obainojazz: My point exactly… we are not there yet to be banning rice importation.
It’s just like telling a sick person not to see a doctor yet and instead wait for his sibling in med school to graduate and treat him.
Our decision makers are not bright I agree, the issue was not the policy itself, it was the timing of when it was done. I actually thought the import duties on rice will be reviewed downward to alleviate the current price surge amidst surge in demand. |

liveLongNprospa: You are a fool I'm sorry.. Because your policy on growing our own food seems to be the reason you totally ban importation.
Now the food growth has shown to be useless because people are having to spend more on buying home grown.
What was the necessity for it? Did Nigerians ever cry to the government that we importing food affected our daily lives?
When you refuse to bring your conversations to the reality of the everyday Nigerian, you think yourself a smart person..
I've told you.. Each time you talk here= value lost Your problem is that you are incapable of any critical thinking. Go back and read my post slowly or get someone who's at least smarter than you to read it to you loudly, maybe just maybe it will sink it. I am only responsible for what I post, I am not responsible for how you interpret it. |

sod09: My point is Ambode started it and will surely be one of his leading project which he would have finished Same with agric ikorodu road but sanwo olu is having as carry over and no one will blame him if he touch those projects last because he surely have his own projects too Next year ain't sure for completion then Sanwo-Olu has actually continued almost all of Ambode project, the mill is almost ready, would be surprised if operations doesn't start next year. |

liveLongNprospa: Why must rice production in Nigeria be a determinant for total ban of rice importation..
So you go extreme to protect a policy and then still further throw the nation into chaos.
The borrowers program introduced through cbn can be classified as a failure.. The production still can't feed us..
Now we have food crisis looming to make it all fvckin worse. It's not my fault if you cant read and comprehend words written clearly. Serious people are having conversation, when it's time to troll we will leave the floor for you. Now bounce. |

sod09: When exactly? Also do you think if Ambode is still in power this rice will still be in existence Ambode was the one that started the project and Sanwo-Olu has almost completed it. It's important to remember that Sanwo-Olu was sworn in 2019 and we lost the whole 2020 to Covid. Operation will most likely start next year as the mill is almost completed. |

And it's important to note that our energy needs are way higher than theirs. Infact we currently generate more energy than our neighbors, it just isn't enough for us as a nation. (This is not absolving successive govt of their inability to fix the power sector). |

The so called local rice is even 40k per bag n their are rumours that they mixed them up,rebags and sell them as foreign
Groundnut or Red oil nko ?
I can understand if people wants BAT in maybe for fear of d unknown but supporting this Buhari led administration shows wickedness Like I said in my reply to obiano, the price of rice is currently soaring because of Arbitrage. People are mopping up all the available rice and reselling it at huge profits. |

sod09: If you are in Lagos you must have heard of lake rice We were managing it but then the demand is higher than supply and some assholes will buy all to resell All of a sudden the rice died a painful death till date we didn't know what happened
https://guardian.ng/features/why-lake-rice-disappeared-from-lagos/ Lake rice will return when the Imota Mill starts operation. Lake rice is a partnership between the Lagos State govt and Kebbi State govt. When the Imota mill starts operation, Kebbi State will produce the rice paddy while Lagos will process it. |

obainojazz: I gave up myself…. Food that should be the cheapest thing, government use bad policies kill am While I agree that people should be able to buy and eat whatever they want as long as they can afford it, theres nothing wrong with a protectionist policy if done at the right time. The problem was that the ban on imported rice should've been gradual. Though the ban has helped farmer greatly and has greatly improved our local production but it's still not yet enough to feed the whole population. Without the ban, the local farmers and investors cant compete with Thai rice because it's cheaper to import it than to produce here so the govt made a decision to protect local farmers from going out of business. The main reason why price of rice is currently soaring is basically because of Arbitrage. |

I know say Tinubu pass am politically, but its the same reasons that would affect PYO, that is affecting him
The same people that would have voted APC would still vote APC Theres a reason why GEJ lost in 2015 and that's partly because his party members in areas that he should have won gave no fúck about him even though he was the incumbent and share arms money as campaign funds. It's the same reason why PYO a sitting Vice President came 3rd in the party primaries. He has no political clout. |

Who nor like to chop from there after e Don Labour to rise through the ranks.
But there's still hope because in the end, the officers still respect their chain of command if those senior officers will just agree to move around instead of sitting in ABUJA The Ogas dont need to move around, they just need to treat their personnel better. Theres a police barrack facing a naval barrack in Ojo, it's a complete opposite of each other and shows how the police Ogas are treating their staffs. |

Nobody said a thing If you deep it further, it is the reason why the police force especially have no regards for their top echelon. They know the kind of corruption those guys engage in while leaving them to their own fate that they (junior office) just do whatever they want. Emmynator: Thanks. I am committed to reading all the manifestos, it's important to me because if one can't get the best hands to come up with a good manifesto, how can you be trusted to get the best hands to solve myriad of Nigeria's problems? Manifesto is one thing, having the political will power to actually implement the manifesto is another thing entirely. So it should mean, How are you going to implement your manifesto. |

When has the police force actually used the actual amount allocated to them? True. The Ogas at the top must be accountable on how they are utilizing the funds released to them. |

izzou: He did not say he was closing any agency. He said he was adding more. So how can we really fund that?
If the military cannot be equiped for any other thing, while not increase the strength of the police and the others, then use them for other duties?
We have local vigilates. Absorb them into the Police force and post them as forest guards.
My opinion though Well he did mention that the police will be barred from providing VIP services to celebrities and the likes and they will be stopped from guiding infrastructure, that role will be transferred to the NSCDC. He also talked about repositioning the NSCDC. When you free up the numbers of our police force doing "boy boy" to celebrities and stars and reposition them back to their core mandate of protecting lives and properties, the better for us. |

izzou: I haven't read through all the 80 pages, but I'm glad he saved me the stress of looking for Security.
My question is almost the same with what i was going to ask Donjazet, if he had grown some balls and risen above cowardice
Why are we creating more agencies, instead of strengthening the one we have?
BAT talked about having an Anti Terroism Batallion, CIP, Forest guards ... and still increase the personnel of the police and military. Where do we intend to get these funds from?
We already have enough security agencies. More than enough if you ask me. What we need is for them to be strengthened. Security of life and properties must be crucial to any administration. The Anti-Terrosim battalion is still going to be drawn from the Armed Forces just like RRS unit was created from the same police force. Those new units will be well equipped and trained on their specified assignments. I have no issue with the welfare of our security personnel being improved on, what they need to do is to make sure that the Ogas at the top are not the one sitting on the money and chopping it. Where the money will come from, I seriously do not know. |
