I think the question people should be asking is “what is the details of this blood donation that led to non availability of blood in the blood bank of a general hospital as big as General Hospital Lagos Island “?

At least so we know in order to confirm where we stand in case any of us find ourselves in such unfortunate position in the future .

From what was explained to me when my wife needed blood, they dont accept blood donation again for emergencies without the blood being processed and certified for use before giving the patient. The doctor said there were alot of blood transfusions death which causes the Lagos state govt to review the policy.

I don't know how true it is.

I'm sure the hospital has her details which includes her blood type, it's easy to get blood from blood bank if the hospital actually knows what they are doing.

During my wife child birth and we needed blood, I paid for 2 pint of blood and we got the blood in 30mins (The hospital also didnt have blood in their blood bank).

It just show how badly that hospital is being run. It might even be that they've sold all the blood in their blood bank without replacing them.

General hospital are meant to have blood bank or they can always communicate with other general hospitals for blood or other certified blood bank.

They knew the crash happened, the knew she has lost blood but none made move to get her blood for the 1hr that she was stuck?

The talks about how badly run the hospital was. This is one of their colleagues oo. I shudder to think how they run their emergencies.

This is emergency for one of their own. This unfortunate incident happened inside the hospital, not outside of it. These people knows what she'll need if she makes it out of the crashed elevator and for 1hr that she was stuck nothing was done.

It speaks to how poorly run the hospital was and how non chalfant are colleagues were.

If sanwo is serious, they will start the investigation with a suspension of the CMD, the hospital chief engineer and some other senior officials

It could be the engineering team who have been eating money meant for servicing and maintenance of the lift

It could also be the ogas at the top refusing to provide money for maintaining the lift

And it could be a mix of all. There is also a general belief that engineers are eating money and so the finance or management guys refuse to release money for critical repairs. We also have the scenarios where someone in management has a friend who can get it done for a fraction of the cost.

I remember one time when this ediat cfo called one electrician to do quote for a job in our terminal. It is a delicate balancing act because if you comot hand and there is now an incident, the same management will still come after you.

For the sake of those who are not liable, I hope they have their mail trail.

The CMD is the first person to go. He should've been fired already sef but he will most likely be a senior doctor so another wahala.

For 1hr before they were able to bring out of the elevator, none of her colleagues in the hospital even thought getting emergency aids on the ground available for when she's brought out. Every single one of them should be ashamed.
