priceaction: I don't know how many of you reason just because you hate her. The one we got before, who has it helped? If not for the obj era that helped in clearing the accumulated ones, you think dollars to naira wouldn't have been up to 1:500? What was dollar to naira rates before shagari era(though I don't expect you to know this as a kid). That was how many troubles befell Nigeria after loan upon loan.
Even with that, after obj left , we are back to it again, yet you and me keep feeling it. Either you like it or not, we will survive this. China loan is better because this is not cash loan. It is like trade by barter. You develop our infrastructures, and it is monetized and we do natural resources swap with you. Let us try something different in this country and we will see different results.
Go and read what Greece and some other countries under IMF are facing now with their small populations. Many kids these days that refuse to do research and follow latest news but only interested in insults just for small portion of ekiti free rice.
We don't need so called loan
Don't mind them. When Nigeria has problems during Jonathan administration, we ran to them for help. Instead of helping us, they stopped buying our oil to worsen our problems. Here we are today. They understand Africa well because any money they loan to us will be looted back to them. Their people will take contracts from us and mismanage the money and send it back to them. We don't have the system and the technology to monitor how it is been used. They know the implications of trading with China as a partner being a populous country. It came to them as a shock. They are confused already because many African countries will follow us in due time if the results are promising. They will lose hold of african in returns. That's why they are using all means to block it. Even Ben bruse indirectly support it when he twitted that loan is better if it is used for infrastructural development and monetize it. It will open business up every where. But here we are today, children that are yet to pass jamb will be spewing trash every where just because of regional hatred they have created for them selves. God bless u sir. |

DanjaNinja: Ha!...My bad, i 4got to mention copying the title by hand na long thing o! I simply copied from the webpage (CTRL+C) and pasted into Microsoft word. It took me a few hours - less than 3 hours to sort it all. I would have sent you my copy but my hard disk drive crashed.
Secondly, As you copy and paste, you'll discover that there are basically 10-15 topic themes. Therefore, you don't have to draw up responses to every essay topic. Your job is to identify the 10-15 themes and create possible responses to those.
For example, you will find the following topics on the GRE topic pool:
#1 "Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study."
#2 Educational institutions should actively encourage their students to choose fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers.
#3 Some people believe that college students should consider only their own talents and interests when choosing a field of study. Others believe that college students should base their choice of a field of study on the availability of jobs in that field
#4 College students should base their choice of a field of study on the availability of jobs in that field.
#5 A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
#6 A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
#7 A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
A keen observer would discover that the first four topics are the same topics written in different wordings. While the last three are just plain repetitions. Its that simple.
Additionally, the essay topic are selected "WORD FOR WORD" from the essay topic pool as listed from the GRE website. Whoever told you that the test question is not from that list, simply lied to you.
Additionally, my initial post on this thread was just a recommendation based on my personal experience. You don't have to follow my instructions by the letter. Figure out what works for you and work with that. excellent |

Politics › Re: 2016 Budget: A Budget Of Change Or A Budget Of Burden? by Larriekay: 7:26am On Dec 23, 2015 |
Bevista: So much partisanship in the comments, with very little intellectual input. --- Nigeria is on the brink of a recession. During times like this, it is standard economic practice to STIMULATE the economy through expansionary fiscal/monetary policies. Any attempt to do the contrary will lead to what is called the AUSTERITY TRAP - i.e. cutting spending during recessions simply deepen the recession. It is standard fiscal policy for deficit to increase during recessions.
So much concerns has been raised - rightly so - about the benchmark oil price used in the budget. But a look at the proposed N6.08tn budget puts oil revenue at N820bn out of a total revenue expectation of N3.8tn. This means that oil revenue is expected to account for only 22% of total revenue and 14% of total budget. A further drop in oil price by 20% will only have a 5% & 3% impact on revenue and total budget respectively. Of course, this is a simplistic analysis, as the FX shortfall from lower oil prices may have other consequences. --- In summary, what Nigeria needs right now is STIMULUS - which is exactly what the budget seeks to achieve (as long as the funds don't go the Dasuki way). The Oil price is fair at the moment; the government might adjust its MTEF if the realities change - the budget is not sacrosanct or cast-in-stone. |

