Babinski: Unongo is not being entirely honest. Awolowo and Azikiwe were both members of the Nigerian Youth Movement (NYM), the first genuinely nationalist organization in Nigeria. However, in 1941 Azikiwe backed Samuel Akinsanya to be NYM candidate for a vacant seat in the Legislative Council, but the executive selected Ernest Ikoli instead. Azikiwe resigned from the NYM accusing the majority Yoruba leadership of discrimination against the Ijebu-Yoruba members, Ibos and some Ijebu members with him, thus splitting the NYM along ethnic lines. The same Azikiwe, would in May 1964 after being selected as the first President of Nigeria, give a public lecture on the benefits of tribalism in forging national unity at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. What I can see from all these is that Zik himself considered ethnicity and tribalism as political tools and only hated it whenever he was at the receiving end. And I guess Awolowo also knew that.
Well said!! Some of the actions Zik took, were inconsistent with his posture as a nationalist.
OgaBuhari: TIV, Idoma, Nupe, ebira and all the minorities in the middle belt are all categorized under the Arewa Republic of Hausa Fulani. North na North. There's nothing like middle belt in nigeria
Ofemmanu1: If you can read and understand this post, your paranoia will cease.
IGBOS in their confusion, infusion and frustration arising from pride and over estimation of themselves leading them to a series of saboteur maniac syndromes.
Igbos broadly divided other Nigerians into three broad categories. Those they hate, those they deride and those they fear. Those they hate are the yorubas whom they call traitors, tribalists and cowards. Yet no race in Nigeria have been more tribal than the lbos.
There are historical facts to prove this. If something is ten and igbos are not allowed to take 15, so that the rest of us can share minus 5, lgbos will cry marginalisation and label the rest us tribalists. However there is no race in this country that have been more accommodating of the lgbos than the Yorubas, there is no single igbo leader that did not grow up in the South West or is a beneficiary of Yoruba largesse.
Zik went to CMS GRAMMAR SCHOOL, Adolphus wabara went to AHMADIYA COLLEGE AGEGE, Ken Nnamani went to LOYOLA COLLEGE IBADAN, Ojukwu and Ekwueme went to KINGS COLLEGE, Okpara went to YABA TECH while Phillip Emegwali went to AQUINAS COLLEGE, AKURE. Even my brother Anadu went to IMADE COLLEGE OWO etc All major Igbo politicians cut their political teeth in the West. Their major religious leaders cannot thrive outside the West. Pastor Muoka, Pastor Ezekiel of Four Square and Okonkwo of TREM are examples.
I remember that after the civil WAR, Igbos who came back to ILE IFE were allowed TUITION FREE while the YORUBAS in NSUKKA were rusticated. Example is Pastor Adeboye. Yet lgbos reserve their greatest hatred for the Yorubas for reasons being that the yorubas refused to be dominated by the lbos to confront the North.
As to the label of cowardice, had there been any war between the yorubas and the lbos in which the lbos defeated the Yorubas? In the whole ancestral history of Ndigbo, which war has the forefathers or great forefathers fought? Any empire in their history? Yet the yorubas have worsted the lgbos four times in the political history of Nigeria.
As to the label of treachery, had there been any agreement the yorubas signed with the lbos and they reneged? The answer is no. Yet the yorubas have records of Igbo treachery on the two occasions they formed alliance with them. In 1964 to fight the federal election, the yorubas formed an Alliance called UPGA with the Ibos to be led by Okpara because major Yoruba leaders were in jail. There was an agreement that the election must be boycotted. The Igbos sabotaged it, went and contested election while the West kept to the agreement.
In 1979 the West went into alliance with the lbos and formed PPA - PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE ALLIANCE. Again Igbo sabotaged it so that they can produce Speaker house of Representatives. Who then is traitor? The second category are the Eastern minorities made up of present Rivers, Akwa lbom, Cross Rivers and Bayelsa. The igbos see them as subhuman with tidal brain. Until the creation of Rivers State by Gowon, no OGONI man can sleep on the hospital bed in Bori GENERAL HOSPITAL . As at 1977 only UYO ,PHC and CALABAR had electricity light. They were so underdeveloped by their Igbo overseers that you will think that you were in the Congo jungle.
