I won't be surprised if we are still banned for pitch invasion and violence, Senegalese fans suppose follow us chop too.....despite using laser which of course was started by Egyptian fans in Cairo....they invaded the pitch too, threw stuffs at Egyptian players and staffs while they were close to hurting salah..not sure we did all that to Ghanaians...
We deserve to be banned for pitch invasion and the mayhem that followed after that match. It was senseless.

None of anything you've said here makes sense or matches up to history.

If you listen to the man himself speak, there were only 10 northern civil servants in the North when he joined. With Igbo people taking the other roles on merit. So which retaliatory action was he taking? Amadu Bello himself was so concerned about how poorly qualified his people where that the man was actually campaigning and working against independence at the time

Secondly, The Federal Government predates independence by at least 6 years. Amadu Bello also made sure that federal government jobs in the North only went to Northerners. He's the one that brought Shari'a law to Nigerian constitution. He literally had such little interest in running a federated nation that despite being the head of the NPC in 1960, the biggest party in parliament at the time, he sent his number 2, Tafawa Balewa to be Prime Minister, whilst he remained the Premier of the Northern region.

So please don't tell me other regions were doing the same, when it's clear that Northerners weren't even equipped to compete in their own region.
Sorry to say bro but you are capping heavily. 100%.

Sharia Law was introduced into the country by the Governor of Zamfara state in Oct 27 1999 by Ahmed Sani Yerima and 11 other Muslim populated states followed suit.

Yes, the man said there was 10 Northerners in the “NORTHERN REGION CIVIL SERVICE” when he joined and a promulgated a policy which is “Northern First” in filling of key position in the Northern Civil Service. He clearly said where they can’t get competent northerners to fill any post, they will hire other Nigerians or expatriate on a contract basis. The main goal is the capacity building of his people. It is not tribalism. It is putting your people first.

You see if you read your second paragraph again and part of your third paragraph, you will see you are practically supporting what I’m saying. The country was running a regional system of government and the man was firmly prioritizing his people in his region and you are trying to blame him for it today. Nowhere in his speech did he mention the “Federal Civil Service”. He was clear in that interview that he was talking about the Northern Civil Service.

Unless you can bring evidence that the West and East were bringing people from other position to fill key post in their region, you have no case against of tribalism against Ahmadu Bello. That he even decided to remain the Northern Region Premier instead of being the Prime Minister after independence should tell you everything you need to know about the man.

I think u APC/BMC people have been specially trained to throw a few words here and there, make some submissions that look reasonable on the surface but when examined critically falls on its face.

1. I was asking why Nigeria has a 60,000 capacity stadium and it's not put In good shape which is a legitimate question to ask seeing the state of the pitch is one of the factors the players couldn't be at their best. Ask urself why did the pitch go bad in the first place? Is it not due to lack of proper maintenance?

You are busy telling me super story of how the minister for sports was shamelessly going about begging corporate entities to help put a face lit to government owned sporting facilities.smh

So it's pontification is asking the right question in the face of clear mismanagement?

2. So because FIFA approved a stadium due to the facilities there, our football administrators should not be reasonable enough to enusre the grass are levelled enough to aid the ball moving well on the pitch? Is it FIFA that will help them mow the grass to an equally even level after the grass was laid? Like we didn't watch Senegal vs Egypt and saw how the ball was moving smoothly on the pitch right?

I know u APC supporters would rather die than agree things are not being well managed in this country during this Buhari Era, but some us cannot help ourselves but say things how we see them.
Like I said before, stop pontificating on what you know nothing about. There’s no crime in actually sitting down and learning if you don’t know you are talking about.

You are asking why we have a stadium of 60k capacity and it’s not put to good shape which in itself is a lie because the stadium was renovated way before the World Cup qualifier was announced in January this year. It therefore makes no sense to type that they left it so late to renovate the stadium when information about how the stadium was renovated is in public domain.

This was your post I quoted:

BlueRayDick:
I think Nigeria is cursed ! How do we have a 60,000 capacity stadium and we don’t take care of it ?

