MANCHESTER CITY’S IHEANACHO RULED OUT OF AFRICAN U23 CHAMPIONSHIP By Shemmy Sholabomi The Citizens’ rookie will play no part in the country’s quest to book a place in Rio Olympics according to coach Samson Siasia Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho has been ruled out of the 2015 African U23 Championship in Senegal, coach Samson Siasia has revealed. The forward who part of the Super Eagles that silenced Swaziland in the 2018 Fifa World Cup second round qualifier will not join the Dream Team VI as they hope to secure a place in Rio 2016. “The initial plans I had with the player and his representative was that he would join us at least five days to the competition and also help the team till the semi-finals stage which he agreed but later he told somebody very close to me that his club Manchester City is not convinced to release him again since he was dumped on the bench at the last Fifa U20 World Cup under Coach Manu Garba. So as it is right now I don’t think Kelechi Iheanacho will join us again,” Siasia told Goal. “The good news is that Junior Ajayi who is based in Tunisia has since Sunday joined us and we are expecting the team captain Azubuike (Okechukwu) and Taiwo Awoniyi to arrive on Tuesday so that we can have a full house to concentrate on for the tournament.” The former Super Eagles’ handler confessed that his team still find it hard to score goals but vowed to do his best to ensure that the players convert at least two or three of five chances created in matches. “This team has been creating a lot of chances in competitive matches and test matches but the problem is that they used to waste these begging chances which are not good for a team aspiring to win tournaments,” he continued. “We are expecting the invited foreign based strikers like Awoniyi and Junior Ajayi who have been with the team for some time before they turned professionals to use their newly garnered experience to help the team score goals in the competition. “We are targeting winning the competition or better still pick one of the qualification tickets for the 2016 Olympic Games.” He confessed that he has been very disturbed and affected by the kidnap of his mother but had to concentrate on tinkering the U23 national team to get the 2016 Olympics against all odds. “I will confess to you the kidnap of my mother really affects me but this is a national assignment which I need to make sure we get the qualification ticket for next year’s Olympics in Brazil. “I want everybody most especially the federal government led by president Muhammadu Buhari, Bayelsa State Government and the Inspector General of Police to help me secure the release of my mother,” he concluded. Nigeria missed out of the London 2012 Games men’s football event and would hope to qualify for Rio 2016 having been zoned in Group B alongside Egypt, mali and algeria. http://m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/11252/nigeria-u23/2015/11/23/17627792/manchester-citys-iheanacho-ruled-out-of-african-u23 |

Anikishaya:We also have to pay tithe from a gift? |
It is known that 10% of our income should be directed to the house of the Lord as Christians... Some pay according to how they earn... While some pay at the end of the month as salary earners... Given the Salary earner that i am and knowing how much i earn every month... Is there anything in me having the money and paying my tithe in advance of maybe six months or even a year... Is it biblically right? |

I’LL GET RID OF CORRUPTION IN SPORTS, SAYS MINISTER OF SPORTS DALONG Having being a victim of the exploitation in the past, the minister has revealed his drive to tackle corruption in the sports sector towards ensuring its growth and success Nigeria’s minister of sport Solomon Dalong has said he would do all it takes to curb corruption in the sports ministry. The 51-year-old retired attorney who was sworn-in as the Minister of Sports and Youth Development disclosed that he was swindled by the Nigeria Football Federation in 2002 and has promised to fight corruption in sports to a standstill, while warning sports administrators to desist from the ‘ungodly’ act. On the financial fraud suffered, he said his team were shortchanged by the NFF after travelling along the federal government delegation to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations getting $400 instead of the promised $7000. “I am a victim of all those frauds they do in the sports industry," Dalong told media. "I went to Mali in the 2002 Africa Nations Cup on a federal government delegation. I want told in Abuja here that I was entitled to $7,000 (an estacode) but I was given $400. “I was given $400 and I have to metamorphose from a refugee in Mali to organising international launch from my friends to safe me to be able to survive and return to this country. "Meanwhile there were children of people in government playing with dollars. Why we lost that match in Mali was because of the tradition of a player making some concession of $2,000 from his allowance of $5,000 to the team before he will be featured.” "Those who did not comply were denied appearance for that match. I don’t know if Jesus or Mohammed has touched them to change. Corruption has indeed destroyed everything we do in this country and that is why we think that the best way to approach it is to come out and wage war against it,” he continued. "This corruption was not only limited to sports alone but every social system. Once we are able to minimise corruption in the industry, we will go far. The best way to do it is to provide transparent leadership. The body language of the leader should be very clear. "The major predicament is when a minister declares that he wants to fight corruption but yet brown envelops are smuggled into his resident at the midnight, there is no way he can wage war against corruption. “It is not possible because those bringing brown envelops have vested interest in the system. It is either that they have strangulated the system and want to be protected or they are planning to beat the system. Every whistle blower must be very careful because you cannot say that you don’t like the system yet you are practicing corruption. “That was what was on ground but I think, we will try to make the difference. We will insist that anything meant for a particular purpose should be utilised for that purpose. "Anybody who has done us proud should be rewarded. Anybody who deserves entitlement should be given the entitlement. Let me say that corruption will be tackled headlong," he concluded. http://m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4093/nigeria/2015/11/20/17491772/ill-get-rid-of-corruption-in-sports-says-minister-of-sports |
