Travel › Re: How Best Do I Get Out Of Nigeria With My Family by lancee(m): 3:40pm On Dec 18, 2013
hopful: @op,
You are entitled to your decisions, but pls make an informed one.
Leaving such combined couple income to start afresh needs a second thought.
You said its for your children's future; with what you are earning , you can send them to ivy league schools anywhere if you save upfront for that. Even many citizens of the developed nations cannot afford such.
I agree that the Nigerian situation can be frustrating even when you have money, but plan well before you leap.
Don't think that some people are not suffering in the US, i have seen homeless citizens here and I vowed that rather than become homeless , i will go back to nigeria. I am a student on scholarship and I thank God for that, otherwise, living here could be difficult financially, except of course you have people back home to rely on. So if you decide to come for studies, consider the financial implications for a family of 4, with need for health insurance etc.
I cannot discourage you from leaving nigeria, but have a solid plan.
A work based migration will be a good option, so you can explore such.
If you really want it, you will find a way.
U re correct , a work based migration to Canada or US is much better for you sir as a family man compared to schooling ... Lool this life is soo funny [ when most people are now sending/ making plans to send their children back to Nigeria to good schools cos they re spoilt here ] .

Travel › Re: Why Should Someone Sell Their Properties To Travel Abroad by lancee(m): 2:47pm On Dec 16, 2013
Mr Knowitall: Most Nigerians sell their properties to travel abroad because the rate of returns for their time, effort, investment,

education etc... is much better abroad.

Also, there are other factors you have to add to the equation: security, emergency service, stability, etc...

For example, lets say that your friends car was worth $8,000, his house was worth $80,000, and his boutique was

worth $10,000. Now lets assume your friend's boutique was bringing in about $16,000 a year, and he spent about

$15,000 to come to the United States. So your friend had a minimum of $98,000 minus the $15,000 he spent on

coming to the United States, so the moment your friend lands in the U.S he has $83,000 to invest in his future.

Because your friend was making $16,000 a year in Nigeria from his boutique, every year he Spense in the U.S,

he would have to make at least that much to at least justify why he left Nigeria. But since he had $83,000 cash

on hand, you will have to divide the $83,000 by $16,000 he was making yearly in Nigeria so this gives him a 5

year head start. Every dollar your friend makes in those five year is a surplus. If anytime within those five

years your friend gets a four year degree or some kind of technical training and starts making $44,000 a year,

your friend would be consider a brilliant investor. In fact, he could even go back to Nigeria an use his degree

to work and make more money than he would had made running the boutique. There are more variables to

the equation but this is just a break down i guess.
MY BROS.. ITS EASIER SAID THAN DONE .. ENU DUN RO EFO, SUGBON AGADA OWO KO SE GE GEDU ..I KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT DID EXACTLY THE SAME AND HE IS REGRETTING IT AT THE MOMENT IN THE U.S ...AT THE MOMENT THE WIFE IA BLAMING THE HUSBAND AND THE HUSBAND BLAMING THE WIFE . [FRUSTRATION ] HOW WOULD YOU SELL YOUR HOUSE TO COME OVER HERE
AM NOT AGST ANYONE TRAVELLING OUT , AND SELLING WHAT YOU HAVE "BUT NOT YOUR HOUSE "

angiemartinez: God is not a robber, every thing you sacrifice is for your lifting. i joined the commission last year, and i have moved from one level to another. i am a product of grace. last year shiloh i sow my gold necklace, and cleared my acc which was not up to 20k. i tied it to my marriage and an increment in my salary. for the first time in the history of my coy, my confirmation came with an increment in feb, and in july i was graciously wedded. i resigned and came to benin to join my hubby, in less than 2 mths, i got anoda job. God has really blessed me tru dis man. this shiloh is mine again, i will still testify.
Good that is working for you , also working for me .. Things we do that re foolish is the eyes of men , re meaningful to God

solomon111: yes you have a choice.
Invest those huge monies in Nigeria.
There are opportunities everywhere if you look hard enough.
Nigeria is an investors delight, unfortunately the citizens themselves just want to travel out in search of the elusive greener pastures.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU

I pray it does not happen but be that as it may I have decided that from March 2014 I start converting 70% of my Assets to cash(Dollars not Naira) just in case. I had also wanted to diversify into some Real Estate(Flipping of Land) but the thought and fear of the bolded scared the hell out of me.
Had that in mind as well ,last Tbills is ending by april I pray exchange rate does not go higher at that time .. keeping an eye on ur money is very imp

bigx: I dont think. Oando is that bad, apart from the management issue.
Its basically a group of hot blooded young men willing to take big risks.
In business, the bigger the risks the bigger the anticipated reward and as a business person I understand that perfectly.
I admit they can go bust at any moment, like any company but the upside of Oando transforming into a Full Upstream Oil firm is....... Tasty cheesy

Ive owned it since 2007 and enjoyed my biggest percentage dividends and bonuses from them every year until the recent issues.
Id buy again when I feel its time to. If they clean up their act, it can be held for another 5 years
U ve said it all Sir ......Group of Hot blooded young men willing to take big RISK .. Am leaving my oando and buying more . If u no get liver comot now . This is a personal decision pls

Aks: Greediness can make us to lose in this business of shares. I sold my large chunk of Oando shares on Friday and the remaining on yesterday @ a right price after making 45% gain against my stockbroker's advice to leave it but I'm happy today otherwise the gain would have dropped tremendously. The sellers now outweigh buyers which made it to shed N1.00 and the share price is now N14.54. I'll soon join the train very soon

the brokers would first either buy or sell theirs before even touching yours!

OANDO and TRANSCORP are all on offer!...i expect them to loose for the next couple of days hopefully we can reanter Transcorp at 1.35k once again! cheesy
