Pls guys my appointment with the German embassy is next week, I applied for a long-term visa becos I was accepted in a school in Germany.

So I want to really know if it's mandatory to go with Health insurance

It's obvious some us do not read the existing conversations. This question has been answered on the same page you are asking.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO WITH AN HEALTH INSURANCE FOR THE VISA INTERVIEW. IT WILL BE STATED IN YOUR A.M MAIL WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO ISSUE YOU VISA. WAIT TILL THE EMBASSY REQUESTS FOR IT!

Please, answer this question. Does he need to take Health insurance along for visa Interview?

You don't need health insurance for visa interview. They will request for it when they are ready.

Hi all,
Please what is the validity period of the visa. I understand that it’s usually 3 months and then you obtain your Residence Permit.
But Say for instance My 1st semester begins April 10. Will it be possible for my to go to Germany by March 10 ( a month prior)?

What’s the typical validity on the visa.
Is the visa only valid from 1 week to the beginning of the semester?

Please anyone in Germany or with their visa yet to travel should please respond. Thank you

The visa is valid from the date written on the visa. The embassy (Nigeria) gives 3 or 6 months visa. You then extend it prior to the end of the validity at your foreign office in Germany.

Normally, when they are about to issue you visa in Nigeria, you will be asked your intended date of travel and other things. The date your semester begins may not necessarily be the date that your visa begins to count. The date your visa begins to count is majorly dependant on the date you did your visa interview and how fast the embassy processes your application. You can not travel before the validity of your visa.

Baba relax, not all schools acknowledge receipt from uni-assit. University of Potsdam doesn't too. In as much as you are sure that uni-assist says they have forwarded your application, just chill and be hopeful

Thanks guys for your comments

Pls if I forward my documents to uniassist, will I still send the documents to the 3 schools via courier services or the one with uniassist covers for the 3.

Also, I'm applying for winter sep/oct, can i apply now.. Or i should wait till april/jun when the application opens again.

Another thing is the VPD stuff..does it mean i can still apply anytime regardless of the winter session.

Please help.

If your school says you should apply through Uni-assist, all you need do is to register on Uni-assist 's portal, apply to the schools, print out your application form and send the necessary certified documents with your application by post to uni-assist. You do not have to send the documents to your school unless they require you send them a VPD obtained from Uni-assist after the preliminary evaluation.

I don't have an idea of the second question.

You can mail the school and asked them to correct the typo and send you another copy.

About booking visa appointment, just go to the online link and try booking. Its difficult to get dates, so you have to keep trying.

If they don’t respond to your mail to correct the typo on time, you can go ahead with the copy you have. I don’t think it will be much of an issue.

Meanwhile, when did you apply for this admission, and Is it for summer or winter semester?

He he... Let's be careful on the way we read and answer questions as not to mislead people o. There is a typo on his sponsorship letter not his admission letter.

Hi guys...
I have been following this thread for a while now.
I have gotten a lot of useful info here.
I have been waiting on admission letter from 3 universities I applied to in October via uni assist.
1. University of cologne
2. Flensburg University of Applied Sciences
3. FH Aachen.

I only got responses from University of cologne for my username and password but no info yet on admission status.

I would like to know if anyone has gotten admission from any of these schools.
I am getting a bit worried. Does the application process really takes this long?

When is/was the deadline of application to these schools? Are the study places restricted? If yes, you might to wait for at least a month after the application deadline.

You need only one set of certified documents for all the schools you wish to apply to for the semester and up to a year. However, you will need signed application form from uniassist of each school. If the school that the app will be opened in February 1st is not requesting for VPD, you can only register the course when the application period starts, thus, you will not be able to send the signed application form from uni-assist with January 1st package. But you can send that of january 1st with the certified documents, then look for someone in Germany that can help you print, sign and post it to uni-assist. It will cost less than 1k using this method. Shalom

Please note that you can apply through Uni-assit for a course before the application period. I did that..

Good day..how long after deadline for submission of documents (jan 15) will schools start sending admission letter...anyone who can give an estimate pls

It depends on the course you are aspiring for. If the course is restricted, you might have to wait for as much as some weeks after the deadline but if it not restricted you may get your admission notice before the deadline or few weeks after the deadline.

ok, thank you, but am uploading online, not mailing it to the school

Is your school requiring that you upload certified copies? Because the essence of certification is to make authentic the photocopies. In that regard, the certified photocopies and the original certificates are the same. If they did not mention that you upload *CERTIFIED* copies, please upload your original certificates but if they specified, make copies of your original certificates and certify the photocopies.

Bitte, use uni. Some folks have gone for their interview with an admission letter from Studienkolleg, only for the consulate to mail them day/s after that they should mail them the admission letter from the university.

Haba Samiey, don't loose hope for a career in medicine. It is not difficult to get an admission to study medicine in Germany as you think. Do you have your WAEC intact? Enroll for German classes at Goethe Institut, Lagos. Start from A1 to B2 (1year, 3months). Once you have a B1 certificate(some Studentkolleg accept certificate of participation from Goethe and) and some request for B2 certificate, apply to as many Studentkollegen as possible and expect your admission letter. I know what I am saying.
Samiey:
Hello People.
I need advice.. I passed out from secondary school 2015...i have been trying Nigerian universities, precisely Unilorin(medicine ),but luck hasn't been on my side. This year's admission into a Nigerian university is very slim for me. Thinking of going to Goethe or any private language German school, so that I will apply for winter 2018....
My question is taking jamb again or going to the lang school or a private uni here in Nigeria (which I can't afford) ...i really want to go to Germany guys

..hello is possible to learn German for a year and study a course in German language.. Because learning a new language and studying in that language might be a little hard

Please note that if you apply for visa for language course does not cover your stay for your undergraduate course. The visa given to you for language course can not be extended after your language course. You have to come back and reapply for students' visa for your degree course.

Job well done all nairalanders. I sent a mail today to the Consulate regarding Students' visa appointment and got the response; "fully booked for the Winter Semester, you are welcome to book for Summer"!. My enrollment deadline is 10th of November.