This fixture has been announced since God knows when , instead make dem renovate since and put everything in order dem wait till dying minutes. I believe some bureaucratic bottlenecks would’ve led to this fire brigade approach ; now see where it has landed us .
My response to your post was very clear.

Every policy will come with its cons and pros and it must be considered very well before implemented.

ibi.me made mention of something then, can you trust these current crop of Governors with the absolute power of police? Knowing that these same Governors are owing salaries of their work force, what do you think will happen when they now added the police to their payroll?

Where will state police funding comes from?

I want to come direct at you now.....in your church mind,do you think Tinubu is capable of ruling Nigeria health-wise,mental and ability wise with the rot we are in now....Baba,talk true....even that atiku that has been contesting elections since when I was not born sef....

I watched your party convention,na so so consensus and hand-picking candidates from godfathers...Then we vote OLUSOLA DESMOND ELLIOT(ODE) who we think he is one of the "good guys"and he is commissioning toilet and pako bridge, wtf!!!! Do you think I will still be motivated to vote....on a norms,na person like Desmond dey do that kain thing

Just to prove to Tinubu and oshomOLE that Edo no be Lagos,my people came out en-masse,defended their vote for that ugly baffoon called obaseki, the guy has been a failure ever since and not paying back the sacrifice people made....

Pls who are the reasonable people,if not the endless people who have been in power like forever, their aides, consensus candidates and godchildren who are willing to do their bidding...the bad system created by the leaders has swallowed the good guys who have vision for nigeria
1. Do I believe Tinubu will make a good President? Yes

2. Why? Because personally I feel a President needs to surround himself with competent people who can translate his vision into solid framework and implement it for the better for all. This I believe is Tinubu biggest strength, he’s a finder and builder of competent hands to put in position of authority. One of the major issue I have with Buhari is his lackadaisical attitude towards his appointees (Ministers and the likes).

3. Consensus is a valid means of electing leaders in internal party politics, even the electoral act make this very clear. But me personally I am against Consensus because I believe everyone should be allowed to test their popularity and canvass for the vote of fellow party members but the Governors in their usual ways hijacked everything to themselves. I know how much I stayed it during ward meetings that consensus will never bring the best among us to stand for election but those favored by the Governors/Elders of the parties who hold the structure.

4. I always believe everyone should be able to make their political choice and live with it. It makes no sense to spite your nose because of your mouth. Will Ize-iyamu be a better Governor than Obaseki? No one knows, most times we only use power of hindsight to judge which no one has when they are making these decisions.

5. If you want to change the system, you have to get into it and change it from within. You cannot change the system from outside. If you join a political party today, you will find that there are a lot of people who share your vision for a better country who just haven’t been able to get into leadership position, that’s why we must leverage our youth population to push the best of us into these positions and see if things will change.

I am a firm believer that Nigeria is still salvageable, it’s just going to require so much work with everyone putting their hands on deck to do.

Is it possible? Yes.

Will it happen? No one knows.

Nowhere in my post did I say Ironsi abolishing regionalism was what led to the collapse of Nigeria. You do not need to infer what is not there.

The context of that discussion was about how Ahmadu Bello was the one practicing tribalism and I pointed out that we were running a regional government then with which premier or leader of the region running a policy of “Our region” first.

Whether we will have progressed more than this if we are still running a regional system of government can only be based on assumptions and we will never know because Aguiyi Ironsi abolished the region and instituted a Unitary system of government.

Oga, there are too many contradictions in this post! The foreign countries you are speaking of made conscious efforts in ensuring their system/ institutions are functional and give people a fair shot. We must stop making these excuses and comparisons like Nigeria has made the same level of effort in truth to secure their nation.

Mostly out of frustration, poverty and evil caused by who? Nigeria is not worse than Britain and US but there is a stark difference in our realities. Do you think Nigerians who immigrate to Britain/ US maintain the same mentality they have in Nigeria? Absolutely not! You can’t bring those predatory behaviors because everyone has to play by the rules unlike naija where there is always a way.. This is immigrants progress. Of the system/ institutions were porous and as vulnerable, Nigerians will manipulate the system.
We like to deceive ourselves a lot.

