2. The Armstrong Street
House In 1970, Ann and Roger Brock moved their family into a four-bedroom home at 2220 N. Armstrong Street in Kokomo, Indiana. The house only cost $5,000—a real steal for a young couple with three daughters. However, once ensconced within the house’s walls, the Brock family began experiencing some truly disturbing events. For years, daughters Lana and Lisa claimed that they felt uncomfortable in the dark house. But it wasn’t until 1978, when younger brothers Roger Jr. and James were born, that the family began seeing what they believed was a nonhuman entity. One night, after experiencing inexplicable shaking in and around her bed, Lana saw a wet man standing outside her window. Upon closer inspection, she came to believe that it wasn’t a man at all but a “creature.” Making matters worse for the family, a local rumor posited that a woman had been murdered in the house . As recounted in an episode of Paranormal Witness , the Brocks were subjected to numerous assaults by what they believed was a demon because Roger Brock was a Baptist minister. At one point, after answering a knock on her bedroom door, Lana had her mouth covered by an invisible hand. As much as she tried to scream, the hand prevented her. Luckily, the family dog distracted the demon, thereby allowing Lana to scream. As revenge, the demon killed the dog by throwing it through a window. Today, Lana runs a blog dedicated to investigating the paranormal. As for the house, Lana claims a serial arsonist burned it down.

3. The Cage. Currently, one of Great Britain’s most haunted houses is up for sale. Located in the Essex town of St. Osyth, “the Cage” was once a witches’ prison in the 16th century. According to former owner Vanessa Mitchell, the village’s witches left something truly frightening behind. After moving there in 2004, Mitchell claims that several ghosts began attacking her. One cheeky ghost smacked her rear while another shoved her down while she was pregnant. In other instances, strange, blood-like stains appeared on the floor. In an ITV interview, Mitchell stated that she saw three ghosts—two men and one woman— during her three years of living in the Cage. More shocking is Mitchell’s claim that the house is also haunted by a goat demon. Mitchell believes that she captured this entity in a photograph . After leaving the house, Mitchell penned A Modern Day Haunting to recount her experiences. She asserts that one of the Cage’s ghosts is Ursula Kemp, a former inmate of the Cage who was accused, tried, and executed for witchcraft.

4. Halloween Demons. Tracey and Keiron Fry of New Tredegar, South Wales, became overnight celebrities in the British tabloids because they claimed that demons were living in their home. More specifically, the couple claimed that beginning one Halloween night, three demons began assaulting and molesting them. One claim states that an evil entity told the Fry children that it was going to slit the throats of Tracey and Keiron. As with a lot of stories about demonic hauntings, Tracey and Keiron believe that a Ouija board, which they had previously used to contact spirits, was the vehicle that the demons used to infest their house. Once inside, the demons became ruthlessly violent and left bruises and scratches on family members. Keiron believes that he managed to capture a picture of one of the entities. In the photo, the entity appears to be a small child dressed in white. Given that the Fry family story first appeared in sensationalist press outlets like the Daily Mail and The Sun , the family’s claims should be taken with a grain of salt. However, the Fry family did manage to convince a team of paranormal investigators and a Church of Wales vicar named Johnathan Widdess to cleanse their house of all evil spirits.

5. A Horde Of Demons. The house of Latoya Ammons and her three children is supposedly so haunted that local police had to get involved. According to Ammons, her family’s small home on Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana, started “acting bad” shortly after they moved there in November 2011. The first troubling manifestation occurred when large, black flies started swarming around the family’s screened-in porch. These attacks occurred throughout the year, even in December. At night, the family would hear footsteps all around the house, including one night when Ammons saw a shado w figure walking across her living room. According to paranormal investigators, demons like to manifest as solidly black shadow figures. Less supernaturally inclined researchers argue that seeing shadow people is connected to sleep paralysis. Whatever the case, Ammons claims that she once witnessed her unconscious 12-year-old daughter levitating above her bed at 2:00 AM. Realizing that they needed help, Ammons and her family contacted clairvoyants. These clairvoyants made the shocking claim that the Ammons family’s home was haunted by 200 demons. Ammons and her children underwent exorcisms to rid themselves of the unnatural menace, but they ultimately had to flee the house. Today, the house is well-known for a picture that supposedly shows a demon standing by a window. Many have countered this claim by debunking the photo .

