PoliticsTell Nigerians What FG Used Borrowed N3tr For, Atiku Asks Buhari by lasmile(op): 3:00pm On Oct 10, 2018
By Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tell Nigerians what he used the N13 trillion his government borrowed within three years of his administration for.

Atiku, in a statement Tuesday by his Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, said that the Buhari government and the APC have been very idle of late, which explains their abandonment of the vital duties in order to focus on hurling insults and false accusations on the presidential candidate of the PDP.
It said: “The Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation runs an issue-based campaign where refined language and cerebral arguments founded on facts are used to disseminate the vision of our candidate which is why we call on the Buhari Campaign Organisation to waste no time in taking the #BuhariChallenge in clearing the air on these knotty issues bothering the minds of Nigerians.”

While challenging the Buhari Campaign Organisation to take the #BuhariChallenge and answer the following questions among others, it said: “Name one year that Nigeria’s GDP grew faster than her population under Buhari (for 16 years of PDP administrations, Nigeria’s GDP always grew faster than population growth).

“Name the initiatives the Buhari government has put in place to address Nigeria being named the world headquarters for extreme poverty under Buhari.

“Name one initiative the Buhari government has put in place to address Nigeria having the world’s highest number of out of school children; 13.2 million according to the United Nations Children Fund. Name the date the Ogoni cleanup will begin.

“Name what President Buhari has done with the N13 trillion loans he has taken in 3 years, compared to the N6 trillion borrowed by the PDP in 16 years.

“Name one youth in President Buhari’s cabinet. Name one campaign promise President Buhari has kept. Name the real owners of the Ikoyi apartment billions.”

It stressed that these are the issues the Nigerian people want to hear about, not insults from a Presidency and a party that have spent three years in office only to preside over Nigeria’s first ever recession in 25 years.

“We urge the Buhari administration to remember that it is this disinterest in real governance and focus on trivia that caused Bill Gates to look President Buhari in the eye and tell him that ‘your economic blueprint does not address Nigerians’ needs’.

Politics2019: How PDP Zoned Vice President's Slot To South East - Ex-national Secretary by lasmile(op): 1:08pm On Oct 10, 2018
The immediate-past National Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ben Obi, has disclosed that the party has already zoned the vice presidential slot in 2019 to the South-East geopolitical zone.

He spoke in response to the tussle between the South East and South West geopolitical zones of the country over which zone should produce the running mate to presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Obi said that the zoning of the vice presidential slot to the South East was one of the cardinal recommendations of the Sen. Ike Ekweremadu-led committee which was set up to examine why the party lost the 2015 presidential elections and make recommendations on the way forward.

“After the 2015 election, the party set up the Ekweremadu Committee. The Committee recommended that the party should zone the presidency to the North and the vice presidency to the South-East. The National Working Committee, NWC endorsed the recommendations of the committee,” Obi was quoted by Vanguard as saying.

However, the South West zone is refusing to forego the chance of producing the vice president of the party, with leaders from the zone accusing PDP of maltreatment over the years.

A chieftain of the party from the South West, who was a member of the PDP Convention Committee, said, “Now that we have a candidate to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, we must be fair to the South-West which has been taken for granted in the scheme of things for quite a while now. Anything short of the Vice Presidency slot will not be acceptable to our people.

“Last year, a lot of intrigues played out at our convention and we were denied the opportunity to produce the chairman. A prominent Nigerian and one of our leaders, Bode George backed out of the race and a few others who couldn’t comprehend what was going on left for other parties.

“But we stayed on and were able to prevail on our people to have faith in the party. Now that the convention has come and gone, I advise our candidate to pick his running mate from the South-West to win majority of our people’s votes.”

From what I see in this article, Tinubu advocated unused land to be turned to grazing reserve. He never mentioned SW land. We all know unused land in the north will be used for cattle grazing. I wonder why everyone is hyperventilating.
I swear the way Nigerians react to issues this days. In fact a lot of people are not happy.
Technically, this is as a result of failed economy.

another possible cause is that Buhari and Oshomhole led APC are too violent both in speech and actions. When leadership is characterised with violent speech, lopsided appointments, promoting policies and ideology that will divide Nigerians along religion, ethnic and region then we should expect all these to happen

God forbid, to give Atiku, a criminal, our Presidency!

There are better choices in Moghalu, Ezekwesili, Sowore, Donald Duke, e.t.c .....even when Buhari is a 'No-No'.
Buhari has divided Nigerians along religious and ethnicity so credible candidates like Kingsley Moghalu and Durotoye can't have their way now.

