Thanks for the reply. Sorry which airline? Coz I booked an Ethiopian airline, I don’t know if they’ll request for a test.

https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php (check for Canada and Ethiopia entry rules)

https://www.ethiopianairlines.com/aa/travel-updates/updates-on-covid-19(coronavirus)
Canada doesn't require a test for entry.
Ethiopia requires a test for entry but NOT for transit.

In summary, no test required for your situation. (To the best of my knowledge grin )

I'm travelling via Cairo in December. I asked their staff and they confirmed I didn't need a test.

LANDING GIST! (Belated Version)

We had to pen this as we’ve learnt from others’ stories.

Submitted passports on 6th Jan.
Approved on 15th Jan.
Collected on 21st Jan.

On Jan 22nd we booked Emirates because of previous experience, 23hr layover (Dubai Connect (DC)…shoutout to @Torkwase1) and family size. We booked via travelbeta as it offered the lowest rates for our itinerary (vs emirates app, emirates website, emirates office, wakanow and travelstart).
A few days before the flight we made in-flight changes like child meal, seats, bassinet seats etc. PS: If you have a baby, fly first class. Can’t afford it? fly biz class. Still can’t afford it? Get seats right in front of the bulkhead.

29th Jan; we got to the airport 2hrs before take-off due to a serious medical condition called African timing! Check-in process was a breeze due to priority given to kids and all bags being within luggage restrictions. We didn’t forget to collect our Dubai Connect vouchers at the check-in counter. Immigration and boarding went smoothly too; only taxation occurred at crossing the boarding gates. Also, they let us board with already prepared baby formula.
Flight to Dubai wasn’t fully booked, the meals were good and our kids got toys, baby formula (Cowgate), craft stuff, personal care bags, etc. Travelling with a toddler and a baby is quite tiring, we only slept when they allowed us to. PS: Don’t let your toddler wait till 2nd leg extra-time stoppage time injury time before going to pee…queue fit dey loo.

We landed Dubai and lots of people were wearing face masks #Corona. We cleared immigration, confirmed our DC vouchers and got a free ride to the hotel. NB: First Class? Benz S550. Biz Class? Lexus ES350. Economy like me? Bus grin
We spent the layover sleeping, eating and sightseeing. We also got free tickets to the Dolphinarium from a real-estate company that cornered us at the airport on arrival.

Flight to Toronto was 12hours long and we landed early in the morning - around 9am. Immigration officer was God-sent; only asked us if we are married and how many kids. The moment she said “Welcome to Canada” I felt light instanta! #18MonthsProject
Proceeded to SIN, got our bags and exited the airport doors around 11:59:05am…came back to the airport by 11:59:10am…dressed for the weather…left finally.
We already booked AirBnB before we arrived, so we called for check-in instructions and found out it was a “covert listing”. We checked in and stayed indoors for the rest of the day.

Done back accounts and other stuff. Waiting for a bank letter to do OHIP.
Job hunting and reading towards certifications for now.

I am trying to respond to my ITA and have indicated in my profile that i have a sibling in Canada. These three docs are to be uploaded but they had exactly the same description.

1. Proof of PR/Citizenship of sibling
2. Proof of residency in Canada of sibling
3. Proof of sibling relationship

Did anyone have similar experience here? Did you upload the same documents in each? What documents am I to pay more attention to?

How do you register for Ontario Health Card BEFORE you get accommodation?

I've been refused registration at Service Ontario cuz I don't have a document to show "proof of residency in Ontario".

Currently staying at AirBnB.

VO: Ottawa…found out today.

Why Canada?

I have had family and friends relocate abroad but never really considered it cuz I had previously lived abroad during MSc. and didn’t stay back due to some reasons. My wife as well had no abroad leanings beyond vacations.
Working in Nigeria wasn’t easy; came close to a number of big jobs but didn’t get selected at final AC stage. The “small” companies I worked for had issues paying salaries on time or at all. I quit my job, archived my CV and focused on building my business in Nigeria. However, an issue that rendered me immobile (unable to make money too) for some days, made me realize the benefits of a country that considers the healthcare and welfare of its citizens paramount (go NDP!).

What Canada?

ECA:
WES was a breeze for me due to abroad MSc. I didn’t include my Nigerian degree. 21st, July – 17th Sep, 2018. My wife’s own took much longer cuz of Naija factor but we didn’t use it in the end cuz points were enough. My kid didn’t do at all cuz points were enough.

IELTS:
I already posted my IELTS story in part 5 . 29th Sept, 2018 – L 9, R 9, S 8, W 7.5. My wife didn’t write cuz points were enough. My kid didn’t write cuz kids don’t listen.

ITA v1:
We got our first ITA on Oct 29th, 2018 but rejected it cuz I had to use POF for business.

Medical v1:
We had our medicals on Nov 8th, 2018. Mine went smoothly. During our doctor interview, I mentioned my asthma history while my wife told him about her thyroid gland history. He said hers wasn’t an issue according to the system/software but he would double-check and get back to us. The waiting period was filled with anxiety. The next day, the nurse called to inform us that we passed. My kid did his medicals…yeah! finally contributing when points are not being taken.