6. The Bean Family. The Beans were a typical, all-American family. During the 1970s, they lived in Glen Burnie, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore. Specifically, the family lived in a ranch-style home in a community called Harundale. According to Bill Bean, author of Dark Force, the family’s home always appeared ominous and contained a negative energy . As Bean recounts, the family’s home was possessed by a demon. This entity liked to wrap its cold hands around family members and simulate murdering them. In one instance, the demon transformed itself into a human in a black suit. It gave itself away because of its all-black eyes, however. Eventually, the Bean family was forced to flee their home in the 1980s. As with most demonic hauntings, Bill Bean doesn’t have an answer for why his family’s house was haunted, although Dark Force does mention the possibility of extraterrestrial contact. However, he does claim to have proof in the form of strange pictures that were taken while the family still lived in Harundale. The home’s subsequent owners claimed that their abode was anything but abnormal.

7. The Smurl Haunting. Between 1974 and 1989, the Smurl family of West Pittston, Pennsylvania, was subjected to endless amounts of paranormal phenomena. Jack and Janet Smurl and their four children claimed that their TV once burst into flames, their toilets flushed by themselves, and various electronics in the house would stop working for no apparent reason. At night, the family would hear footsteps and smell terrible odors, with neither having an identifiable source. More disturbing, claw marks—or what appeared to be claw marks—began appearing in the family’s bathroom. Before long, full-bodied apparitions appeared above beds, and in 1985, a ghoul that the family named “Old Hag” was seen walking through walls. On other occasions, “Old Hag” or some other demon sexually assaulted both Jack and Janet. In that year, some 50 exorcisms were performed on the house, but the assaults didn’t stop until the Smurl family moved in 1989. Like a certain haunting in Amityville, New York, skeptics raise an eyebrow at the fact that the demonic activity seemed to cease once the Smurl family moved. The involvement of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the case was cause for further skepticism. In 1991, the Smurl case became a made-for-TV movie entitled The Haunted.

8. Attack. In 2014, Fox43, a local Fox affiliate in central Pennsylvania, traveled to the home of DeAnna Simpson in Hanover. The reporters were there because Simpson claimed that her home had been haunted for years by the presence of a nonhuman entity. Nick Petrillo, a cameraman for the Fox43 team, apparently felt a burning sensation in his hand while he was filming at the Simpson house. When Petrillo told Simpson about his inexplicable pain, she responded by pouring holy water on the afflicted area. The subject of an episode of the Travel Channel’s TV show The Dead Files, Simpson claims that a demon has taken possession of her home. In addition to five other ghosts, the demon likes to mentally and physically torture DeAnna and her husband, Tom. For the most part, the demon only appears as a large black shadow. Simpson may or may not have captured this shadow on film . As for why her house is haunted, Simpson points to an unspecific series of gruesome deaths that occurred on the property.

9. Strange Symbols. Featured on an episode of Paranormal Witness , the house at 20317 Fairway Drive in Springfield, Louisiana, is supposedly haunted by a diabolical entity. In the episode, new homeowners Jeanine and A.J. move into a quaint, cheap home in rural Louisiana. Before long, Jeanine is subjected to physical assaults committed by an unseen presence. The attacks escalate to the point that the couple is forced to flee the home. Right before leaving, A.J. and his father-in-law pull back a rug and discover that one room in the house is covered in satanic symbols . Much of the episode makes a big deal of the fact that the haunting takes place in Louisiana. Not only is New Orleans one of the primary hubs of voodoo, but rural Louisiana also has its fair share of satanic goings-on. Overall, A.J. and Jeanine believe that their home was once used by a satanic cult, which brought a demon into the world during one of their rituals.

