tigar007: Nairaland is really blessed. King Larry has been one of my muses either in class or off. His style is quite different from other eminent writers like kayemjay and Princesa. Anytime I lay my hand on something creative, I always remember the nine Muses and King Larry. I'm trying to model my work on Larry's eloquence. Creative Writing is helping in that area. Quite 'sad' you didn't study English and Literature.... Boss, Happy Birthday Wow! I feel so honoured. May God bless the work of your hands, sir. |

Literature › Re: What Will You Do If Your New Book Sells 1 Million Copies? by LarrySun(m): 7:42pm On Jul 08, 2015 |
I think Sir Chinua Achebe (RIP), with his Things Fall Apart, had the greatest achievement in the history of African literature.
The novel was first published in 1968. Now, Achebe died in 2013; if we take out the year the book was published from the year the author died, we'll have 45 years.
To continue the calculation; if we have 12 in a year, then surely we'll have 12*45 in forty-five years. That would give us 540 months!
If the target is a million copies in two months, then we'll have 1'000'000*(540/2).
Mathematically, that is 1'000'000*270 = 270'000'000 copies.
Logically, if Achebe's books has sold over a total of 270'000'000 in 2013. Then Achebe has broken the record.
But I don't know how many copies the book has sold so far. 1 Like |

Rounakid: See mumu question ooo... Then you put more copies into printing... This is why ilike Igbo... They dnt ask dis kinda question... Now what have you gained, sir, from this insult? Kindly apologise to the OP, he'll forgive you. And people like us would appreciate your wise contribution without having to read tribalistic stuff like the above bolded quotation. Thanks. |
Literature › Happy Birthday, OMA4U by LarrySun(op): 7:46pm On Jul 07, 2015 |
Better late than never. It's never too late to celebrate a rare gem.
This was another glorious day a star was born. Because he lives, we can smile at the beauty the world has brought forth.
Thank you, OMA, for agreeing to stay alive when you were conceived. If you had declined the invitation into this world, World War III would have begun, Ebola would have wiped off humanity from the face of the earth, and perhaps, the ozone layer would have given way. Thank you, sir, for being born.
You are the knight on a white horse, You are a slayer of dragons, You are amazing. You're a literary warrior, You shoot them with bullets of syntax, And if your gun jams, You knock them down with its butt. You are the angel Who can dance on the head of a pin, And each time you sneeze, The world jumps through the eye of a needle.
God could not be everywhere, therefore He made you. You've healed me with your brilliant touch. Let the world dance and sing, for another joyful day is now.
Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for being a brother. I love you in more ways than one. And we'll remain together forever.
Happy birthday, OMA4U. An amazing poet, a great novelist and an awesome friend. Many happy returns.
Cheers! 4 Likes |

This is one of those amazingly rare writing styles. If you groomed yourself with it, those who stand before you would line up behind you. I'm still only mildly impressed. I'm waiting for that update that would blow me away. The duckling is gradually transforming into a graceful swan, and I'm revelling in this awesome transformation. Well done, bro. 1 Like 1 Share |

Okay, I think the story is promising. The terrible acts are too gross for my liking though. Which psycho would shatter someone else's manhood? Ew! And OP, you need to write more carefully. Your updates are rife with a lot of errors. Well done, sir. |

This is a haven for critic. Writeditor, you should post the link of the story to those who may want to read the story.
Before I give my reviews, too, I should go and finish the story first.
Nice innovation, OP. |
