AgricultureRe: My Agric Farm Diary (cucumber, Tomato, Pepper, Etc) by Lanjonath(m):
Never!

Think of it as a the race between the turtle and the hare. Darina fruits faster and has bigger fruits which will stress the plant more and it also has zero Dm resistance. But Greengo takes longer, develops its roots and stem longer, has smaller fruits that the plant can easily support and a far better disease resistance which means a far longer harvest period. Handle DM, feed well and you can harvest Greengo 9/10 times (speaking from experience).

InvestmentRe: Why Forex Day-trading Is Dangerous by Lanjonath(m): 7:20pm On Feb 19, 2022
Honestly you couldn't have said this better. Most of these day traders make profits for a few weeks then blow the account. You will never see them show you their trade history for 6months or a year. Because the lot size they use and the excessive amount of trades they take (which is very risky) isn't a formula for consistent profits.

The dude that posted his very shortbtrading history nisnusing a 1.0 lot size, like for real?? One wrong move and the account is gone. Like 1.0...lmao

AgricultureRe: Fixed Odds Vegetable Production by Lanjonath(m): 10:31am On Dec 28, 2021
Attit:
Who I work with now.
I had to create my new world. I was tired of the backward people. Some see my words as insults, but let me say it here: only non forward looking people see them like this. Really it doesnt bkther me what others think about my style because the truth is always the truth. The truth is that I can only put here old school practical stuff. Lol. That's what many of them want to see. Lol. What is new in mulch? And can they still afford it? Or do they want to consider if? I believe they can afford it, but they just dont want to hesr about it. But not until they start seeing even poorer people using them. But the issue is that when you are the type who is always late to join the trend of innovation, h.mmmmm... Ask traders why it is important to spot trends fast. Lol.

So, who are the forward looking people in my network?

1. Post Graduate students studying abroad: Some pay as much as $15,000 yearly even after they deduct their financial aid packages from their total annual expenses. Some of them have found ways to assit themselves with vegetable production. 3 months in Nigeria is enough to get it done. Funny, summer is rainy season in Nigeria. That's a big plus. I am still working on perfecting the program.

2. Pensioners: I honestly run away from them, but when I see a forward looking pensioners, I advise only. I dont want to put my hands in their stuff cos they are very delicate. I cannot work with Pele who have very low risk tolerant level. However, I have met some good ones. The only reason I consider this group is cos they have enough time to manage their projects.

3. Remote workers: These are my favorites. I always emphasize picking regions with good internet facility and investing in moveable power system. They can do their jobs where they live which must be very close to their farm. So, getting farms close to river is out of it. Their own capital start up is totally different. But they make it big. This is me also presently.

4. Traders:
Forex, Crypto, Future traders are also on the list. Farming vegetable is a skill which can put their mind at rest for life.

So, you can see clearly that I work with legit hustlers, and not those pen robbers in government offices who are users. Those ones want to stay in their offices while they use their stolen funds on farms. While it may be possible in other places, it cannot work in this present Nigeria with the way everyone has turned out to be presently.

How many of those generals are successful with their farms? If you say Obasanjo is successful, maybe only when he was in power. Look well into this. Is Buhari really a successful with his cows? Look into it well. But look at the dairy site of USAID and what do you see?

It is not like the cost of food is cheaper in Nigeria. Or is it? Yes, I am talking in terms of dollars. Have you not noticed poor people dont cook at home again? They prefer buying already cooked food. Why? Those local places they buy food always buy spoilt food items which are cheap. Go and buy quality and healthy ones, and then compare with the price yoy buy them abroad. Of course, they arent cheap. Yet, you want to produce them cheaper. I do not know how you think it is possible. And the person you rely on, how far has he gone? Lol.

Buy quality materials and give yourself time to fail forward.. If you invest 5 million in a place free from bandits and herdmen, you van make it. I have stopped searching for land near river cos security comes first now. 3 years ago, my main arsenal for cost reduction is land near water. But not anymore again. Things change, and we must change with it. Many cannot even drill borehole. Lol. Rhe cost alone is out of reach. Well, you may take fake the risk just one time...but do you want to continue taking such high risk? My friend, you will cough out N10million when you see heads rolling on the floor. Do you want such?