10. The Demon House. According to his own book, Bob Cranmer, a former Allegheny County Commissioner in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, claims that he and his family lived in a house haunted by a demon for 18 years. An exorcism drove the demon out in 2006. Mr. Cranmer claims that he watched helplessly over the years as blood dripped from the walls of his home and invisible hands pushed andexistencey struck his loved ones. When these attacks reached their boiling point in 2005–2006, Cranmer finally contacted the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, which sent a priest to perform an exorcism on the house. As the story goes, Cranmer’s home in the Pittsburgh suburb of Brentwood was built upon rotten soil. In the 1700s, Native Americans viciously murdered European settlers in the area. Later, during the house’s construction, one of the workers cursed the land. However, true evil did not come into until Dr. James C. Mahan Sr. arrived. Cranmer believes that Dr. Mahan, a former tenant in the home, was an alcoholic abortionist who performed hundreds of illegal operations. These activities supposedly brought forth a demon into the world—a demon that mostly manifested as a “black, foggy cloud.” Unlike most demonic hauntings, Cranmer actually knows the name of the demon. Cranmer believes that Moloch, the Canaanite god mentioned in the Old Testament, possessed his house because Mahan and the Malick family, the home’s previous owners, were Moloch worshipers. Given that Moloch supposedly received child sacrifices, the fact that Dr. Mahan was an abortionist seems all the more frightening. Most paranormal investigators will tell you that
there are several different types of hauntings.
Residual hauntings tend to be benign because
the ghosts in question reenact their memories
from life without interacting with the world
around them. Intelligent hauntings and
poltergeist activity are scarier because the
entities recognize and interact with the
humans around them. Few of these
interactions are positive. But when it comes to hauntings, the most threatening and negative are demonic hauntings. In these cases, houses and people are tormented by nonhuman entities that seek to possess the living. Demonic hauntings tend to be mentally and spiritually draining. They also tend to last a long time because demons, which were never humans, can only be expelled through certain religious rituals. Of course, if you’re skeptical about all of this, demonic hauntings can sometimes come across as examples of mental illness. Furthermore, for demonic hauntings to even exist, one must believe in the reality of demons. Still, the following 10 cases are disturbing examples of people who believe that they were tormented by purely evil entities. |

1. The 3,200-Kilometer(2,000 Mi) Journey. Every year, monarch butterflies soar toward the Rio Grande and travel a staggering distance to central Mexico. Even though the population has fallen due to the disappearance of the milkweed plant, their sole source of food, their journey continues generation after generation. How do they manage to travel that far without getting lost? Scientists have found a compass in their brains. It tells them two pieces of information: the time of day and the Sun’s position. The butterflies combine that information to find the right direction to go. Their complex eyes monitor the Sun, and then that information is combined with details picked up from their antennae to send signals to the brain. The butterflies use an internal clock built from the rhythmic expression of key genes. According to scientific models, the clock has a separation point to control the monarchs’ direction—whether they fly right or left to head south. “In experiments with monarchs at different times of the day, you do see occasions where their turns in course corrections are unusually long, slow, or meandering,” explained Dr. Eli Schlizerman of the University of Michigan. “These could be cases where they can’t do a shorter turn because it would require crossing the separation point. And when that happens, their compass points north-east instead of south-west. It’s a simple, robust system to explain how these butterflies—generation after generation—make this remarkable migration.”

2. Dodo Brains. The paintings of these long-dead birds have probably drawn an inaccurate picture in your mind. According to many, dodos are overweight and stubby, and they do not possess the brightest brains in the flock. What we know about them, however, could be wrong. A CT scan of a rare dodo skull suggests that they actually had the body type and size of our typical modern pigeon. Dodos probably also had the intelligence of a pigeon , which makes dodos a lot smarter than we once thought. Pigeons are capable of memorizing human faces and have mathematical abilities that are comparable to rhesus monkeys. The plump dodo that you see in paintings is probably the result of being confined to a cage and eating human food. Wild dodos are a lot thinner. According to the CT scan, the olfactory bulb of the brain suggests that dodos had a keener sense of smell than pigeons. It seems that these extinct birds deserve a lot more credit.