arresa: 1. We are too far down the hole and the only way out is to increase spending in critical areas to get more Nigerians working and generate needed steam in our economy.
2. In struggling economies all over the world, it's either they you introduce severe austerity and massive lay offs or increased infrastructure spending to stimulate the economy via job creation..
3. Austerity can not help us today because we are too battered and depleted to the bone
4. Lay offs spells the same doom for our already bad economic and employment situation.
5. There's no reason to stay down when you are down, else you remain down, it's either you spend big to get up or close up shop for good.
6. Our past budgets are mostly government salary and maintenance budgets still subject to looting and stealing with zero reference to infrastructures and Nigerians beyond the seat of power.
7. Today's budget addressed our poor economy = Improved Economy means improved government revenue
8. It addressed our hopeless unemployment situation = Improved job situation means improved government revenue via taxes
9. It addressed our crumbling infrastructure = Improved infrastructure spending means more construction jobs from unskilled labor to skilled labor like engineers and so on which again means improved government revenue via taxes
10. It addressed our untapped resources and capabilities = improved government revenue and national exports
11. When it's time to stimulate the economy in America where we copied our democracy from, they borrow money to increase infrastructure spending because it not only pumps money into the economy, it creates jobs and expand the government's tax base.
12. GEJ budgeted less than N50 billion for the most vital and critical sectors namely Works, Power and Housing. What can you buy with N50 billion? What can you build with that kind of money? How many people can you put to work with that kind of money? Even sadly, that little N50 billion was obviously looted since we didn't see anything they did with our money apart from Dasuki's sharing bonanza left and right.
13. Today, there's a clear difference between N50 billion and N433 billion for all 3 major job creating and infrastructure building sectors namely Works, Power and Housing
This budget is the best and the most realistic budget simply because it addressed and acknowledge our present situation.
When Nigeria was under the looting and stealing assault that go us to this precarious situation, we didn't see you and your kind crying over the sad burden they saddled us with,we didn't read any of your daily roadside and uninformed analysis, but all of a sudden, we see deceptive and mentally crooked people like you everyday preaching and crying over nothing. Sadly, your cries and daily gyrations has nothing to do with what's best for Nigeria hence this mindless, thoughtless and upside down thinking basement faculty post.