Until Diette Spiff, there was no Ikwere named Street in Port Harcourt. To show how deep the derision is, the present Biafran agitatators changed the name of RIBISI (Phc) to IGWOCHA as if the IKWERES do not exist.
The third category are the Hausa Fulani. The igbos pretend to hate the Fulanis but the truth is that the Igbo man is subservient to them. Ignore the noise. There are historical facts to justify this. Zik served under BALEWA, EKWUEME served under SHAGARI and EKEREMANDU zoned the PDP presidency to the North because he wants to be the VICE PRESIDENT to a Northerner.
After the civil war and OJUKWU was granted amnesty for his rebellion against constituted authority, he returned to Nigeria and he joined the Hausa fulani party (NPN) of those he accused of genocide against his Igbo people. It is Igbo tragedy that they hate and deride those who grow and sustain them while they cringe to those(the hausas) who kick them like balls.
Igbos are the only race in nigeria that celebrate failure. In 1982, the igbos celebrated the defeat of biafra by welcoming ojukwu with fanfare on his return from asylum haven been granted amnesty by the igbo overlords- the hausa fulani. He revelled in the fanfare and promptly married FFK left over- forgotten the over 3 million lgbos that died in the war and with many of them languishing at OJI RIVER CAMP.
The second celebration is the release of kanu with the most humiliating bail conditions ever granted an accused in the annals of Nigerian justice system. A bail conditions targeted at the entire Igbo race and granted by an Hausa Fulani judge. I could not believe that with all the noise, such bail conditions will be signed. But he signed and in his eagerness to leave kuje he abandoned his two conspirators in kuje. The bail conditions wiped out the Identity of the ibos and EKEREMANDU was made the enforcer of the conditions.
FFK is a polemist like Femi ARIBISALA etc. They have the capacity to argue both sides of the same point. The igbos regard him as their hero just like Ayo fayose the Eze gburugburu the second. I hope very soon the by Igbo will not start blaming fayose as they blamed Awo for everything that went wrong with their prosecution of the biafran war. I rest. #Akin writing from PH.
Oh my goodness! I don't know what to say. Wait first, let me read it again before I can comment.... Wey my kunu, my zobo, my groundnut and my mat? Na on top this thread I go match brake today. Hey, okada hold am there!
spacetacular: It must hurt you pretty bad to be noticed and ignored at the same time. It's a skill you need to learn and master. It's the ability to look at something as if you see it but all you have is a blank expression and reaction.
It's pathetic when a young man who is supposed to be smart would say the kind of things you do. People strive to learn but I guess you did not get that memo as all you do is spit bile everywhere under the illusion that it's a sign of intelligence.
Cave men know how to curse too you know?
spacetacular: The fact that you said all that above further proves my hormonal disorder theory and confirms your missing pink pacifier.
You talk like a woman having a spat with another woman even though you are male. Typical closet tranny!
Go get some real intelligence and stop thinking vitriol is a sign of intelligence. Perhaps to you vitriol IS a sign of intelligence and the pink pacifier was your award for being in the top ten. Next award might be a pink thong.
felixomor: I wish you had a dad. From Your first mention of my moniker till date, it says otherwise Anybody with a dad doesn't define his relevance by insulting the fathers of others. Sorry to say.
StOla: Why didn't Azikiwe resume in the Western Region as a leader of opposition? Atleast he still had his single seat he won and his party was now holding minority seats when compared to the majority seat that Awolowo and his independents alliance held?
Because he only wanted to lead and not follow. So he ran back to the Eastern region and usurped Dr Eyo Ita as the Premier of that region. All of a sudden, Azikiwe remembered he had a village in the East, yet he wanted to be a Western Premier, when the North had a Northerner and the East had Eyo Ita an Easterner. Or could Awolowo have ran to the East to contest for Eastern Premier if he had failed in his Western bid like Azikiwe quickly retraced his steps?
