Politics / We Never Supported Adedayo's Letter Against Gov Abiodun-algon Boss, Emilola-gaza by lalekanyinusa(m): 4:42pm On Jul 29
We never supported Adedayo's letter against Gov Abiodun-ALGON boss, Emilola-Gazal

The immediate past Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government and Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, on Monday insisted that the council Chairmen in the state knew nothing about the letter the former Chairman of Ijebu East, Wale Adedayo wrote last year August, alleging Gov Dapo Abiodun of diverting about N10.8bn meant for the 20 local governments in the state.

Emilola-Gazal disclosed this at a press briefing held at the Pess Centre of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, on Monday.

The ALGON boss said that the briefing was essential to set the record straight regarding the recent interview  Adedayo granted an online medium wherein he had among other things said that the council Chairmen who just finished their 3-years term last week Friday were in support of the letter.

It would be recalled that Adedayo had last year August written former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba accusing Gov Abiodun of diverting N10.8bn meant for the development of the local government.

The letter was however leaked to the press afterwhich Adedayo was impeached and he is currently standing trial before Abeokuta Magistrate Court for false allegation against Gov Abiodun and character defamation.

Addressing journalists on Monday, Emilola-Gazal flanked by the former Chairman of Ifo local government, Mrs Kikelomo Adelano said that, after Adedayo wrote the letter without the approval of anyone one of them and dropped it on the WhatsApp group for the local government chairmen, he was told to suspend further action on the letter and must also ensure that the letter was only received by Chief Osoba.

He said that surprisingly, by the following day the letter had become common material doing the rounds on social media.

He said "in the morning of Tuesday, 29th August, 2023, Wale called to inform me  that the Secretary to the State Government called and asked him why he wrote such a letter and sent it out to the media. He said he told him that it was ALGON that mandated him to do it.

'I also asked him why he did it, especially when the body had told him to cease further spread of the letter after sending it to Chief Osoba.

"He said it was a senior journalist colleague that spread it. He sought my support in case the State government enquires from me.

Few minutes after the call, I got a call from the Secretary to the State Government, SSG,  asking if we, ALGON, asked Wale to write the letter. I answered in the affirmative.

"I did this in the belief that, as the Chairman of  Chairmen, I should protect him from the likely consequences of his action"

Emilola-Gazal said that as a way to resolve the crisis, the local government chairmen met at Abeokuta South Local Government, Ake and decided to go beg the governor even though there were dissenting voices who believed that Adedayo should suffered alone.

He said "the meeting at Ake was to salvage the situation and not leave him alone in that period of trouble, it was not to ratify what he wrote. There was never a  meeting where he was asked to write anything. Wale acted alone".

The former council boss said "at the meeting with the State government team at Osoba Press Centre, Okemosan, it was agreed that we plead with the Governor, especially on Wale's behalf, hence our going to beg his Excellency to forgive and let go.

"The governor accepted the plea and promised that he would ensure that  the Local Governments are supported to ensure that we overcome the paucity of funds and deliver as expected by our constituents.

"Wale Adedayo fully partook in all the deliberations and also prostrated to ask the governor for forgiveness.

After the group plea, I personally took him back to the governor and he prostrated, once again. About 5 of us joined him in begging the governor.

"We had an understanding with the Secretary to the State Government that, henceforth, there woukdl be no more media coverage of the issues until it is resolved internally.  We were to reconvene in his office the following day, Wednesday, 29th August, 2023.

"Surprisingly,  we woke up to read Wale Adedayo's interview wherein he cast aspersions on all of us, denying that he was part of the meeting the previous day and didnt prostrate to beg the governor.

"At the meeting in the office of the SSG, 19 of us, including Wale, were present. When he was asked why he went ahead to grant another interview, contrary to our resolution the previous day, he had no cogent reason.

"He was asked to give an ssurance that there would be no more media interviews on the issue until the issues were  resolved. He told us that he could not give that assurance until after his meeting with a group of people.

"At that point, it became clear to us all that Wale was not acting alone but in concert with some external forces. All pleas by all of us to make him back down fell on deaf ears".

"Wale is definitely acting a script and trying to pull down other people. He does not need to do this. We beseech Him to desist from this line of action, do a soul search and come out clean.

"It is most inhuman to attempt to destroy those who stuck out their neck, trying to protect you when the chips were down. There is always a pay back day".

On the recent Supreme Court judgment, Emilola-Gazal said that except the Supreme Court judgment is tinkered with, as much as 16 local governments may find it difficult to pay salaries of their staff.

He said "with the Supreme Court judgment, it will be discovered that 16 local governments can't pay the salaries of their staff, what comes from the FG allocation is not sufficient to pay the first line charges such as the salaries of the primary school teachers, that of the royal fathers and then the staff of the local government.

"That is the truth and until there is augmentation from the state government, these local government won't be able to pay, this judgment will bring this fore. For instance and in most cases in Ijebu-Ode Local Government, when we put the monthly revenue coming from the federation side by side, we are always having a deficit of between N60m and N40m. Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North , Odeda are perpetually in debt, that is the truth.

"At the end of the day, the Supreme Court judgment may have to be fine tuned because many of these local governments won't be able to pay salaries and these we shall see in coming days''.

Some of the projects commissioned include renovated Oke Oyinbo Health Centre with male and female wards, rehabilitated NTA road, construction of Epe Garage ultra-modern markets with 89 shops, renovation of St. Patrick Catholic Primary School, Isowo Ijebu and Alloysius Catholic Primary School, Irawo.