Those that will refuse to queue properly when in Nigeria and want to do shortcut will go out of the country and behave themselves.

While I do agree that the government needs to make examples of a lot of people to serve as deterrence but why must the government always have tell us to behave like normal people before we do?

I have come to a conclusion that the mentality now is “This country is useless, I can do whatever I want and get away with it” not knowing that we just keep making the rot go deeper.

Alot of people have given up in this country. Telling them to be involve in politics is a waste of time.
Come 2023, I bet you alot of us especially from the South will either be playing football or indoors doing nothing when it's election time..

Maybe we need to tell people elections are not won online.

Maybe we need to tell people to still come out and vote even though alot of us believe our vote doesn't count..

I don't know, but I think something is wrong with this country.
Well if people don’t come out and vote, then they have given their power to chose their leader into the hand of someone else who might not vote for who they want to.

Voters education is important. If vote doesn’t count, politicians won’t be trying to buy votes during election.

The truth is that no one person will wave a magic wand and everything will fall into place immediately but things can change if we elect reasonable people across board continuously. We can begin to see changes. Government is continuum, we must have a plan on the kind of leaders we want, what we expect from them and hold them accountable.

Votes do count and in 2023, we will have chance to elect those that will pilot the affairs of the country for another 4 years. Both for states and FG.

Starting from House of assembly members, house of reps, senators, governors and President, we must be intentional about who we vote for.

I think you are conflating two issues together.

That we excel in our chosen fields outside the country doesn’t equate to doing evil.

Have you tried to go collect transcript in a State/FG university and see the stress and trouble those secretary will give you? Are they also our leaders? Are they not some people mothers, aunt, uncles, fathers and the likes?

We are just inherently wicked irrespective of the fact whether we are brilliant in our chosen career or not.

Abba Kyari was celebrated as a super cop (brilliant in his career chosen) until his atrocities was revealed to the whole world.

While I do agree that sometimes the system does affect the way we turn out but I feel it’s a lazy excuse to use. Even with the current situation in the country, there are still people that do the right thing at the right time.

It's just so sad.
This is why people must join fully and participate in politics. If these old guards retire, some will take over from them, well meaning Nigerians must position themselves to take power from them.

But then when I look at the kind of politics some of our youths are playing, I only shake my head. Even among APC that I belong to, it always seems like a drowning voice in a thick wilderness.

We cannot claim to want change and still want to do things the old way except maybe we are deceiving ourselves.

I don't think the leaders are to be blamed entirely, instead alot of us need to change our mentality.
The blame goes both way. Leaders and the followers even though the leaders share the highest part of the blame.

They are the one that’s meant to wipe everyone into line, build strong institutions to ensure that people do the right things and a deterrence put in place to punish offenders.

The problem now is that the rot is so deep that even those that will run the “strong institutions” have been corrupted badly.

Yes ZIK was a bastard actually, but the Brits were the ones that actually refused to entertain any idea of splitting the north from the south at independence, despite knowing fully well how far behind they were.

Federal Government started in 1954, 6 years before independence, and Amadu Bello knowing his constituents couldn't compete on merit for Federal jobs with Southerners instituted 'North First' policy for any federal roles based in the north, where if they don't find any educated northerner for the role, they would hire a white person, before they consider giving the job to a southerner.

The man even gave an interview to an incredulous BBC reporter detailing his policy with pride

That's who the British lumbered us with.

I will look on youtube and see if I can find it.
During that period we were running a REGIONAL government.

West - North - East before the Middle Belt was created in 1963.

Everyone region during that period was running a “My People” policy.

Awolowo/Akintola policy was a Western policy that favor the west, same with the Eastern and Northern bloc. It makes no sense to be blaming Ahmadu Bello for prioritizing the people of his region like the way the others were doing.

Let’s talk about Gen Ironsi who destroyed the regions and declared a unitary government.