A man who having schooled in the US and not UK like Awolowo, did not understand parliamentary system of government. He foolishly chose to partner with the Northern NPC to become ceremonial president as opposed to being executive Prime Minister in an NCNC and AG alliance. The same American education would not allow Azikiwe to agree to Awolowo's demand to have a secession clause in the constitution. America had fought a civil war to keep it's territory intact between the slave owning South and the emancipated North Yankees. While a parliamentary Britain had managed to settle for Irish separation from the UK. In the end, it is his people that suffered for his political ignorance, and ended up fighting a civil war like the Southern Americans and lost like them.
But seriously, how can a tremendously educated Western Region have an Easterner who was only the first generation of educated Igbos as Premier? Even the poorly educated North had a Northerner. What did Azikiwe who was a Lagos politician know about the yearnings and aspirations of the Western Region?
In retrospect, Awolowo proved to be a blessing to the Western region and scored many firsts in Africa, that the rest of Nigeria had to play catch-up.
Abeg, cry me a river.
You forgot to add that Awolowo was also a blessing to the old Midwest region (when it was still under the old Western region), as many of them benefited from his free education and health schemes in the sixties. The Delta Igbo whose homelands fell under the old Western region, (before it was carved into the old Midwest) also benefited from Awo's free education programme. Even though many of their descendants try to deny it now, the fact still remains that a large proportion of their forbears would not have received an education if not for his programme.
AshiwajuFoward: You Ipobs are so fvcking dumb and stupid. If you call Zik 'unstable', what about Ojukwu your revered idol who started a war that ended up needlessly snuffing the life out of millions of his own kinsmen only for him to abandon the cause and leave them at the mercy of the Nigerian army? On top of that, the coward later returned to Nigeria and joined an Hausa-Fulani party, contested under the same party and was shamed and disgraced by his own people. Is it such a coward you are regarding as stable?? Ojukwu didn't even win the five SE states when he contested the presidency under Apga. Stable indeed.
Chimo! You want to give some people high blood pressure on this thread? Take am easy, nah!
Gbemishile1: Abeg make I park here Igbo vs igbo Me I don tell u wetin go solve all this thing Tell nnamdi KANU make e call all Igbo's from other states back to IBO land.none of them should leave igbo land.if only he had the balls
winterfell007: Nnamdi Kanu opened no ones eyes, he only succeeded in brainwashing the downtrodden into thinking they are in an imaginary bondage. In the eyes of right-thinking igbos, he's nothing but another fraudster wanting a hero's praise
You are too correct! Ol' boy, collect two chilled bottles of the best beverage from Mama Nkiru's shop down the road. You deserve it for this excellent submission.
ScotsReferendum: I maintain my stand that your parents never knew each other during IBB days.
You remain a kid to me
You belong to the indomie generation
Oya answer this simple question
Write down
1) Willi Willi song.
2) Blueband butter advert song
3) Mention one popular cartoon then and sing it's song
Oga, I have told you before that if you keep insisting my 'parents never knew each other during IBB days,' you would fail, if it was a JAMB question, o! Many couples met, married and started having kids long before Gowon came into power. They were one of them. As far as TV commercials & cartoons go, I have never been a fan of such things. Now, since you are so desperate to wear the crown of Grandfather of NL, okay, I dash you the title. Here it is... take!
2dugged: thank you,I know two women who are currently suffering because according to the family of the men ,they were not married, the first is a lawyer who was assassinated, one would have thought as a learned man he would have atleast gone to the registrty ,they have three children and she is pregnant with the fourth ,now that he is dead, his family members have confiscated his properties saying that their brother never had a wife, the second example is my neighbor who have been cohabiting for 7 years, for the past 6 months he left her to camp with a young lady because she promised to ask her brother to send him abroad, even when she delivered two months ago,the man didn't show up,and his people and her people said they can't intervene because she is not married to him, she is left with three children ,the two older ones have stopped school, non of her family members or that of the man came for omugwo. Only a fool will say who marriage help, there are certain rights and privileges that can only be accessed through marriages, no woman with a working brain should knowingly fall for that, if the pregnancy is unplanned, that is a different case, if he is serious, let him do registry first, simple
Oh, your post make sense, die! May God increase the wisdom He has deposited in your life.