Adetona Market, Oke Aje, Renovation of Abattoir at Odo Eran, the rehabilitation of Legislative Office at Ijebu-Ode Local Govt secretariat, the Solar Powered Street Lights among others.

Gazal said that the developmental projects were embarked upon in line with the Gov Dapo Abiodun-led administration who placed so much premium on efforts that are tailored towards making life very rewarding and enjoyable for the people at the grassroots.

The LG boss said that the projects commissioned spanned across education, healthcare, road among other initiatives aimed at making life more comforting for the people.

He appreciated the people of the local government for their cooperation and for standing by him throughout his three-years tenure, saying that the APC-led government will always prioritize the welfare of the people above any other consideration.

Speaking during the programme, Oba Adedoyin Salisu, Lamodi of Isiwo affirmed that the outgoing chairman contributed immensely to the development of the local government within the three years spent in office, appealing to him not to relent in his future political mission for the sake of Ijebuland.

The monarch said "I thank the Chairman, Alhaji Emilola Gazal for his unrelenting supports towards the development of our local government area, most especially the completed project at Isiwo Primary School where I had my elementary education.

"I use this opportunity to thank the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his efforts on Ijebu-Ode - Epe express road among other completed projects within Ijebuland, we appreciate him and we are appealing for more infrastructural projects even as we are also ready to support his administration like never before".

Chief Olu Okuboyejo, the Chairman of Ogun State Elders' Consultative Forum, also lauded Alhaji Emilola-Gazal for his various giant strides during his tenure as the Chairman of the council saying that he has no doubt done his best to improve on grassroots governance in the state.

Speaking with joy at Irawo community via Iloti under Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Mrs. Owokade Dorcas, former headmistress at St. Alloysius Catholic Primary School, Irawo appreciated the Chairman's efforts for the renovation of the school building, saying that no local government administration has ever touched the community until Gazal came on board.

At Isoku Primary School in Ijebu-Ode, the headmistress of the school Mrs. Peters Adesimbo appreciated the outgoing chairman for the renovation of three classrooms.

In the same vein, Mrs. Opeoluwa Yetunde, head Oke Oyinbo Ijebu-Ode health centre who also doubles as ward vocal person appreciated Gazal for his intervention in renovating the health centre which has theatre, labour room, consulting room, pharmaceutical centre, children wards and other amenities.

Undoubtedly, Alhaji Emilola-Gazal is indeed a grassroots politician of high repute, as his antecedents within Ijebu-Ode political circles are unmatched. Despite being a veteran in the journalism profession, however, Alhaji Gazal remains patently humble and self-unassuming, both to the young and the old.

"With inadequate resources, government alone cannot provide all our needs; we are Ijebu, a people with solid pedigree and positive antecedents."

Career / 152 Task Force Battalion: Allegations Against Lt. Col. MZ Dikko Wicked, Libelo by lalekanyinusa(m): 2:42pm On Mar 04
152 Task Force Battalion:
Allegations Against Lt. Col. MZ Dikko Wicked, Libelous

By Gabriel Samuel

As a solider serving in 152 task force battalion Banki, I can boldly say that all the allegations levied the commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel MZ Dikko is a total defamation. He has been our commanding officer for more than a year now, there's nothing of such he treat us equally as one family. Is quite unfortunate that some set of people ganged up to cook up this defamatory, libellous, wickedness article inother to tarnish the commanding officer reputation. All this I overheard some of the soldiers discussing this issues, stating that it was because the commanding officer stopped women from entering the camp during the week. The commanding officer said Christian should only be allowed to come and worship on Sundays while Muslims are only allowed to worship on Fridays for civilians. The lady's do pretend they were coming for midweek service, from there they'll be seeing their soldier and officer boyfriend, prior to the commanding officer making such announcement. This alone trigger the sponsor of this libellous article in other receive public sympathy.

We are here to fight war for God sake, the libellous article is sponsored by personnel who want to be living like they're in their respective homes while on operational ground forgetting that women are distraction forgetting what Proverbs 31:3 say.

Firstly, let me start from his administrative staffs, the chief clerk, adjutant are both Christian. The former adjutant under him is also a Christian, his personal assistant is Christian and of a Igbo decent, his driver is a Christian. Some of the kitchen staffs are also Christian, the commanding officer eat from the kitchen as well, if he dislike Christian he won't bother eating food prepare Christian. This alone has shown that all this allegations is from mischievous makers who are trying to sabotage his effort, I'm a Christian as well and my conscience will always judge if overlook things like this. All the soldiers are always happy seeing him in fact whenever he is coming we dey always shout war war war and in response he always welcome us with kind gestures. Because he's a great leader who lead operations whenever we're going for any operation.

The claim that Lt col Dikko has exhibited religious prejudice by expelling Catholics from their church and converting it into a conference venue. Is a lie from people who are willing to tarnish his good work, the place allegedly called church was formerly a classroom used by the Islamic school, we should also note that the present facility been used by152 task force battalion was formerly an Islamic school that was used by student it was never a barrack virtually all the shelter there is temporary because they were formerly classrooms, in most of the classrooms you can see blackboard used by the students before Nigerian Army took over the place. The Catholics were not expelled, they were only relocated and the commanding officer made a provision for the new place they're currently using. The commander try by renovating a new class room for us to use as a church. the question i want to asked those people is this thing happened in January, why until ending of February before they write lies. On 13th of February 2024, there was a bilateral meeting with people from far north region of Cameroon , the state government sent a team of engineers and some government officials to look for a suitable location for the meeting prior to the meeting day, the CO choose the officers mess but the engineers said it was too small, hence they look for another classroom that was used as store and the other part was used as Catholic church. I was there when I carry file to the adjutant in the officer mess that morning. I was the one that when the commanding officer said adjutant should call the pastor, the adjutant send me. all our pastors were called that day the people from Borno State government came.