A non tribalistic and socially inclined leader need to come in and return Nigeria back to a more centralised and liberal state.

Mr Buhari's actions since he assumed office in 2015 are non democratic. Hence, a. need for a new leader

See Who PDP Wants As Atiku’s Running Mate in 2019
The Peoples Democratic Party led by its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has met with the 2019 presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and they have told him who they want as his running mate for next year’s election.

Though many names have been flying across the media space, the PDP leadership have stated in clear terms the calibre of person they want as Vice President for 2019 as they know that whoever they settle for can make or mar their chances in 2019.
The party says they want a younger individual than Atiku and be person must also be grounded in the economy; a requirement that may have already knocked off the likes of Ben Murray-Bruce who is being suggested in some quarters.

source said, “The meeting told the former Vice President that he should work with the party henceforth and that he has ceased from being a private person.

“The meeting demanded the list of those he considered could be his running mate. The party let him know that he has to carry its leadership along and that he (Atiku) cannot unilaterally pick a running mate without the party’s input.

“Some names were mentioned, but the party’s position was that a proper list should be compiled to enable both sides to look at the list and take a position.”

The source said that some criteria were set for who should partner Atiku to enable it to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 14, 2019 presidential election.

Such criteria, he said, included that the running mate should be younger than Atiku and be grounded in the economy.

“The party was very clear about these two areas. The running mate must be grounded in the economy and must also be younger than the presidential candidate,” the source added.

The source added that series of meetings would be held within the week in order to enable the party to meet the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the submission of candidates’ names for the elections.

He said, “There were other discussions concerning the setting up of the campaign council and those who should be there.

“In all, the candidate told the meeting that he was a team player and that he would always defer to it and that he could not do the job alone.

“It was a family gathering sort of, and the former Vice President also pledged to work with the party in order to have a successful campaign.”

Emerging report indicates that Atiku will get a running mate from the South-West zone of Nigeria, as against the South-East, as widely speculated.

Never again will that useless party produce the president of Nigeria.
I thought you went to the university and you are lettered. it is not about the party. it's all about the candidates. APC and PDP can both perform better if they insist on competent leadership.

If APC is bringing out Osinbajo alone and not Buhari, Nigerians will support APC massively to the extent Atiku will be ashamed to come out.

But this baba is not competent to handle the economy

This is what politics is all about when your daily activities and speeches are always towards national unity.

Atiku has shown class that he is a symbol of unity, peace and prosperity.

As a leader, you don't lead from behind, but from the front.

Quote me Law of Leadership 1 "When a leader is hyper responsive to any act that tends to promote unity and peace, the nation will reflect in a direct proportion.

Baba Sala is an entertainment industry legend, an exportable brand and icon in comedy.

Atiku's quick response to issue makes him stand out as a competent leader.
PoliticsNigeria May Soon Become World’s Poverty Capital, Says Kano Emir by lasmile(op): 9:00am On Oct 09, 2018
He said unless the country’s leaders get their priorities right and address critical issues that affect human development, many countries of the world would leave Nigeria behind.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Lamido Sanusi II, has warned that Nigeria may become the world’s capital of poverty within the next 30 years due to policy deficit.
He said unless the country’s leaders get their priorities right and address critical issues that affect human development, many countries of the world would leave Nigeria behind.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) spoke after he was inducted as honorary member of the Sigma Club of the University of Ibadan (UI) at the weekend in the ancient city.
The Emir revealed that he was in New York, United States recently for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and “one of the sessions I missed sadly, of which I got its reports, was the one anchored by Bill Gate, in which he spoke about global poverty.”
He went on: “What he tried to do was to draw attention of the world to the fact that, sometimes, when we look at big numbers and don’t break them down to regions, we miss important issues.
“According to projections, if every country continues its present trajectory, by 2050, 80 per cent of all the poor people in the world will live on the African continent. But that is not the frightening thing. One half of this 80 per cent will be in Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo. Two countries will account for 40 per cent of all the poor people in the world and Nigeria will therefore remain the poverty capital of the world.
“We will have elections in 2019. I read the papers, I watch the television and listen to the discussions. Who is talking about education? Who is talking about nutrition? Who is talking about basic health? As a country, what are our priorities? We don’t have enough money for education. We don’t have enough money for health. We don’t have enough money for nutrition. But we have N1 trillion or N2 trillion to spend on petroleum subsidies. Where is our sense of what is important and where is our investment in the future?”
