BusinessRe: Walmart In Nigeria by latch(m): 11:29pm On Apr 28, 2009
Walmart in Nigeria is certainly not a good thing.

See what Tesco Stores are doing in the UK: farmers are getting poor or being driven out of business by tescos price demands, not to talk of the thousands of small retailers tesco has driven out of business.

Walmart may creat a number of jobs, but they'll be driving a lot more people out of work, particularly in the villages, and guess what? , most will then head into the cities.

, and for some post I read a minute ago: Harrods isnt opening in Nigeria. There is only one harrods branch, and its staying that way.
RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerian Girls Have Protruding Bellies? by latch(m): 11:02pm On Apr 28, 2009
Nigerian girls simply eat too much. Next time you go to a wedding thats not too organised , just stand back and watch the girls at the buffet table , embarassing. I'll probably start recording them and posting on youtube soon

RomanceRe: Why Naija Guys In The Diaspora Go Home To Marry by latch(m): 10:59pm On Apr 28, 2009
Its not really just about good and bad attitudes. I think the more salient issue is that for some strange reason, African girls tend to be deeply influenced by the western culture, and tend to loose their roots, thus incompatibility issues then arise.

Nigerian girls come over her, and suddenly start going to rock concerts, listning to indie music, joining environmental protests, buying guitars, going rock climbing, reading Bacon, and a host of other strange things.

This simply doesnt happen to Nigerian guys for some reason.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Much Does The CBN Pay? by latch(m): 10:32pm On Apr 28, 2009
Back to the main question. I've worked in a bank in Nigeria, and I've worked in a government office wich works very closely with CBN, all before i left the country. CBN is a better deal anyday. You may see their pay check and think its just okay , don't be decieved. There are loads of monies paid weekly, monthly quarterly from all angles, for all sorts of crazy things.

I would have written some more, but I won't, cos I'm presently trying to get back in there.
PropertiesRe: Get Ready For Property Price Crash In Lagos by latch(m): 10:53pm On Apr 24, 2009
I really don't know what you guys are arguing about. The simple facts are:
Land is one of the best investments in the world, and 'normally' its value will always go up in the long run. SO regardless of any boom or bust, the value will eventally always increase.

Second, whenever there is a boom of any sort, its always followed by a bust (check your history). All booms are artficial and fuelled by certain conditions, speculators, laws etc. Eventually, the system must correct itself.

Further, someone mentioned something about Nigerians out here pumping cash into property. Yes we may be, but then most of us are aware the prices will soon crash, and are waiting.
TravelRe: Surviving In Nigeria On N80,000 A Month by latch(m): 11:39pm On Apr 13, 2009
80,000 is tough eespecially if you lived in the US for a while. You can start with that as long as you have plans to inrease this income. There are loads of things you havent yet factored in , eg:

clothes and shoes
diesel for the gen
inter-state travelling (one trip to abuja alone, halfs the monthly income)
presents, ticket money, recharge cards etc for regular chics, (assuming you dont settle for only prostitutes)
egunje allowance
internet access
books, magazines, newspapers
gate mans salary
, it goes on
BusinessRe: Who Is Currently The Richest Man In Nigeria? by latch(m): 7:09pm On Dec 19, 2008
IBB, without doubt.
Every one talks about the $12bn oil revenue , how about monies from the period eight years prior to the oil windfall? everyone seems to forget about that
BusinessRe: Ghana: The Next Africa Super Nation? by latch(m): 7:06pm On Dec 19, 2008
I agree with cediland, ghana is currently doing quite well and going in the right direction. Of course its low population while you consider it an advantage (sic: less mouths to feed), its actually more of a disadvantage (less population to buy goods and services, less brain power etc),

I'm also quite impressed with initiatives like the new Ashesi university founded by that ex microsoft guy. However, wether you like it or not, once you start drilling that oil , Ghana is doomed.

EVERY third world and undeveloped country that has natural resources is either fighting internally, or is a dictatorship.