3. Path To Immortality. There are many animals that have lived well over a century. This includes Ming, a clam that died at age 507 and saw the fall of the Ming dynasty, as well as Charles Darwin’s pet tortoise, Harriet, that lived to age 176. Some tortoises have been known to live even longer. So what is the secret to their healthy, seemingly endless lives? The answer may lie in the enzyme telomerase, which keeps chromosomes from wearing out. But this leads to more questions than answers because we don’t even know how to keep ourselves alive for more than one century. It is uncertain how increasing telomerase activity can relate to aging and disease. Although there are correlations between the size of telomeres and longevity in shellfish, many types of cancer cells grow because they increase the length of their telomeres. Unfortunately, the long lives of these animals can be drastically cut short. Shark liver oil is a real product that is sold because sharks are believed to be immune to cancer(they’re not). However, there are no studies showing that it prevents cancer in humans. Additionally, tortoises can live for more than 200 years while staying cancer free. Still, it’s not possible to absorb their powers by consuming them.

4. Desert Fairies.
Fairy circles—round circles of bare sand
surrounded by grass—are born in deserts and
vanish in an eternal life cycle. The Himba
bushmen living nearby believe them to be the
footprints of gods, or perhaps they are
indicators of a dragon’s underground burrow,
the grass poisoned by its smoky breath.
Maybe these impossibly perfect circles are the
work of aliens or burrowing bugs. But the
answer could be much simpler. The cause is
neither dragons nor gods but quite possibly the
plants themselves.
With little water in a desert, it is impossible for
grass to grow and carpet the entire area.
Instead, the plants organize into clumps.
These clumps can soak up water from the
ground even months after the last rain. This
also explains how vegetation can flourish
around the circles even when the land
surrounding them is dry and arid.
Rainwater is greedily pulled from all directions
by the desert’s thirsty plants. Certain spots
become drier than others, and these areas
become bare and impermeable. When it rains
again, the water skims over the areas of dried
clay toward the places where plants are
growing.
The plants survive and increase the size of
their roots, pulling more of the rain away from
their weaker neighbors. The smaller plants
wither and die, resulting in a bare spot that
becomes bigger over time.
As individual plants compete randomly for
water, a pattern is repeated all across a vast
landscape. This process is known as the self-
organizing theory because the plants formed
the circles on their own without outside help.

5. Deep-Sea Monster. The Tully monster is odd, to say the least. Fossils show that it had teeth at the end of a rodlike appendage on top of its head, eyes on either side of a rigid bar, and a stiffened notochord to support its body. Scientists have finally been able to identify the strange specimen after more than 50 years. Found in masses of hard rock, the 300-million- year-old fossils are only 0.3 meters (1.0 ft) long. With more advanced equipment, researchers were able to see the creature’s physical features by mapping out its chemistry. Although much of its lifestyle remains a mystery, we can conclude that it was a predator due to its many teeth. Still, we don’t have a clue when the Tully monster first appeared on the face of the Earth or when it became extinct. |
6. Shark Navigation. The ocean is vast and mysterious, spanning much of the world’s surface. So how do sharks manage to find their way through the unyielding seas? Scientists once believed that it might be through their sense of smell or magnetic fields, but no one knew for sure. To find the answer, researchers gathered some wild leopard sharks and led them about 10 kilometers (6 mi) away from their homes. Some of the sharks had their nostrils stuffed with cotton balls , and some did not. Then all the sharks were let loose to see how well they managed to find their way back. After heading the wrong way for 30 minutes, the unclogged sharks were eventually able to swim back to their shores. It was likely that they had sniffed out the increasingly higher doses of chemical molecules found near land. The sharks with the clogged nostrils, however, moved slowly and aimlessly. But how are we sure? How do we know that the slower sharks weren’t just distracted by the cotton balls shoved up their snouts? More studies found it unlikely that the sharks were following a scent that grew stronger near land. Instead, they may have used water temperature or light levels to guide them. While the mystery isn’t fully solved, this could be one step in finding the answer.