ScotsReferendum: When you are ready to post your age, I will tell you mine
But always remember, when IBB was giving speeches, your parents never knew each other then.
Ah Ogbuefi, why are you shifting the goal post like dis, nah? Haven't you heard this saying before - 'he who asserts must prove?' Don't back down now. Post your birth certificate here, since you are the one who first asserted that you were older than me. You are now saying my parents never knew each other when IBB was giving speeches, haba, if na Jamb question be dis, you go fail oh.
Oga, stop this baseless assumption. Assumption is the mother of all fvckups. You are the one claiming to be older than me, so the burden of proof is on you. Post your birth cert here, sharp-sharp.... so we can read and verify!
ScotsReferendum: So the foreigners on Nigerian soil are here because their homelands aren't good.?
If that is your mindset, then you need to reset it
As for the age issue, since you doubt me, tell me your age.?
Haba Oga, you are the one that needs to take your own advice and reset your mindset. If Nigeria is under a so-called curse as you claim, because of the Igbo lives that were lost, then how come Ala Igbo is not yet an El Dorado? Finally, why not paste your own birth certificate here first, so we can know your own real age?
Why do you think Nigeria is not progressing despite holding the Igbos down.?
Have you asked yourself why most anti Igbo ethnic groups aren't doing fine on their soil but when an Igbo man steps into their region, he blossoms in wealth.?
Nigeria is under a curse she brought upon herself by sacrificing Igbo lives
Oga, you cannot be older than me. Abi you sabi me before? As for your propaganda which claims that it is 'when an Igbo man steps into their region, he blossoms in wealth,' it shows that there is something within Igbo land that obviously prevents him from prospering, until he gets to another place owned by a different ethnic group. So you should actually be thankful to all those different ethnic groups, for contributing to the success of your people.
Oga, please enjoy your propaganda and mythology in peace, since it makes you happy.... just do not shove it down our throats because the rest of us know better! If Nigeria is under a so-called curse as you claim, because of the Igbo lives that were lost, then how come Ala Igbo is not yet an El Dorado?
ScotsReferendum: I know I am older than you to under the times then and now
Check out all those who challenged the Igbos and watch how they ended.
The foundation of Nigeria has been stained with the Igbo blood placing her under a curse
Go back and check history again
Where is Buhari.?
That is the problem with you chaps. You always fly the kite of assumption. What on earth gives you the idea that you are older? Anyway, the Igbo blood that you claimed placed a curse on those people, how come that same blood has not made your folks to stop crying marginalisation? How come it has not delivered your Biafra to you, till date? Oga, I am not ready to follow you on this your journey to recycle petty propaganda. Save the mythology of the Igbo blood for your unborn generations, yet to come. Other people are much wiser now, and can sift fact from fiction. Let me leave you to your delusions...
ScotsReferendum: There is a difference between Igbos and Ogonis
Those who dared us all died shamefully
Awolowo
Abiola
Abacha
Abacha said the last war was a child's play. Months later he died like a chicken
Abiola said, that he can do without the Igbos, he died like a fowl later
Awolowo never accepted his crime against the Igbos when he was interviewed in the 80s, he committed suicide like a rat
Buhari dared us and has found himself in a London mortuary.
You dare us, you die. That is the curse of killing 3 million lives to keep Nigeria One.
Such propaganda can only appeal to those who have been brainwashed by Kanu's shallow rhetoric. It doesn't cut any ice with analytical folks, who truly understand the politics of the times.
