To be rescued by a baby elephant is something we all think happens in the movies only. Even more dramatic is when you never even needed to be rescued initially.Instead, you just end up being assured that a baby elephant loves you and wants you to be okay.
The Save Elephant Foundation in Chiang Mai, Thailand, captured moments of little Kham Lha racing to the rescue of Darrick Thomson, the co-founder of the foundation and one of her favorite people ever.
Thomson was calling out to her from the shore, of which she translated as distress calls (And he was actually safe). Kham Lha charged into the water, protecting him with her body and offering her trunk for him to hold on to.
It was learnt Thomson helped rescue Kham La and her mother Bai Teoy in 2015.
"Since he rescued Kham La, he spent time to heal her from the mental [anguish] and has shown love to her," the staff said. "It's not long after that, she [made a] strong bond with him, and accepted him to be part of her herd."
The foundation has rescued more than 70 elephants, most of them elderly or physically misfits. They allow the elephants to roam free and form bonds among themselves.
Their mission is a simple one: "We believe that if we treat animals with love, the animal will paid back to us with love too."

The management of Dangote Industries Limited on Sunday announced that it had completed the purchase of Twister BV, a company in the Netherlands, as part of its plan to meet Nigeria’s gas needs.

According to a statement by Dangote, Twister BV provides robust solutions in natural gas processing and separation to the upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors.

The President, Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, in a statement said, “This was an important acquisition for us. Twister’s cutting-edge gas processing technology is fundamental to delivering our strategy to u nlock about three billion cubic feet per day of gas in order to meet Nigeria’s gas needs.”

The Chief Executive Officer, Twister, John Young, said, “We are delighted by the confidence that the DIL and First E&P have shown in Twister to be their core provider of gas separation solutions.
“After very thorough due diligence, our technology has been recognised as a key enabler to reduce gas project costs, which is crucial in the current environment; we are excited to be part of the Dangote family of companies.”
According to the statement, based on sophisticated patented technology, Twister gas plants are typically cheaper to build and operate, compared to alternative technologies, and deliver better performance levels. The company has customers in Nigeria, Malaysia and South America.

It said, “The acquisition complements DIL’s portfolio of investments in the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the oil and gas sector. The company will assist in the design and construction of the gas plants, which will be strategic in processing gas from oil fields for transportation via Dangote’s planned sub-sea pipeline for ultimate consumption by various industries and power plants.”

The US Strategic Command systems spotted a failed North Korean ballistic missile launch Saturday evening near the northwestern city of Kusong, according to the Pentagon.
"We strongly condemn this and North Korea's other recent missile tests, which violate UN Security Council resolutions explicitly prohibiting North Korea's launches using ballistic missile technology," as stated by Pentagon spokesman Gary Ross.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) claims the missile launch from North Korea did not pose a threat to the United States.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that Washington and Seoul had shared intelligence about the failed missile launch. And the south Korea's military claimed they are prepared for if further provoked,
In September, three ballistic missiles were fired from a base in the west of North Korea traversed the country and dropped into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.
US President Barack Obama and South Korean President Park Geun-Hye both condemned that launch.
South Korea has been mediating with the United States to install the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD) to shield itself from its northern neighbor.
Seoul says THAAD is expected to be fully deployed by the end of 2017.

Here are some facts about GMOs you should know


What are GMOs?

A GMO i.e. genetically modified organism is the outcome of laboratory actions where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of a dissimilar plant or animal (also called gene splicing, gene modification or transgenic technology), gene modification or transgenic technology. These foreign genes may be sourced from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans. Because this comprises the transfer of genes, GMOs are also known as “transgenic” organisms.
This procedure may be called either Genetic Engineering (GE) or Genetic Modification (GM); it’s the same. This comparatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.

How safe are GMOs?
GMOs are not regarded to be safe most developed nations do have a significant check or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. The U.S. and Canadian governments for example, though, have approved GMOs based on studies carried out by the same corporations that create them and profit from their sale.

Are GMOs labelled?
Sixty-four countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, demand genetically modified foods be labelled. Although it is not compulsory to label GMOs in the U.S. and Canada.

Where can you find GMOs?
GMOs can be found in mostly packaged foods that have ingredients sourced from corn, soy, canola, and sugar beet. Most of these crops are grown i And the vast majority of those crops grown in North America are developed countries and are genetically modified.


What are the impacts of GMOs on the environment?
Of all the GMOs grown worldwide more than 80% are made to be herbicide tolerant. Consequently, the use of toxic herbicides like Roundup has risen 16 times since GMOs were introduced. GM crops are also the reason for the advent of herbicide-resistant “super weeds” and “super bugs,” which can only be killed with more toxic poisons like 2,4-D (a major ingredient in Agent Orange). GMOs are a direct extension of chemical agriculture and are developed and sold by the world’s biggest chemical companies. The long-term impacts of GMOs are unknown, and once released into the environment, these unusual organisms cannot be recalled.

It's about time,they've been killing people silently. I bought a kilogram each of garlic,cucumber,ginger and apples two months ago,we finished eating the apples,but a month after,those things didn't get rotten a bit which shows that they were genetically modified. Most of their products are GMO which is very unhealthy.

Exactly ma'am...can you imagine. They have some not so good effect on the long run. I'll advise you stick to trusted sources.

It's been in the news of recent of the soiled relationship between the management and workers of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Following the invitation and quizzing of the vice chancellor by the Economic and Financial crimes commission (EFCC), following his release , the workers of the institution embarked on a protest calling for the arrest of the vice chancellor over alleged financial crime and embezzlement.
The atmosphere in the school environment has been tense in the past week. Reports reaching us this morning has it that armed police officers were spotted at the entrance(North gate) and the exit(south gate). And also the gate at the south end of the campus has been removed and baricaded by police vehicles same is seen at the entrance, from the reports reaching us it looks a hill of sand was used to barricade the entrance.

It was meant to be a form of technological advancement which is in a way i.e bigger fruits, seeds etc.

But the cons far outweighs the pros.. it's like writing love letter to cancer, tumours etc. etc.

I'm telling you....disastrous. i was just discussing this with someone yesterday of the damage civilisation has done...i mean our forefathers lived a healthy life..you hardly hear all these strange diseases then. Today thanks to air pollution,processed food and what have we.
