I specifically watched the movement of our players yesterday when Liverpool had the ball at the back or passed backed to their centre backs and all I saw was players retreating back instead of pressing, some players didn't even try to go back the halfway line, it isn't a coincidence, I think they were following strict orders from the coach...

That is when Liverpool had the ball, but what happens when we had the ball? What did they do with it? It seems you re forgetting that Man Utd even under SAF don't most times do high pressing, if you were expecting us to do high pressing against Pool side with willing sprinters, good luck ooo.

Best is we should all move on cos this won't yield anything positive. Criticizing JM for his frequent bus parking does not make a fan any less loyal and does not mean we want him sacked, even Fergie was criticized on this forum and he has a statue and a stand at Old Trafford.

He has to devise other ways to gain points away from home because this system he is using now leaves too little a margin for error and will backfire sometime, maybe soon.

Everyone want the team to succeed, but there's no system that can't backfire anytime or soon, Mou has a tried and tested system, I will rather he stick to it as long as it bring us success.

Me and you know that playing Darmain at CB is risky business, scratch that playing him at all is risky. Mou used the 4231 to contain and hit them on the counter but Our midfield just collapse like the wall of jericho and you can't blame them really 3 midfield against 2 with Cutinho dropping deep to support and collect the ball. The question then is what did our own players did with the ball when they get it, you can't tell me that Mou instruct them to waste the ball anytime they get it. We played with 1 man down till Miki went off and Klopp maintained his superior midfield by continuing with the 3 men in the middle of the park.

Young was poor on the right and Mou didn't notice it...I'd have preferred to see Miki taken off for Mata and Rashford replacing Young just to give a chance on the counter...

Is that not the same personnel that Mou deployed, you can all bash Mou but neglect Miki that made it possible we played with 1 man down.

The game was won in the midfield. How will Martial, Lukaku and Rashford didn't get to see anything because we didn't have a midfield.

SAF did this, SAF did that, he did it with average Joe, he didn't spend much bla bla bla. Who are the managers that SAF had to contend with? Mou came to the league and won it back to back with SAF still there, Even Wenger had his share of league win titles, Mark fúcking hughes once coached City, Ancelotti came to the league and won it while SAF was there, even Mancini. Using different era to compare just to gain some useless cheap point.

Compare the competitiveness during SAF reign to this era.
Liverpool under Benitez, Kenny Daglish, Rodgers and Co
Tottenham under Harry and co

Compare then to now, Chelsea has Conte, City has Pep, Tot has Poch, Liverpool has Kloop, all top coaches in their own right. Even teams like Southampton has coach like Puel, Newcastle has Benitez, Watford has Silva who could be considered good coaches in their own rights also. You can't deny that the competitiveness of the EPL has increased tremendously.

Exactly. Mikki is useless in a bus parking scheme like the one we used ysterday. JM should have gone with 3 CM and 2 pacy guys to flank Lukaku, that way we would have viable avenues for counter attacks.

Nobody is against the OCCASIONAL defensive scheme, the problem is when you do it to such an extreme that we have no avenue to hit counter attacks and our attack looks toothless AND when you do it almost every time we face a good team. Bus parking can't be the only way to get 1 point away from home against good teams.

Where will the 3CM come from? It's like you guys were forgetting that we had no other establish CM on the bench. The others were out injured.

Away matches are always dicey and you have to be pragmatic in your approach. I have no problem with Mou parking the bus away from home to gain a point as long as he doesn't do that at OT.

Go back to those post you quoted and see when they were made. It wasn't immediately after Soton match. It was after Mevlyn1 watch highlight of City match and he came to masturbate on the thread, the statement was directed at him particularly. It was when others starts attacking me that all those one start chiping in. I repeat, no one is attacking anyone to go support any other team when you criticise the team because at the end of the day, we all want the best for our team. So if you want to state your opinion or criticise the team, do so and stop making it seems like anyone is attacking you for criticising the team.

Everyone lamented on here after the Soton match and I was the only one that told Mevlyn1 to go support City if he's so engrossed with them (a day after or 2 after our match) and it's not even related to our match against Soton, so I don't get the "if I criticise the team, I will be told to go support Man city".

We need to start setting the record straight.

He worked hard but he was a bit overzealous in his closing down thereby getting beaten easil and also he appeared quite clueless most times he had the ball. However he and Matic had an uphill task considering the tactics and considering the fact that they had invisible man Mikki with them.

These boys obviously practiced only defense all week long because NOBODY had any clue to do with the ball when we won it. There was no plan for attack, no plan for counter attack. The few opportunities we had to initiate quick counter attacks were spoilt by our guys wasting time on the ball until they were under pressure from the Liverpool press then passing the ball back to DDG.

I was very frustrated with Herrera looking clueless on the ball, always in an hurry to release the ball back to either smalling or De gea, it's really annoying considering the fact that fans has been chanting Herrera name to start over Afroman. He didn't do anything to warrant starting Fellaini really, Fellaini also plays with the invisible Miki.

Miki really need to sit his fat ass on the bench. that guy has been unbelievably horrible.

We were saved by a combo of bad finishing and super goalkeeping. The tactics mainly helped in crippling our attack and giving us only one decent chance, luckily Liv squandered their plethora of chances.

The issue is not even whether the tactics worked or not, the problem is why does JM season after season deploy bus parking tactics against this mediocre Liverpool side? This side with part time defenders who were made to feel like Baresi and Maldini today.
We didn't gain 1 point today, rather we lost 2.

The thing weak me no be small. The tactics was dead on arrival, coupled with terrible players, it's an eyesore. This is 2pt lost.

I wonder why those who attacked people who complained bitterly about the match against So'ton are complaining about this game. The So'ton match was actually worse. We defended better against Liverpool and although we lost possession stup.idly sometimes, it wasn't as bad as the other game.

If we had Fellaini, maybe, just maybe, we would've won. He's better at aerial balls than Lukaku- which obviously was our major game plan today. Lukaku didn't do well, despite being isolated up front. He lost a majority of aerial duels with Liverpool's central defence pairings. With his build and height, I wonder why he didn't ride those guys like a horse.

Hopefully, this mentality of defending when playing away against top teams and trying to win the rest of the matches will win us the league.