Thank goodness for the Kaduna declaration. It made the IPOB chaps see things a little bit more clearly. Let them keep it up. They will soon (slowly but surely), get to the land of wisdom, enlightenment, honesty, tact, diplomacy and truth.
graphiti: Please, let him keep his apology to himself. Its too late. Its not actually what he said that shocked/disappointed me but d massive support he got for those hate-filled speeches. That shows he's speaking their minds. Even if he backs down (as he's already doing), what stops another air-head from starting d same poo and receiving the same support in future?
omohlexy: that guy lost relevance ever since the north gave them quit notice. i wan fight i wan fight now fight you dey look for who go hold you anu abi na kwanu
Diademk07: IIRC Oba of Lagos was roundly criticised by the Yorubas to the extent that he had to come out and retract his speech, saying it was a joke but then, did your folks criticise the events leading to Oba Akinolu's statement? Are we supposed to forget that your folks first called Lagos a "no mans" land which led to Oba Akinolu making such statement?
Personally, I don't see what's wrong in Ariyo's statement. His statement was about how the Ibos are always causing troubles everywhere like they did in South Africa and were dealt with but if Lagos deal with them and ask them to pack, they would start to cry... Cut to your Journalist screaming blue murder. The same journalist who failed to criticise your folks calling Ariyo's ancestral land a no man's land before he made such statement!
Moreover, Ariyo never asked for any ibo to be killed! Even the Oba who made the "Lagoon statement" only said that anyone who's against the cultures and the progress of the land will find himself in the lagoon. His only fault was that he was facing the ibo groups in front of him as he spoke.
But let me ask you, did Yoruba take these people as their gods and worship them after they made such statements compared to what the Ibos did with Kanu? Abegi!
Guy, you forgot to add that their own people were present on that day, and they even clapped for the Oba of Lagos after he made those comments?
When the Oba of Lagos was threatening to throw Igbo that did not vote into the lagoon, some Eze Ndi'Igbo in Lagos and other members of their ethnic group were in attendance.
What did they do when they heard that threat?? They clapped in merriment, laughed excitedly like schoolkids, and promised to comply with his demands, instead of taking him to task over his remarks. In many communities, such brethren who failed to defend the interests of their people before the Oba when he made those comments would have been held accountable, or dealt with.
Secondly, how many folks were in full support? I know people like Jimi Agbaje, Bode George & co., were not in support of those comments.
Unfortunately, these guys keep repeating this one-sided story like a mantra, and it is beginning to turn into propaganda.
Vote for Ambode or Perish Inside the Lagoon, Oba akiolu Tells Igbos | ThisDay Newspapers | April 6th 2015 |
....“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.
“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.
“If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you. If you go against my wish, you will perish in the water.”
The monarch said anybody against Ambode did not wish the state well, adding, “I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years....
In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised Akiolu that the Igbos in the state would support Ambode.
“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbos. It is not only the Igbos that were responsible for the votes. But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win.
“Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. We are going to tell our people that Ezes from the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas are here and that we have sworn with the Oba that we are going to make sure that Ambode wins next Saturday’s election,” he said.
Hope you can see the reaction of these Ezes that were in attendance when the Oba made his threat. None of them objected to his remarks or even expressed any displeasure at what he said, o!
Here is another view of the same incident:
Oba Akiolu’s statement was jocularly made to his Igbo friends - Oba Akiolu’s ‘Death Threat’ Against Igbos Was An Honest Joke – Atueyi’ ON APRIL 10, 2015 | 3:44 AM
A Lagos-based lawyer Chukwudi Atueyi, who was present at the meeting between the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu and some Igbos where he made the infamous ‘death threat’, yesterday, gave an account of what transpired at the meeting.
According to Atueyi, the uproar was uncalled for as the Oba’s statement was not directed at the whole Igbos in Lagos but he spoke jokingly to his Igbo friends that visited him.
“All the Eze Ndi Igbo honorary in Lagos went to pay HRM solidarity visit on Sunday and I was fortunate to be among those present at the said meeting. What the Oba said was fully and simply directed to only the Igbos present at the meeting who his majesty considers to be very close to him and should understand him well enough.
“You know when one talks to his very close friends and subjects, he tends to be very free with them, so he was being very free with those present at the meeting and wanted us to realize how serious and close he takes us and our votes, because he cannot imagine us giving him our words only to turn back and do the very opposite.