The walls of the store and defunct Catholic church was demolished in other to acquire more spac this is what the engineers tell our commander that day. The engineers and some government officials not the CO that choose the location to be used, this are the explanation the unit Adjutant Lieutenant D Simon address all the Cristian soldiers, mopol, and even the civilian NGOs for the two churches. some officers and soldier that the CO denied of bringing women to the camp cooked up this

It is not new in the Nigerian Army that discipline is our bedrock, there are ways to channel ones grievances in the Army. If anyone feel cheated or feels his right is violated there are ways to go about it.

The commanding officer has never threaten anyone of dismissal, however, if anyone violate the Nigerian Army standards the person will be charged and made to go through orderly room procedures. this are what the commanding officer tell us when he raised the issue of some personal that rented apartment and keeps their girlfriend inside town. He sent for the intelligence officer to identify those that rented apartment inside the town. this was during his last Dubar in February with us. since that day those people feel the commanding officer has stop them from sleeping outside with their girlfriend and some of them are even married.

The commanding officer did not in any way skews the selection process for Nigerian Army courses to favour those of the Muslim faith and discards merit. In fact it was a Christian that head the selection board Major John, twenty five (25) Muslims and twenty four (24) christians were selected for promotion, courses six (6) Muslims and seven (7) christians were presently attending different courses.

I work in the orderly room, we have the records. We have Christian and Muslim that went for courses. Thank God I work in the office where I have access to this information, we need to verify information and stop beating around the bush. We have serious issues to tackle here, and we're talking about religion, ethnicity. When the Boko Haram attacked us sometime ago it was a Muslim brother that saved me, personally I don't like this kind of talk but I can't overlook, this particular one is defamatory and it may reduce work efficiency if this is not curb.

Lt. Col. Dikko despite the hard economy provide food for the troops, for instance he did not stop buying foreign rice despite the high cost. How many people are eating foreign rice today. Most of the time he supervise the kitchen and make sure everyone gets food, there was a time he delegates some officers alongside himself to oversee the kitchen activities, this very day the food remain that people were coming for more rounds, the commanding officer is honestly trying all I just see is people that want to sabotage his effort.

Because same quantity of food that was cooked that day he still maintain it so where's the shortage coming from? He cannot be trying to make the troops happy and few people will just want everything to go south.

On the issue of soldiers complaining of lack of operational vehicles. everybody here in this camp know that this man is trying for us. he bring mechanic from Maiduguri and keep him permanent and he is paying him. all our motor are old. how can this operation finish when we that are to fight Boko Haram are laying against our commander.
Politics / Yayi's Selfless Leadership Worthy Of Emulation - Osinowo by lalekanyinusa(m): 9:39pm On Feb 27
Yayi's Selfless Leadership Worthy Of Emulation - Osinowo

Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo, fondly called 'Otunba Imole' in political circles, is one politician that could be dubbed a golden fish that has no hiding place. His popularity is hinged on his love for the people and irrevocable commitment to serving humanity come rain, come sunshine.

The global development and economic expert contested under the umbrella of African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the party primaries for Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency. He, however, owing to some 'abracadabra' during the build-up to the 2019 elections left the opposition party to team up with other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the first and second term bids of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Hon Osinowo recently shared his thoughts with The Issues Magazine on political updates in the state and other relevant issues.

Excerpts:

* Can you please tell us what is making you to consider embracing politics ?

I grew up to appreciate the inherent qualities of leadership into which I was born, and I believe it's important for me to pay forward and contribute my own quota to the development of my community and by extension my state and my country, which is evident in the steps I have taken in my political journey so far, but even more importantly is the feedback from our people which is very encouraging, and I'm glad that we're putting smiles on people's face and also giving them hope. I'm also deeply encouraged by Senator Solomon Adeola's generosity and sterling leadership within the state. In a nutshell, rather than sit on the sideline and criticize the status quo, I've taken necessary steps in addressing some of the fundamental needs of my people, in areas of education, with scholarships and payment of fees for WASSCE, sponsorship of many sporting competition, youth leadership.

Some of our intervention projects also include construction of a modern lavatory in my alma mater - St Matthew's Primary School, Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, Installation of 1,000 pieces of Solar Street Lights in Ijebu Igbo, Oru/Awa/Ilaporu & Ago-Iwoye townships, rehabilitation of rural and urban roads in my Federal Constituency which is Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside. Others are scholarship award to Students, sponsorship of Ijebu Igbo APC Constituency meetings, giving welfare package/cash to the aged at their doorsteps in my hometown, Ijebu Igbo, as well as time to time assistance to the less privilege within the society.

So my coming into politics is to use the platform to reach a greater number of people. I know that with the exposure that I have gotten, I am well aware of the immediate needs of our people in terms of priority, and that was why I contested at various times during the political dispensation. I joined other party stalwarts to rally support for the victory of Gov Dapo Abiodun, and we thank God that the governor is back for the second time to continue with his good works.

* And what do you say of the Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel ?