7. Dolphins Decoded. Who knows what these marine mammals are trying to say with their sly smiles and high- pitched clicks? Actually, for the first time, their whistles have been decoded by a computer. Dolphins are complex, social creatures that express their feelings through movements and sounds. Dr. Denise Herzing built a translator—called the Cetacean Hearing and Telemetry device— that was able to decode a whistle into a human word that we know. So what was this specific dolphin trying to say? The machine translated the whistle as Sargassum, a type of seaweed, although it is uncertain whether the dolphin actually saw the seaweed or was merely communicating with another family member. Herzing hopes that the machine will continue to help the team understand more of the dolphins’ exclusive language.

8 Zebra Riddles. You can often witness these black-and-white animals galloping across the African savanna with their unique coats dazzling in the sun. But just what do they need those stripes for? For the longest time, scientists have hypothesized that they are used as camouflage or perhaps to confuse predators. At the University of Calgary and UC Davis, scientists have carried out experiments to measure the distances at which predators and the zebras themselves can distinguish the stripes at different times of the day. Their discoveries were different than what manyr scientists had expected. For example, zebra stripes cannot possibly be used as an effective form of camouflage. Even if lions can’t see them, they would be able to smell them instead. The experiment showed that beyond 50 meters (165 ft) in daylight or 30 meters (100 ft) at twilight, when predators are active, the stripes are hard for them to distinguish. On moonless nights, all animals have difficulty seeing the stripes beyond 9 meters (30 ft), proving that they’re pretty much useless in blending in with trees or tall grass. Additionally, in treeless areas, lions could detect the outlines of zebras just as easily as they could see other grazing prey such as buffalo or deer. So what are the stripes really used for? Instead of warding off jaguars or lions, the stripes are actually effective in protecting against a different opponent: bloodsucking flies . The pattern of narrow stripes makes them unattractive to the insects due to waves of light bouncing off the zebra’s coat. In a different study, flies were shown to be more attracted to horses of a dark color rather than white because of the type of light waves bouncing off them. It turns out that the zebra’s array of zigzagging stripes boasts a startling way of combating their bloodsucking foes.

9 Cattle Mutilation. In a widespread phenomenon stretching across America, cattle are turning up dead with their tongues and reproductive organs missing. Although more sensible people have blamed it on your everyday predators, there are some details in the corpses that don’t make sense. According to a veterinarian that had examined one of the bodies, there is just no way that a predator could be the culprit. The cuts were clean, almost surgical, with no blood or other bodily fluids surrounding the area. Furthermore, footprints around the corpses were completely missing, almost as if the cowt had dropped from the sky. These mutilations are not new, either. They have been happening since 1972. Could extraterrestrial beings or mysterious cults be the culprit? There may be a more logical answer. Scavengers such as foxes can make off with a bit of the carcass’s flesh, thus answering the question of missing organs . Flies and their larvae will then feast on the softer body parts, such as the reproductive organs and tongues, making the wounds appear precise and surgical. Furthermore, a body lying in the sun will eventually burst open, leading to more surgical- looking tears. The blood that gathers at the bottom will be consumed by maggots. To top it all off, an Arkansas sheriff named Herb Marshall proved this by filming a cow decomposing in the sun, with the end result similar to the mutilations.

Well-known mysteries have been debunked in the past, and many more have yet to be discovered. While it may take a long while for Bigfoot or Nessie to reveal their faces or for all the world’s fossils to finally be unearthed, these are just some of the questions about the natural world that researchers have managed to answer. 10. Chupacabras Chances are, you’ve probably already heard of these gruesome vampires. Every night, they prowl through the arid landscape to fasten their fangs into livestock and drain their bodies dry. According to most, they possess long claws, terrifying red eyes, and a row of spikes running down their spines . . . or do they? There is no actual footage of their existence, but there are a handful of photos with images of the alleged creatures. Dead ones, at least. With bulging gray eyes and dry, hairless bodies, it’s easy to see how someone could mistake them for monsters. The legend of the chupacabra began circulating in Puerto Rico and Mexico after reports that dead sheep were found drained dry with puncture wounds. Then came sightings of the goatsuckers, which were described as being like dogs, rodents, or reptiles. However, according to science, the real chupacabras could be nothing more than wild dogs afflicted with severe mange . Mange is a disease that causes extreme hair loss. As mites burrow underneath the skin, inflammation thickens the skin, cuts off the blood supply to the hair follicles, and leaves the animal hairless and leathery. And since mange leaves animals greatly weakened, it would be easier for them to attack livestock than to hunt down faster prey, such as rabbits. In short, the legendary goatsuckers are nothing more than a pack of mite-infested coyotes. Source : listverse.com/2016/05/19/10-animal-mysteries-that-may-finally-be-solved/

