I just dont know why you always run away from site before completing work. Why didnt you at least wait for the pumping machine to pump water out so you witness it yourself before running away? It is a low yield borehole. You need to admit that. It is going to be hard to pump water twice a week. It is more like pumping it 1hr+ and twice a week. The last time water was pumped out of the borehole was like four weeks ago. To lose water pressure today after 1hr+ pumping means the borehole is a low yield.

Are you suggesting we get a higher HP pumping machine?
Its not like that, it was getting late and you know we are not based in abk. what we left them with is the pumping,

You cant know if its high yield or not in that context, what determines that is the recharge. if the recharge is very high than discharge, you know what that means. if discharge is higher than recharge thats another case.

This is where regulations comes in. your borehole can be programmed to be pumping water out at the recharging rate, and here you can be pumping 24hrs non stop, you will think you are having a good yield.

what we programmed there now is that we make sure you can get a 25ltrs within 33seconds. from my calculation that is 6000ltrs in 1 and half hr.

and of course the borehole will just undergo development now, the pores needs to be freed and the whole hole will improve.
I told them to pump it out again today so we can see how its recharging.

@FastShipping: some infos about the hole are here.
the standing water level is about 8m that is about 2 riser pipes (26ft). 25 riser pipes (about 325ft) were used for the installation.

It filled 25litrs in 33secs (discharge rate) we couldnt established the recharge rate.
the max pumping time as told was around 1hrs 30min before the pressure drop.

here r some pixs from the installation.
the first is the riser pipes used,
next is when 2 riser pipes alone was in the hole,
3rd was when the whole pipes was almost exhausted..

There is still space to lower the pump more with atleast 2pipes but the capacity of the pump will be a barrier.

the hole needs to be pumped consistently for now so that its pores can be active and thereby open up and also freeing it from the remaining particles.

I took the water sample for analysis, i will let u know later about the properties of the water.

thanks.

I heard they went there and pulled out the pump today. Whatever they do, just make sure they spend enough time there to finally sort out this problem. I know for sure that from the day this borehole was drilled, you and your crew haven't spent up to 5 hours doing this borehole when I heard 7-10 hours spent on other people's borehole in a day. Coming to the place to spend one hour and then disappear for two weeks won't solve this problem.

There is need to lower the pumping machine and pump the water out for at least 2 hours in the span of two to three days so we can all be happy at the end.

I told you I don't mind giving you money and getting my own Italian pump at the end but I can never trust anything you tell me and for that I won't buy a pump and hand it over to you or hand you money and let you continue dribbling me. You caused my doubt about you because you have broken all promises you made to me from day one.

When the borehole is done right, you can talk to me about money.

Sorry i haven't get back to you. I was there personally to pull out the pump. 26 riser pipes was used to your installation. That is about 320ft. To pull out alone wasn't a joke.

Am still examining the pump. Most likely you might not need to buy a new pump. I ll feed you back tomorrow after running a test on it.

There is nothing wrong with my work for you. You have a perfect hole. The problem we are facing now is you leaving the hole for long. Its a new hole that has not been serviced. A new hole will still have tiny sediments in it no matter how you flushed it and these sediments leave the hole through consistent pumping and time. When I drilled the hole I was told work is starting soon on the site that time. I never knew it will take up to 4 to 5 months. Some holes get free of all particles from first pumping but you should know it's nature.its not something one have control over.

Here the sediments had coagulate and started blocking pores in the hole. This was seen inside the pump too when i opened up the sieve.

Assuming its a sedimentary terrain, this could lead to stocking of the pump thereby condemning the hole.

I will salvage the situation here. You don't have to worry about a thing.

Also please stop saying I promise, I don't promise. What I do is technical work and I can only speak or advise technically.

On the issue of time, the machine we used didn't spent up to 5 hours. Being to the nature of the terrain. In other places, you can spent 5days on a job.

I know you are a good man and will justify whether to give me any money or not. But I ll accept any decision you make.

What really matters is getting the best and value out of the hole.

Agreed with you about money oh. Just few list of your preferred brand and if possible kindly include price as well.
Thanks.
ACI is also Gud, bought an 0.5 two days ago for 37k. It's 1hp should be around 45
Rock 1hp is around 45-50k
We also have the dab family... There around about 3 in this group. I actually don't like going for anything dab but they r also good.

Pls note these are pumps for domestic hole.

For real industrial borehole, you have to go for original Italian or German pump. These are in the range of 120-400k depending on the hp

Thanks bro...please where can I get the flow switch in Ibadan?
Flowswitch, go to iyawo 's place. It's behind Alalubosa Estate around iyaganku. I don't have their direct line. It's less than 10k. Then you ll have to pay the technician too. It's also known as timer. They might not know it as Flowswitch.
Some shops also have it around iworoad.

If you have difficulty in getting it, pls let me know

I have these questions to ask....

1. If my total drill is 55m...what should be the total meters of pipes to be install with the pump?

2. How many hp pump should be install? .5 or 1?

3. If you pump for like 40minutes and the pump stop pumping water while the pump is still running...what could be the problem and solutions...

Thanks
1) If the total drill is 55m, the installer might decide to install at 45m. He ll use his own discretion anyway, considering the formation of the area, the volume of water and the yield. In some instances, you can install very close to the total drill depth if the formation down there is strong and rocky.

2) The pump to install also depends on the yield. But most driller always go for a 0.75hp. It's a medium pump and it won't be too high or low. Also brand is very important. There are some brand that there 0.5hp is more powerful than another's 1.5hp.

3) This means the discharging rate is higher than the recharging. The pump has sucked all the water in the hole. You will ve to wait for some minutes for the hole to recharge again.
You have to control the pumping so that it won't burn your sumo pump. You can get a flow switch. This will automatically break the circuit after 40min and allow the hole to rest and regain water then start pumping again.

I hope i was able to pass some light out.
Thanks.

@HsLBroker, i dont think you can prove your innocence....what you need to do and apologize and promise to change.

These people are not scheming to pull you down....they just want you to amend your ways. I think you should even be lucky for that.

FastShipping seems to be someone with a kind heart and that is why he has kept all these to himself...i guess he actually believe in you and hoping to hear good things about you from others but the other is the case.

In civil, some projects might want to go out of way but its the approach to those projects that matters.

Someone's problem is another man's gain...this is what happens when drillers experience loss of circulation while drilling in sedimentary terrain.

In this situation, the chemical and water providers are always happy and smiling as you could end up spending twice the amount budgeted for them in tackling the situation.

Another method to tackle this is to introduce saw dust into the mud pit, this approach is very fast in sealing the pores leading to loss of circulation but it might leads to contamination of the water from that formation by giving it herbal taste...the water gets purer through consistent pumping out.

Drilling in Ifite, Awka Anambra State.

Drilling in Awka generally does not involve so much technicality as the targeted aquifer is not that deep, like between 90 - 150ft. The formation here is majorly of sands.

But Ifite area, especially around Unizik campus gate 3 area is an exception. In this area, getting water is very difficult because there is an extension of Enugu coal and Imo shale passing through it. We only have sands from the top down to like 10-20m and after that, it is coal/shale extending to like 1000ft(from previous drilling)

Hand dug well cannot be drilled pass this coal/shale formation thereby limiting the aquifer being tapped from to the top sands (less than 20m).

Drilling for water in a situation like this is not that tough but drillers should be well prepared for loss of circulation. To combat this wont be that easy considering the thickness of the coal or shale.

Attached are the result of my investigation in the area.
