It’s not like Lagos did anything special to even make those multinationals do business in Lagos , rather it’s cos Lagos is the commercial nerve centre and it’s status as the commercial capital of Nigeria and most top companies have their base majorly here in Lagos.

It’s not as if people laid plans that opened up the state to investors. It’s not as if some people reclaim land from bar beach, open up Lekki, developed it, created a free trade zone there.

In few years when Epe and Ikorodu is fully developed, that’s how we will hear it just happen and they did nothing.

I agree its nothing special, maybe the other states and FG should at least do half of it and make their states economic viable.

Till today, the Lagos state secretariat is not connected to the National grid. LASU is also not connected to the National grid and some other state agencies and infrastructure. They are all powered with IPP.

Ojukwu ran for President in 2003 and lost in all the SE states.

Ojukwu ran again for President in 2007 and lost in all the SE states again gathering 155k votes in total.

Anybody who think the SE will dump PDP for a political paper bag will Obi is jonzing.

Lagos state is the biggest city in the whole Africa. It's bound to generate a lot of money. Partly by being the capital of Nigeria (biggest African country) for 100 years. Tinubu just created soo much avenue to siphon money for himself. No Lagos governor has ever failed because the state is simply too big to fail economically. But when you look at their public infrastructure, you see the failure of his policies.

Maybe if Peter Obi developed Anambra, Lagos infrastructure won’t be overstretched with every Tom and Jon carrying their bags and heading to Lagos in search of greener pasture.

And Naija problem is still 100 times bigger than him because he can never have a solution to insecurity and a mono economy

When you tell some people that Tinubu met Lagos IGR at less than 15bn naira in 1999, they will think I’m capping. Before leaving in 2007, Tinubu had increased the IGR to 83bn. Today Lagos IGR is over 400bn. (The state should even be making money than this if the unaccounted taxes from NURTW and those council guys are going to the right coffers) over 38% of Lagos IGR comes from PAYE.

It was the LIRS method that the FIRS now copied at the federal level to implement.

Or should we talk about the Lekki free trade zone?

Tinubu and Lagos APC are far from perfect (I believe they are even too relaxed currently as the political machinery is well oiled) but they are light years ahead of other states in the country.

I have always believed individuals make up party, for example look at the new health bill that Buhari assented to last week. The bill was drafted by Senator Oloriegbe who defeated Saraki in Kwara Central senate election. The bill seeks to provide universe healthcare to all the citizens and expand the scope of the present NHIS. It’s going to be a game changer for the health industry.

Also in the constitution amended currently ongoing, the National Assembly has removed power and railways from the executive list to the concurrent list. It basically means when each state house of assembly assent to it and it takes effect, each state will be able to generate their own electricity to power their respective states instead of sending it to the national grid. It also means each states can run their own railway corporations and all that. As these amendment comes into effect, we will begin to see more institutional and foundational changes. It’s ideal that those that vote for both at the federal and state levels are visionaries and are ready to implement these ideas.

Nigeria is not hopeless.

Tinubu did not buy himself into a major party. Tinubu could’ve followed the AD Governors to have that deal with OBJ in 2003 that swept away all of them and replaced them with PDP Governors except for Tinubu who left AC.

Tinubu built his party from AC and spread to other part of SW before gaining Edo with Oshiomole. During the merger in 2014 Tinubu ACN had 5 Governors to CPC 1, APGA 1 before the NPDP guys came.

None of them have the patience it takes to build a political party.

This is written like who assumes majority of people in States like Jigawa, Kebbi, Gombe etc actually have access to Twitter, nairaland etc and form their political opinions from those platforms .

I can bet u that if a state like Zamfara has 3 million eligible voters , less than 30% of them are on any of the aforementioned platforms reading political debates and arguments to shape their electoral decisions . Some local governments do not even have electricity even here in the southwest . You need to go to places like Ijebu waterside in Ogun state , go to some innermost part of Oyo state ( I’m sure almost all states have places like this) …/ You will understand that not having a political structure built and nurtured over time will continue to cost people like obi and other third force advocates.

When one of the Northern governor was saying Tinubu sponsored him in the days of ACN and this is the time to repay him back. ACN days will be around 2011 (11yrs ago)

Same thing with Delta ACN. Tinubu gave the party to Ovie Omo Agege and one other man like that. These guys still control the structure of APC delta till date.

In the new electoral act, the National Assembly excluded themselves and all statutory delegates from voting in the primaries. Buhari asked them to amend that section when he returned the bill to them but they didn’t. They wanted to stop political appointees from voting as delegates and in the process they disenfranchised themselves.

They noticed the calamity last week and quickly amended the act and sent it back to Buhari to assent. Baba has refused to assent it.

Everybody else will drop out at $1k to $3k, then the small boys will drop like $500 to mark register. Udom suppose hit $3k before realising his chances are slim.

If Kwankwaso still dey, he would be sure to hit $3k like last time

Delegates go collect like $30k total.

Saraki has a chance cos he's got friends among the main power players in most states and they instruct their delegates how to vote regardless of the egunje on offer. Saraki has no enemies in PDP while Wike has plenty, but the states Wike wins, he will collect all the delegates, while Saraki will collect a portion from every state except Rivers, Katsina and AkwaIbom. Atiku is lazy but has money to buy the whole ticket. Saraki is actually politicking well, collecting small favour from almost every state and big numbers from Kano. Also Saraki is used to working with the whole country as former speaker.

I still favour Atiku slightly but Wike and Saraki have a very good chance. As the night progress sha, the winner will be clear.

Saraki cannot play in the same range like Atiku or Wike. He won’t waste his money.

Personally, I believe PDP ticket is Atiku to lose except all the other aspirant join hands together and support one of them else Atiku will flog them all.

I think he was right.

It depends on the state and the political actors there.

For example, in a state like Oyo where APC is the opposition and with no clear political leader since Ajimobi died, the delegates will swing mostly to whoever can offer them the most package.

Compared to a state like Osun with an APC Governor, the delegates from there will mostly be the Governor loyal associates and they will be elected as delegates to do the bidding of the Governor and they will do so because they will need the Governor to further their own ambition also.

Delegate election is a brutal election. If you don’t have the structure, you will lose bigly.

It’s good to be active in politics. Because at the end of the day, it is those the party put out at their primaries that majority of the masses will vote for.

Less than 3k delegates will determine who get APC ticket, same with PDP and either of the party will win the general election. It basically means head or tail, less than 6k people will decide who will be our President next year.

When you get involve in politics, you can bring the change you desire from within no matter how small the contribution might be until you opportunity to serve in large capacity comes.

Most of the states need to invest more in Education at the primary and secondary level. I serve in Ebonyi as at 2017 and I know wetin my eyes see.

Even the Lagos that has a better public school than most states still has a lot of investment to do. Hopefully Sanwo-Olu and whoever comes after him continue the upgrading of these schools both infrastructure and teacher welfare wise.

It’s more easier for the state government to loot the money to invest in education because everyone will blame the FG.

Primary and secondary education falls under the preview of LG/SG. Even that the FG still has UBEC (Universal Basic Education Commission) that assist state in that regard.

But most of the state won’t pay the counterpart funding to access the fund.
