The past week has been very interesting. In my yearning to see a leader that will clean up corruption in Nigeria, I wanted to see PDP leadership ended. I had convinced many that the Buhari leadership was the most credible. It was obvious that this man has lived honourably and wanted the pest of corruption cleaned out. This was a platform that Nigerians could believe in to clean out corruption and sacrifice 4 years to see the corrupt elitist gone.

However, the past few weeks and indeed the last week in particular put extra scrutiny on the Presidential hopefuls. Goodluck Jonathan has convincingly shown character. I previously had nothing against him but for the party members surrounding him. I heard Ajumogobia speak a few times and was proud of the intelligence that he possesses, and the class he shows while representing Nigeria as the foreign minister. A good decision made by President Jonathan. We saw our President visiting every part of Nigeria and making concessions. He spoke in English which is NIgeria's official language. Rumours even have it that he met with Tinubu. He further showcased programs that he is and would embark upon for the benefit of the country, including the sequestration of gas for power generation. We have now had power for 7 days with little interruption. Goodluck Jonathan was looking very presidential.

On the contrary, Buhari whom I was rallying for mainly for his anti-corruption crusade has not impressed me lately. He has ridden the anti-corruption crusade dry. I wasn't hearing much more about the affairs of the country and what he would do otherwise. In Lagos, I did not feel him reaching out for my vote, and no public addresses to keep my loyalty. When he came to Lagos, there was chaos as Okada riders both Nigerian and Nigerien filled the streets riding recklessly. He did not address this issue and appeal to them to be lawful and cease the recklessness. They were predominantly Northerners.

When I reviewed Buhari speeches, I noticed that most of his rallies were addressed in Hausa. Unfortunately, I am not Hausa and I do not speak the language, even though I wish I did. I felt disenfranchised not knowing what this guy that I had chosen to vote for was saying. I reflected that Governor Fashola also speaks some Yoruba when he is addressing his constituents that are majority Yoruba. However this is a Governorship candidate in a Yoruba State. He has to reach out to his constituents in a language that they understand. Goodluck Jonathan for all his recent speeches that I have seen are addressed in English. Every Nigerian is expected to understand him. He has bowed to Emirs, visited traditional leaders everywhere, and embraced all Governors regardless of their party affiliation. He looks like a National leader, while Buhari seems to only want to address Northerners who speak Hausa.

Despite the fact that I have issues about many PDP looters, I cannot help but like President Jonathan. His charisma has convinced me that he is indeed a National leader who cares. How could I not vote for him? Who are my other choices that will count? No!, Goodluck Jo0nathn has won my vote. Ribadu will have gotten my vote except that his reach was minimal, and I became wary of him after seeing him on stages with Tinubu. I am certain that Tinubu does not have a broad appeal and is infact seen as a Dictator. This was someone Ribadu had spoken against. Tinubu in my opinion rides Fashola's back like a Mafia Don. He legitimized agberos in Lagos, while Fashola created jobs to make them become responsible citizens. He is not someone that I will be proud of rallying for me.

After much deliberation, I decided to vote for Jonathan. Nigerians are getting better educated on the politic of Nigeria. They will nolonger be bamboozled. I can bet that ACN will not do well in this presidential election. Many who will have supported Ribadu frown at his new found love with Tinubu. I feel sympathy for Governor Fashola as the sharks have used his goodness and gains to maroon him, riding off his back. Tinubu's Family have taken over Lagos, while Fashola is doing all the work. A Fashola/Ribadu ticket would have swept Nigeria. However, the time was not ripe yet. If the good Governor's performance continues unabated by the Sharks now surrounding him, then he will surely be a shoo-in for the next presidential elections.

Finally, Buhari lost my vote when he could not forge an agreement with ACN to rally Nigerians behind him. Ribadu as announced was ready to step down. Egos have to be put aside to run a country diligently, or else, nothing will be achieved in the country. Agreements are necessary to be made and honoured to move things forward. Leadership begins with a listening ear and the ability to make concessions. A presidential candidate that cannot achieve this, will run down the country.

I must however give kudos to Nigerians for doing exceptionally well in this elections. I must thank Jega, and definitely President Jonathan for delivering a fair format and foundation for the electorate. Nigerians will no longer allow Politicians to separate us ethnically. Sherakau was impressive in the debates and I look forward to discovering more about him in the future. It is unfortunate that his platform did not have a strong outreach. Intellects always excel when given an opportunity to be discovered. As the Nigerian political climate begins to become non-violent, we will discover more great leaders. But for now I am happy to have performed my civic duty in voting for Goodluck Jonathan, and excusing his party affiliation. He has won my vote, and Nigerians are now taking time out to know the personalities that they invest their votes into.

My Brotha, At my polling area in Ikeja. Everyone shook hands and we all joked with each other after we got the results. I bought soft drinks and refreshments for all the polling people, security and other folks that still lingered after the tallying. We are civilized folks but Jonathan is in the wrong party. He will be made a Minister for running a fair election. I am not a party person. I voted ACN in national Assembly, will help vote Buhari in to cleanup corruption, and will definitely help vote the most credible Governor back, Babatunde Raji Fashola. Don't you wish that you guys had him?

Judging from the results so far, I foresee that GEJ will enjoy massive support throughout the South West. ACN will also get a huge chunk of votes as expected.

My reasons:

GEJ: The good people of the SW appreciate good performance when they see it. GEJ also played a very strong card in the SW. You will see the effect of this card he played in the results. He has reached out to a lot of people with this particular card.

ACN:  The SW is the stronghold of ACN. The ACN loyalists will want to cast their votes for ACN in order to show their political muscle. This is very important because, it sends a message about the strength of the party. Winning the election may not always be the only objective. However, if Buhari steps down, ACN will tighten its grip.

I am convinced that Buhari will be our next President. At my polling station in Ikeja where ACN won overwhelmingly. Even Jonathan boys were convinced that Buhari is the way out for Nigeria. I will post results next week.lol

Since my post rejuvenated this thread, I will suggest that people do their homework and find out that Buhari-Bakare will win with a margin of 52%- 63%. Take out propaganda and idle talk, Nigerians have more than tolerated PDP long enough. I would have voted Ribadu, but he clearly would not win. To make my vote count, I will vote Buhari who is the only Nigerian left with a liver to handle the untouchables!!! I have rarely made predictions and lost. If I lose this, Nairalanders will be offered a free beer each at an agreed location. May still do the free beer even when my prediction comes true, as we celebrate the renaissance of Nigeria and the cleanup of criminality. We owe this to the country. One term of Buhari should be good enough.

Lagos has some of the most informed individuals in Nigeria
GEJ is a friend of the entertainment industry and a strong advocate of freedom. Remmber Lagos is home to all the DBanj's and all the Silverbirds etc.
It is the most "detribalized" part of Nigeria.
It has a good mix of different ethnicities.

You are obviously a supporter of GEJ as I used to be, hence the subjectivity. However, my experience with talking to many people in Abuja and Lagos, as well as other parts of Nigeria indicates that people want a strong leader who can tackle the untouchables. This is why I will vote Buhari. I also believe that Nigerian newspapers are generally used to manipulate people in favour of the owners affiliation. I will trust the 2 polls that I posted better than any newspaper polls.

Who is worried and why are these rumours being created and spreading? If people act right then there will be nothing to worry about. Nigerians are getting better educated in politics and will no-longer be bamboozled. We will not be enslaved by personalities and cliques. There is something else I found peculiar, the manufacture date that I noticed on the door jamb was 12/06. Were the 2008 Models produced as early as 12/06? Will you be able to get the carfax info?