ITA v3: April 17th, 2018.

POF:
It took a while to return to our account. Pls blame my clients, they are not alright…all right.
We had our funds in a joint (just my wife and I...my kid wasn’t happy about being excluded cuz he definitely contributed money) Stanbic Mutual Funds account. I logged in and printed our account statement in PDF, combined it with the scanned letter from Stanbic.

NOC:
Initially selected 2147 based on my previous job titles, but when I read the rules and found out that job role trumps trudeaus job title, I switched to 2281. My former offices owed it to me (literally and financially) to “follow my advice” on how to structure the letters.

LoE:
My letter was 63 pages long…attached docs inclusive oh. I explained every document uploaded in placeholders and attached to the LoE.
Major explanations:
i- POF: I felt I had to explain the source of POF cuz it came in bulk few days after/before ITAv3. I attached statements from my company account, CAC docs, biz docs (Purchase Orders, Contracts, etc.)
ii- Wife’s name: My wife had been using a shortened version of her name on ALL her official documents except her birth certificate which has the spiritual version. Her change of name after marriage was from her shortened version to her current name.

When Canada?

AOR/Post AOR:
May 27th, 2019
The wait was pretty chill for me as I have previously handled visa applications all by myself. I registered on immitracker and saw people going green in 69 days…we started praying for a speedy conclusion. grin
My wife occasionally asked for updates…but the frequency increased towards the end of 2019 as we needed to plan 2020.
My kid didn’t ask for updates at the beginning…neither at the middle nor the end. I’m beginning to suspect he doesn’t know what’s going on.
I joined the April/May AOR WhatsApp group around this time.
Our account was pretty uneventful till our medical expired Nov 8th 2019…ghost update. I read some people’s stories on canadavisa forum where they got their medicals extended so we were hopeful.
On Nov 10th, my wife gave birth to another kid who is also enjoying points he didn’t contribute to. We raised a CSE the following day etc (see timeline). IOM was kind enough to schedule us for the baby’s medical a day after baby’s passport was ready. I made a mistake when signing the IMM0008 form so we got an ADR for it. Baby’s UCI was ready on Dec 7th.
Medical v2 (entire family excluding new baby) requested on Dec 10th. MEPv2 on Dec 19th.
Got an ADR for updated POF even though I included it when uploading docs in response to ADR for Baby.
We received the PPR email on Jan 3rd, 2020.

How Canada?

Will find out after landing. cool

We are saying a big thank you to all those that answered our questions and pointed us in the right direction. We appreciate all the positive messages in response to my application status updates. We pray everyone’s PR dream is fulfilled.

God bless!

Thanks for your excellent analysis and response.

My wife will be requesting her masters and bachelors degrees from Nigeria to have them verified.

She will also be doing IELTS just like me.

The thing that got me with the WES was that I simulated with just my masters and it came to 200 dollars, same as when I simulated with both masters and bachelors.

It means that if I do just masters now I pay 200 dollars.

If I do backers later for my PEng I will pay another 200 dollars.

Yeah...it's a choice between time and money (assuming other fields are optimal i.e. age 20-29, 3yrs work xp, IETLS CLB 9 or even 10).

Firstly, study the process and estimate your CRS score.
ETA of next birthday...
Who is younger...
Who sabi English pass...

Thanks for the response. I am a novice here hence the questions.

But I will need it to practice engineering so I might need to do it?

Is it complicated to get the waec results sent to WES from outside Nigeria?

coolHi, like others have answered, you don't need to do evaluate your BEng for the EE process. Do only your highest: your MSc.
I understand you need it for P.Eng. but consider that Naija Uni's can delay your ECA plus you are not in Nigeria to "push" if it gets dire.
You can start the BEng ECA after you apply for PR like someone advised.

We are all advising you towards the option that will shorten your time to get an ITA.

However everyone's case is peculiar. You need to assess your situation and read page 1.

To answer your questions from IELTS prep thread.
"YES". Her MSc. would count for max points. (10pts)
"YES". Her scoring IELTS CLB 9 would give max points. (20pts)

I put yes in "" cuz I don't have your full info to know if points ll be "meaningful"

Read page 1, read cic site, calc with crs tool, understand the process...your wife might even get more points as PA.

I've my ECA and IELTS ready (CRS: 460+) but need advice as per your experiences/advise with a bun in the oven (EDD: late May 2019).
I've gone through your posts (Part 4 sef) but I see more of info about adding a newborn to the process. I've also done a bit of research on canadavisa but I'd like to hear from Naija experience.
I have all docs and POF (covering bun) ready.

1) Will the X-ray delay my wife's Medical till after birth? If YES, how does it affect the other processes? (I've read Medical is first after AOR)
2) At what stage is POF checked? and can I spend the money after that stage?

In summary, I want to know how long the funds should be intact after I receive ITA Or when I should have the funds ready to be checked so I can plan well cuz right now I can't afford to have that amount of money lying dormant till EDD.

I can clarify if necessary.

Thanks smiley
