a patient comes to see no one else....

A pharmacist makes the drugs, makes sure all drugs are up to standard, correct dosages, quality control and assurance, essential drugs formulatory, and the hallmark: RESEARCH!!!

A doctor is well trained in pharmacology; we may not know how drugs are manufactured, but we know basic knowledge of drugs, their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, half-life, solubility, plasma protein binding, routes of administration, appropriate dosages in adults and children, side effects and adverse effects, contraindications and even ongoing research....

It is an insult to say à doctor cannot prescribe drugs...

I don't like tackling pharmacists, they are the ones belittling themselves!!! Forming an association with cleaners...

Maybe you can ask yourselves why you made that silly mistake

Nah, that's the job description of a pharmacy technician. Instead they have to crosscheck your F'ed up prescription cos you get it wrong from diagnosis which is ur main job. Wrong dosage, inappropriate therapy, interactions and stuffs is what we see everyday. Face your job, no! All you know is fight other health professionals!

I really wish I had the time to exchange words with you. But you see, the fact that we can work in a myriad of practice settings apart from the hospital is our pride as pharmacists.

That's the only reason pharmacists are not suffering from this strike unlike the last NMA strike. And I know this fact must have cause some pain somewhere in you by stimulating some nociceptors!


So while your hospital output is poor due to the strike, I'm making good money elsewhere. I'm so sorry, but that's what God gave us!

I have a senior registrar that worked for the German embassy, he said he earned an equivalent of 23,500 dollars a month, just to consult at their clinics....

Mind you, he was employed because he is a specialist....

What of other doctors that work in oil companies, multinational conglomerates, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA....

Come to where I work, see the emergency wards, labs and other wards working optimally...

Do we even need pharmacists, there are two giant pharmacies which are eager to sell their drugs at even cheaper prices!!!