Politics › Re: Re: See What Is Happening To Nigeria’s Economy Under Buhari by Larriekay: 10:25am On Dec 22, 2015 |
PassingShot: This thread is of course a response to this https://www.nairaland.com/2590889/see-what-happening-nigerias-economy
For us to understand and appreciate what the new government has done or not done for the country, it’s very important to revisit the type of economy it inherited from the last regime as enumerated below:
1. The Nigerian economy operates a budget which is heavily skewed in favour of recurrent expenditure (about 90%) against capital expenses (about 10%) as represented by 2015 budget here http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-signs-n4-425tn-2015-budget/
Implication of this is that there will be no real development in the core areas that sustain and improve economic development.
2. Nigerian economy is largely dependent on crude export. Even the crude price has fallen below the benchmark price ($53 per barrel) on which the 2015 budget was based. Crude now sells at around $47 per barrel.
3. As at April 2015, the Federal Government of Nigeria had borrowed $4.4bn to pay salaries of its workers for March and April 2015. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/article-3070070/Nigeria-borrows-pay-salaries-cash-crunch-worsening.html
4. GEJ met the reserve at $47.7bn in 2010 but still managed to reduce it to $29.6bn despite that crude sold for an average of $100 per barrel (peaked at about $140/barrel). The country’s FR plays a huge role in giving confidence to foreign investors in Nigeria’s economy. The higher the value the higher the confidence in the economy and vice versa. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/article-3070070/Nigeria-borrows-pay-salaries-cash-crunch-worsening.html
I could go on and on but these will suffice for now. Now, let’s see OcheJoseph ‘s points one after the other:
Yes, Nigeria will be delisted from Bond Index of JP Morgan. However, it amounts to crass ignorance for any sane analyst to want to blame the government of the day. JP Morgan started the process of reviewing Nigeria’s continued participation in its bond index in January of this year given the fact that we had depleted our FR to an abysmal level while our currency continued to lose values.
For Nigeria to continue to participate in the BI, the conditions given by JP Morgan are very detrimental to our economy. Nigeria will have to devalue the Naira and possibly will exchange for about N350 to a dollar. This will drive up inflation which means cost of imports and even local goods will go up. Cost of doing business will shoot up and productivity will expectedly drop which will eventually lead to massive retrenchment by the companies.
So, should Nigeria have chosen to remain or accepted to be delisted? I wait for your answer.
What do we expect when the FG as at May 29 had not released a kobo towards capital development? The capital expenditure in the 2015 budget is paltry 10% of about N4.5tn and NOTHING had been released as at the exit of the last govt. So what miracle do we expect?
This is too cheap and very misleading. Job losses are a constant part of any economy and if it’s not as a result of a government’s policy or not on an industry-wide scale, you cannot put the blame on the government. Even in the link you provided, it was clearly stated that the layoff was not for any reason of threat or loss as quoted
“One thing that is clear is that Zenith Bank is not under any threat,” the source, who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity. “With the current crisis in the banking industry in the country, it is incumbent on any bank that wants to growth to bend backwards to re-strategize and restructure its operations to expand and grow.
Is the OP insinuating that there were no job losses during Jonathan’s regime? Or that every job loss was due to his mismanagement of the economy?
At some point during GEJ’s era, the naira exchanged at above N235 to a dollar. That it trades at N220 currently represents an overall gain from N235/N240. The CBN is on a mission to make it difficult if not impossible, for stolen dollars from our reserves to be easily exchanged or transferred abroad. Besides, the fact is that crude price has dropped and our over dependence on imported goods among others have naturally put pressure on the naira.
The headline reads “Nigerian economy slows in Q2” and not “Nigerian Economy Slumps”, Both are not same and don’t mean same thing.
The quarter 2 referred to represents April, May and June of 2015 and GEJ was in charge in April and May. Does it then make any sense to blame a presidency which was in charge of one month out of three months for the slow down in the growth?
Again, the fact is that the economy would have collapsed completely had GEJ managed to win the last election. The economy was already on a downward slide by the time we voted him out. So, for anyone to attempt to put economic woes that we may currently be experiencing on PMB/VPYO smacks of irresponsible partisanship.
What is the news here? Must Nigeria do business with China or any other country for that matter? Nigeria will do business with anyone whose policy and business terms and conditions favour her. This is no rocket science.
The loss is as a result of JP Morgan’s delisting and it was definitely expected following the announcement. The loss is not Nigeria’s loss but investors. When investors have gained in the past, was the gain given or shared with the country?
As I said earlier, CBN/DMO/MOF and Nigeria as a whole has taken the right decision to stand up to JP Morgan’s manipulative tendencies. We cannot because of foreign or even local investors accept conditions that could bring the country to its knees.
If anyone needs to use their brain, it’s you and your co-travellers.
You lots preferred we continue with a failed president/government. You wanted us to continue with a regime that could not manage surplus and bounty harvest in times of scarcity. You wanted us to continue with a government which recognized stealing as the norm. You wanted us to continue with a government of wastes; a government that placed militants above law abiding citizens; a government that couldn’t guarantee security such that a portion of the country was in control of some rag tag terrorists.
Buhari ison a mission to stop the bleeding the economy was going through. He is on a mission to prevent a very bad situation from getting worse. He is on a mission to restore our lost glory, sanity, accountability and pride where STEALING WILL BE SEEN AS CORRUPTION.
May God continue to guide President Buhari & VP Osinbajo aright May Nigerians prosper better under his selfless leadership

Real2020: Yoruba media at it again...to discourage you from buying rice produced in Biazfraland...Rivers, Anambra and Almighty Ebonyi rice. The subtle message is...buy foreign rice. I know people have varying critical thinking skills. Whenever you read an article, ask yourself...where is the writer going with this? What's the goal? To scare people from eating homegrown biazfraland rice.
This will not stop me from buying Anambra homegrown Rice tomorrow. u need ur head ti be checked, I just hope u won't die with yoruba name in ur mouth. |