YBNL leader, Olamide has proven to be a man of his word especially with his relationship and deals with his signed artists. He’s repeatedly said he only signs a 2-year deal with all his artistes after which they are free to go. With the exit of Lil Kesh from the label on the expiration of his deal in April 2016, we now have feelers that talented singer, Adekunle Gold may be the next in line to leave the label. Lil Kesh left YBNL to float his YAGI records after dropping his debut album. Sources have now told us that Adekunle Gold is next in line. ‘After his album drops in June, Kunle may leave YBNL to focus on his own label too’. His new label we gather will be called “ Gold Records “. Somehow the trend stays the same. Olamide left ID Cabasa after dropping the YBNL album which became his record label name, Lil Kesh also left after dropping his YAGI album which became the name of his label as well. Adekunle’s debut album is also titled ‘Gold’ which may very well become the name of his own record label too. Source : http://www..ng/2016/05/18/breaking-news-adekunle-gold-ready-leave-olamides-ybnl/

Chris Brown has said that he is tired of the devil ruining his life. In a recent Instagram post, the award-winning singer blamed the devil for trying to ruin his life. He also talked about thoughts of suicide and claims he’s heard God speak to him for the very first time. Here’s exactly what he wrote: “When u tired of the fucking devil ruining your life and u hear God speak for the first time. No one knows what I deal with on a day to day. The average man wouldn’t hesitate to blow his fucking brains out but that’s the cowards way out… Most won’t understand the genius and beauty in change and learning and the people who have devilish intentions will win in the short term. My soul will always be pure of heart. What’s on the surface always looks like one big party but inside there is a little boy looking for help and guidance. People say “be a man”. Yeah, that’s right but it doesn’t take away any pain you really go through. I just wanna stay out the way and do music. Most importantly and great father. I don’t have any more patience for anything that will cause me to self destruct!!” This guy needs all our prayers and support. He was a young boy when all ‘these’ started and the devil deceived him. Chris, the good news is your soul was already bought by the blood of Christ even before you went into any evil pact. The bible says that “even the lawful captive shall be set free.” In Isaiah chapter 49, verses 24 & 25, the New Living Translation says: “Who can snatch the plunder of war from the hands of a warrior? Who can demand that a tyrant let his captives go?” To “But the LORD says, “The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.”” This means if your choices have put you in a bad place, when you SINCERELY ask God for help, He will come to your aid. Read Psalm 121…declaring it into your life as you wake up each morning. David found his way back on the right path once when he felt lost. And there was one night, I had an encounter with a strange and powerful demon. The Lord whispered the same psalm into my ears to use as a weapon. Yes, I won the battle. I’ll say a prayer for you everyday brother, and I’ll encourage others to do same. Hang in there. Dear Ladies... A date is not a dinner party or luncheon. It is basically for CONVERSATION not CHOPversation. Stop going out for date on a very hungry stomach. That guy is not your father and he is not under any obligation to feed you. How can a man invite you for a date and you start starving yourself, then appear there looking so famished? In some cases, the guy would buy you what he can afford and you go about bad-mouthing him as being stingy and broke. Why don't you eat in your house before going out with him, or better still take your own money along for your food? Pull off the entitlement mentality already. He is under no obligation to feed you, stop disrespecting yourself, you are not an infant. Copyright, Victor Ibeh 2016 |