Let me tell you about this humble and successful political icon, Otunba Daniel has succeeded in changing the lives of the people through meaningful projects and policies even when he was the Governor and now as a sitting Senator representing Ogun East. Indeed, as governor of Ogun State for eight years, Daniel ran an impactful administration and remained undaunted despite the obstacles that came his way. He toiled day and night to meet the expectations of his people. Further to his giant strides in Ogun State, Otunba Daniel, in February 2009, authorized the reduction of fees at the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to ₦7,000. This followed negotiations with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) after parents and students had protested increased fees then.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel established three free trade zones in each of the state’s senatorial districts. These include Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone Limited, Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area; Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ); Olokola Deep Seaport and Kajola Free Trade Zone in Ifo. On assumption of office, he left no one in doubt of his desire to leave the landscape of the state better than he met it. He felt the need to provide the needed infrastructure that would help in driving the economy of the state to be economically viable, socially secured and habitable. He created the Ministry of Special Duties, which was saddled with the responsibility of the construction and renovation of residential quarters for government officials.

To reposition the civil service, the Daniel administration constructed an ultra-modern workers’ secretariat. The commissioning was performed by the former President of Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory, in the company of the former President Obasanjo and a host of distinguished guests. The new secretariat, an architectural masterpiece of three wings of eighteen blocks, was constructed for the repositioning of the civil service in Ogun State. In the area of sports development, Ogun State became one of the best three in Nigeria during Otunba Daniel’s tenure. As a sport-loving leader, the success recorded was made possible by the deliberate sports development programme of his administration. Otunba Daniel demonstrated a commitment to revamping health care delivery, a development that tremendously improved the health indices of the state. To meet the Millennium Development Goals and ensure that the health of the people is well taken care of, the Daniel administration invested heavily in providing facilities for the sector.

In addition to this, Otunba Daniel's administration established the first ever university of education in Nigeria and Africa known as Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) which is located in Ijagun in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. The good people of Ogun East believe in the capacity, experience and political sagacity of Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) to represent us in the National Assembly as a Senator and turn things positively for the people of Ogun East. OGD is a blessing to our generation, and with him in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, many Federal institutions/opportunities will surely flow the ways of Ogun East and our situations will never remain the same.

* What relationship did you say exist between you and Senator Adeola representing Ogun West Senatorial District?

Well, I always admire Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan popularly called Yayi because of his altruistic posture as far as politics is concerned. Sen Adeola represents true leadership, and I'm glad he is back home to replicate the good work he did in Lagos. Actually, I was a pioneer member of the Yayi group prior to the 2019 primary elections within my federal constituency. The core supporters will testify to my contributions towards his aspiration prior to his departure back to Lagos. The slogan at our political ward meeting was 'Yayi ni Jenriyi joo' at the time, sadly those dreams didn't come to reality due to irreconciliable differences between the incumbent governor at the time and Senator Yayi. To cut the long story short, Senator Solomon Adeola is not a new person to me, I have always known him as a politician and a leader, who devoted his time to selfless service to his people, and by extension our great country. We both share a lot in common from a political standpoint, and I appreciate his effort. Senator Yayi has a track record, and you can go back to the archives right from his days in Lagos, as two term member of Lagos State House of Assembly, House of Representatives member, representing Lagos West twice in the Senate and now the Senator representing Ogun West, and it's not surprising that he was elected at every stage, which is unusual in developing countries, particularly Nigeria.

Though, Senator Adeola's inroads into Ogun State politics just as in the book of Blair Eric, fondly known as George Orwell of Animal Farm fame, the road is bumpy, full of red earth, like an untarred road to hell. This instance is captured from his book, 'Road to Catalonia'. Orwell paints the grim picture of undue paranoia, bellicosity, bile, hate, and all the stuff against a man with good intentions, against a politically savvy and purposeful politician. Such was the tale of Senator Adeola, aka Yayi, as per his intention to come back to his root in Ogun State to see what difference he could make with his leadership gift.

As can be recalled, Yayi is the first politician in Nigeria to have had the unbroken record of being elected consecutively from the House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and ultimately to the Senate, especially in a state like Lagos with many political Gurus, intellectuals and competing interest. Clearly, you must have done so well to have such a record. It's like going from the eaglets to flying Eagles and then Super Eagles, which is uncommon. Sometimes in 2017, during the build to 2019 general elections, Ogun elders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) met and felt that people in the Yewa axis of the state had never emerged as Governor. They concluded that it was time to let the Ogun West indigines have a sense of belonging, afterall we're all brothers and sisters. However, during the process, the elders reasoned that the best aspirant should be put forward to contest the race. Senator Yayi, who was already preparing for his second term campaign in Lagos, was advised to come home and contest for the governorship of Ogun State. Though surprised, after great contemplation and due consultations, Yayi yielded to the call and began the gubernatorial campaign in his home state. While he received wide acceptance across the state, the then incumbent governor, Sen. Amosun, was strongly opposed to Yayi, probably because he had his preferred candidate. Following the hostility by the incumbent at the time, Senator Yayi felt politics should not be a do or die affair and human life is more important than any political aspiration, which has always been his core values, and guiding principle since his days as a member of the state congress and later at the federal level. Yayi, a peace-loving man, pleaded to be excused, and he returned to Lagos, where again was re-elected to represent Lagos West in the Senate. Having built up strong political structures, however, he handed over the structures to Prince Dapo Abiodun, who later won the governorship race. However, due to public pressure in 2023 elections, Adeola returned to Ogun State where he won the senatorial seat of Ogun West, in what has been classified as "West to West" the rest is history.