“He did not force us to the meeting, we were the ones that went to him on solidarity visit, so it would be very evil of us to only go and deceive him there. He only jokingly (at least as it appeared to me then) warned the people present at the meeting who he considers his own people. The said warning that we are supposed to be very conversant with since we have all the “Ëze Ndi Igbo” present there, as that was not the first time we visited him. We are all already aware of the Yoruba culture and understood perfectly what he meant. There was no specific place he referred to all the Igbos in Lagos.
“He was only addressing the Igbos with him present there whom he considers his own people and he simply observed his culture which we all quite understood and this explains why there was applause and laughter at the end of his speech. We were expected to, thereafter, talk to our people in civilized manner to convince them and canvass for their votes if we truly believe we are capable of doing so.
“The tradition of lagoon water threat was directed only to those present at the meeting as culture demands. Though he appeared serious but we all understood it as a joke, that was why we all applauded him and made fun of it there.
In an interview with select journalists in Enugu during the 47th anniversary commemoration of Biafra Day, on May 30, 2014, Kanu projected that by September 30, 2015 Nigeria would cease to exist even as he declared his readiness to fight all the way until Biafra is carved out of Nigeria as a separate republic.
He traced the killings of Igbo people, whom he called the indigenous people of Biafra; in the northern part of the country to the lopsided development and federal superstructure that tended to reward mediocrity to the conspiracy against Igbo, saying that, “injustice makes life unbearable to our people.”
He regretted, for instance, that 47 years after the war, war veterans from the Biafran side had not been paid their allowances like their colleagues, saying; “These men fought under the Coat of Arms of Nigeria. The war broke out and they fought for their country Biafra and they have not been paid. It is a great injustice. It is a continuation of the same injustice that led us to try to extricate ourselves from this Luggard creation called zoological republic of Nigeria. That is why it is very disheartening that you see old men in every blessed month crying and wishing that their money will come to them and nothing happens”.
“As long as the intention and purpose of the amalgamation of North and South were designed to cheat the South,” he went on, “the nation would never move forward, because any country that makes injustice its watch word can never prosper.” ........
He said no amount of national conferences can solve Nigeria’s problems, because of deep-rooted hatred among the different nationalities in the country, adding that the only panacea to Nigeria’s problems is to split it into different regions.
Kanu regretted that despite the declaration of the “No Victor, no Vanquished” outcome of the 30-month Nigeria versus Biafra civil war in 1970, “successive governments had continued to deliberately marginalize and make life unbearable for the Igbo nation and its people”.
While calling on all genuine Igbo people across the globe to rise up and join the crusade of ensuring the emergence of the Biafran Republic, Kanu maintained that it was time for the Igbo to pull out of Nigeria, which according to him is a failed nation where nothing works.
He declared: “There is no going back, by September 2015, Nigeria would have seized to exist; we shall fight until we get Biafra, if they don’t give us Biafra, no human being will remain alive in Nigeria by that time; we shall turn everybody into corpses; you better go and buy your coffins. I wonder how any right thinking fellow would want to remain in a nation where he or she has no stake or recognition. The Igbos would soon move from bondage to the promised land where God has already prepared for them, like the Israelites when they left Egypt.”
Decrying the sufferings and agonies being faced by ordinary Nigerians as a result of corruption and bad governance, Kanu asserted: “It is the watershed in the history of the geographical expression called Nigeria. It is the aftermath of the mistake of the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates by Lord Lugard. Nigeria is doomed, especially since the country is driven by world-acclaimed selfish and corrupt leaders, who do not believe in the wellbeing of the poor masses.” https://guardian.ng/sunday-magazine/biafra-managing-a-complex-civil-war-backlash/
Director Of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu Threatens The Whole Of Nigeria With Violence (See Video)
Nnamdi Kanu, the director of heavily controversial radio station, Radio Biafra, is now threatening the whole of Nigeria with violence, a language he claims is the only thing we can understand as a nation. While sitting down to do an interview, he said: "If they fail to give us Biafra, Somalia will look like a paradise compared to what will happen to that zoo. It is a promise, it is a pledge, and it is also a threat to them [Nigerians]" http://www..com/talk/topic,270368.0.html; http://naijagists.com/video-biafra-radio-founder-nnamdi-kanu-threatens-nigerians-with-bomb-bloodshed-war/
I saw how your were masturbating on the this thread cos the Kanu haters seems to be having an upper hand. The truth is no one is perfect except God. Am not trying to labelled Kanu a saint here He might have erroneously done things which he shouldn't have done but he did It in a way which he thought suitable for seeing to the interest and welfare of his people, his style may not have been the best but his human jhux like me and you. I don't see anything bad in him coming out clean to clear the bad notion and assumptions held by your lots about him been a hater of the northerners that was why I cite those instances of him exhibiting his human nature in those links.