The phrase, vanity upon vanity has become a cliché that people use constantly to talk about the vainness of life and how all we do eventually amounts to nothing at the end of our days on earth. These words are usually backed up with scriptural verses from the book of Ephesians that clearly states that vanity upon vanity is vanity (which I totally agree with), but I have a problem with the saying that my life on earth is vanity… I don’t understand why they will say our lives on earth surmounts to nothing but vanity. Thinking about this quote one day, I asked myself a couple of question… if this life is vanity, why do anything? Why not just sleep and wakeup; doing nothing and living for no cause? Why the need to be more and do more? These questions did reveal things to me. It brought me to the conclusion that some things are indeed vain, but our lives on earth aren’t. at least God can’t be that purposeless that he expects everything he created to just exist and die with no purpose. So what’s not vain about death? Yea, someone is definitely asking that! Looking for that verse to show me that life truly is said to be vain. But let’s take a minute to think about our lives and how things we sometimes don’t feel matters tend to later matter. How some things which we consider a waste of our precious time turns out to be useful after all, and how that blue dress you thought will never come in handy becomes useful for that dinner party that requires a blue dress. Now think about your life and every single day in it. If you observe closely you’ll see how one minute has helped moved or made easier your next minute and please tell me if that in itself is vanity. The last time I checked, vanity means something that is vain, futile or worthless; something with no value or profit, no fruit or reason for existence… nada! But I’ve come to realize that our lives aren’t vain because there is a need for existence. Humans aren’t meant to exist in isolation, we are meant to coexist. That’s the same reason God brought a companion for Adam. Since we’re coexisting, our lives certainly mean something to someone. Our attitudes, be it good or bad will eventually influence someone else which will surely add something to the person’s life; be itpositive or negative. Joyce Meyer is a good example to cite in cases like this. I’m sure during her period of trials and tribulations one would’ve thought her life useful, at least she would’ve thought so. Those misfortunes she went through are helping thousands of women today who seems to be battling with something she has gone through. Sometimes the things we pass through aren’t meant to favour us. These things might even happen to us simply because someone needs to learn something from it… how can that e vanity? Would you look at the life of Joyce Meyer and call it a vain life after she has successfully turned her mess to a message that sells? If your today gives another person hope for tomorrow, how can you call that vain? If the gentle nature of someone gives you hope that all humans aren’t trouble makers, how can you say that person lived a vain life after death is her life, made you believe? These are little things that should make us see that life is a cycle where a life gives purpose to another. But the harsh truth is that humans just like product will expire and these dates aren’t the same for everybody. At the end of it all, we will all die. We are suppose to die because that’s the nature of humans, as we are not immortal beings. So, if your presence on earth, despite how short, made any impact, how can you call that vain?If by reading this piece today, you saw someone tomorrow whom, since you’ve heard that life isn’t totally vain, you decide to help, and that little action skyrocketed you to a better future, do you think your stumbling on this article or the time you spent reading it would be called vain? I covered a funeral in Edo state recently. The deceased lived to a hundred years, and according to the children, it might be more. During the funeral, the reverend while speaking mentioned that life is vanity. During the tribute, the children and grandchildren of the late woman spoke extensively about their peaceful mother and how her life has impacted theirs. This was a woman with no education, but her children talked about her like a larger than life person who they strive to emulate in life.I stared at the reverend for so long thinking “How can you say our life is vanity if this woman left behind something this great?” It is important for us to know that how we live is very important because despite the fact that we are not taking anything physical with us after death, we’re definitely taking our records with us which will ultimately define pour judgment.I totally understand that some people usually use this phrase because they believe you can’t take anything to your grave or the afterworld (if there’s anything like that) when you’re dead. Well, no one is suppose to, and no one has ever. But while you’re at it, while thinking about your leaving all behind, remember to think of the hurt you’ll leave behind when you act on things you’re not supposed to. This shouldn’t stop you from understanding that your presence on earth is a part of a big picture, and though your quota might seem small amongst the billions of people in this world, you should know that no one will do that quota if not you. So take your time in deciding how you will be adding value to this life because so far as I know, your life isn’t vain… I won’t be writing this if I know you’re not hereto read it.So trust me I’m not alien to that phrase, I’ve used it a couple of times, but I need us to use that with worthless things and not humans. I know vanity upon vanity is vanity, but the question now is “Is your life vain? That seems like the only way it can end up in the Vanity Fair.I’ll love to read our constructive opinions on the issue… how purposeful or vain can our lives be? By Linda orajekwe.