The truth however remains that the coming of Senator Adeola to Ogun West signifies a new beginning for the people of Yewa/Awori area with the unprecedented leadership the Senator has provided, a shift in paradigm but also a change in narrative for the Yewa people. Just recently towards the end of January, Senator Adeola took the people by whirlwind when he gave bursary awards of N100,000 to 1000 students of higher institutions from the five local governments in the senatorial district while another set of 600 students got between N200,000 to N150,000 totally over N200m. On the heels of this kind gesture was another N250m empowerment for the traders during when 5000 of these conscientious traders got N50,000 each to boost their trade.

Also, Senator Yayi's mega empowerment programme in which over 15,000 residents of Ogun West senatorial district benefitted. Cash grant ranging from N80,000 to N150,000 totalling N1bn was disbursed to those that have been trained in one vocational skills or the other. This was in addition to working tools like dryers, sewing machines, freezers, gas cookers, among others, that were given to these artisans. The second part of this empowerment programme said to have cost the Senator N2bn are provision of 50 tricycles, 30 shuttle buses for use in some selected higher institutions in the state, two brand new 18-seater buses for the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Igbesa as well as three brand new Hilux patrol vehicles for three Area Command of the Nigeria Police in the senatorial district. I mean, the records are there in the public domain for doubting thomas.

All of these are in addition to numerous road projects, and classrooms the Senator has facilitated to the senatorial district less than 365 days in office. Can you imagine how life would be made more comfortable for our people if all of us in politics could take a cue from what Yayi has been doing with his political participation? What I am saying is that the political class needs to lead by example for upcoming generation, rather than abuse of public office for private gain or business and profit mentality, we must always prioritize our people above personal glory and self agrandizement, we should always look for the opportunity to better the lives of our people, and continue with the legacy of our founding fathers like late sage Awo.

* What is your message to Nigerians, given the time we are in, most especially in the face of the biting economic situation ?

We are all feeling the heat, but I have the assurance that President Bola Tinubu is not sleeping over all of these heartfelt pains of Nigerians. He is a grassroots politician to the core, so I am sure he is getting the feedback and I have the confidence and faith in his agenda, and by the special grace of God, Nigeria will be great again.

DACA convener, Akintunde hails judiciary over Gov Abiodun's Supreme Court victory

Convener, Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda (DACA) Armstrong Akintunde has described the Supreme Court judgement which upheld the election of Dapo Abiodun as the governor of the state as another big boost to entrenching good governance and democracy in the country.

Armstrong, in a statement by his Media Consultant, Oluseun Joshua, disclosed that Gov Abiodun's overwhelming victory at the court has further validated the obvious truth that the governor won the March 18, 2023 based on his outstanding performance during his first term in office.

The APC chieftain who described the victory as been so sweet coming after the oppositions were already gallivanting over the state and assuring their supporters that what they failed woefully on the field of play during March 18 governorship election to receive, the Supreme Court would give them through the backdoor.

The Iperu born property merchant said that he and his thousands of Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda (DACA) members who worked day and night mobilising people across the state to support the second term of Gov Abiodun due to his fantastic achievements during the first term knew that the opposition would surely come back from the apex beaten, batterd and out.

He said "we all witnessed the last Governorship election in the state and we all know that Gov Abiodun really deserves to win the second term given his track records during his first four years in office.

"I was really concerned when the opposition said they wanted to contest this outright victory because it was a deserving one, fortunately the tribunal, the Appeal Court and now the Supreme Court have all confirmed it again and again that the victory of Gov Abiodun was real and earned.

"The oppositions have lost again. This victory is for democracy and of course another source of encouragement to our hardworking Governor to continue his good works till 2027.

"I rejoice with our leader, the governor and my prayer is that the Almighty God will continue to strengthen him to record greater achievements in the state. What is left is for the opposition to join hands with Governor Abiodun to develop the State, anything less is another share waste of time".

"I equally want to thank God Almighty, the giver of all things, I thank the good people of Ogun state, many thanks to all DACA members and special thanks to Gov Abiodun and APC legal team and the men and women of integrity in the Judiciary for working tirelessly to sealed this well deserved victory".

* Passes vote of confidence on Oshiomole

Following the continuous crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state over the emergence of Dapo Abiodun as the flagbearer of the party in the next year's Governorship election, some groups have appealed to Governor Ibikunle Amosun to accept the party's decision.

The groups which included Ogun progressive students, Ogun Youth Assembly, Coalition of Ogun Traders and some civil society bodies on Monday, staged a peaceful protest against what they described as "determined mission of Amosun to drag the hard earned integrity of ogun state into mud".

The placard carrying pro Dapo Abiodun protesters also passed vote of confidence on the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole.

They were led by Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, Convener Ogun progressive youths and students, Abdul Kabiru Ayoola, Convener Movement for Secured Nigeria and Idris Muhammad, Secretary, Ogun Arewa Council.

Some of their placards reads: "Adams Oshiomole don't compromise, Protect our mandate. Don't compromise, Dapo Abiodun is our man. Don't kill democracy, the voice of the people must be heard. Amosun beware!!!".

Speaking on behalf of the groups, Ayoola said the groups would stand against any candidate as against the people's decision, saying "The conscious minded ogun state citizens have observed with keen interest ,the continued insistence of Governor Amosun to indirectly run a third term Government by imposing his solely anointed candidate".

He added "We implore him to accept the Democratic decision of the teeming members of APC in Ogun state, they've made a legitimate choice of Dapo Abiodun".

According to him, " If at this point in time, we fail to speak, history will never forgive us, neither will posterity judge us well. The above bodies make bold to stage this protest against the determined mission of the Governor of Ogun state to drag the hard earned integrity of ogun state into mud."