I know you have a deep-rooted Igbophobia in you so any effort trying to convince you would be in vain.
Nigeria made Igbo what it is today. No any Igbo knowing about the civil war and the millions of innocent Igbo lives lost during the war and the role played by each ethnic group that would be bitter. u ain't Igbo so you wouldn't know how it felt. I personally lost a lot of family members and relative to the war and even to crises up north. Kanu might have been in a similar situation as I am. he might have been emotional but he's still human.
Oga, I was not masturbating on any thread. That is default behaviour for you and your IPOB crew. When people like you choose to ignore the facts, and wallow in falsehood who am I to stop you?
Kanu made all those hate speeches, many of which were heard by the public, and even recorded in some cases. And you call them assumptions, or notions? Haba!Fear God, nah.
Now, you have chosen to digress into the civil war. Kindly stop playing the victim card. There are plenty of threads on NL, that have dealt with the civil war. Go there and make your point, but please do not derail this thread. Every side lost family and friends in that war. Both the Nigerian side, and the Biafran side. Able-bodied men were conscripted on the streets, and sent to the war-front with little or no training. May the souls of the departed on all sides, rest in peace.
The fact still remains that Kanu incited hate against other ethnic groups. He needs to own up, and apologise clearly, publicly and properly for his misguided utterances, and learn to treat others with respect. He also needs to instruct his acolytes to do the same.
Finally, I am not Igbophobic. I am simply, unapologetically IPOB-phobic. I hate their vitriolic rhetoric, insulting epithets, propagation of hate, and blatant condemnation of other ethnic groups, as well as the way they try to blame others for all the real and imaginary woes, suffered by Nd'Igbo. I dislike their continuous attempts to carve other non-Igbo ethnic groups into their proposed republic, despite the strident objections of such groups.
Now, please kindly stop spamming my mentions with your propaganda. If you quote me again, I will be compelled to ignore you. I don't engage people who are trying to conduct PR exercises for Nnamdi Kanu, or those trying to whitewash his folly.
ifenes: Caring for someone deeply has nothing to do with marriage. Marriage is a meaningless and old institution that does not guarantee love and affection. It only gives satisfaction to our parents who they themselves were subjected to forceful Union. Many married couple live seperates lives nowadays.
Many naija girls use marriage as a selfish tool to tie a man down. They feel old and useless once they hit 36 years old and higher, hence the " marry me" demands gets louder after wasting their youthful years dating sugar daddies or doing irrelevant activities. Worst part is saving their Virginas till wedding night( what a barbaric mentality)
A woman should rather become a happy baby mama over wasting in an unhappy wedlock. Marriage is old and outdated, lets embrace true love and more kids outside unholy- marriages.
Ok, preach this your gospel to your daughters and sisters, and make sure they all follow it. Tell them to just pack their loads and go and live with any man they like, without any ties. Tell them they are free to continue having meaningless relationships, without a future. Forgive me, if I do not attend your sermon.
IfeanyiYagazie: I guess you're contradicting yourself. and you're da minute wrong about him. forget about his tribe or political stand, He's first Human before being an Igbo man.
By the way, did you read the story in these links at all or did you just copy and paste them here, in order to confuse others? Where is Nnamdi Kanu mentioned in any of these stories? It merely talks about an Igbo man sewing clothes for Almajiri children in Kano. Is the man related to Kanu in any way, or was he carrying out his instructions?
