Except there are hidden mineral discoveries up North, they aren't at all suited for any of the three technologies. There are tar sand deposits in the SW, especially Ogun state (you can see one in Lagos at Oketapas), but these havent yet been exploited because of cost.

Debosky also seems to know this area very well, maybe thats his field. So if you are investing in such tech, you might as well ask him rather than get burnt.

Rubbish - that's the story they've concocted to swindle you or the Nigerian government. The most established F-T technology in the world is held by SASOL of South Africa, running producing facilities (not 'test plants') even with one being build by Chevron in the N-D. If the technology is so good, the Russians would have deployed it on their gas reserves that far exceed anything in the delta.

again more imaginary nonsense - you need to ADD hydrogen to the methane produced to generate refined products and you do NOT produce water. Enough talking rubbish. Where is the oxygen in METHANE (CH4) that will yield water? Are you getting that from your rectum?

Methane in SMALL quantities exists with most coal deposits, but unless you have TIGHT GAS found in unmineable coal seams and in large quantities, you do not have sufficient gas to exploit. There are no such coal-bed methane discoveries in Northern Nigeria so your assertions regarding using methane from whatever source in the North are FALSE. You have lied and played up something you know little about/does not even exist.

F-T is NOT cheaper than conventional refining of crude oil, it can only work where there is a large stranded gas asset that cannot be disposed of by other means and is available very cheap.

My guy you're right about Natural Gas being the future, but it is not going to be as a by-product or product of coal. Majority of the people pushing for Natural gas are doing so because its technology emmits less CO/CO2 in comparison to Coal gasification technology that emmits 50% more CO/CO2. Because of the problematic expectation of CO and CO2, i doubt if coal gasification project will ever take off. The demand for the off ground Natural Gas on the other hand will outpace the supply going forward. This is the reason why the south will continue its relevancy when compared to the north.

Fischer-Tropsche technology is very expensive and the North has been incapable of running an existing petroleum refinery so I wonder where they will secure resources to build a coal refinery.

His mendacity knows no limits - does ALL COAL come with gas? Or do you think you are talking with illiterates? There is more proven coal in the south than in the North and you are talking out of your rear end. There is no significant gas discovery, either with coal or free standing in the North. And without Southern oil revenue, there can be no further exploration.

Reading all these comments, I see 2 groups:

Group 1 seems to feel that our power supply problem is created by the existence of greed, politics and lack of will power. This group feels that once the politics part is eradicated, it will be a matter of discovering an individual that understands success and has what it takes to be successful to bring Nigeria out of darkness.
Group 2 focuses more on the political problems that are preventing us from coming out of the darkness.

Personally, I think both groups are saying the samething we have been saying for many years.
My question is: what should we do to stabilize power supply in this country. I will appreciate a real answer this time and not just wasting time tell us about all the problems surrounding power supply. I think we've heard enough of it.