Those pictures you see....the guys doing them are handy. If you ask them to replicate it on your farm and you dont pay them well, you are in trouble. But I am telling you, it is cheaper to use tech and forget their ways so you dont rely on anyone. Their initial estimates will be lovely. But as soon as you have locked yourself in the project, more demands start. Lol. And that's how you turn to their ATM. The smart man or woman turns to the dumbest person on earth soon.
Well said sir,I always look forward to your posts and I agree. Success isn't for everyone, it's only for those who are ready to go the distance for what it takes to achieve it.

Keep up the good work

There are people who sell 1000m drips, why not go that route? You'll even get 0.3 thickness at 1000m per roll.

AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 12:07am On Aug 13, 2021
You'll definitely get more than 10, I average around 14 in open field, green house will definitely be better.

fiddzy:
ok sir, please can 10 big cucs be gotten from mydas with good fertilizer schedule on open field?
AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 12:04am On Aug 13, 2021
On cukes I use more of acetamiprid, lampda cyolathrin (don't think i spelt that right) and cyfluthrin and they don't affect my bees in any way

FarmTech:
.
Some insecticides will persist and kill bees for weeks. Eg Chlorpyrifos, dimethoat etc. It is better to stick to safer ones like lambdacyhalothrin, Abamectin, neem oil, emmamectin etc

AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 10:41am On Aug 11, 2021
Nairalanders and jumping to conclusions, aylt least thank God you didnt insult me because thats not too far from y'all here. Where did I mention get ting the same yield as Jorad?? Insinoky said getting 20 cukes per plant isn't feasible.

Or maybe I should say it better, averaging 20 big straight cukes per plant in open field isn't possible, even seed forth agro advertise that.

emmaachile2:
With all the advancement, you still get same result as people using only npk with greengo and jorad? Then why waste your time and money with these extra fertlizers and expensive seed brand?
AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 9:42am On Aug 10, 2021
Lol..why though? You realize fungicides have little effect on insects right? And also when spraying in the evening all your beneficial insects will be off the farm by then.

You can even spray insecticides that'll normally kill/repel bees in the evening.ost of these chemicals deteriorate with time and in the presence of UV and should be long gone before your bees hit the farm in the morning.

Nezzjnr:
Exactly!!!

But I'm bit skeptical about Spraying Fungicide during Flowering period
AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 9:41am On Aug 10, 2021
Lo lol.. And your yield will be completely different as well. Hardly will you see a serious farmer who doesn't add more MOP, MAP, or magnesium sulphate to his mix depending on the plant stage. 15-15-15, 20-10-10 and the likes are just not enough.

abouzaid:
but the total cost of the fertilizer would be higher than buying an already blended NPK mix?
AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 9:37am On Aug 10, 2021

Lmao..Make I no talk. My fertilization regime is way more advanced than this. Only way you'll get 20 fruits is if you're harvesting small cukes in open field.

You're right, shade net will definitely increase its yield.

emmaachile2:
You will get 20 average fruits if you follow the right schedule in open field. The fertlization is twice a month with a minimum of 15g-30g fertlizer per plant. We used npk 20:5:10 with zinc as trace, SSP 20%, MOP 0:0:60 and magnesium sulphate.
I tested this with my colleagues in 50 growbags in Lokoja at the height of the heat in March/May
We mixed the fertlizers according to the stages with a formula for blooming flowers @ 4 weeks after transplanting at npk 20:25:35 with a magnesium sulphate foliar spray of 2grams per litre twice a month.
I believe with a shadenet of 50% UV, you will even get more.
AgricultureRe: 500,000 Naira From One Plot Of Land In 90 Days. by Lanjonath(m): 1:29pm On Aug 01, 2021
Mydaz is big and dark green, but you won't get 20 fruits per plant in open field sha. 91-95cukes should fill a bag

fiddzy:

klbakare:
my brother, it's a long story. Although I have gotten drip tapes now, but the challenge is that all of the accessories are also sold in bulk. like I need 15 connectors now, I want to buy a pack of 100. if I decide to use ground supports, I'd also have to buy a pack of 100. it's tiring my brother. cucumbers consume water like mad and watering with bucket is nauseating. Life is really hard for a DIYer in Nigeria. I am in Oyo State. Nairaland sellers are terrible, I have spoken or done business with some of them. Do you have any deal?

Yes it's packed but the BW resistance is Intermediate not high, so you need to take precautions, its an amazing cultivar though

emmaachile2:
I thought premier seeds only do maize seeds? cool
The Rambo F1 is one to watch as it's has all the checked points; bw resistance, large size tomato above 150g angry , and should be classed in the category of the Sakata Martyna F1.
East west, Technisem and co are still behind in tomato due to its small size.