He said "It is as well important to remind Governor Ibikunle Amosun on how he was favoured with the ticket of the party in 2011 against the interest of the real years back commited members of the party, that have been peddling and sacrificed alot for the sustainance of the party before his arrival.

As a matter of reference, Governor Amosun clinched the ticket without any primaries in 2011. In 2018,it was a keenly contested primaries forvg the party governorship ticket, conducted by the NWC of the party. "

On Oshiomole, he said "It is on this note that we commend comrade Adams Oshiomole for restoring decency, dignity and decorum to the fabric of the party. We hereby PASS A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE on Comrade Adams Oshiomole, the national chairman of APC,he has performed excellently in handling the affairs of the party beyond expectation".

He added "We implore him not to get discouraged by some comported persons that will be acting under forces, making condenmable words against him. We see them as hungry persons that are ready to sell there future for peanuts."

On the alleged intervention of Paramount rulers on the crisis, he said "We equally condenm the ridiculous use of our paramount rulers, they are not tools in the hands of the government. We see this executive recklessness".

He concluded "Finally, we call on the NWC of APC not to bow to an unpopular call be some few resourcefully opportuned persons, calling for the withdrawal of the popular mandate given to prince dapo Abiodun. Dapo Abiodun is the choice of the masses beyond APC itself".

Nnamdi Kanu: NANS berates FG over deportation call

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has berated the federal government over alleged the alleged ultimatum given to Israeli Government to deport Nnamdi kanu within seven days.

The students described the ultimatum as a cheap calculated back up to actualise a shady and selfish aim.

It will be recalled that Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was declared missing on November, 2017 after a military raid on his house.

He however resurfaced and seen praying at the Wailing wall in Israel on Friday.

But NANS, in a statement by its national PRO, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, wanted that the call for Kanu's deportation by the federal government was to achieve some strategised anti masses and anti-democratic acts ahead of the 2019 general elections.

According to the statement, "The national leadership of NANS read with utmost dismay the ultimatum given to Israel Government to deport Nnamdi kanu within seven days.

"We see this as a cheap calculated back up to actualise a shady and selfish aim.

"It is worthy of note that Nnamdi Kanu has long hibbernated away from the known of many Nigerians, the federal Government as well claimed not to have knowledge of his location.

"We see this call as an ambiguous one, suspicious to be a politically motivated one. In which Nnamdi kanu has been negotiated to return to the country, to achieve some strategised anti masses and anti-democratic acts ahead of the 2019 general elections.

"It is so embarrassing to hear from the minister for information, that the federal government is just getting information on where a known accused terrorist, that has an established case in the court of law has been hidden for over ten months, this further affirm that Nigeria is still far away from the desired dream of many progressives.

"We call on all Nigerians to be intellectually calculative of this ambiguous ultimatum.

"NANS will not relent in adequate monitoring of our hard earned democracy,as the integrity of our country remains the door openers for Nigerians and Nigeria towards secured business dealings with other countries"

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail over the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state not to deny Afeez Olaniyi Balogun his House of Representative aspiration.

The NANS National Public Relations Officer, Afeez Adeyemi, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

The students appealed to stakeholders and leadership of APC in Ogun, through the president not to sit and watch the hard earned struggle of Nigerian youths and students been stampeded.

Adeyemi noted that the youths had suffered and laboured for long, to make the ” Not Too Young to Run” law, a dream come through.

The NANS spokesperson added that out of the three Senatorial district in Ogun State, none was being occupied nor contested by the youth.

“NANS Sees it as a day light robbery and mockery of the NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN, if out of the 9 seats of the federal house of Representatives in the state, that of Abeokuta South Federal Constituency was the only seat contested by a youth and a former student leader, Balogun.

” As such we see no reason(s) for the party state leadership and stakeholders not to unanimously consent the ticket to Nigerian
students,by giving our Comrade,a renowned student leader, whom we are well pleased with.

“After thorough assessments of ages of all aspirants vying for the tickets of house of representatives under ogun APC, Comrade Afeez Olaniyi Balogun, remains the youngest,in his mid 30s, full of strength and ideologically equipped, with proven worthy good leadership records.

“It is important for the APC to see this as a great deal between the party and NANS, as that will be an assurance of students supports to the party.

“NANS national leadership appeals to president Muhammad buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomole,as real progressives, to consider our mandate, Comrade Afeez Olaniyi Balogun, for the ticket of the Abeokuta South Federal House of representatives.

”We are however using this medium to call on the President Muhammadu Buhari and National Chairman of the Party Com. Adams Oshiomhole to please come to our aid and prevail on governor Ibikunle Amosun.

“We can afford to force our man out of the party and follow him to wherever he wants to go but, he refused saying, that can resort to an act of disloyalty but if the party refused to prevail on the governor we would vote against the party both at the state and federal level.

“We would ensure that we vote against Mr President during the 2019 election if our appeal is neglected".

Bus conductors to deliver over 10 million votes for Buhari

Bus conductors in Nigeria have promised to deliver not less than ten million votes for presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 general elections.

The bus conductors under the aegis of Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN) also said the integrity and accountability exemplified by President Buhari stood him out of the presidential aspirants.

Speaking at the Inauguration of Ogun State Liason Officers & Executives of the association recently, National Liason Officer, BCAN, Comrade Israel Adeshola said none of the presidential aspirants can match him at the polls.

"His integrity and accountability stand him out and if we have that kind of quality in a leader like him, why should he not return.

"We have so many resources and money in Nigeria, how can we manage it if not by using Buhari to mange it well for us.