ACCEPTING THE SIMILARITIES AND RESPECTING THE DIFFERENCES This shop with no. 129 is owned by an igbo man in Sabon Gari market in kano, he is the one that is sitting on a chair inside the shop, he is a neighbor to my friend.
Yesterday he gathered 30 children (almajiris) and called a tailor to measure their sizes and take their name’s, tell them to come back on next Saturday and collect new clothes of their respective sizes and wore to celebrate Sallah Eid for Free.
shukuokukobambi: Taking responsibility is alien to them They must always pass the buck. It's always someone Else's fault. They shoot the first bullet, when you shoot yours, they complain you didn't first give them anesthetics to kill the pain
Imagine the albino braggart recanting now and his lapdogs are all over the place in defending him
I guess you're contradicting yourself. and you're da minute wrong about him. forget about his tribe or political stand, He's first Human before being an Igbo man.
Oga, if you truly want to be honest please do an extensive Google search, and you will see where Kanu called Nigeria a zoo, referred to Northerners as baboons, insulted those who attended churches owned by yoruba pastors, called for the extermination of certain ethnic groups and even solicited for arms to be used against Nigerians. All this your PR efforts here will never work.
Most of us had access to his hate speeches from the days of Radio Biafra and witnessed his contempt for other ethnic groups. All what you are doing here is trying to 'whitewash' Kanu's evil rhetoric. We are not that gullible. Now, please kindly refrain from quoting me, if all you want to do is push your brand of propaganda into the public space.
Diademk07: Manipulative revisionism weasel at it again! Cry me a river.. Cos the truth won't change!
Oh, you sef don see am! He is trying to do some damage control for his brother, Kanu.
MiddleDimension: my dear, i have more aiaters than i have brothers. the same advice i gave here a wat i would give to them. infact, i gave one of them the aame advice sometime ago.
how many more failed marriages and men cheatin on their wives do ypu want to see before yu realise that thia old behaviour we have towards life is not ezactly true? how many more meb do we want to see leave their wives before we realise that a man getting married to a woman is not an evidence at all that the said man truelly loves and respects his wife? i am a man and i can tell you that the same way i see my.girlfriend is the way i would see a wife. for me, what you call marriag ia juat.the aigning of a paper nothing more!
if a woman reques me to sign a paper before ahe can be sure my love for her, then i tink there is a truat issue somewhere whic the signing of the paper wont solve in the first place
When marriages fail, it is not because there is something wrong with the institution of marriage. It is simply because the people within that union may have chosen the wrong partners, or failed to study the attitudes, behaviour and lifestyle of their partners before getting hitched, or may have failed to fulfil the commitments that come with matrimony. Many people get married for the wrong reasons.
Ok, are you saying relationships between people who are NOT married do not break down as well? Are you saying a man cannot walk out on a woman who has had kids for him, outside wedlock? People who see marriage as the 'signing of a paper,' do NOT understand what that institution is all about.
If you truly love a woman with your whole heart, you would be seeking ways to keep her permanently with you and not lose her to someone else. This would propel you to head for the registry or the church/mosque, to tie her to you, so that your seal of ownership can be on her.
If a car carrying passengers has an accident on the highway, would you say that all cars are bad and so people must walk to get to their destinations?
ifenes: Naija mentality on marriage is really low...... Marriage is no guarantee a man will stay with you. You don't have to get married to raise a family.
You don't have to get married to raise a family? This is the kind of view that has led to the destruction of the family unit, which in turn gave rise to the breeding of baby mamas, slay queens, area boys and touts. And this happens when the discipline, security, norms, culture and values which are supposed to be established within the boundaries of a functional family unit are missing, simply because basic marital responsibilities and family structures, have been discarded.
If you get married and the man does not stay with you, at least the society & the law gives you a route through which you can file claims for alimony, seek redress or even bring his bad behaviour to the attention of his immediate & extended family members. When you are just a baby mama, olosho, friend-with-benefits, or a bed warmer, what leg do you have to stand on, as a woman?