"The other contenders have been governors before now and they have no good track records like that of Buhari. But let me assure you that I will lead more than ten million Nigerians for President Muhammadu Buhari.

NIGERIA AT 58: NANS SEEKS IMPROVED LIVING CONDITIONS FOR NIGERIANS

Mere thoughts, even insinuations been baseless, could be swept and kept under the carpets of different make-ups, with time they may mature to obvious tangible facts, such that their voices and conspicuousness could not be shielded or covered the-more.

If at this point in time, the leadership of NANS fails to speak, history will never forgive us,neither will posterity judge us well.

It is evidently clear that some years after independence, the expected continual growth of NIGERIA gets deteriorating and regressing daily.
You will agree with us, that the problem of Nigeria is not Nigeria itself nor climate nor weather nor the water. NIGERIA'S problem is basically a result of bad leadership in government and governance.

A country with bad leaders will have nothing working in the interest of the masses.

Our roads are death traps. Our highways are crying for maintainance and repairs.

Our hospitals lacks needed amenities,it has been assumed to be for the poor masses. If well equipped, it may be of competitive standard with that of other countries our leaders have chose to have confidence in.

Electricity generation and supply gets deploring daily, regardless of continual billions of naira pumped in by the past and present administrations. No doubt, if this funds were sincerely and judiciously expended on the project, we must have gotten the desired result years back.

Our Educational sector suffers alot from the budgetary allocation to the implementation of the allocated funds. Nigerian government prioritise conviniency of political office holders above the development of educational sector. Classrooms in primary and secondary schools are in worst state, no chairs and lockers to aid easy writing and learning. Education at the higher level has been seen as a source of revenue generation to many state owned institutions, thus making education not affordable to the sons and daughters of the poor.

Security in Nigeria is nothing but a complete shame. Insurgents have successfully taken over some parts of the country, while the government keeps assuring us deceitfully on overcoming the insurgents. Hundreds of lifes of Nigerians have been terminated by the insurgents.

OUR POSITIONS :

(1) that the federal government should as a matter of urgency probe the killings and invasion of UNIJOS HOSTEL by militias on the 30th of September, 2018.

(2) that President Muhammad Buhari should immediately meet with security chiefs to find an end to the killings in the country.

(3) that president Muhammad Buhari should urgently revisit and digest his electoral promises, for him to evaluate his achievements and successes so far as president, to know if he'd truly performed to expectations of NIGERIANS on him.

(4) NANS national leadership under it's president Comrade bamidele DANIELSON Akpan calls on over 40.1million Nigerian students to be ready for a nationwide protests across the states of the federation, on the 8th of October 2018, should the president fails to act urgently on the first (1) position above.
Any attempted attempt to stampede or disrupt our protests shall be maximally resisted by the ever stand well Nigerian students.

Dapo Abiodun denies plan to dump APC

A governorship candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogu State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has denied the news making the round that he is planning to defect from the party to another.

A statement by the Media Director of Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organization, Emmanuel Ojo, described the purported news as a mere propaganda, which is coming from known quarters and can best be seen as a clear indication that some people are already admitting defeat.

The statement added that Abiodun is a known party stalwart who believes so much in the ideals and values of the Progressives.

It stated that Abiodun will never tow any political path that is not honourable as being speculated by the sponsor of the fake story in circulation.

According to the statement, "Our attention has been drawn to a fictitious, imaginary and fabricated story flying around that Prince Dapo Abiodun is planning to dump APC should the state chapter conduct indirect primary as against the Direct primary method that was approved for the state by the NWC.

"This is nothing but mere propaganda coming from known quarters and can best be seen as a clear indication that some people are already admitting defeat.

"He is not a desperate politician who won't stop at nothing just because he wants to be a governor at all cost.

"As a cerebral personality, his aspiration had been adjudged as a blessing to Ogun state, having garnered a robust cooperate experience and prerequisite leadership skills that will assist our dear state in her quest to be truly seen as the gateway state.

"Prince Dapo Abiodun's core political drive is to serve the good people of Ogun State and this is the only motivating factor behind his governorship aspiration.

"As a loyal party member, he stands firmly with the decision and directive of the NWC on the mode of conducting primary elections in Ogun State which is direct primary.

"This is what all members of our party craved for in Ogun State and as one of the strong advocates of this mode of election, it is illogical to assume that some people will disobey the party leadership and act against this directive, let alone imagining the exit of Prince Dapo Abiodun from APC".

The governorship hopeful advised the general public to disregard and ignore the propaganda, which is meant to hoodwink the polity by haters of direct primary in Ogun State.

Dapo Abiodun chides Amosun over directive to party executives

The leading governorship aspirant in Ogun State APC, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described Governor Ibiknule Amosun's directive to the party executives to snub him as unpatriotic and detrimental to the interest and unity of the
party.

He made this known at the town hall meeting he had with the party faithful from Abeokuta South Local Government.

Abiodun also charged all the members of the party to unequivocally reject indirect primaries.

He urged them to insist on their right to choose their candidates at all levels through direct primaries.

He reiterated his stand that only the best is good enough for Ogun State recalling how this position led him to facilitate the emergence of
the incumbent governor in 2011.

"I was one of the people who went to plead with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Osoba for the incumbent governor to be given the governorship ticket of ACN in 2011 after he failed in 2007 with ANPP” he narrated.

The Chairman of Corporate Affairs Commission explained that his support for Amosun was based on the conviction that he was the best candidate at that time and not because of political patronage.

"I wonder where I've wronged the governor with
my ambition, with all the support I gave him then, I neither asked nor got any position whether for myself or any of my loyalists. I supported him in the interest of our beloved Ogun State” he explained.

He promised to return party to the people if he is elected as the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer for the fast approaching election.

“I promise to return the party to the people because the party belongs to the people. It is not individual or a family party that some people feel they should have perpetual control of it” he concluded.

Stand up for freedom, Dapo Abiodun charges Ogun APC members

A governorship aspirant in the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodu, has charged members of the party to stand up and fight for their freedom and allow their vote to count by choosing their candidate by themselves and not allow indirect primaries to prevail where they can have their says.

Dapo made this charge during his whistle stop tour with members of Ogun APC in Abeokuta South, Imeko Afon and Yewa North local governments.

He recalled on how he has supported the incumbent governor to achieve his ambition to be a governor of the state.

He said, "I was one of the people who went to plead for the incumbent governor to be allowed to govern the state in 2007 but we failed. After that election, we realise we didn't do stomach infrastructure. Then we try again in 2011 with 11 state house of Assembly members around the state which I personally financed. "

Dapo, who wondered why the incumbent governor does not want to support his governorship ambition said "I wonder where I've wronged the governor with my ambition, with all the support I gave him then, not that he gave me any post or my loyalist which I never questioned him for".

He however challenge the people to fight for their freedom as electorates by allowing the party to conduct its direct primaries.

He described the plan to elect candidates of the party for 2019 election through the delegate system as an indirect admittance of failure on the part of the outgoing governor, adding that a government that is really in touch with the people would not be afraid of putting its fate in the hands of the electorates.

He promised to return party to the people if he is elected as the APC aspirant to run along with other party aspirants for 2019.

"I promise to return the party to the people because the party belong to the people and not individual or a family party that some people feels they should have control", he assured.

He implored party members across the state not to give up on their clamour for direct primaries as recommended by the national leadership of the party, assuring them that there is no going back until the will of the people prevails.

He also urge the party faithfuls to use the ongoing continuous membership registration of our great party via the internet to drive the membership of the party.

Ogun guber: Hunye denies alignment with another Abiodun

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Abayomi Samako Hunye, has dismissed the rumours making the rounds that he had jettisoned his Governorship ambition and aligned with another aspirant, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Hunye described such rumours as baseless and unfounded, arguing that he remained resolutely committed to his dream of governing Ogun state.

In a statement he issued on Sunday, Hunye said it was unimaginable for anyone to have cooked up such a story because he had never at any point or place thought of withdrawing from the governorship race let alone discuss such with anyone.

He said, "whoever came up with such rumours are wicked and enemies that should be avoided by all means possible".

According to him, such rumours are nothing but a calculated attempt to smear his image and put a spinners in the wheels of the progress already recorded in pursuance of his ambition of governing the state.

"Whoever is behind this destructive and diversionary tactics will never succeed", he declared.

Hunye said he was taken aback to hear that he had jettisoned his ambition and joined the camp of Abiodun.

He described such as lies as ones from the pit of hell because according to him, he would never give up his ambition for anything or anyone this time having done that twice in the past as a result of persuasion by the leadership of his party.

He added that as a loyal member of his party who wanted the best for his party as well as a progressive person.

Hunye admitted himself and Abiodun have been cultivating a friendship but declared it was not about giving up his governorship aspiration but basically on friendly level which he described as cordial, progressive, developmental and mutually beneficial.

The Governorship aspirant asked. "Has it now become a crime for fellow aspirants to maintain a close relationship. I really don't see anything wrong with that.

"We are both from the same state and we belong to the same political party, so I do not see any reason why we cannot be friends", he stressed.

The Ipokia-born politician stated that he would not allow such rumours to deter his programmes and plans for his aspiration, disclosing that he had put machinery in motion by appointing Director General as well as Spokesperson for his campaign organization and that these functionaries would be unveiled very soon.

He also revealed that a team of cerebral personalities has been put in place to galvanized and perfect his administration's blueprint in readiness for his emergence as the Governor of Ogun state.

No Going Back on Direct Primaries in Ogun
- Dapo Abiodun

A frontline gubernatorial aspirant Prince Dapo Abiodun has faulted the fictitious plans by the Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress to conduct its primary elections through the delegate system.

He described the plan to elect flag bearers through the delegate system as an indirect admittance of the fact that the governor is getting unpopular within the party, adding that a government that is really in touch with the people would not be afraid of putting its fate in the hands of the electorates.

He made this known earlier yesterday during his consultation visit to a three term former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Isiak Abiodun Akinlade and other leaders in Owode-Yewa who declared their support for his governorship aspiration.

Honourable Abiodun Akinlade, who was a leading gubernatorial aspirant from Ogun West senatorial zone has pledged his unalloyed support to Dapo Abiodun’s quest to Govern the state and make her a model for other states.

He described Prince Dapo Abiodun as a selfless individual who shares his wealth without discrimination.

He recalled that the business mogul’s generosity was instrumental to his election as the member representing Yewa-South/Ipokia Federal constituency in the House of Representatives in 2003.

While addressing party members in the town, Prince Dapo Abiodun faulted governor Amosun’s self-acclaimed love for Ogun West.

He explained that the outgoing governor should have demonstrated his love for the people of Yewa and Awori land through the execution of meaningful projects in their land instead of attempting to foist an unpopular candidate on them.

He promised to prove his love to the people of Ogun West by addressing the infrastructural and human capital deficits in the senatorial district and also create jobs for the youths through industrialization and entrepreneurial scheme.
